Nine stars Chelsea could be forced to sell as club fears they must raise £100m before ‘unofficial transfer deadline day’

CHELSEA’S rivals reckon the Blues may have to flog a host of players by June 30 in order to fall in line with FFP rules, according to reports. The Blues have spent north of £1bn on transfers since Todd Boehly’s takeover in 2022.

Results haven’t followed on the pitch, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side languishing in the bottom half of the table and being labelled “blue billion pound bottle jobs” by Gary Neville after Sunday’s Carabao Cup final defeat.
The Prem’s profit and sustainability rules have begun to take effect this season, with Everton having been deducted six points, reduced from an initial 10 yesterday.
In order to avoid falling foul like the Toffees did, Chelsea may be forced to sell a number of players, including key first teamers.
According to the Telegraph, the Blues’ Premier League rivals reckon that the West Londoners may have to desperately sell stars before the June 30 deadline in order to raise £100million.

This date falls mid-way through Euro 2024 and the Copa America, which could lead to a chaotic early summer window at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea insiders are claimed to feel relaxed about the situation, stressing that big sales will only be required in order to bring in more talent.
But the Blues’ rivals feel that their resolve will surely be tested.
The West Londoners’ woes will quickly be eased by the £28m owed to them by Newcastle for Lewis Hall, with the Toon having an obligation to buy in the youngster’s loan deal.

Forgotten man Romelu Lukaku agreed to a £37m release clause when he penned a new deal ahead of joining Roma on loan last summer.
With the Belgian, 30, having notched 16 goals so far this season, the Blues will hope to receive north of £30m for the striker they paid £99.5m to bring back to the club in 2021.
Inside Chelsea flop Mateja Kezman’s amazing mountain resort in Serbia
Ian Maatsen was allowed to join Borussia Dortmund on loan in January, having started just once in the Prem during the first half of the season.
Chelsea will hope to receive the 21-year-old’s £35m release clause in full this summer, should he leave on a permanent deal.
With regards to homegrown players when it comes to FFP calculations, there is no reduction in the value of sales because of the price of their initial contracts.
This could see captain and talisman Reece James be allowed to leave for a bumper fee this summer, particularly given his injury woes.
Should he become available Manchester City would likely show an interest, as they hunt a long-term Kyle Walker replacement.
In a similar boat to James could be stand-in skipper Conor Gallagher.
A Cobham product like James, Gallagher has attracted interest from Tottenham during the last two transfer windows.
The midfielder is happy at Stamford Bridge but is not close to penning a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in under 18 months.
Trevoh Chalobah, who has returned to fitness in recent weeks, could represent another homegrown sale, and has been the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest and Bayern Munich.

Armando Broja played 19 times for the Blues this season prior to joining Fulham on loan in January.
Should he play well for the Cottagers, Broja could command another sizeable fee at the end of the season.
Marc Cucurella has been arguably Boehly’s biggest flop, having arrived from Brighton in a bumper £62m deal in the summer of 2022.
He has never found his form at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues may try to cut their losses this summer.
Finally, Chelsea will try to find a permanent taker for goalkeeper flop Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Spaniard, 29, surprisingly joined Real Madrid on loan last summer.

He has struggled at the Bernabeu, however, and with Thibaut Courtois to return from an ACL injury, Kepa is unlikely to move to Madrid permanently.

Didier Drogba was confronted by YouTuber Sharky during a charity match
The Chelsea legend was put on the spot as he made a shock revelation
He led the Blues to four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League after a £24million move from Marseille in 2004.
But the one club who really suffered at the hands of Drogba were Arsenal.
Drogba scored 13 goals in 15 games against the Gunners, helping himself to 10 wins and just one defeat in the process.
And the Ivory Coast icon was confronted about his Arsenal record by YouTuber Sharky at the weekend.

West Ham 4 Brentford 2: Bowen scores stunning hat-trick to boost England hopes as Maupay sparks yet another row

JARROD BOWEN is on fire this season for West Ham – and he must hope England boss Gareth Southgate appreciates that.A wonderful hat-trick by red-hot Bowen on a chilly evening ensured the Hammers beat Brentford for the first time in the Premier League.

It was an even game but West Ham were more ruthless in front of goal
Bowen scored with all three of his shots against Brentford
Bowen’s stats were thoroughly impressive against Brentford
With 14 league goals this term, this is his best-ever scoring record across five seasons in the top flight.
A reminder that Bowen would bring plenty of energy, positivity and productivity to the England midfield set-up regardless of the illustrious competition he is up against.
And while he is expected to be called up for next month’s Three Lions squad to face Brazil and Belgium, the longer-term goal is going to the Euro 2024 finals.
It really did sting that he had to watch the 2022 Qatar World Cup finals from his sofa.
Whatever Southgate may think, Bowen, 27, is a superstar in the eyes of his boss David Moyes, who temporarily avoids the fans backlash he had in the previous two matches.
The Scotsman, 60, may have a new contract on the table but despite the Europa Conference League success, he has lost the support of the West Ham hardcore.
The banks and banks of empty seats told its own story as many voted with their feet.
Yet Moyes could not have hoped for a better beginning here, boosted by sloppy Brentford defending.

After a tackle on Brentford’s Frank Onyeka in midfield went unpunished, Lucas Paqueta found James Ward-Prowse, who then found Emerson.
The ball by the Italian full-back was controlled by Bowen with his right foot and then smashed home with his left – it was a wonderful quick-fire combination.
Fuming West Ham assistant Kevin Nolan has to be held back from Neal Maupay in tunnel row
Within the next two minutes, Dani Dyer’s other half doubled his tally as Brentford were punished for conceding possession.
Czech Vladimir Coufal supplied the delivery from the right and Bowen slotted home with an accomplished left-footed finish.
Bees forward Neal Maupay ensured West Ham would not celebrate a clean sheet when he pulled a goal back, latching on to an excellent through-ball by Keane Lewis-Potter.
Maupay is known for being a wind-up merchant and he was at it again, clashing with Hammers assistant coach Kevin Nolan before the start of the second half.
It was claimed on TV that Maupay had been outside the referee’s room and Nolan took exception to that.
At least Maupay offered more fight than teammate Ivan Toney, who might be on his way back into the professional game after his long betting ban, but was a peripheral figure.
Bowen, West Ham’s European hero, capped a superb evening on 63 minutes when he headed home a Kudus cross unmarked from six yards out.
Things got even better six minutes later when Emerson struck the ball beautifully with his left foot from distance – one of the club’s best goals the season.
Brentford, who cursed West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola for his brilliant saves from Onyeka and Toney, scored late on through Yoane Wissa, which survived a VAR offside check.
But following a fifth defeat in six matches, they are firmly in the relegation mix, especially after Everton’s points reprieve.
