Leicester looking to pinch another Shakhtar Donetsk winger in Tete transfer as he impresses on loan at Lyon

LEICESTER are continuing their pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tete. The Brazilian’s situation is made a little more complex by the fact he is currently on loan at French club Lyon.

But the Foxes have not given up hope of persuading Shakhtar to do a deal for Tete.
That is despite the Ukrainian side having already sold Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea.
Leicester pulled out of the race for Fiorentina wideman Nico Gonzalez.
That was after the Italian club increased the price of the Spaniard from £25m to between £35m and £40m.

An offer of £25m or so could be enough to entice Shakhtar into recalling Tete from France and selling him.
Leicester have been sniffing round the 22-year-old for some time.
When Russia invaded Ukraine last February and football in the country was suspended, there were even suggestions that Tete might have his contract cancelled and leave Shakhtar for nothing.
But he was sent out on a 15-month loan to Lyon.

    Recovery time…
It has not been an easy ride for either of these teams, but a point can be something to build on for both Graham Potter and Jurgen Klopp.
This is how the next four games look for both sides…
Chelsea and Liverpool’s next four games
That is all from us for coverage of today’s game on SunSport, but stay with us and check out the player ratings from today’s match up here.
    How the momentum flowed
This is the story of the momentum in today’s game, and it reflects the back and forth nature of the tie.
Chelsea generally had short, dominant spells, whereas Liverpool were less dangerous but for longer periods of the game, with more sustained pressure at times.
There were chances for both sides as Liverpool drew 0-0 with Chelsea
    Man of the match
A few good defensive performances today for both sides, namely Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella and Thiago Silva.
But it is the brilliant Brazilian who picks up the SunSport man of the match award, for another imperious display for The Blues.
He almost had an assist for the opener, when Kai Havertz tapped home after three minutes, but that was correctly ruled out by VAR.
Aside from that he was dominant in the air, and as great defenders do, made Badiashile look like he had been playing Premier League football for years.
Doing all this at 38-years young, as you can never connote the word old with Thiago Silva.
Who was your man of the match?

    Bore-draw at Anfield
Well it wasn’t quite the exciting game we were after, and the stats probably reflect what was a cagey and tight affair at Anfield.
Both teams looked a bit nervous and afraid of losing this one, but ultimately they will both be a bit disappointed with only one point, which could leave them 12 points away from a Champions League place.
There were bright sparks in the game, with Mykhailo Mudryk leaving Chelsea fans with something to be excited about and Thiago Silva and Badiashile being imperious at the back.
But, at least it’s not a loss may be the words echoed in the changing rooms of both sides, and we look forward to the rest of the games today.
This is how the match stats looked:
The full-time stats for Liverpool vs Chelsea
    FT. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Full-time at Anfield, and it ends all square.
Kai Havertz had the ball in the back of the net after just three minutes, but it was ruled out by VAR.
There were good chances for both sides, particularly falling to Benoit Badiashile and Mohammed Salah, but a 0-0 is probably a fair result.
    90+5. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Azpilicueta makes a great block to deny Darwin Nunez, but the Uruguayan danger man was offside regardless.
    90+4. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Chance for Chelsea!Mudryk finds a ball through to Chukwuemeka, but the youngster can’t get his shot on target.
    90+2. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Everyone is arguing about everything right now.
Every throw in is heavily contested, and Klopp is losing his mind at the fourth official after Nunez kicks the ball out of play and it is given as a Chelsea throw.
    90. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Five minutes of added time at the end of the second half.
    88. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
“Is there a fire drill?” Chants coming from the Chelsea fans.
Liverpool fans are leaving early, probably in hopes to beat the traffic.
They will regret that if there is a late winner for their side.
    86. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Inside the final five minutes of normal time, but you would expect a fair chunk of added time at the end of the second half.
    83. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Almost a chance for Chelsea, as Konate loses the ball, but Chukwuemeka slips just before he can get to it.
    80. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
A few changes for both teams.
    Azpilicueta is on for Chalobah.
    Chukwuemeka is on for Mount.
    Aubameyang replaces Kai Havertz.
Fabinho, Henderson and Curtis Jones are on for Liverpool in replacement of Bajcetic, Gakpo and Harvey Elliott.
    78. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Chalobah is down for Chelsea, and it looks as though he might have to be replaced by Cesar Azpilicueta, who will make his 500th appearance for the club.
Chalobah gets booked while leaving the pitch.
    76. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
    Chance for Chelsea!
Mudryk finds Mount, who finds the ball for Ziyech to have a shot on goal.
The shot is saved well by Alisson.
    74. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Konate catches Cucurella late this time, but avoids a yellow card from the referee.
    72. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Chance for Mudryk after another great Ziyech cross.
The Ukrainian tries to take a touch, but perhaps should have just taken the shot first time.
    70. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Ziyech whips another good ball in towards Mykahilo Mudryk at the back post, but it is cleared by the Liverpool defence.
    68. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Chance for Gakpo! The Liverpool forward receives a ball from Nunez on the edge of the box, and fires a shot on target, but it is saved by Kepa.
    66. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Mudryk absolutely burns Milner for pace on the left hand side, and the Englishman is forced to bring him down.
    Yellow card for Milner.
    64. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Almost a perfect introduction for Mykhailo Mudryk!Left foot, right foot from the Ukrainian who almost gets a debut goal!
His shot hits the side netting, but Chelsea fans will be happy if that is a sign of things to come.
    62. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
A first change for Liverpool, which is not like for like.
Naby Keita is off, and he is being replaced by Darwin Nunez.
    60. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Nearly a beauty from Hakim Ziyech! It is a great cross-field ball from Mason Mount to the Moroccan international, who cuts in and beats four or five Liverpool players before eventually getting a shot off.
The shot however, flies over the bar.
    58. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Half-chance for Chelsea, as Ziyech’s ball into the box is poorly cleared by Joe Gomez to the feet of Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher fails to take an early shot, and eventually gets a corner out of Liverpool.
    56. Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea
Here he comes, Mykhailo Mudryk is on for Chelsea in replacement of Lewis Hall.

And reports suggested that the French midfielder was on Gunners boss Mikel Arteta’s radar.
Camavinga, 20, is currently behind Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Federico Valverde in the pecking order at the Bernabeu.
But despite this, Ancelotti does not want to lose the Spanish league and Champions League winner, either on loan or on a permanent transfer.
Ancelotti said: “He’s untouchable, like Modric and Kroos.”

Camavinga’s agent has also rubbished reports of a potential loan to Arsenal or Chelsea.

“All he needs to do is send his diary over, I’ll fly over to Dortmund, take him out for a nice dinner and we’ll talk about it!” 😂Steven Gerrard is adamant that Liverpool need to get their hands on Jude Bellingham in the summer… 👀🎙️ @lynseyhipgrave1 pic.twitter.com/M429zNz0tP— Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) January 21, 2023

Liverpool and Real Madrid are believed to be leading the chase for the midfielder, who is under contract until 2025.
And the ex-Birmingham City ace is also on the wanted lists of Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain – although Dortmund are adamant they want him to stay.
It was reported earlier this week that Bellingham was in talks with both Madrid and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds over a summer transfer.
Now former Reds captain Gerrard, who was sacked by Aston Villa last month, is ready to help Klopp secure the signature of the one man he believes the Reds need.

Stevie G, who was at Anfield today as a pundit covering Liverpool’s goalless draw with Chelsea, told BT Sport: “All he needs to do is send his diary to me when he’s got a free day.
“I’ll fly to Dortmund personally, take him out for a nice dinner, and we’ll talk about it!
“On the back of the World Cup, what he’s doing out in Dortmund. I’m a huge fan of him anyway. The way he comes across, the way he speaks about the game. Every time I’ve watched him he impresses me.
“He’s the obvious one, because I do think that at the moment, now that [Jordan] Henderson has adapted his game and he covers Trent [Alexander-Arnold] on that right hand side, Thiago‘s more of a footballer, Fabinho stays, Liverpool are lacking this running No. 8 who can arrive in the box, get you a goal, who’s got that power, that burst, who can leave someone for dead.

“Bellingham ticks all those boxes. He’s the obvious one, but I think it’s important we don’t become obsessed with one midfielder.
“It’s Liverpool Football Club. Everyone around the world knows that Liverpool will be looking, will be scouting midfielders. There’s a lot of very good midfielders around the world.”
Despite Liverpool’s struggles in the top-flight this term, Gerrard also insisted that Bellingham is “bright” enough to know that Anfield is still the ideal place to continue his development.
He said: “Liverpool are in the middle of the table, but I’m sure Jude’s bright enough to go ‘hang on a minute, there’s a stand going up here, it’s going to be a 60,000 stadium, they’ve got one of the best five managers in the world, they’ve won the Premier League of late, they’ve been in Champions League finals of late, they play very well here, they’ve got some fabulous players, they develop players.
“It ticks an awful lot of boxes, but Liverpool in the league, right now are in the middle of the table.”
Despite the lure of Bernabeu and Real Madrid, Gerrard also thinks it is vital Bellingham returns to these shores rather than risk being “swallowed up” at a big club foreign club.
He added: “I think it’s important he stays in this country.
“He’s 19 years of age. They’re talking about Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

“I know he’s doing it in Dortmund now, but those clubs are at a higher level than Dortmund. You can get swallowed up, there’s a lot of world stars. You can get swallowed up by making the move too soon.
“In my opinion, staying around England, staying around this country, getting developed. There’s growth in him, he can evolve. I think staying in England until he hits his peak years is very important for the boy now.” More

His £35.9million transfer from German side Hoffenheim in 2015 has been a resounding success.

“I’m happy here and I intend to stay here and help Liverpool.”
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has also had his say on Firmino’s contract.
He said: “They are normal things. What could be the reason from our point of view?
“There is no reason to give too detailed information but when you think a bit, where could it hang?
“It could be the time, it could be the money or these kinds of things, but it is completely normal.
“Bobby knows the situation here and what we think of him, that’s clear.
“And there is nothing else to say, there is no problem or whatever, it is just the situation. I can’t see any kind of problems there.
“He was [so important], he is. I think in the first part of the season we were not flying but Bobby was the only one who played a pretty good season.
“He was probably the only one who played a kind of normal season in a lot of games, at least.” More

However, the fans are keen to ensure the club are well aware their primary discontent is centered around the top brass.
That is the Enic Group which owns 86.58 per cent and is headed up by billionaire Joe Lewis alongside Daniel Levy, Spurs’ chairman.
A small group of fans gathered at the entrance to the Hotspur Way Training Ground in Enfield on Saturday morning.
Some of the protesters carried placards while others pinned banners up in the hedges across the road.

And a final user commented: “Sure that’s not just the queue for the bus?”
Despite the £1billion new stadium, Tottenham fans have seen their side lift a trophy of any kind since the League Cup 15 years ago.
Their last league title came way back in 1961 and their current form shows no signs the barren run will end any time soon.
Tottenham, who head to Fulham on Monday night, have lost six of their last ten Premier League matches and 14 points off leaders and arch-rivals Arsenal.

Frank Lampard’s men have scored just 15 goals in 19 Prem outings this term, with only Wolves having netted fewer.
This dismal return has seen them sink to 19th in the table, with Lampard’s job hanging by a thread.

Danjuma joined Villarreal from Bournemouth for around £22million in 2021.
He has bagged 22 goals in 51 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, also getting a taste of Champions League football last term.
Having started the season with an injury, however, he has been more out of favour this time around – starting just six LaLiga games.
Newcastle are set to enquire regarding Anthony Gordon’s availability.
Everton were determined to keep the 21-year-old last summer, fending off bids by Chelsea and Tottenham.
But with the youngster having fallen out of favour of late, their stance may now have changed.
The Toffees were demanding a fee in excess of £50m for Gordon when Chelsea and Spurs came calling.
