Haaland has been in exceptional form in his first season in England, netting 21 goals in 17 matches.
Despite the Norwegian looking set to break multiple Premier League goalscoring records, Ferdinand thinks someone else is more deserving of the best player award.
He told the Vibe withFive podcast that Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard should win it.
Ferdinand said: “I’d go as far as to say right now, he’s probably my player of the year.

“Haaland has been great, don’t get me wrong, but if Haaland eases up with the goals and Arsenal win the league and Odegaard continues, he’s my player of the year.”
Ferdinand also went on to praise the ex-Real Madrid man for living up to the potential he had when he was a youngster and the resilience shown to go out on loan from the LaLiga side.
This isn’t the first time he has been hailed by the pundit, who previously likened him to Mesut Ozil.
Odegaard scored a fine goal in the North London derby win over Tottenham to take his league tally to eight goals and five assists in 17 games.

Jesus was instrumental to Arsenal’s title challenge prior to the World Cup, bagging five goals and six assists in 14 Premier League appearances.
Although the 25-year-old’s goals dried up in October and November, his influence on the attack remained prolific.
However, Arsenal have maintained the same momentum during his absence as they have increased their lead at the top of the table by eight points.
And Jesus’ replacement Eddie Nketiah has proven capable of filling his shoes with four goals since the resumption of top-flight football. More

Wan-Bissaka, 25, has found himself on the fringes of the starting XI for the majority of Ten Hag’s tenure but started against City due to an injury to Diogo Dalot.
And the former Crystal Palace man gave the Dutchman a firm reminder of his capabilities a mere 20 seconds into the Old Trafford tussle.
Wan-Bissaka sent City hardman Rodri sprawling to the turf with a neat bit of skill as he marauded forward – which received rapturous applause from the Theatre of Dreams faithful.
The former England Under-21 international proved to be a constant threat going forward in United’s 2-1 triumph, which didn’t go unnoticed by team-mate Marcus Rashford.

Tottenham star Richarlison deserves three-game ban for ASSAULTING Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale, slams Piers Morgan

PIERS MORGAN claims Richarlison deserves a three-match ban for ASSAULTING Aaron Ramsdale, who he insists did nothing wrong in the explosive North London derby.Arsenal clinched a 2-0 win at Tottenham to move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs ace Richarlison was firstly involved in a spat with Takehiro Tomiyasu on the sidelines before refusing to shake compatriot Gabriel Martinelli’s hand.
Despite not starting, it was a busy afternoon for the Spurs sub, who got on towards the end of the clash.
Ramsdale, who was sickeningly kicked by a Spurs fan, bickered with opponent Richarlison at the end of the game and the forward angrily pushed the keeper in the side of the head.
As a steward led the England international away to the edge of the pitch, a supporter climbed over the barricade in the Tottenham section and kicked the shot-stopper.

The trouble started brewing when Ramsdale turned to celebrate towards the fans that had been giving him stick after the final whistle.
Richarlison then went over to the keeper before his temper got the better of him and he started pushing him in the head.
Ramsdale marched away and went to grab his water bottle from behind the goal, but as he is bent over, the fan swooped in to attack.
Missed by stewards, the idiot stepped over the hoarding and kicked out at the goalie.

A steward then pushed the spectator away before the culprit scurried back up into the stand and the crowd while trying to cover his face with a scarf.
Players from both sides then ran over to try and diffuse the tense situation, although several squared up to one another.
Richarlison later blasted Ramsdale for being “disrespectful”, but SunSport columnist and Arsenal fan Morgan is adamant that the South American was the one in the wrong as he called for him to be suspended.
He told TalkSport: “Tottenham fans were clearly giving him [Ramsdale] absolute hell the entire game, as you would expect in a North London derby and at the end, rather than hurl back all the foul mouthed abuse he had to sustain for 90 minutes, he turns round and kisses the badge and smiles at them.
“On the general scale of declarations of war, an Arsenal player kissing the badge when they’ve just hammered Tottenham at their own backyard is probably not in the top 1000 things he could’ve done wrong.
“Let’s get real about how offensive it was about Ramsdale, it was a bit of fun with a bunch of fans that had been giving him hell.”
Morgan continued: “Richarlison, however, in my opinion absolutely crossed the line. I think he basically assaulted Ramsdale and should be banned for at least three games.
“And I think the fan who then did what he did was carried by what he saw with Richarlison.

“I think players have responsibility, if they’re going to start getting violent, it’s not entirely surprising some hooligan idiot in the crowd got involved too.
“So I think Richarlison was completely out of order.”

No Dream Team player has earned more bonus points from match ratings than Bruno Fernandes this season

THIS may come as a surprise, actually it won’t because you’ve already read the headline, no player has earned more bonus points from match ratings than Bruno Fernandes (£5.3m) this season.Manchester United’s midfield talisman registered his 18th rating of 7+ in Saturday’s Manchester derby.
His controversial goal (anyone else exhausted from all the talk of interference?) was the first of a quickfire double that saw the Red Devils come from behind to beat Manchester City 2-1.
Kieran Trippier (£6.2m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£7.6m) also have 18 7+ ratings to their name this term but Dream Team bosses would probably have guessed as much.
Newcastle’s vice-captain is by far and away the game’s best defender while the Belgian creator is king among midfielders at this stage.
That Fernandes rivals this pair in the eyes of our ratings providers, WhoScored, is somewhat unexpected because it wasn’t that long ago the Portuguese playmaker was subjected to frequent criticism.
Fernandes is collecting 7+ ratings for funCredit: getty
In truth, he has been a victim of his own success at times.
Last season, he scored ten goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions – a haul of goal involvements that is more than respectable for a player in his position.
Nevertheless, some fans felt this return represented a significant drop-off from his outrageous debut campaign in Man United colours – 28 goals and 17 assists in 2020/21!
It’s probably fairer to reflect upon that season as a Herculean effort rather than the norm.
    Most read in Dream Team
Some criticisms levelled at Fernandes in the last year have been valid though, his passionate nature on the pitch often transfers to petulance and when things aren’t clicking for him he gives the ball away with frustrating regularity.
But ever since Erik ten Hag steadied the ship after an initial wobble, United’s No8 has been increasingly influential.
Man United’s results have been impressive in recent monthsCredit: getty
Four goals and five assists represents a decent return at this stage without causing any jaws to drop but it’s the way he has adapted to the new regime that has led to a flurry of positive match ratings.
In fact, he’s produced nine consecutive 7+ ratings at club level, a streak that extends to 14 games if his World Cup appearances are factored in – Dream Team World Cup managers will remember his plentiful returns in Qatar.
Ten Hag has improved Man United considerably in a relatively short space of time and Fernandes’ uplift in form has one been one of several successes for the Dutch tactician.
With 89 points to his name, the 28-year-old is Dream Team’s fifth-best midfielder at the time of writing and yet he’s half as popular as the man three points behind him, Miguel Almiron (£3.4m), although of course the Newcastle winger has offered incredible value for money.
Fernandes may not be the unstoppable machine he was in 2020/21 but Dream Team gaffers would be foolish to disregard him entirely, his quietly going about his business very well. More

It had been expected that Mudryk would join Arsenal after he posted about the club on his social media.
However, the reason why Mikel Arteta’s side dropped out of the race to sign him has been revealed.
Arsenal are now planning a swoop for Chelsea target Declan Rice, according to The Independent.
The report suggests that the North London side are “hopeful” of signing the West Ham captain this summer.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
Rice has developed into one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League over the last few seasons.
He has also become a leader in the Hammers side, having taken over captaincy duties from the retired Mark Noble.
Although the 24-year-old has made no secret of wanting to challenge for trophies in his career, something that is looking unlikely at 18th-placed West Ham.
Arsenal will have to fight off interest from the Blues to sign Rice, but will have a couple of advantages.

With Graham Potter’s side currently in 10th, the Gunners are far more likely to be able to offer Champions League football next season.
Arsenal will also have plenty of cash in the budget to spend, whereas it would be expected that Chelsea’s continued heavy spending will have to cease at some point.
The Gunners also have Emile Smith Rowe, who plays in a similar position to Mudyrk, coming back from injury.
So Arteta may have also thought that there was less need to spend over £80m on another attacker when that money could be better spent elsewhere in the squad. More

But fans were given a rare look at the Norwegian’s hair down after British GQ released a couple of pictures from the shoot.
In one of the shots, Haaland can be seen looking straight down the camera while wearing a £690 Givenchy jumper and £2,000 grey blazer.
Then in the other snap, the former Borussia Dortmund man is rocking a £3,800 open jacket, a £325 jumper and a necklace.
Some quotes from Haaland were also shared ahead of his GQ interview later this month.

Meditation was one thing he touched upon during the chat, attributing it to helping with his mental state.
He said: “I think it’s a really good thing, to relax, to try to not think too much. Because stress is not good for anyone. I hate to be stressed, and I try not to be stressed.
“But the concept of meditation is to try to let go of these kinds of thoughts. It’s really individual, but for me it’s worked really well.”
He then spoke about how former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer helped him during his time at Molde, adding: “The first thing Solskjaer said to me was ‘you have no idea how to head a ball’ We have to work on that.

“This is what we did for two years, the whole period in Molde. And it was a good thing because now I’m scoring goals with my head – thanks to them.”
Haaland also named several strikers he has taken inspiration from by watching their playing styles.
He said: “From Zlatan to Van Persie, to Jamie Vardy, to Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi. Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli.
“I think in the end, it’s a lot about being aware in your mind.
“I still try to do exactly the same things I did when I was 13 in my hometown, I still do exactly the same runs. Show clips of me at 13 and you will see exactly the same thing.
“I try to be a bit more smart, a bit more sharp, ahead of the people I play against. I try to be a bit more turned on in my head.
‘Because If I do that if I get one second then I might be able to finish and he cannot block, for example.
“They think I go here, and I go there and I score. Things like this – it’s something I’m always thinking of.”
Haaland has scored a sensational 27 goals in 24 games since joining Man City in the summer.
But he is yet to get off the mark in 2023 as City fell eight points behind league leaders Arsenal at the weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s men lost 2-1 to Manchester United, while Arsenal beat Tottenham 2-0 to open up a significant gap at the top.
However, Haaland insists he is not bothered by any outside pressure being placed on him.
He said: “I like to be under pressure, I like to be challenged. I think you are born with it, a lot in your head. To be focussed to be ready, to be relaxed in your head.
“I think that’s one of the most important things as a footballer.
