However, fans noticed an error that resulted in Chelsea’s official Twitter account having to delete the initial post and re-write it, although it had already been seen by thousands.
The announcement showed Felix in a blue shirt for the first time and the upload welcomed “the artist” to Stamford Bridge.
They put a hashtag with it that read: “#HolaFelix”
The word ‘Hola’ means hello in Spanish, but Felix is Portuguese and they don’t speak the language of their neighbouring country.

Chelsea should’ve dropped the ‘H’ as the Portuguese for hello is ‘Olá’.
Fans picked up on the mistake, one said: “He’s Portuguese, not Spanish, you numbskulls. What is that hashtag?”
A second realised the gaffe: “‘Hola’ is Spanish, Joao Felix is Portuguese…”
One joked in reference to Jose Mourinho: “You’d think that a club whose most successful manager was Portuguese would know the difference.”

Felix joins Graham Potter’s side for a loan fee of £10million, the deal does not contain an option for Chelsea to make the switch permanent.
The player has extended his contract at Atletico for an extra year, meaning his deal now runs until 2027 at the LaLiga side.
The former Benfica star was supposedly on the wishlist of both Arsenal and Manchester United this month but snubbed them for the West Londoners.
Felix is hoping to rejuvenate his career after a tough year under Diego Simeone where he has started only 44 per cent of league games.
He joined Atleti back in 2019 for a massive £112million but he has failed to meet his potential, netting 34 times in 131 games. More

Joao Felix’s Chelsea shirt number revealed after loan transfer from Atletico Madrid as he hopes to break curse

CHELSEA have confirmed their fourth January signing with Joao Felix arriving on loan from Atletico Madrid for the rest of the season. The Portugal star completed his move to Stamford Bridge and will be hoping to get his first taste of Premier League action against Fulham on Thursday.

Felix joined his new Blues team-mates at training today, but he now faces an anxious wait to see whether he’ll be able to feature at Craven Cottage.
That’s because Graham Potter said they’re still waiting to see if he was registered in time.

Regardless, Chelsea have confirmed that the forward will wear No11.
Felix wears seven for Atletico, but that’s currently taken at the Bridge, so he’s decided to go with the same number as when he plays for Portugal.

But Blues supporters will be hoping he fares better than some of their previous No11s.
Timo Werner was the most recent and he endured a nightmare time at the club, scoring just TEN goals in 56 Prem games across two seasons.
Before that it was Pedro, who proved one of the club’s better signings in recent years – notably winning the Premier League and Europa League.
But the two prior to the Spaniard were Alexandre Pato, who played twice in an injury-hit loan spell in 2016, and Juan Cuadrado, who was moved on after one campaign.

The sum went towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation for kids with Ronaldo personally asking for the golden gong to be auctioned.
He wasn’t in attendance at the event so agent Jorge Mendes handed out the accolade.
It was the second of five times Ronaldo won football’s top individual prize with the most recent coming in 2017.

Albert Sambi Lokonga gives Mikel Arteta selection dilemma as nobody seems to know struggling Arsenal man’s best position

BY HALF-TIME at Oxford, the Arsenal fans bemoaned that many of the fringe players simply are not of the quality required for the team to sustain its title challenge. However, there seems to be one player singled out for criticism more than others – Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Albert Sambi Lokonga has struggled to make his mark at ArsenalCredit: Zuma Press
The Belgian midfielder was not alone in under-performing but there are reasons why the concern is amplified.
Fabio Vieira is younger and in his first campaign, and it is obvious to supporters what he may offer when he adds a bit of muscle.
Once supported by Granit Xhaka and Oleksandr Zinchenko in the second period, the young Portuguese showed his worth.
Rob Holding and Mohamed Elneny are universally accepted as not being quite at the level to play in Mikel Arteta’s first team, but both can step in and do a job and do not seem too frustrated at their lack of action.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
With Sambi Lokonga, though, we have an entirely different situation.
He has been vocal in his frustration, perhaps understandable if the reports are true that Arteta blocked a loan move to Burnley for a reunion with his old mentor Vincent Kompany.
However, from my perspective, the main issue with the young Belgian is that no one seems sure – the fans, the man himself or his coach – where his best position is.
Last season, in a more traditional 4-2-3-1, he played as both the deeper and more advanced pivot, showing us glimpses of talent in the two roles, but shining in neither.

Now, in the adapted 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3, Sambi Lokonga – or Arteta – has to decide whether he is cover for Thomas Partey or if he can handle the more advanced and creative role that Xhaka has made his own.
In the past, we have been blessed with cover players good enough to play anywhere in the midfield – Edu and Ray Parlour would be fabulous examples.
Either could come in for Patrick Vieira or Gilberto Silva, and often did, without any significant weakening of the team.
After the FA Cup win at Oxford, where the team’s performance improved after his withdrawal, I found it hard to decide what I felt was best for the player and the club.
Particularly as it is clear his manager sees Elneny as his first-choice cover for any Partey absence.
So, I decided to ask a few friends and conducted a Twitter poll, asking whether a loan might be an idea to improve Sambi Lokonga, or whether our supporters have seen enough, that he is not quite good enough and that Arsenal should look to sell.

Sambi Lokonga had little impact in the win at OxfordCredit: Getty
The results are interesting and some of the comments more so, but more than 63 per cent of the 3,215 to vote see merit in loaning Sambi Lokonga for a season.
It would be hard to see Arsenal allowing a January exit without bringing in a more experienced replacement and it was no surprise to see Sambi Lokonga’s compatriot Youri Tielemans mentioned.
Tielemans is obviously keen, and he can play anywhere in the midfield and Leicester are unlikely to reject a decent offer as he only has six months left on his Foxes contract.
Many of those in favour of Sambi Lokonga being sent on loan to get the regular football and confidence he needs have suggested Burnley.
In part, this may be that they showed an interest last summer, but it is more that those fans see Sambi Lokonga thriving and getting his mojo back under Kompany, who entrusted him with the captaincy of Anderlecht at such a young age.

Vincent Kompany could reignite his career at high-flying BurnleyCredit: PA
A few observed how well Charlie Patino is developing at Blackpool, starting every week in the Championship.
Others suggested perhaps a loan to Ligue 1 in France might suit him, in the way it so obviously has for Folarin Balogun.
Aged 23, the would-be accountants in our fanbase reckon that should Sambi Lokonga thrive on loan, his sell-on value could easily increase to more than the £15million the club paid for him in 2021.
In that sense, the loan option is a sensible economic one, aswell as having merits for the improvement of the player.
It would allow Arteta and his staff to watch Sambi Lokonga playing regularly in one position and to decide for good if he can play a part in Arsenal’s short-term ambitions.
Lastly, and not surprisingly after so many false dawns and limp displays, 36 per cent have seen enough and favour the club looking to sell now.
The general observation, as stated earlier, is that Sambi Lokonga is neither one thing nor another, lacking the creativity to play at No8, or the physicality and game reading to play as a No6.

I am sure Arteta, Edu and the staff are discussing this, just like the fans, and it will be fascinating to see what short-term plan is decided upon for Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Fans all say same thing after Enzo Fernandez’s passionate Benfica celebration as Chelsea refuse to give up on transfer

ENZO FERNANDEZ appeared to squash rumours linking him with a transfer to Chelsea, but it has not stopped Blues fans believing a transfer can be done. After scoring in Benfica’s 2-0 win against Varzim, Fernandez slapped the Benfica badge before pointing to the floor, insinuating his immediate future remained in Portugal.

Watch awkward moment Liverpool boss Klopp asks ex-Man City star Nedum Onuoha if he’s ever played football live on TV

JURGEN KLOPP awkwardly asked ex-Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha if he has “ever played football” during a tense interview. Liverpool were held 2-2 on the weekend in the FA Cup against Wolves, leaving manager Klopp less than impressed.
Jurgen Klopp had an awkward interview with Nedum Onuoha

And Onuoha, who retired in 2020 and now works for ESPN, had the tough task of speaking to the German afterwards.
But Klopp took exception to the line of questioning and at one point said: “I’m not sure if you’ve played football but these kind of things happen.”
Onuoha, in fact, made more professional appearances then Klopp!
He has played around the world with the likes of City, QPR and Real Salt Lake in the MLS.

ESPN compared his stats to Klopp during the Liverpool bosses playing days.
Onuoha made 426 appearances in total compared to Klopp’s 347.
And perhaps most damning of all, the ex-defender played in 232 top-flight games while Klopp had none.

So Onuoha did not want to make enemies of a modern great during their tense interview.
He said: “Do you know what? If he was in a good mood, I probably would have said something back.
“But he wasn’t in a good mood at all. And I thought for my first time interviewing someone so significant in world football, if I bit back it might turn into some sort of argument.
“So I thought there’s the content, I’ll let you guys enjoy it, and we’ll move on, get a bit more from him. I thought I did all right.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang offered chance of Chelsea transfer exit just months after move as Paul Merson says ‘he’s DONE’

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG could find himself on his way out of Chelsea just months after signing for the Blues from Barcelona. The 33-year-old has been linked with a transfer, while Paul Merson has claimed Aubameyang is “done” at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are desperate for goals and have today confirmed the signing of Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Aubameyang has netted just once in the Premier League this season and has fallen out of favour in recent games.
The former Arsenal man is now set to be even lower in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
And Atletico, now in need of a forward, have enquired about Aubameyang’s services.

That’s according to the Evening Standard, who say Aubameyang’s name was mentioned during negotiations for Felix.
However, the striker has not been made available for a transfer or loan move as of yet.
He is also unable to play for a third European club this season having already featured for Barcelona and Chelsea.
Nevertheless, Merson still reckons Aubameyang’s Chelsea career is as good as over.

Especially after Aubameyang was subbed off having come on for Raheem Sterling early in last week’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Merson wrote in his Sky Sports column: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was taken off after coming on as a substitute in the first game against Man City and I think he will now be moved on.
“I think they will cut their ties with him.
“As soon as you are sub-subbing a 30-something player, I think that is probably the end.
“Maybe you can get away with it with a younger player, but in football it’s one of those unwritten rules. It’s a don’t-do.
“But Potter did it with him at 33 and, for me, I think he’s done.” More

Chelsea draw up five-man shortlist for statement midfield transfer including Bellingham, Rice and Fernandez

CHELSEA have drawn up a five-man shortlist for a big name signing, reports suggest. It includes England duo Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice among other World Cup stars.

With the contracts of both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante expiring in the summer, The Telegraph have reported there are contrasting positions on new deals for them.
They report “positive talks” have been held for a new Kante deal, while Jorginho appears to be edging closer to the exit door.
This means an overhaul is desperately needed in central midfield.
And Todd Boehly, as well as transfer chiefs Christopher Vivell and Paul Winstanley, has drawn up their list of stars to replace them…
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
    Jude Bellingham
Bellingham is perhaps the most sought-after player in world football at the moment, so it makes sense that Chelsea would be linked with him.
However, regardless of Boehly’s “obsession” with him, the teenager appears destined to head to either Real Madrid or Liverpool – though a transfer is set to cost north of £100million.
    Declan Rice
Having once been a part of the Blues academy before rising to prominence at West Ham, Rice has been heavily linked with a move to a bigger team for many years.
Chelsea have been earmarked to rekindle his friendship with Mason Mount, but as it stands Arsenal are leading the race for the £88m-rated ace with his Hammers deal expiring in 18 months’ time.

    Enzo Fernandez
Enzo Fernandez has already been the subject of a bid from Chelsea, with reports suggesting a £79m-plus player offer was submitted to Benfica.
However, the bid was branded “disrespectful,” and any bid for Fernandez will now likely need to wait until the summer after Fernandez himself appeared to squash rumours of his exit with his latest goal celebration.

    Alexis Mac Allister
Fellow Argentine World Cup hero Alexis Mac Allister is a name familiar to Chelsea manager Graham Potter, and his good form has seen the Blues consider him for a transfer.
The Brighton star is not at the top of their list, but if Chelsea are genuinely interested they may need to move swiftly to beat the equally keen Arsenal or Tottenham to his signature.
Here’s how Alexis Mac Allister has performed for Brighton this season
    Moises Caicedo
The final name on Chelsea’s wishlist is another star who emerged under Potter at Brighton – 21-year-old Moises Caicedo.
Like Mac Allister, Caicedo is not top of the list, but he is arguably more in demand across European football with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester United all monitoring him. More
