Inside Man Utd revamp plans including DEMOLISHING Old Trafford in £1bn rebuild and new £2bn stadium after Glazers sell

MANCHESTER UNITED’S plans to upgrade Old Trafford include DEMOLISHING the stadium and building a new £2billion state-of-the-art venue. The Red Devils have been presented with two options for expanding their home ground.

One involves a £1bn investment to improve the existing 74,000-seater Theatre of Dreams.
According to The Mail, this would likely include increasing the capacity and reinventing the corporate hospitality sector.

And then there is the more drastic option which is to build an entirely new ground.
This would reportedly cost close to £2bn, with the building of the stadium taking place on the land which surrounds Old Trafford – an area already owned by the club.

Man Utd would be able to carry on playing at their 112-year old home while the new ground was being constructed.
Consultants Legends International and Populous, who led the building of Spurs’ incredible Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, were hired by Man Utd to carry out their assessments.
Now they are complete and both proposals have been put to the Red Devils.
No costs have been confirmed, but there are indications of the magnitude of the investment needed.

However, no new plans are expected to be agreed upon until the club has new owners.
The Glazers revealed towards the end of 2022 that they are looking for outside investment.
This could lead to a complete change in ownership, with United chiefs hiring Raine Group – the investment bankers who helped with the sale of Chelsea – to find a suitable deal.
Speaking last month, Avram Glazer said: “It’s not necessarily a sale, it’s a process and we’re going forward with the process, so we’ll see what happens.”
Chelsea were sold to American Todd Boehly for £4.25bn in May last year.

Antony and Riyad Mahrez feature in the best Dream Team XI of Game Week 17

IT’S a strong start for Dream Team gaffer Toby Hemming in his quest to win a PlayStation 5 via January’s Monthly competition. His XI ‘Last Minute’ racked up 122 points in Game Week 17, more than any other active team.
There’s still a way to go before the PS5 is claimed but let’s take a closer look at Toby put himself in pole position in the last week.
    An eclectic bunch!
As you can see, Toby thought outside the box and that all started with Fulham’s second-choice goalkeeper Marek Rodak (£1.4m), who returned eight points from a rare run out against Hull in the FA Cup.
Tailoring your XI to a specific Game Week in hope of earning mega gains is a perfectly viable tactic and Toby has pulled it off superbly here.
Although there’s nothing funky about an all-Newcastle defence given the Magpies boast the best defensive record in the Premier League this season.
Saying that, Eddie Howe’s men suffered a shock defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the cup but normal service was resumed when the first-choice XI was reunited for the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Leicester in midweek.
Toby actually missed out on Dan Burn’s (£4.3m) goal against the Foxes but his other Toon defenders combined for 18 points in Game Week 17.
Rarely spotted in the wildCredit: getty
Bruno Guimaraes (£3.6m) enjoyed his third-best Game Week of the campaign, registering 11 points.
The Brazilian midfielder scored Newcastle’s consolation goal against the Owls and made it back-to-back 7+ ratings with an assured display against the Foxes.
    Most read in Dream Team
Backing the right Man City midfielders is no simple task due to Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy but Toby got it spot on this past week as Riyad Mahrez (£5.5m) and Phil Foden (£5m) combined for 28 points.
The Algerian winger scored a brace in his side’s 4-0 win over Chelsea, an effort that earned him the Star Man award, while the England youngster scored one of his own and was credited with an assist for winning one of the converted penalties.
Toby would have expected further returns from the Citizens but they were upset by Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
It has to be said that Antony’s (£3.8m) inclusion proved to be a masterstroke.
The Brazilian has blown hot and cold in Man United colours since his big-money move from Ajax but he scored the opening goal in both the Red Devils’s cup games (Everton, Charlton) in Game Week 17 for a 16-point return.
Antony’s best week in a Man United short yetCredit: getty
Up top, it was a rare fallow week for Erling Haaland (£8.8m) but his ownership is so high (74.1%) that it almost doesn’t matter how many points he gets as pretty much every gaffer chasing glory has him in their team.
In contrast, Marcus Rashford (£5.4m) filled his boots with three goals and an assist across his two fixtures for a 28-point haul.
Old Trafford’s No10 has banked a whopping 61 points since returning from the World Cup – he’s Dream Team’s most in-form asset!
Last but not least, Mohamed Salah (£8.8m) scored his 16th goal of the season in Liverpool’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Wolves for a eight-point return.

There have been fewer headlines written about the Egyptian this term but he’s amassed 149 points to date – a legendary Dream Team asset.
Excellent work, Toby, good luck to you and all gaffers ahead of Game Week 18. More

Everton ‘firm up loan transfer offer’ for Man Utd winger Anthony Elanga but will have to ship out players first

EVERTON look to ramp up their offer for Anthony Elanga as they remain eager to bring in the Manchester United winger.Frank Lampard’s side have see a continuation of their poor form from last season, leaving them 18th in the table and in much need of quality reinforcements.
Elanga has only started five times under Erik Ten Haag this seasonCredit: PA
Elanga has been sought after by the Merseyside outfit since the beginning of last season, and it finally looks like they could get their man.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton have ‘firmed up’ their offer for the Manchester United player looking to bring in him on an initial loan deal.
In order to complete the deal however, the Toffee’s will need to let go of some of their current roster with Abdoulaye Doucoure, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate just some of the names who look to be on their way out.
Elanga made his competitive debut for the Red Devils in May 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and has since registered 47 appearances for the side.

Yet it was under Ralf Rangnick where the 20-year-old had his most impressive spell, becoming a regular in the team
Since the arrival of Erik Ten Haag however, the Swede has fallen back down the pecking order.
With the emergence of teammate Alejandro Garnacho, Elanga has only managed to find his way into the starting 11 just five times this season.
Despite the interest from Everton, it is understood that there are some other Premier League teams who are keen to pursue the young winger.

Although if Lampard can complete the deal for Elanga, it will see their third forward signing since the start of the season, joining Neil Maupay and Dwight McNeil.
Even with their new look forward line-up, Everton have only managed to find the net 14 times in the league this season, the third lowest of all 20 teams.
The Goodison Park faithful will be hoping the potential introduction of Elanga will bring some much needed quality and goals for the side. More

Chelsea fans saw the pass to Felix but Mount opted to go wide
Blues supporters were angry at their side following the loss – which came after debutant Felix was sent off with the score at 1-1.
But the Atletico Madrid loanee was not the one on the end of a barrage of criticism after the match.
Felix impressed before his 58th-minute dismissal and was arguably Chelsea’s best player.
He showcased several moments of superb quality, one of which came in the form of a deft flick to Mount in the middle of the park.

But the Chelsea faithful were then frustrated as Mount did not slide Felix through after the Portuguese international had made an excellent run beyond the Fulham backline.
Reacting to the clip, one person said: “Felix was making a run and Mount passed a different route… I wanted to scream!!”
Another added: “That pass should have gone back to Joao Felix!”
A third said: “Listen, I don’t care what camp you are in, but can we all agree that Mason Mount isn’t a fantastic creator.

“Misses opportunities for passes that would send his team-mates right through on goal, like that Felix one there.”
And a fourth responded: “Felix literally did a turn and nutmeg, played it off to Mount, made a great run and Mount didn’t even look up, had his head down and just passed to the side.
“I can’t tell you how infuriating this is.”
Fulham striker Carlos Vinicius scored the winning goal 15 minutes after Felix’s sending off.
The result sees even more pressure heaped on Potter as Chelsea sit 10 points adrift of the top four and just three above 11th placed Aston Villa in the Premier League table.
The Blues will now seek a second win in 10 league games when they host Crystal Palace on Sunday.
But Felix, who has joined on loan until the end of the season, will not be available as he is now suspended for three games.
And Potter suffered another selection below during the Fulham defeat as midfielder Denis Zakaria went off with a thigh injury. More
