Arsenal, who were licking their wounds from missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk, snapped the Belgium international up for £27million.
Trossard’s time at Brighton ended on a bitter note after falling out with manager Roberto De Zerbi.
There was also a training ground altercation with an unnamed player.
Reports suggest the player was Lallana, who took issue to “Trossard’s unprofessionalism”.

And Lallana has fired a parting shot at his former team-mate, saying Brighton don’t need him.
Lallana told Sky Sports: “You only need to look at the last three results without him, 5-1, 4-1 and 3-0.”
The ex-Liverpool and England ace continued: “Players can leave Brighton, but we’ve got enough without them.
“We had enough without [Yves] Bissouma, [Marc] Cucurella, Ben White, Dan Burn, when Neal [Maupay] moved on, so if Leo moves on, we’ll cope. We’re coping already.”

Trossard may not be the only player out the door this January.
Moises Caicedo could soon reunite with former Brighton boss Graham Potter at Chelsea.
The Blues are said to have tabled a bid worth £65m – which was turned down.
De Zerbi has admitted the best he can hope for is for Caicedo to see out the season with them.
He said: “He is very important for us, it would be difficult to change with another player now.
“I hope he finishes the season with us, but you know in the transfer market it is always difficult to give you one answer.
“When there are some bigger teams and they want one of our players, it is good news for us.
“The best solution for us is he can finish the season with us.
“Next summer, for him, is better to change team.” More

But after Friday’s 1-0 loss away to Adelaide United, the 51-year-old held talks with Macarthur chairman Gino Marra.
And the pair have decided to mutually terminate the ex-Aston Villa, Sunderland and Blackburn striker’s contract.
Yorke, whose assistant Russell Latapy has also left, said: “I want to thank the chairman Gino Marra, CEO Sam Krslovic, all the ownership group as well as all the staff, fans of Macarthur FC.
“I leave the football club with a great team that will continue to challenge for more silverware.”

Yorke guided the club to the Australia Cup – which was the Bulls’ first piece of silverware.
He also led them to five league wins while at the helm but now he could be set to take over at rivals Sydney FC.
Sydney have sacked Steve Corica after a disappointing start to the A-League campaign.
And that has opened the door for Yorke, who spent a season as a player at the club, to take over.

He helped his country reach the semi-finals of the winter tournament.
Croatia then beat Morocco in a third place play-off.
And according to Jeunes Footeux, his fine displays both for club and country have alerted Man Utd.
Fellow Premier League side Tottenham are also said to be keen.

Majer only joined Rennes in 2021.
After joining from Dinamo Zagreb, Majer has had a part in a combined 20 goals and assists in 59 games.
And so Rennes have slapped a £50m price tag on their midfield maestro, who is dubbed the next Luka Modric.
A January transfer is unlikely to happen.

Frank Lampard set to be sacked by Everton if Premier League strugglers lose and put in poor performance at West Ham

FRANK LAMPARD fears today’s game against West Ham is “make or break” for his future as Everton boss.Sources inside the struggling Merseyside club say a defeat – and a poor performance at the London Stadium – is likely to see the ex-England and Chelsea legend axed.

And morale among the players is thought to have been rocked by the lack of any signings made in January.
Our source said: “The game against West Ham is make or break.
“The two recent performances against Southampton, and particularly against Brighton, mean Lampard is on borrowed time. A third performance like that and it will most likely be curtains for him.
“There’s a really low feeling around the club at the moment as it’s obvious they need reinforcements, but there’s hardly been any activity.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
“There is a feeling that perhaps the club is waiting to see if they will be bringing in a new manager before the end of January, and that’s why Lampard hasn’t been given the chance to freshen things up.
“There is also the financial fair play situation but it’s a mess.”

New West Ham striker Danny Ings is one player Lampard apparently wanted.
But Everton were only able to offer the former Aston Villa striker a loan deal despite Ings being interested in a move due to the fact he was attracted by the idea of a move to the North West.
    Most read in Football
One source said: “That summed it all up. Ings would have been tailor-made for Everton and apparently he was keen to join.
“And even with the Liverpool connection fans would have welcomed him with open arms. He would have got goals that could have helped the club move up the table.
“Now he’s going to be lining up for a relegation rival.”
We told last week how Everton are bracing themselves for the exit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the end of the season.
The England hitman is wanted by Newcastle United – who may even have moved in for him in January if it wasn’t for the player’s injury problems.
A source said: “Calvert-Lewin is at right at the top of the list of targets Newcastle have. They were interested in him last summer, and that interest remains.
“They think he could be a striker that could help take them to the next level both in the league, and in Europe.
“The only reason they didn’t move in January is because Dominic is struggling with injuries.
“Due to where Newcastle are in their season, riding high in the league and in a league cup semi final, they need additions who can hit the ground running.”

The Sun understands Frank Lampard has told Everton’s board he needs to keep his trio of top stars – Jordan Pickford, Anthony Gordon and Calvert-Lewin – if they are to have any hope of surviving against relegation.
But all three will leave if Everton do go down. More

Mikel Arteta is desperate to bolster the Premier League leaders’ title charge with new additions this month.
And they are set to splash the cash again despite already forking out £27m to Brighton for Leandro Trossard.

The 50-year-old has managerial experience in the MLS.
Armas managed New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC.

But he is coming off the back of a horror spell under Ralf Rangnick at Man Utd.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are believed to be leading the chase for the midfielder, who is under contract until 2025.
And the ex-Birmingham City ace is also on the wanted lists of Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
It was reported earlier this week that Bellingham was in talks with both Madrid and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds over a summer transfer.
The Bundesliga club have sold Jadon Sancho to Manchester United and Erling Haaland to City over the last couple of years.

They are desperate to avoid losing another key asset in Bellingham.
And Dortmund boss Edin Terzic has urged his teenage ace to reject a switch to the Bernabeu or Anfield to stay with them next season and continue his development.
He told The Athletic: “I believe that we need to work on keeping these young guys one year longer.
“In my first season [as interim manager], I was able to put Jadon, Jude and Erling on the pitch, but that was their only year together.

“That was also partly due to Covid-19 and empty stadiums, there were financial considerations.
“But if we can get to the point where it’s two or three years of such a trio, maybe we can break the mould.”
Bellingham has been in top form for both club and country this term.
He has nine goals and three assists in 22 appearances for Dortmund and has captained them three times also.
The youngster also scored England’s opening World Cup goal in the 6-2 thrashing over Iran.
Bellingham will be back in action for his club for the first time since the World Cup this weekend as the Bundesliga resumes following the winter break. More
