Newcastle looking to offload Ryan Fraser and Karl Darlow this month as Eddie Howe looks to get wages off books

NEWCASTLE UNITED have reportedly made two stars available for transfer as Eddie Howe looks to trim their wage bill. The Magpies are flying high and sit third in the Premier League after yesterday’s last-gasp win over Fulham.

Despite the wealth of the club’s Saudi owners, the club is wary of the top-flight’s Financial Fair Play rules and will not be splashing the cash this month.
However, Howe wants to bring in a defensive midfielder before the end of the transfer window to bolster their push for Champions League football.
He already has 27 senior players at Newcastle and is only able to register 25 of those for the second half of the campaign.
Therefore in order to ease the wage bill and make room for a new addition they realise there must be outgoings.

The Athletic are reporting that Scottish international winger Ryan Fraser, 28, and goalkeeper Karl Darlow, 32, are the two they are hoping to offload.
Fraser is allegedly viewed as Newcastle’s “most sellable asset” and he asked to leave during the summer.
Both Southampton and Bournemouth were keen on him but the failure to sign a replacement wideman scuppered his hopes of departing.
Fraser has only started three top-flight matches this term, with his last outing coming in October.

Howe is now reportedly “reluctant to risk him” for the remainder of this month in case he picks up an injury that jeopardises the prospect of a sale.
It also adds that even though they would prefer a permanent transfer, they would also consider a loan deal.
Meanwhile, Darlow is now one of five senior goalies on the books at St. James’ Park after Martin Dubravka returned from his loan at Manchester United and is free to leave too. More

Fan edits Marcus Rashford OUT of Bruno Fernandes’ controversial goal for Man Utd vs City and it changes everything

However, City fumed that Marcus Rashford, who was in an offside position, interfered with play.
Fernandes took the ball off Rashford’s feet to net the equaliser after Jack Grealish had headed City in front.
The goal was initially ruled out for offside, before referee Stuart Attwell deemed Rashford had not interfered with play – leaving City supporters fuming.
Now a Twitter user has edited Rashford out of the shot to show how the play would have been different if the United forward wasn’t there.

The argument is it changes everything.
It’s suggested City defender Manuel Akanji would have been able to get to the ball ahead of Fernandes if Rashford hadn’t been there.

It’s also claimed Ederson’s positioning would have been entirely different if he knew Fernandes would be the one shooting.
Therefore they argue Rashford was indeed interfering with play and the goal should have been chalked off.

Minutes later, Rashford himself turned home Alejandro Garnacho’s cross to give United a famous win and spark wild celebrations.
City defender Akanji was left fuming by the decision, telling the BBC: “To be honest the first goal is a joke.
“I saw Rashford, he was clearly offside, so I played him offside.
“He runs until the last second and he stops when the ball is in front of him and he’s right in front of Eddy [Ederson], ready to score the goal because Bruno Fernandes is shouting him.
“I understand he doesn’t touch the ball but he’s running for 30 metres and until the last second. For me it is clearly offside.
“The referee doesn’t even look at the situation, it got explained at the start of the year this would be clearly offside.”
However, PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited), the body responsible for match officials, said Rashford did NOT impact Akanji.
It was revealed on NBC Sports: “PGMOL have gotten back to us and have said no touch on the ball, no impact on the defender, and therefore they [VAR] could find no reason for a clear and obvious error.
“According to the PGMOL, they say [Rashford] didn’t impact the defender and he didn’t touch the ball and therefore Rashford was OK to do what he did and allow Fernandes to come onto the ball and score.”

The 22-year-old was at Stamford Bridge yesterday in a VIP box to watch his new teammates beat Crystal Palace 1-0.
Chelsea confirmed the transfer in a statement and Mudryk has signed an incredible eight-and-a-half year deal.

It is understood Chelsea will pay £62m up front, with up to £26m in performance-related add-ons, taking the potential total to an eye-watering £88m.
Now Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov has provided full details of the transfer package, revealing the Premier League club have agreed to play them in a friendly in Donetsk as part of the deal.

And Akhmetov is also giving £20.5m of the transfer fee to Ukrainian soldiers to help them fight the invading Russian troops in their homeland.
Akhmetov said: “FC Shakhtar has signed a final agreement with Chelsea FC and thus Ukrainian footballer Mykhaylo Mudryk will continue his career with the Blues in the strongest national championship, the English Premier League.
“First and foremost, I want to thank the entire civilised world for helping Ukraine.
“Today we are able to talk about Ukrainian football thanks to the Ukrainian army, the Ukrainian people, and the tremendous support of the entire civilised world. Only by joining efforts we will defeat the evil that has come to our homes.

“I have never made it a secret that my dream is to win European trophies. This means that players like Mudryk should be invited to our club, to our Ukrainian championship, and we should win European trophies with such players, rather than root for them, even when they play in the world’s top clubs.
“Unfortunately, it is impossible now, as Ukraine is fighting the horrendous and unjust war waged against us by the Russian Federation. But I am confident that we will win.
“And we will play a friendly against Chelsea at Donbass Arena in a Ukrainian Donetsk.”
Akhmetov added: “That is why I have made a decision to launch the Heart of Azovstal, a project designed to help Mariupol defenders and the families of fallen soldiers. Their acts of bravery are unparalleled in the modern history.
“I am allocating $25 million [£20.5m] today to help our soldiers, defenders, and their families. The money will be used to cover different needs — from providing medical and prosthetic treatment and psychological support to meeting specific requests.
“To ensure transparency, the project will have a professional independent team that will be in touch with the Azovstal defenders, their families, care providers, and volunteers.”
After signing on the dotted line, Mudryk said: “I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea.
“This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career.
“I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.”
Mudryk held a Ukrainian flag as he was officially unveiled on the pitch on Sunday – less than a year since Russian Roman Abramovich’s reign in charge ended after his country’s invasion of their neighbours in February 2022.

He announced his intention to sell Chelsea, the club he had owned since 2003, the following month following sanctions from the UK government.
That led to Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital taking over and launching their big-spending spree on new signings.

Colwill could be included in the squad after impressing Southgate with his performances for Brighton, report The Athletic.
The defender is on loan at the Seagulls from Chelsea and though he has had to remain patient for game time, he has started each of Brighton’s last five league games.
Brighton thrashed Liverpool 3-0 on Saturday and have also beaten Everton and Southampton heavily in recent weeks.
And Colwill’s form has not gone unnoticed by Southgate or his coaching staff, who are on the lookout for a left-sided centre-back to offer a different option to Harry Maguire.

Colwill fits the mould and has the added advantage of progressing through England’s international pathway, representing his country at under-16, under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels.
The 19-year-old was not part of Southgate’s 55-man shortlist for the World Cup,
But with the England boss set to consider younger options ahead of the Euro 2024 qualification campaign, Colwill could get his chance.
Young Manchester City right-back Rico Lewis is also reportedly under consideration by Southgate after breaking through at the Etihad.

Trossard, 28, has been frozen out by the Italian after reportedly being involved in a training ground bust up with a team-mate.
And Spurs would like to profit on the situation by sealing a cut-price deal.
According to The Athletic, the North Londoners launched a verbal £12million offer last week.
The informal bid was turned down by Seagulls chiefs, with Tottenham yet to lodge another.

Trossard has just 18 months left on his contract at the Amex Stadium.
Agent Josy Comhair revealed that communications between his client and De Zerbi have broken down and a January move will be “beneficial for both parties”.
But the Brighton gaffer hasn’t ruled out a return to the fold for his skilful attacker.
He said: “I want to be clear about Trossard. I’m sorry for the situation. I don’t think I’ve made a mistake with him. The people inside Brighton know very well the situation.

‘I’m fine with myself and I’m ready to open the doors for him, because he’s a good guy and a very important player for us.
“He changes the team, but he has to understand and to work with my attitude, in my way, because I am the coach, I decide the rules inside the dressing room, only this.
“I’m honest, I’m very clear. When I want to say something I speak inside the family and our family is the dressing room.
“I don’t want to speak about the communication of his agent, because I don’t know him, I know only Leo.
“I’m ready to listen to him without a problem, because this situation is important.
“It’s not a bad situation, it’s a great situation, because if he learns, if we improve our way, we can only improve, and to achieve our dreams there is only one way.
“To be open to improve and ready to work hard, because we are Brighton, a team of medium level in this competition, so we have to think about the team more than ourselves.”
Prior to being dropped, Trossard was enjoying a productive season – scoring seven goals and laying on three assists in 16 Prem outings.
Brighton haven’t struggled for goals since dropping him, however, beating Everton 4-1 before swatting Liverpool aside 3-0.

Highly rated Hudson-Odoi signed a five-year deal in 2019 after rejecting the opportunity to join Bayern Munich.
But injury struggles as well as falling out of favour with previous coaches saw him fall down the pecking order, resulting in a loan move to German side Leverkusen.

The move has been far from a success, with Hudson-Odoi playing just 15 times and scoring just once.
And according to The Athletic, Hudson-Odoi could look for a new permanent home in the summer once he returns from Chelsea to jump-start his career.

The report states that Hudson-Odoi could be available for a bargain fee as he’ll be heading into the final 12 months of his contract.
Chelsea will have to give him a contract extension or run the risk of losing him on a free transfer.
In January 2024, Hudson-Odoi can negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs.
If the player would like to stay in England, he’d have to wait until the end of June that year to strike a deal.
