      World Cup fans enjoy pints for just 66p – here’s how to get yours

      A POP-up pub opened yesterday to a packed crowd of football fans – all enjoying budget 66p pints.The ZYN Arms, in the heart of Shoreditch, London, played host to 300 punters who were treated to the wallet-friendly prices and table service to ensure they didn’t miss a second of the action as England beat Iran 6-2.

      A study of 2000 Brits found over a third of those who work (36 per cent) said they had already booked time off to watch the tournament, whilst almost half (46 per cent) say they are aiming to catch a match in a pub or bar.
      The research also suggested those who smoke were less likely to take cigarette breaks during the matches, with half saying they were too worried about missing a bit of the game.
      While one in five fans also claim that their most important factor for enjoying a match, was that it would be in a smoke-free environment, if enjoying the event in a beer garden or outside area.
      Operating on a strictly smoke-free basis, smokers are encouraged to ditch their cigarettes by sampling ZYN Pearls Ice Mint Strong, the brand’s latest product release, allowing them to enjoy an immersive experience without any distractions or cigarette breaks.

      Darren Griffin, UK country manager, said: “We really wanted to cater to football fans this season and listened to these needs by launching The ZYN Arms.
      “With almost a third of Brits claiming their biggest gripe at watching football was inhaling second hand smoke, we wanted to ensure there was a comfortable and worry-free space for all to enjoy.”
      Further results proved the importance of football to adults, with a third admitting to cancelling prior commitments in order to watch this year’s games.
      Birthday parties (52 per cent), office parties (55 per cent), stag/hen parties (45 per cent) and weddings (34 per cent) were among the top events cancelled this year to accommodate the games.

      Additionally, more than a quarter of those polled, via OnePoll, said they were planning on taking sick days from work to watch the matches, and almost half said they would take a day off to celebrate if England wins the tournament this year.
      The pub will be open until Wednesday 23 November 10pm and will be screening three games per day for over 21s only.

      WITH St George’s flags hanging on walls, paintings of Winston Churchill, London Pride on tap, and fish & chips on the menu – you could be fooled into thinking you are in a classic British boozer.But then you remember you are in the middle of Moscow and you aren’t in a Wetherspoons, you are actually in Churchill’s Pub – one of the home’s of English football in Russia.

      Pictures from inside the pub show a loving crafted tribute to English football and British culture – with portraits of monarchs such as King George V.
      There are piles of football scarves, hanging footie strips and other memorabilia plastered around the pub – most of which is for the punters’ club of choice, Millwall.
      And in the middle of the front window is a giant St George’s flag hanging around a mannequin clad in a Churchillian suit and bowler hat next to a sign for London Pride.
      Next to the dummy is a World Cup – as the patrons this year have vowed to back England despite tensions over the Ukraine war between the UK and Russia.

      And while the punters told The Sun Online they currently can’t get London Pride in Russia due to sanctions, they have plenty of other beers on the menu.
      You can get hold of Hobgoblin, Bishops Finger, Ghost Ship, Theakstons and plenty of others – along with various variants of Scotch.
      It even has its own Churchill’s Draught Ale – complete with a pump that resembles the World War 2 leader’s hat and dickie bow.
      The food menu is also brimming with plenty of classic pub grub – with options for pies, burgers and of course fish & chips.

      Churchill’s Pub also has a traditional red phone box outside – and makes sure to show English matches on TV.
      And it of course will be showing the World Cup.
      Maxim Prokhoroenko, one of the pub’s regulars and the head of the Millwall Supporters Club in Russia, told The Sun Online about his love for Churchill’s Pub.
      “It has that unique English pub’s atmosphere. That’s why we chose it as a home for Russian Lions,” explained Maxim.
      But he bemoaned the absence of his favourite beer London Pride.
      “Russia is under sanctions now, so we can’t get it now, either we still have good choice of ales, lagers and spirits,” he told The Sun Online.
      Russian fans who gather at Churchill’s Pub are unashamed Anglophiles – and they will be cheering on England in Qatar.
      The war has made things tough for the Russian Lions – and they have called for peace, urging Putin to stop the “madness” in Ukraine.
      But all the troubles won’t stop them backing the Three Lions.
      He added however they don’t hang their flags or carry them outside anymore due to the politics.
      “We will support England. My strong opinion is that the sport is above the politics,” Maxim told The Sun Online.
      “The political situation between our countries is not good, but it’s just football.”

      He went on: “I have many friends in UK, we keep on chatting, they are sending me pictures and videos from The Den, I hope I will be able to come to London to see my Millwall again.”
      Maxim said he believes England “deserves” to win the 2022 World Cup after the Three Lions heartbreakingly missed out at Euro 2020 in a gut-wrenching penalty shootout against Italy.
      He and his pals will be adding their cheers and chants for England some 2,000 miles from Doha, 1,600 miles from the UK.
      Maxim said: “England every tournament has a very strong team, but every time after 1966 something is going wrong. I can’t explain this magic.”
      He joked that England should replace Gareth Southgate with a manager like bumbling fictional coach Mike Bassett and play “four, four, f***ing two”.
      However, despite vowing the cheer on England – he said he didn’t know who will win the World Cup.
      “I don’t want to be like Pele saying rubbish predictions every time,” Maxim told The Sun Online, but added he thinks Serbia could have a chance to pull off a shock.
      Russia will not be competing the World Cup this year despite being the host nation in 2018.
      FIFA kicked the side out after numerous nations vowed to refuse to play against the final stages of qualification due to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

      Lucky customers will be able to grab a free pint, bottle of Ice Breaker Pale Ale or an alternative soft drink at more than 800 participating pubs.
      To claim the free drinks, customers will have to show their photo ID at the bar during a live group game involving either home nation.
      Greene King pubs across the country will be screening every England and Wales match of the tournament.
      The Three Lions will face Iran, USA and Wales in Group B as they look to make it to their first World Cup final since 1966.

      Elite leagues around the world have paused to allow the best players to head out to the Middle East to do battle for the most prestigious trophy of the lot.
      Hosts Qatar will play Ecuador in the 2022 World Cup opener in front of 60,000 fans at the Al Bayt Stadium.
      Chris Conchie, head of marketing for Greene King sport, said: “Any international football tournament is a major event for fans, and since the success of the Lionesses earlier this year, all eyes are on the men’s teams this winter.
      “This limited time offer is more than just a free drink, it’s a chance for us, as your home of pub sport, to provide the best environment for people to come and show their support right across the UK for our England and Wales stars as they pursue glory at the highest level of international football.”

      It comes after news Wetherspoons is set to show World Cup games in its pubs for the first time.
      The vast majority of its 850 pubs across the country will be screening football’s biggest international tournament according to the popular boozer.

      A third who plan to watch the game at home are doing so because it’s cheaper than the boozer.
      And 43 per cent of those planning to stay at home intend to invite friends and family over to watch the games.
      More than a quarter simply don’t want to leave the comfort of their own home, while 14 per cent said it’s too cold outside.
      Being able to rewind the game at crucial moments and pubs being too rowdy were also cited as reasons people may stay in.

      In fact, 18 per cent felt they had a better set-up at their home to watch football than visiting the local pub.
      And three in four of the adults who plan to watch matches want to improve their home viewing experience – including buying a new TV and sound system.
      The study was commissioned by Toshiba TV, as the brand decided to surprise unknowing sports fan Jack Moore with a visit from former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who gave a unique insight into his greatest England moments.
      Jack, who lives in east London, was nominated by friends as the ultimate fan of the Swedish manager, who popped round to take in some footie and share his expertise.

      Bart Kuijten, commercial director at Toshiba TV, said: “This winter football season will be like no other.
      “We’ve become accustomed to packed fan parks and pub beer gardens during summer tournaments, but with colder days and darker nights, we can see fans choosing to plan watch parties at home instead.
      “With a feast of international football on offer, fans are upgrading their TVs, installing smart doorbells to greet their friends, and even buying new furniture to make everyone comfortable.
      “The football watch party is going to be the way to watch in the lead up to a Christmas final.”
      The research also found almost one in five of those sticking at home for games will do so because they’re less likely to have their view of the TV blocked than they would in a crowded pub.
      And more than one in 10 know they won’t be available at the exact time of kick-off so they’re able to watch games on catch-up at their leisure.
      It also emerged stocking up on snacks, listening to football podcasts to improve their knowledge and covering their home in flags are among other ways viewers want to improve their experience.
      As well as subscribing to sports channels, buying a personalised football t-shirt and downloading Spotify playlists.
      The electronics maker also created a quiz so you can find out what kind of football fan you are.
      The study, conducted via OnePoll, also found 24 per cent of those eagerly anticipating watching the matches expect to watch all 64 games, with 49 per cent planning to view more than half.
      A fifth of hopeful fans are rooting for England to take home the trophy this year, with Brazil, France and Germany at the top of footie enthusiasts prediction list.

      Dyche, 51, was sacked by the club’s new American owners in May as Burnley headed for relegation — and nipped in for a pint and chatted with fans on Wednesday.
      Dyche, in jeans instead of his trademark suit and tie, signed the mural: “To all at the Royal. Dyche.”

      Fellow Claret Eric Grace added: “This speaks volumes about the man. Honesty and integrity.

      The pub threatened to fine punters if they dared to ask for the name to be changed after Dyche’s departure.
