Dawson, 32, is out of contract in the summer and despite highly rating him, Moyes could see this as an opportunity to cash in while they can.
Moyes first needs to decide whether his defence can cope without him, seeing as summer signing Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma have spent the past few weeks on the sidelines with injury.
The Scottish coach has hinted recently that despite spending around £160m in the summer, they could open to bringing in more new faces this month.
It is also unclear whether West Ham would be keen on strengthening a relegation rival, with just one point and two places separating them and Wolves at the bottom.

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui has had Max Kilman and Nathan Collins at the heart of his defence since taking the reins.
The ex-Sevilla boss would like to add another centre-back to his ranks following Conor Coady’s loan to Everton.
It is possible Wolves could be in the market for more talent as they look to drag themselves out of the relegation mire.
A stunning Boxing day win at Everton following by a hard-fought draw with Aston Villa has got the side off the foot of the table but they remain in the bottom three.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, Van Basten said: “It can become dangerous if you have too many Dutch people and things are not going well.

Weghorst’s prospective transfer hinges on whether Besiktas will allow him to terminate his loan from Burnley with them early to then move back on loan to United.
But the legendary forward voiced his “doubts” over whether he was the right fit for the club, and earmarked PSV star Luuk de Jong instead.
He added: “I have my doubts. Take a look at Luuk de Jong. That is really a striker that you can play through the air.
“I don’t think Weghorst is very strong in that regard. He can score a header, but he is more of a boy who can do something with his enthusiasm and force.”

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard offered Poland manager job after Aston Villa sacking

STEVEN GERRARD is being considered for a shock new role after being sacked by Aston Villa. The former Liverpool star has been approached by Poland to take over as a replacement for Czeslaw Michniewicz.

Gerrard excelled in his first job as manager when he led Rangers to a first Scottish title since 2011.
But he was less successful after leaving Ibrox for Aston Villa, where he secured a stodgy 14th place finish before starting this season poorly and getting sacked in October.
The ex-England star is seriously considering the offer, with Poland ready to iron out any issues.
The Polish FA are prepared to offer Gerrard a bumper salary, in the hope that the increase in sponsorship revenue the ex-midfield icon would bring would mean he effectively paid for himself.

Poland have also been given a boost by Gareth Southgate’s decision to stay on with England, meaning the Three Lions job will be off limits until at least next summer.
If Gerrard was to take the Poland job, he would link up with two of the players he managed at Villa Park – Jan Bednarek and Matty Cash.
Cash raised eyebrows when he switched international allegiance from England in 2021, being available to play for the Poles because his grandfather was from Gdansk.
Poland enjoyed statistically their best World Cup since 1982 in Qatar, as they progressed to the last 16 before losing to France.

But it wasn’t enough to save boss Michniewicz, whose ultra-defensive brand of football failed to endear him to the supporters.
He was also criticised by star striker Robert Lewandowski, who said: “The joy of the game is needed. It will be an important element, even in in the near future.”
A number of coaches have been linked with the manager’s job by the Polish press.
They include Roberto Martinez, who has since joined Portugal, Saudi Arabia boss Herve Renard and former Switzerland manager Vladimir Petkovic.

Besiktas are determined to keep hold of Weghorst, who is on loan in Turkey from Championship Burnley.
United are preparing a new offer for the 30-year-old ace.
But Sneijder, 38, can’t fathom why they would bother.

If United are to sign a Dutchman to play up front, however, Van Basten reckons they should go for former Newcastle flop Luuk de Jong, rather than Weghorst.
He added: “I have my doubts. Take a look at Luuk de Jong. That is really a striker that you can play through the air.
