His 12 goals in 19 Premier League matches are already double his previous best tally in the competition.
Eddie Howe is now reportedly eyeing a move for Solanke as he looks to sign a striker this month.
Callum Wilson is currently sidelined with a calf injury which is expected to keep him out until at least the trip to Aston Villa on January 30.
That injury leaves Alexander Isak as Newcastle’s only available senior centre forward.

According to The Telegraph, the Magpies have made an approach to Bournemouth for Solanke in a bid to solve their striker crisis.
However, the Cherries have responded by telling them that they are unwilling to sell the forward this month.
Solanke has also been tipped as a potential January target for Arsenal after being identified as an alternative to Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
The former Liverpool striker still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the Vitality Stadium after signing an extension in September.

His 12-goal Premier League haul this season has only been bettered by Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah.
Those strikes include a brace in a 2-0 home win over Newcastle in November.

Solanke’s form could even see him recalled to the England set-up by Gareth Southgate.
He has not been capped by the Three Lions since making his senior international debut against Brazil in 2017. More

Sancho dropped a major hint that the deal is done as he liked a post about the transfer from journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The tweet states that the winger will head to Germany later today.
It also claims that Dortmund will not have an option to buy him when the loan finishes and they will pay just a portion of his wages.
Reports suggest that Sancho earns £290,000-a-week at Man Utd and his parent club will have to cover a third of his salary.

Man Utd struggling to shift Anthony Martial with star refusing to leave this month despite new loan bid from Marseille

MARSEILLE have launched a frantic late bid to try and land Anthony Martial, SunSport has learned. Reports today claimed the Frenchman is planning to see out his deal at Manchester United having snubbed a move to Fenerbahce.

But Old Trafford sources say representatives from Marseille remain in touch with United over the chance of a loan move for Martial during this January transfer window.
However, any deal relies on the player being willing to go back to his homeland, which could prove to be a sticking point.
Our source said: “Interest remains high in Anthony.
“His stock may be low at Manchester United but there is interest among clubs in Europe for him.

“Marseille are at the front of the queue and are in touch with United about taking Anthony on loan in January.
“The problem is the player himself.
“As things stand, he is planning on seeing his deal out and then reconsidering his options in the summer.
“Anthony sees his next move as crucial, so he has no plans to rush into making any decisions over his future.”

Martial, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and Erik ten Hag stunned fans recently by claiming that United were in talks with the forward over a new deal.
They have the option to trigger a 12-month extension to his current contract.
The Dutchman said: “We are talking with Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial.
“That is an internal discussion between the club and the player.”

But contrary to Ten Hag’s comments, reports suggest the Red Devils are planning to part ways with the Frenchman after nine years at Old Trafford.
The former Lyon and Monaco attacker has scored just 12 Premier League goals over the past three-and-a-half seasons – including one in 2023-24 – and it seems that United have finally run out of patience with him.
The club’s preference would be to sell him this January and recoup some money rather than let him leave on a free in the summer.
But this also depends on whether United can sign a replacement.

Keane had sparked controversy with an appearance on MUTV earlier that season.
The former skipper had criticised a number of his team-mates’ performances, while he also admitted he’d be “prepared to play elsewhere”.
Years later he claimed to have had a frosty relationship with Ferguson’s assistant Carlos Queiroz, contributing to his sudden exit.
Describing the meeting that confirmed his departure on Stick to Football in association with SkyBet, Keane said: “I generally have no problem when a club tells a player [to leave the club] – it’s the game we’re in.

“For you [Ian Wright], they sat you down and had a chat – to me, at least, that’s kind of respectful.
“I’m getting called into a meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill, and before I sat down, they’d already prepared a statement.
“This is my issue – they already prepared a statement, and they had the years wrong!”
Despite his frosty exit, Keane still felt a sense of loyalty when picking his next club.

He continued: “I spoke to Everton, Bolton and a couple of other teams.
“I had that mindset which is crazy, when a club is forcing you out the door and you can’t sign for other teams.
“Everton would’ve been a good move at the time – the location, and I had huge respect for David Moyes – but I felt I couldn’t go to another English team.”
Four weeks after his Man Utd departure Keane signed for boyhood club Celtic.
He would only play 13 times for the Bhoys, however, with his stint beginning with a dismal 2-1 Scottish Cup defeat at Clyde.
Keane, who went on to announce his retirement that summer, insists that he still enjoyed his brief spell at Parkhead.
He added: “I went to Celtic, an iconic and amazing club. The stadium is amazing, but I hadn’t really seen the training ground.
“I’m going back a few years – they have a good one now. I was in the dressing room with Celtic – we got changed at Celtic Park and drove to the ground in our boots and gear.
“I didn’t kick a ball at Celtic – I was injured all the time.
“What I did enjoy – for all my comfort zone at Manchester United, and I loved every minute of my time at United – was that it was good to be in another dressing room for six months.
“The Celtic lads, there were one or two idiots but generally speaking, they are great lads. I mixed with different lads, different dynamics, and I really enjoyed my time at Celtic.”

Keane eyed a return to Celtic Park as manager in 2021 upon Neil Lennon’s exit.

Marcus Rashford should be setting an example for Man Utd team-mates… instead he was just walking around, slams club icon

MANCHESTER UNITED icon Lee Sharpe criticised Marcus Rashford’s performance in the FA Cup against Wigan.Rashford helped United beat the Latics 2-0 at the DW Stadium to advance to the competition’s fourth round and ease pressure on under-fire manager Erik ten Hag.

The forward set up Diogo Dalot’s opener and played a big role in the the attack that led to a penalty-kick that Bruno Fernandes converted to seal an important win.
However, Sharpe insists the England international is still far off last season’s stunning form that led to a staggering 30 goals and 11 assists in 56 appearances.
The former midfielder can’t explain what led to that dip in form that has only seen the 26-year-old registering a mere three goals and six assists in 25 matches this term.
However, the ex-England international wasn’t happy with Rashford’s lack of “intent” and “purpose” in the first few minutes of the match.

The 52-year-old also criticised the United star for “strolling” when he should have been playing quickly.
Sharpe told SunSport on behalf of Fruityslots.com: “Last season, he was unbelievable.
“He was sort of a shining light when the manager came in and this season he doesn’t quite seem to have got up to pace.
“I don’t know whether it’s a confidence thing, whether he’s got something going on off the pitch that’s concerned him a little bit. But he doesn’t seem as focused as direct.

“I watched him last night and you know, after four or five minutes he touched the ball three or four times and not once did he sprint at the full-back or sprint in the game and [after] his first touch he stood someone up and tried to do a trick.
“And the guy’s tackled him [to send the ball out for a] throw in and Marcus Rashford just turn around and just stroll to get the ball and you’re thinking you know, [it’s] an FA Cup tie away at Wigan.
“The fans are going to be up there, the team will be up for it, Man United need to impose themselves, they need to play quick, they need to play with some authority. And just to walk towards the ball…
“You want them to declare intent and tend to show purpose and just to walk off the pitch… I don’t think lazy is the right word….

But Sharpe believes Rashford can turn things around at Man UtdCredit: Alamy
“I don’t know whether it was a bit of arrogance or whether he’s lacking in confidence or what it is, but he just doesn’t seem to be going past players.
“He seems to be second-guessing himself at times when he’s squared up two players. He’s an unbelievable player with so much ability.”
Nevertheless, Sharpe is confident Rashford will “turn it around” eventually.
However, such an elite player needs to set an example for his team-mates every time he’s on the pitch.
Sharpe added: “I’m sure he can turn it around. But we could do it internally and he’s one of the senior players now and you need to set an example for everyone else.

I’m a Man Utd fan and Sir Jim Ratcliffe needs to build Man Utd revolution around two stars – they’re priceless

As we approach the middle of January, many of the footballing headlines are about transfers.Who might leave the club? Who could come in? Can such-and-such do a ‘job’ on loan between now and June?

Alejandro Garnacho is starting to add end product to his flair and paceCredit: Alamy
The truth is, Manchester United may well have the answer to future success already in their squad.
Whatever happens to manager Erik ten Hag between now and next season, and whoever is eventually put in charge of the transfer strategy, one thing is abundantly clear: they must build the revolution around Alejandro Garnacho.
The academy graduate is everything United fans thought they were getting when they signed Antony from Ajax for £81.3m, in the summer of 2022.
If that’s a price marker, how much might Garnacho be worth in the future?
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
During the 2-0 FA Cup victory at Wigan, we saw his full explosive repertoire, and the disturbing news for opponents, is that he’s starting to find a devastating end product that works alongside the already established trickery and flair.
Garnacho has the potential to become a United great – the issue is, do United and Ineos have enough about them to match his talent and ambition? We won’t have long to find out.
They’ll have to make their intentions clear over the coming months because there are already envious looks in Garnacho’s direction from some of Europe’s top Champions League clubs, who see a player not only for the now, but one that will excel and get better in the future.
Players like Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo should be the future of Manchester United and shouldn’t be allowed to leave, whatever the offer.

Having joined at different times as youngsters, they’re a subtle nod to the traditions of United’s past, whilst also possessing the skill and presence to really make a mark in the modern game.
It hasn’t always been easy for Garnacho, who has had a couple of disciplinary issues on his path to being first-team regular.
But his focus appears sharper now, and his performances on the pitch are re-highlighting the fuss that surrounded him when he made his debut against Chelsea in April 2022.
Garnacho has also become Marcus Rashford’s biggest problem.
The Argentinian wizard is direct, tricky, poses a genuine goal threat, and is capable of dismantling the opposition defence at will.
At the moment, on the opposite flank and appearing mentally tired, Rashford seems to have lost his powers, cutting a forlorn figure, miles away from the high standards he set last season.
It remains to be seen what will happen to Rashford, but Garnacho is quickly developing into United’s most dangerous attacking asset.
It’s also easy to forget that he’s only in his second season in the United side and his first campaign since signing a mega-money contract.
If he’s capable of being unbelievable, consistently, why not play him as often as possible, and shape the coming years around him?

    Why not indeed…
I’m sure it’s not escaped Ten Hag or the new 25 per cent owners who are tasked with restoring United to greatness.

Hannibal has struggled for game time so far this season
And Old Trafford sources say he is close to agreeing a Goodison switch.
The source said: “Everton want the player and Manchester United are happy for him to go out on loan. They’d prefer him to stay in the Premier League as it will provide a better barometer and benchmark for his abilities as a player.
“If he can go out on loan to Everton and make an impression, he could force his way into content at United.
“He’s highly thought of at United and by Ten Hag, but he will get more chances at Everton. Sean Dyche is a big fan, and he thinks the player can give them a different edge to their game. He’s become the number one January priority.

“He also wants to bring in a striker and a full back. But loan deals are likely to be the road he goes down to beef up his squad.”

The Tunisian has been a regular in match-day squads this season but has struggled for minutes on the pitch and is eager to get further experience of first-team football.
United recently triggered a clause to extend Hannibal’s contract.

However, with United having been knocked out of the Champions League and the Carabao Cup, opportunities for Mejbri could be limited in the second half of the season.
