He said: “Some of the decisions we’ve taken have been with the fans, all the managers who were driven out by the fans, not by me.

Delap scored three goals for The Potters, where his dad made his name for his famous throw-ins.
But the 19-year-old will spend the remainder of the season with rivals Preston.
Delap said: “I’m buzzing. It’s such a great club and I’m really excited to meet the boys and play in front of the fans.

Preston have brought starlet Delap in after losing striker Emil Riis for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Manager Ryan Lowe added: “Liam was one we targeted in the summer because of the work he’d done with City’s U23s and he had some input in the first team with a couple of goals, too.

The Ukraine giants are said to be holding out for around £88m.
Regardless, the Premier League leaders are believed to be closing in on his services, which would be a huge boost in their title bid.
The Gunners find themselves in a healthy position heading into Sunday’s North London derby.
But Mikel Arteta remains desperately short in attack beyond his starting trio.
Emile Smith Rowe made his comeback at Oxford on Monday, but Gabriel Jesus remains sidelined, leaving Arsenal with no genuine option off the bench heading into some key games.
Mudryk would provide stiff competition in the attacking areas.

Gabby Agbonlahor says he ‘RATTLED’ Jurgen Klopp as ex-Villa striker claims feud is reason for Liverpool’s Prem struggles

GABBY AGBONLAHOR has remarkably claimed his feud with Jurgen Klopp has contributed to Liverpool’s struggles so far this season. The former Aston Villa forward, 36, slammed Erik ten Hag back in August and subsequently saw his comments ridiculed by Klopp.

Agbonlahor then responded to the Reds head coach as tensions rose between the pair.
Five months on, Liverpool now sit sixth in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of the top four.
And Agbonlahor believes his spat with Klopp has gone some way to derailing the Merseyside club’s season.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Klopp only knew my first name, not my second name! He knew what he was doing.

“It’s that way of saying: ‘Oh, I don’t know who he is. What’s his name?’
“And ever since… 16 points behind Arsenal now. It’s not been the mentality monster season for Liverpool.
“I’m just saying, he’s been rattled and this season Liverpool haven’t been the same as they should be.”
He was then pressed on whether he thinks he rattled Klopp, to which he added: “Yeah”.

Klopp responded to Agbonlahor’s comments about Ten Hag back in August by saying: “I listened to Gabby…. He lost against us 6-0 in my first season and I don’t remember him being a mentality monster on the pitch.
“What he said on that show. I almost phoned in to tell him he has forgotten that he used to be a player. It was unbelievable.”
Agbonlahor hit back by posting a picture of him scoring at Anfield in Villa’s 1-0 win at Anfield in September 2014.
He then accused the German head coach of failing to motivate his players following a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in October.
Agbonlahor said: “Mr Mentality Monster, Jurgen, five games away from home without a win this season – can he only get them up for home games at a full Anfield?
“Can he not get his ‘mentality monster’ team up for away games? Because today was shocking from Liverpool. Every player apart from Alisson was below a five out of 10 today.”
Liverpool followed up their 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brentford with a 2-2 draw against Wolves in the third round of the FA Cup.
They will look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton. More

Tottenham’s Ben Davies praises Arsenal for sticking by Mikel Arteta – and says rivals’ season is motivating his side

TOTTENHAM defender Ben Davies has praised Arsenal for sticking by Mikel Arteta during the tough times – and says their rivals’ stellar season has been motivating Spurs.Arteta has guided the Gunners to the top of the table, having dropped just SEVEN points from their 17 league games so far.

But it was not always such plain sailing, particularly at the start of last season when a hat-trick of league defeats put Arsenal bottom of the Premier League, prompting some fans to call for Arteta’s head.
Arch-rivals Spurs will hope to inflict a second league defeat of the campaign on the Spaniard’s side when they host the North London derby on Sunday.
But Tottenham left-back Davies confessed to being impressed with the patience shown by the Gunners board.
The Welshman said: “Clearly, what Arteta has done there has been very good.

On watching their neighbours shine, Davies added: “It’s just extra motivation for us. They’re playing well.
“They look like a very good side at the moment.
“They’re giving every team they play against tough games but we just want to focus on ourselves right now and hopefully at the end of the season we’re there or thereabouts.”
Spurs go into the powder-keg fixture 11 points off Arsenal, having played a game more.
A victory for the white side of North London would be a huge boost to their top-four prospects.
They have had a free week to prepare for the game too which has been a rarity this term.

Antonio Conte’s men benefitted from there regularly being seven days between games in the second half of last season.
It led to them pipping Arsenal to fourth despite being four points behind them with three games to go.
Davies claimed the extra time to work is crucial because it gives Conte a chance to work his magic in training.
The 29-year-old explained: “When we do have the time on the training pitch, we have a world-class manager who can really whip us into shape when we have that time.
“Whenever you have time on the training pitch, your ideas will become more clear.
“You’ll become probably technically better knowing this is our plan going into the game.
“It’s more about the time that we get and we know that in football now, with games every three days, it’s not always easy to do that.”
The next few weeks could go a long way to defining Tottenham’s season.

After Arsenal, they face Manchester City twice in the league, with a trip to in-form Fulham  and an FA Cup clash at Preston sandwiched in between.

Davies commented: “When you play against the big teams you can look at it in two ways.
“You can either look at it as being tough or as an opportunity to bounce up the table and that’s the way we want to see it.” More

Ex-Premier League player Richard Rufus jailed for scamming family and friends out of £15m to maintain lavish lifestyle

A FORMER Premier League footballer has been jailed for scamming friends and family out of £15million to maintain his lavish lifestyle.Richard Rufus pretended to be a successful foreign exchange trader to convince his trusting victims to invest.
Richard Rufus has been convicted of fraudCredit: Central News
But the ex-Charlton star, 47, lost the cash “hand over fist”.
He used £7million of the total £15million to pay back investors in a pyramid scheme, while around £2million was used for his own purposes.
This meant Rufus was able to “maintain a lifestyle of a footballer” long after he was forced to retire in 2004.
The centre-back enjoyed the “trappings of wealth” and drove a flash Bentley and wore a Rolex.

Rufus has now been jailed for seven-and-a-half years after being convicted of three counts of fraud and two counts of money laundering related offences.
He will have to serve half of his sentence before being released on licence.
Sentencing today, Judge Dafna Spiro told him: “The victims of this fraud are haunted by your actions.
“The people who invested did so in good faith, they believed your spiel because they thought you were the real deal.

“You were robbing Peter to pay Paul.
“You were living a lie at the expense of others.”
Southwark Crown Court heard how Rufus lived in a five-bedroom home on a private estate in leafy Purley, South London.
As a result, he spent nearly £700,000 over five years on mortgages and loans.
The ex-footballer also splurged £200,000 on motoring costs – including £70,000 to Mercedes Benz Finance, a further £45,000 to the car company and over £46,000 to Land Rover,
He transferred £222,468.11 to his wife, Simone Rufus and £158,513.86 to a joint account he held with her.
The only legitimate income Rufus received was £850-a-month rent he earned on a property in Surrey.
Lucy Organ, prosecuting, said: “He scammed friends, family and associates out of millions of pounds by pretending he was able to offer a low-risk investment in the foreign exchange market.
“He claimed he had significant success with his strategy in the past.
“Mr Rufus took over £15million in total. He traded some of it, as I have said, losing vast amounts, but that wasn’t the end of the fraud.
“Of that money, about £2million he never even transferred to foreign exchange trading accounts. He used this money partly to prop up the losses that his scams were making.
“Making payments back to other investors to continue the pretence that they were making a good investment, a so-called ‘pyramid scheme’ and partly simply for his own benefit, treating the money he received from investors as his own.”
Rufus duped investors by claiming he could return their original capital within 14 days of them asking.
One victim paid between £8,500 and £12,500 and was told he could make potential profits of £425 a month.
He only realised his money had been lost when Rufus’ home was re-possessed while he was fitting a new carpet there.
The victim said: “I got very numb. I was still hoping, more than believing, that there was a slim chance what he was telling me was true.
“I was always in limbo as to what was happening next. He always insisted the money would be available but I never received any money.”
Even when his accounts were frozen by the the Financial Services Agency in 2011, Rufus continued the alleged scam by taking more money from investors.
He used the cash he received for his own gain and to pay fake profits to his investors.
Rufus earned six England Under-21 caps during his career.
The centre-back played solely for Charlton and made 288 appearances after his debut in 1994 aged 19.
His first-ever senior goal came in the Addicks’ historic win over Sunderland in 1998 in the play-off final at Wembley.
Rufus’ goal forced the game into extra time – with Charlton’s win on penalties securing them promotion to the Premier League.
He retired through injury in 2004 and was later inducted into the club hall of fame at The Valley.
Roger Makanjuola of the CPS said: “Rufus acted in a selfish manner without any concern for his victims.
“He took advantage of his status as a professional athlete, a respected church member and he used the goodwill of his family and friends to scam them and associates out of millions of pounds by falsely claiming he was able to offer a low-risk investment in the Foreign Exchange Market.
“He claimed that he had been successful with his investment strategies previously, but the investments were fraught with risk and he lost his victims’ much needed money to the amount of £15million.
    Read More on The Sun
“While making these huge losses he put approximately £2million into his personal accounts, allegedly for the purposes of investment but this was never transferred over to his trading account.
“We now commence confiscation proceedings to seek to recover his ill-gotten gains”
Rufus played for Charlton Athletic More
