Chelsea ‘launch £27m Noni Madueke transfer bid’ as they look to unite PSV Eindhoven winger with Mykhailo Mudryk

CHELSEA have made PSV Eindhoven an offer to sign winger Noni Madueke, according to reports.Talks began earlier this week with the Dutch club informing Chelsea Madueke is not for sale.

But that has not deterred Chelsea from making a bid worth £27million, report ESPN, hours before the Blues officially announced the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk on an eight-and-a-half year deal..
Graham Potter is believed to be a big fan of Madueke and first registered an interest in the wonderkid while he was at Brighton.
Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell also tried to sign the former Tottenham youngster while he worked for RB Leipzig.
PSV are reluctant to let the 20-year-old leave after selling prized asset Cody Gakpo to Liverpool earlier this month for £37m.

Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy is hoping to hold onto Madueke but accepts he might leave this month.
He said: “I know of the interest in Noni.
“I’d rather not have that, but it’s not something I decide. The fact that there’s a lot of interest in him is of course due to his quality and his performances. But I do find it worrying.
“We will certainly do everything we can [to keep him.] But you also know that things can change real quick if the interest heats up.

“As a club, you’ve got to be ready and have replacements lined up because if he leaves it would mean that we lose another player this winter.
“I’ve already indicated earlier what my wish was: that no player would leave in the winter break. That also applied to Gakpo and that applies to every player. As a coach, you just want to keep your best players, that’s clear.
“But there can also be situations like with Cody [Gakpo], where a certain type of club comes with a certain offer. Then it might be that it’s no longer possible to stop the deal from taking place. I hope that’s not going to be the scenario this time, but I can not exclude it.” More

And he took up a spot in a VIP box to watch the Blues take on Palace as Graham Potter’s side look to end their dismal run.
Mudryk has reportedly passed his medical and agreed an eight-and-half year contract with the club.
Prior to his official unveiling Chelsea’s official Instagram account added Mudryk’s username to their bio, while Shakhtar also toyed with fans by posting a cryptic tweet.
Arsenal had hoped to sign Mudryk but had two bids rejected by the Ukrainian side.

Mudryk was aware of their interest and dropped several hints that he wanted a move to The Emirates.
The 22-year-old even shared a ‘prayer’ emoji while Arsenal were believed to be preparing a third bid.
That came after Mudryk shared photos of himself watching Arsenal take on West Ham and Brighton and called Mikel Arteta a “great manager”.
But Chelsea hijacked the deal and Mudryk has agreed terms and is set to sign a seven-year deal.

Piers Morgan slams ‘weak’ Arsenal over Mudryk transfer ‘fiasco’ as fans rage after being gazumped by Chelsea

PIERS MORGAN has revealed his frustrations after Arsenal appeared to be beaten to the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk.Chelsea look set to confirm the 22-year-old as their latest star name after agreeing a stunning £97million transfer.

Arsenal had been patiently negotiating with Shakhtar Donetsk to secure the signature of their long-term target.
But the Blues blasted their rivals out of the water and look set to pay nearly £100m for the Ukrainian winger.
Sun columnist and Arsenal fan Piers has taken aim at his “weak” club over their approach.
He tweeted: “I’m irrationally annoyed about this Mudryk fiasco.

“If Arsenal want to win the League this season, we can’t faff around for weeks on key targets and then get outflanked/outbid at the last minute. Looks weak.
“We must buy another top class striker asap.”
Earlier, Piers had also tweeted: “How can this be happening? Ridiculous that Arsenal let this transfer saga drag on so long we’ve apparently ended up losing him.”
The TV personality was far from the only Gunners fan who was left fuming by yesterday’s developments.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “We were offering him a £35k a week contract. Which is so Arsenal. Chelsea have offered him a lot more. An awful lot more.
“Can’t blame the player, blame Edu for not getting this done ages ago.”
Another said: “Edu just got his pants pulled down and got taught a lesson on what happens when you take the p*** with transfers lol nothing more to add.”
But some Chelsea supporters were also baffled by the latest splurge of cash under the new ownership led by Todd Boehly.
The Blues have been by far the busiest Premier League team in January so far and Mudryk would be the fifth signing of the window.
Along with the loan signing of Joao Felix, the Blues have also bought in the impressive young defender Benoit Badiashile for £35m.
And they have recruited 20-year-old striker David Datro Fofana and teenage Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos.
These deals come on top of a dizzying summer transfer window which saw Chelsea buy over £270m worth of talent.

Arsenal well placed for first league win at Tottenham in almost a decade but must prevent late show from Conte’s men

ARSENAL will head to Spurs with a point to prove after suffering their darkest day in last season’s North London derby. The Gunners were beaten 3-0 and ultimately went on to throw away a Champions League spot, as Antonio Conte’s side sneaked into fourth.
Arsenal have got themselves to the summit of the table and will believe they can secure a first win at Tottenham since 2014Credit: Getty
But this time they turn up as league leaders, and face a club where all is not well.
Rivals Spurs have been perennially slow starters, conceding the first goal in ten straight games before their 4-0 win at Crystal Palace last week.
And the Gunners know that with frustration building at owner Daniel Levy and Conte demanding more signings, they have a great chance to get the Tottenham fans to turn.
By the same token however, Arsenal will need to be on it from start to finish as Conte’s teams are known for providing late fireworks.

Ashley Young, who played under the Italian at Inter, said: “You could tell in games when teams would stay with us until half-time and then around the 60th minute you would see them drop off because they couldn’t deal with our fitness.
“We would kick on again and there were so many times we got late goals.”
Conte’s Spurs have been no exception, scoring 17 second half goals in their last ten games.
And Arsenal will also be mindful of their own game after being frustrated in a 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle and letting Man City back into the title race.

It remains to be seen what approach Arteta will take temperamentally after being charged for player disorder in both their last two matches – against Newcastle and Oxford.
Senior players like Granit Xhaka are likely to be key in deciding when to turn up the heat on the opposition and the officials, and when to calm things down.
Sparks are likely to fly as the fiery Swiss captain and Tottenham’s equally hot-headed Dane Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg meet in midfield.
But it is in the centre of the pitch where Arsenal will hope the creativity of Xhaka, Odegaard and potentially even Emile Smith Rowe off the bench can give them the upper hand.
If they fail to win that battle, and Spurs are able to get Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and the potentially-returning Dejan Kulusevski into the game then it may be the home fans celebrating at full time.

Chelsea all but confirm £97m Mykhailo Mudryk transfer with bizarre Instagram hint after gazumping Arsenal

CHELSEA can’t contain their glee over beating Arsenal to £97million Mykhail Mudryko – judging by their odd behaviour on Instagram. The Blues are already following the Shakhtar Donetsk winger and urged fans to “show him some love” – even though his arrival is not yet official.
Chelsea’s Instagram post about Mudryk appeared brazen
Chelsea gave a massive nod to suggest they’ve won the race for Mykhailo Mudryk by adding his handle to their bio
Arsenal thought they had the Ukraine international in the bag but were hoping his club would reduce their sky-high demands.
Mudryk, 22, had even regularly teased a moved to the Emirates himself on social media.
But Chelsea gazumped them at the last minute with a stunning £97million offer to take their jaw-dropping January spending past £150m.
And they were quick to rub it in to their London rivals, by adding the winger’s Instagram handle to their official page’s bio – even though the deal is not yet official.

They then urged fans to get involved as they posted a picture of their incoming star roaring with delight, alongside the words: “Drop @mmudryk10 a message to show some love!”
That plea, though, sparked a hostile reaction from many followers.
One replied: “Chelsea is embarrassing right now, We all know he wants to go to Arsenal we’re even putting him on our bio trying to get him to sign w/us is absolutely low.
“If you don’t want to join us we must not sign you no matter the talent. this is not the Chelsea I know.”

Another said: “This club ruins young talent like no other.”
A third fan was even more brutal: “Feel bad for him. He deserves better than coming here and lose every week.”
And how about this for pessimism? “I wish you the best of luck with no European football next season. Yet another career ruined. Come on you Blues.”
But of course some supporters did rally round as they anticipate soon watching one of Europe’s most exciting talents.
One wrote: “Admin on fire tonight . We are Chelsea Football Club.”
Mudryk is said to have accepted a seven-and-a-half year contract at Stamford Bridge, despite previously stating his preference was Arsenal.
The Gunners agreed personal terms but are understood to have bowed out of the bidding war after having two offers rejected.
It means Mudryk will follow in £35m centre-back Benoit Badiashile, £10m striker David Datro Fofana and wideman Joao Felix, whose half-season loan from Atletico Madrid is also costing the Blues £10m. More

Crystal Palace to launch new transfer bid for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher as England midfielder drops down pecking order

CRYSTAL PALACE will make one final bid for Conor Gallagher before January’s window shuts.Eagles boss Patrick Vieira wants his former loan star back.

And Palace’s money men would find the funds to sign the fan favourite from Chelsea.
The England midfielder, 22, has been shunted round the Blues side in different positions since he went back to Stamford Bridge last summer.
And he may go further down the pecking order soon as Graham Potter searches for more reinforcements.
Gallagher is still committed to making it at his boyhood club and that may be the biggest obstacle to progress for Palace.
    Read More on Chelsea
Vieira wants an extra midfielder and if Gallagher says no then he may have to go elsewhere and that door closes.
Palace are also sweating on their chances of re-signing long-term target Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Manchester United can now ask for a fee after the right-back’s recent run in the side raised his profile.
The Eagles were counting on a loan move until that development but it would be a stretch to buy him now and match his Old Trafford wages.

And another Palace target Danny Ings is ready to tough it out at Aston Villa until the end of the season.

The striker, 30, is also wanted by Everton but a loan request has been rebuffed with a sale a possibility.
And the experienced star is happy to give it a go at Villa Park under still relatively new boss Unai Emery and then see what happens in the summer.
Villa could move other players out for the right price, with left-back Lucas Digne’s place now under threat by the signing of Real Betis’ Alex Moreno. More

Newcastle’s defence is a brick wall as they mount top four bid… but my pals Shearer and Ginola would have beaten them

NEWCASTLE legend Steve Howey cannot think of too many teams capable of scoring goals against Eddie Howe’s mean machine. But he knows one which would not have had a problem — Kevin Keegan’s Entertainers.

But Newcastle hero Howey is adamant Alan Shearer and co would beat Eddie Howe’s sideCredit: Getty
Howey said:  “Look, that Newcastle defence is excellent. They’ve been like a brick wall at times.
“But would they have shut out the team we had with Kevin? I don’t think so.
“Come on — David Ginola and Peter Beardsley creating chances for Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer with Tino [Asprilla] coming off the bench? This team is good but not THAT good!”
Howey, though, is a big fan of the current Newcastle crop, who go into Sunday’s home game against Fulham boasting the best defensive record in the Premier League.

And he is fulsome in his praise of Howe, who has transformed a traditionally leaky backline into one of the sturdiest ever seen at St James’ Park.
He added:  “At this rate, they’ll get their own label like we did with The Entertainers.
“How about the So Solid Crew because that’s what they are?
“I’ve spoken to a few people in the game who’ve witnessed Eddie’s training sessions and they’re blown away by the intensity and how clever they are.

“Not too many teams have looked like penetrating that back four of Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Dan Burn.
“And even when they do, they’ve still got to beat Nick Pope, who’s been in terrific form.
“But don’t underestimate the job of those in front of them.
“Miggy Almiron works his backside off to help the defence and how many times does Joelinton get that little nick on the ball to break up an attack?
David Ginola and Peter Beardsley creating chances for Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer with Tino [Asprilla] coming off the bench? This team is good but not THAT good!Steve Howey
“We had Ginola in front of John Beresford and myself and as everyone knows he did not like to defend in any shape or form.
“The two of us told him we were quite happy to pick up the slack if he did the business going forward.
“The great thing about this Newcastle side is that they are working well at both ends of the pitch.
“That’s why you can’t rule out a top-four finish or even winning the Carabao Cup.”
Which would mean them eclipsing the achievements of Keegan’s side almost 30 years ago.
Howey added: “I guess the big difference between us is that while we always looked like scoring goals, they never look like conceding any.
Newcastle have the best defence in the Premier League this seasonCredit: Getty
“Mind you, Kevin wouldn’t have liked the fact the last two league games against Leeds and Arsenal ended goalless.
“Of course, he’d have been pleased with the clean sheets but he’d always remind us we were in the entertainment business and our job was to go out there and entertain the fans — and the best way to do that is by scoring goals.”

So the $64million question: What would have happened if Keegan’s Irresistible Force came up against Howe’s Immovable Object?
Howey declared: “Ah that’s an easy one. We’d have won. Mind you, it would be a great game!” More
