And at one stage last July, Mbappe was offered the chance to leave the French capital.
However, despite speculation linking him with Real Madrid, any move would have been to Liverpool, according to The Athletic.
It’s claimed PSG consultant Antero Henrique opened the door for Mbappe to depart.
But Henrique and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi were demanding a staggering £352MILLION for his signature.

Although in the end the numbers turned out to be irrelevant, with Mbappe rejecting the option to join the Reds.
The report adds Mbappe had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid in the future.
That all came less than two months after he signed a new contract to stay at PSG until 2024, with an option for a further year.
And the Frenchman continues to be the subject of rumours regarding his future.

Reports last month claimed Real Madrid could pay one BILLION euros to land Mbappe at the end of the season.
Real Madrid legend Guti also recently insisted La Liga needs Mbappe – and he needs them too.
Guti declared: “The best have to stay at Real Madrid.
“Seeing him play for PSG makes me angry, and not only for Real but also for La Liga. La Liga must always have the best in the world.
“Mbappe is a player made for Real, and then if he wants to do what Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have done, he has to play for Real Madrid because he won’t make it for PSG.
“Madrid must go and get him immediately, now.
“There are good players on the market, but none like him. Yes, [Erling] Haaland maybe, but a step below. Mbappe, he is unique.
“Only he can give what Messi gave to Barcelona or Ronaldo to Madrid. Nobody else.” More

How Man Utd could line up against Crystal Palace with Weghorst in line for debut and Martinez returning

MANCHESTER UNITED will be looking to stretch their winning run to TEN when they take on Crystal Palace tonight.Erik ten Hag’s side have been in scintillating form since the season resumed and are still in both cup competitions.

And they can now overtake rivals Man City to move second in the Premier League with victory at Selhurst Park.
They head into the clash on the back of their stunning Manchester derby triumph, and boss Erik ten Hag could have two new options to choose from.
In terms of injuries, Ten Hag will be sweating over the fitness of Diogo Dalot after the Portugal star was withdrawn after just 34 minutes against Charlton.
He boldly picked Tyrell Malacia at left-back and Fred in midfield to face City.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
And he may decide to tweak his line-up again in an effort to help manage their demanding fixture schedule.
David de Gea will definitely be between the sticks, and with Dalot still struggling, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to be at right-back to take on his old club.
Left-back Luke Shaw has excelled in recent weeks at makeshift centre-half alongside Raphael Varane.
But after placing LIsandro Martinez on the bench at the weekend, Shaw could return to his natural position with the Argentina star joining him in the back four.

Fred started alongside Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the middle on Saturday, forcing Bruno Fernandes to play down the right.
However, Ten Hag could put the Portuguese ace back in his preferred No.10 role, which would allow Antony to be recalled and put on the right.
Marcus Rashford is in red-hot form after his latest matchwinner, and he will be down the left.
Anthony Martial, who is struggling with injury, was replaced by Antony at the break last time out.
And if he is not deemed fit enough to start, then that would most-likely see Wout Wegorst, who has joined on-loan from Burnley, handed his debut upfront. More

It was revealed on Tuesday that lifelong Man Utd fan Ratcliffe has formally launched a takeover attempt.
And SunSport has now taken the opportunity to look at the incredible yacht he owns – which is around 78 metres in length and can cater for up to 14 guests.
Within the huge water vessel, named Hampshire II, is a beach club at the rear featuring terraces and views of the ocean plus a helipad.
It is a breathtaking boat fit for the UK’s richest man – who is believed to be worth around £15billion.

The yacht also includes posh bathrooms and delightful bedrooms, as well as a wonderful dining room and huge living area.
Ratcliffe first revealed he was interested in Man Utd last summer.
A spokesperson back then said: “If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer.
“If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership.

“This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent.
“Jim is looking at what can be done now and, knowing how important the club is to the city, it feels like the time is right for a reset.”
Ratcliffe is a petrochemicals tycoon who at his peak was worth around £21billion.
He runs multi-billion-pound chemicals giant Ineos, which owns French club Nice, Swiss side Lausanne, plus a third of Formula One team Mercedes.
Ratcliffe also made a last-gasp bid to buy Chelsea back in May, although his £4.25billion offer was rejected.
His intention was to create a “very fine club in London” at Stamford Bridge.
But the club was eventually sold to Todd Boehly, who has not been afraid to splash the cash during his short time in charge.
Now Ratcliffe, who is a boyhood United fan, is attempting to reignite his bid for Premier League ownership by staking a claim to take over from the Glazers.

Arsenal will save for Declan Rice transfer rather than panic buy in January after Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk hijacking

ARSENAL will not be panicked into spending big this month despite being gazumped by Chelsea in the race for Mykhailo Mudryk.Manager Mikel Arteta is still keen to reinforce his squad during the current transfer window.

And missing out on Mudryk has come as a severe setback for the Gunners, who were convinced the Ukrainian international winger would be heading to the Emirates.
But the runaway League leaders will not be splashing out just for the sake of making a January signing.
And Arteta has made it clear that unless the club can find a player of the right age who will improve his squad and fit into his long-term project, he would rather go without anyone this month.
Arsenal’s concern is that having reluctantly offered £62million plus a further £26m in potential add-ons for Mudryk, they have now shown their hand in terms of their available budget.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
And they fear that any alternative transfer targets will now come with a similar price tag.
Owner Stan Kroenke has made it clear that there are funds available in this window to bolster Arsenal’s bid for a first League title since 2004.
But any money spent now will affect Arteta’s summer budget, when he has already identified a number of key signings including West Ham captain Declan Rice.
And while the current squad is still short on depth, Arteta feels he has sufficient cover in just about every position to maintain their title challenge without cutting any corners.

Last time Chelsea handed out long-term deal like Mudryk and how it MASSIVELY backfired on them costing a fortune

LONG-TERM deals in football are normal these days but in a time where they weren’t so common, one deal MASSIVELY backfired on Chelsea. In recent times, deals as long as four years are common depending on a player’s age and potential.

Bogarde’s move to Chelsea backfired massivelyCredit: Empics
At Chelsea, David Fofana penned a deal until 2029, Benoit Badiashile is contracted for seven-and-a-half year contract and Mykhailo Mudryk has signed for eight-and-a-half years.
But in the early 2000s, a four-year deal that was handed to Winston Bogarde backfired MASSIVELY.
A deal of that length was considered long-term at that time.
Bogarde joined from Barcelona and with him came a wealth of experience that included two LaLiga titles and a Champions League, as well as spells at AC Milan and Ajax.

The tall full-back was also a Dutch international.
However, for the cost of £40,000-a-week for four years, the Blues only saw Bogarde feature 12 times.
Bogarde raked in just shy of £8million, which works out at £640,000 every game he played.
It was said that Claudio Ranieri wanted Bogarde to leave just weeks after he took the Chelsea job.

Instead, Bogarde honoured his contract up until its expiration.
When touching on the Mudryk transfer, Darren Bent brought up Bogarde on talkSPORT.
It was previously claimed that the player would commute daily from Holland to London via PLANE.
Bent said: “I think Chelsea have had this before.
“Chelsea fans might correct me. Winston Bogarde. I’m pretty sure, I spoke to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, he used to live in Holland!
“(He would) get the plane over in the morning, get to training, train, get back on the plane after training, everyday Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told me this.
“There might be an odd occasion where he would stay over. That’s dedication that.”
Bogarde retired just a year after his time at Chelsea came to an end, and he denied claims he jetted to England daily in 2015.
He told The Guardian: “Of course not.
“I don’t understand how people come to these ridiculous stories, or lies or whatever.”
And on his exit from Chelsea, Bogarde said: “They had to cut costs.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s Chelsea wages revealed with £88m signing earning LESS than Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek

CHELSEA new boy Mykhailo Mudryk is earning LESS than Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek despite costing £88million.The Blues agreed a deal that could eventually be worth a whopping £97m to sign the 22-year-old from Shakhtar Donetsk last week.

The Ukrainian winger was presented to the Chelsea faithful at half-time of Sunday’s victory over Crystal Palace after the transfer was confirmed during the game.
He initially looked to be heading to Arsenal before the Stamford Bridge outfit usurped their rivals and offered the winger £10,000-a-week more than the Gunners.
Mudryk agreed an eight-and-a-half year contract which will see him pocket around £97,000 weekly.
However, The Athletic have reported that is less than both Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Hudson-Odoi penned a new five-year deal in 2019 for £100,000-a-week after rejecting the opportunity to join Bayern Munich.
But after falling out of favour, he was shipped off to Bayer Leverkusen on loan at the start of the campaign, and speculation is mounting he could leave this summer.
Meanwhile, midfielder Loftus-Cheek also signed a five-year contract worth £150,000 per week in 2019.
After a loan spell at Fulham in 2020/21, he was starting to get regular action earlier this term before injury struck and he has not played since November 6.

The report also adds that Mudryk’s relatively low salary is part of a new strategy from owner Todd Boehly to lower the wage bill.
Shakhtar Donetsk’s CEO hit out at Arsenal’s conduct over Mykhailo Mudryk – and explained why Chelsea landed the star.
Sergei Palkin said: “It is because Arsenal contacted the player almost one and a half months before they contacted us.
“Can you imagine, for example, to have Mikel Arteta, Oleksandr Zinchenko and the sporting director (Edu) calling you, to have Arsenal calling you almost every day, every two days, every three days?
“Therefore, why did many people around it have the impression that Mudryk was going to Arsenal? It is because Arsenal contacted him and then Mudryk started to watch some games of Arsenal. But negotiations are negotiations.”
While the CEO confirmed he did not make any formal complaints, he did raise the issue with the Gunners’ negotiating team.
Palkin added: “When I met Arsenal and they mentioned they had already talked to the player and they had contacted the player. To be honest, I knew beforehand that they had started to contact him.
“I said, ‘OK, you start to contact him but first of all you should close it with us’. But OK, we have what we have.” More

Building the best possible Dream Team XI using no more than one player per team

A BIT of harmless of Dream Team fun here to get you over the midweek hump. We’ve constructed the best possible XI (in terms of current season points) but with one crucial restriction: we’re not allowed to include more than one player per team.
We’ll spare you the maths we were forced to endure and get right down to business with the outcome…
    GOALKEEPER: Dean Henderson (£2.7m)
    Punching above his weightCredit: getty
Nottingham Forest are prioritising survival above all in their first season back in the Premier League and if they achieve their aim they’ll owe plenty to their temporary custodian.
On loan from Manchester United, Henderson has earned three Star Man awards so far this term.
His total of 60 points puts hims seventh among assets in his position which a great effort considering only Bournemouth have conceded more league goals than Forest at this stage.
It will be interesting to see how Steve Cooper’s side get on now that Henderson is expected to be sidelined with injury for at least the next four weeks.
DEFENDERS: Kieran Trippier (£6.2m), Thiago Silva (£5.4m), Ben Mee (£2.8m)
    Silva liningCredit: getty
No fewer than four Newcastle defenders feature in the current top eight but because of our limitation we can only have the top dog.
    Most read in Dream Team
With 160 points to his name, Trippier is 44 points clear at the peak of the defensive rankings – Nick Pope (£4.8m) is by far and away the best keeper too but his leading margin is not as wide and his total points are considerably lower than his vice-captain’s as well.
Chelsea assets have generally flattered to deceive in 2022/23 but their experienced Brazilian centre-back has bucked the trend and amassed 86 points, 22 more than his next-best team-mate.
Silva claimed four consecutive Star Man awards between Game Weeks 5 and 8.
Several defenders from Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are hovering at the right end of the rankings but we need players from those clubs to fill other positions so Brentford’s reliable No16 gets the nod.
Mee’s tally of 67 isn’t worth getting too excited about but his points-game-game average of 3.5 is better than that of John Stones (£5.2m), William Saliba (£3.4m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.6m).
The ex-Burnley centre-back has proved to be a smart signing for the Bees and he’s fully deserving of his spot in this hypothetical XI.
    MIDFIELDERS: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£3.5m), James Ward-Prowse (£4m), Martin Odegaard (£3.4m), Pascal Gross (£3.1m)
    Captain fantasticCredit: getty
As league leaders, Arsenal naturally boast multiple Dream Team success stories this season and their skipper has led by example.
After yet another classy showing in the north London derby, Odegaard became just the second asset in his position to pass the 100-point mark (101).
The Norway international has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 17 league fixtures – there’s a long way to go but he’s an early Player of the Year contender.
We’re not even sure how Hojbjerg has gathered 84 points, a total only bettered by six other midfielders.
The 27-year-old has quietly registered nine goal involvements (five goals, fours assists) and a healthy dose of 7+ ratings to warrant a spot in our team, although his returns are sustainable remains to be seen.
Brighton have averaged a shade under three goals a game since the start of November so it’s no wonder to see one of their many technically-sound midfielders make the cut.
Gross has dabbled at full-back recently but you’ll remember how he burst out of the blocks with a scoring spree at the start of the campaign – the German raced to 36 points by Game Week 4 and has 83 in total.
Southampton’s captain completes our midfield but by the skin of his teeth.
Ward-Prowse bagged his biggest haul of the season so far at the weekend as his brace at Goodison Park produced 18 points.
A reliable and consistent performer, Saints’ No8 has spent much of the last three seasons in and around the top ten Dream Team midfielders, his total of 76 points puts him tenth currently.
Plus, now we know who will be taking our free-kicks.
FORWARDS: Erling Haaland (£8.8m), Marcus Rashford (£5.4m), Mohamed Salah (£8.8m)
    Red hot form
Here are we then, the glaring reason why the likes of Joao Cancelo (£6.3m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£7.6m) have been overlooked.
Man City’s No9 is in a league of his own in Dream Team right now having plundered 220 points – no other player has more than 160.
Haaland has scored 27 goals for his new club already and there’s still half a season to play – obscene.
Not even the prolific Norwegian has been able to keep pace with Rashford since the restart.
Man United’s No10 has scored in every game since returning from Qatar, zooming from 82 points to 156 in the blink of an eye.
    Read More on The Sun
Last but not least, it says a lot about Liverpool’s main man that even when he’s not at his best amid a team with serious problems, he’s still racked up 149 points.
Salah has saved his best work for the Champions League this term (seven goals in 444 minutes) and he’s ticked over elsewhere despite the Reds’ stuttering form. More
