Rashford intercepted Thomas Partey’s pass in the Gunners’ half and then received the ball from Bruno Fernandes.
The United star then showed a beautiful piece of skill to beat Partey and open up the space.
He then unleashed a venomous early strike low and into the bottom corner, giving Aaron Ramsdale no chance.
After beating his England team-mate, Rashford ran across to the corner flag and performed his new celebration – pointing to his temple – as he stood motionless in front of the home Arsenal fans.

The goal was Rashford’s ninth in all competitions since club football resumed after the World Cup – more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.
It also ended a nightmare record of 26 away Premier League starts without a goal, dating back to December 2020.
And plenty of football fans on Twitter were understandably delighted by the No10’s latest finish.
One said: “Rashford is on fire!”

And Gary Lineker added: “Stunning goal from @MarcusRashford. A thing of beauty.”
But United’s joy lasted just seven minutes.
Arsenal recycled a short corner well with Eddie Nketiah heading in from Granit Xhaka’s inch-perfect cross to level the top-of-the-table clash.
Bukayo Saka fired the league leaders in front with a curling effort from range after half-time but Lisandro Martinez headed in for 2-2.
Nketiah had the final say, though, with his instinctive flick in the 90th minute securing a dramatic three points.

Man City 3 Wolves 0: Erling Haaland puts Prem strugglers to the sword with ANOTHER hat-trick to put pressure on Arsenal

PEP GUARDIOLA CALLED for guts, fire and passion. What he got was cool, calm, and collected finishing from a player destined to be one of the greatest strikers of all time.

The striker scored a penalty, a header and a tap-in to sink WolvesCredit: Getty
The cries of ‘Haaland, Haaland, Haaland’ that greeted his substitution with his job done after another hat-trick will have had the hairs on the back of the young forward’s neck standing up on end.
Such receptions are usually saved for legends of long-standing, not someone who has been here for just half a season.
But his incredible impact has deserved the esteem in which he is held by the faithful at The Etihad.
His 25 league goals after 20 games is already more than Mo Salah and Son Heung-Min scored in sharing the Golden Boot last season, they both hit 23.

Indeed Haaland’s current total in the first month of the New Year would have won him that same award in each of the last four seasons.
In all he has 31 goals in 25 games and he probably has at least as many games left this season.
To think former City midfielder Didi Hamann told Sky Sports during City’s derby defeat that this was a better team without him last season.
Clearly we didn’t give them enough credit then for that title win because it must have been a better side than we thought.

That comment came at the end of Haaland’s goal drought of three games.
Fair to say after one in the fightback against Spurs on Thursday and his fourth hat-trick of the season this afternoon, normal service has been resumed.
Manager Pep Guardiola had complained that his team and the home fans had lacked that edge and passion after the victory over Spurs.
He could have few complains at the way they dismantled this Wolves side and the way the supporters lapped it up.
As can often happen here they had to be patient against an opponent happy to sit deep.
Rather than fight fire with fire as Wolves racked up three bookings in the first quarter of an hour, including one for their boss, City kept their composure and ground their opponents down.
From the word go City simply worked the ball around the pitch to find that gap they always tend to discover in the end, and exploit.
Well, I say simply, it’s not simple, it just looks it for City on days like this.
It took until the 40th minute for Haaland to break the deadlock.
The Norwegian goal machine had revealed in midweek how it was his former Molde boss Ole Solskjaer who had identified a weakness when it came to his heading and worked on it.
Not a problem now as was proved when he nodded Pep’s men into the lead.
Riyad Mahrez shaped like he was going to the byline before slipping a ball back with the outside of his left boot for Kevin De Bruyne to deliver one of his sumptuous crosses.
It was perfect for Haaland and Nathan Collins did not stand a chance as he jumped to challenge him.
Indeed the 6ft5 City frontman was probably a good three foot above the Wolves defender when he planted his forehead on the ball and sent it flying past Jose Sa.
While Wolves might have been complaining early on about decisions it was City who had most to moan about at the break after a penalty claim on 42 minutes.
Jack Grealish was clearly caught on the back of his calf by Collins outstretched leg as he evaded him and went down.
A VAR look later decided otherwise.
Grealish came close to getting justice just moments later but his goalbound shot was cleared off the line by of all people Collins.
No worries, as City simply went up another level after the break as Haaland struck twice within ten minutes of the restart.
The first of those, and his second of the afternoon, came from the penalty spot after Ruben Neves had brought down Gundogan.
Then when Jose Sa delivered a woeful pass out from his box, Mahrez intercepted and squared for Haaland to side foot into the bottom left-hand corner.
His job done Haaland was subbed off for a rest with Julian Alvarez taking his place.

A repeat of this fixture from earlier on in the season would see United cut the gap down to five points.
And despite Ten Hag being the only manager to get one over on Mikel Arteta in the Prem this season, United legend Neville believes his former team will NOT win the title.
The former defender-turned-pundit says United are “a little bit short upfront”, which rules them out of the title race.
Neville said on Sky Sports: “I don’t think they (Man Utd) are (in the mix for the title).

“The others seem to have more firepower, but United, from where they were at the start of the season, are in a really good position.”

Roy Keane says United’s performances are still below that of title challengers Arsenal.
Keane said: “United have had a difficult start to the season, it’s great to see their recovery.
“They are still behind Arsenal in terms of the level of performances and of course the points total.”
Neville doesn’t believe Arsenal will win the league either.
He reckons United will beat Arsenal to second with Manchester City retaining the title.
He said: “They won’t win the league. Manchester City will win the league, and I think Man Utd will finish second, and I know that will annoy Arsenal fans!
“I’d rather Arsenal win the league than Man City. I think it would be absolutely sensational for the Premier League.

And after just 20 games, Haaland has topped last season’s winning tally netting his 25th in the Premier League.
The Norwegian equalled the record converting a Kevin De Bruyne pass to get the scoring underway at the Etihad Stadium.
The 22-year-old then made it a brace from the penalty spot before adding a third, slotting into an empty net after a howler from Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
It was his fourth hat-trick since his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

He has now become the quickest player to reach the four hat-trick milestone in Premier League history.
The record was held by Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, it took him 65 games.

The striker will now have his eyes set on breaking another record held by Salah.

Victory rests on squad being United

A win would make it a sixth on the road for the Red Devils, the other five have all come by a single goal margin.
ten Hag’s side are in danger of dropping points in two consecutive league games for the first time since their opening two fixtures of the league campaign.
    Gunning for success at home
Arsenal have scored in 17 of their 18 home fixtures this season.
Bukayo Saka is looking to score against United in a third consecutive Premier League game, a feat only ever achieved by Freddie Ljungberg and Thierry Henry.
Gabriel Martinelli has contributed towards 10 goals in his last 10 games at The Emirates, scoring six and assisting four.

Game to make a statement with
This will be the third time Arsenal have hosted Man Utd while top of the table, the two other occasions ended in draws.
Having won five of their six games against the ‘top six’ this season, The Gunners have not won five games against such opposition since the 2007/08 campaign.
Arteta’s side failed to score in their most recent home game against Newcastle, the last time they failed to do so in two consecutive home games was in November 2020.
    No time to rest up
Despite a dominant 2-0 win against their fierce rivals from North London, where Thomas Partey rattled the woodwork too, the win extended Arsenal’s lead at the top to eight points.
After defeat in the Manchester derby, Pep Guardiola’s side were keen to get back to winning ways.
That gap has been cut back down to five after City recorded their own win over Spurs, having to come from 2-0 down at half-time to register a 4-2 victory.
    Gunners dominating match ups
Mikel Arteta’s side have won five of their past seven home league matches against the Red Devils.
11 of their 17 wins in this fixture have been when the games have taken place on a Sunday.
In their last nine league matches away against Arsenal, United have failed to score on six occasions.
    Dutchman realises size of challenge
The Man Utd manager spoke about what Arsenal pose his side this afternoon with their talisman Casemiro:
Last time we beat Arsenal without Casemiro, so we have an idea of how to do it. It’s obvious they are in a really good run, I think they deserve the position where they are now. It’s a really good structure, there’s a really good mentality, winning attitude in the team, and that’s why they are now top of the league. They are in a great run but it is up to us to beat that run and we will do everything to do that.Erik ten HagMan Utd
    Keeper attacked by rival fan
Aaron Ramsdale was kicked in the back by a supporter at the end of the North London derby after producing a man-of-the-match performance.
The Arsenal keeper came up with a number of crucial saves against Tottenham before being targeted by a spectator, who has since been charged with assault.
A Hugo Lloris own goal and a Martin Odegaard goal were enough to see Arteta’s side to take all three points in the tense derby.
Gunners able to open up gap
Mikel Arteta’s side have the chance to open up an 11-point gap over Man Utd with victory in front of The Gunner’s faithful this afternoon.
It would see them regain their 8-point gap over second-placed Man City.
They have some vengeance to seek in this one after United inflicted their only defeat of the season in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Welcome to Arsenal vs Man Utd
Table-topping Arsenal welcome Man Utd to The Emirates stadium today, looking to seek revenge on the only team to beat them in the Premier League this season.
The Gunners came through the North London derby unscathed, leaving only Gabriel Jesus as their long-term absentee.
Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale will be fit for today’s game despite being attacked by a fan at the end of the game against Tottenham.
Reiss Nelson is not likely to be risked as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares will both need assessing although neither is likely to feature in the starting line-up.
A goal for Bukayo Saka today would see him become only the third Arsenal player to score in three consecutive games against Man Utd, joining football royalty with Freddie Ljunberg and Thierry Henry.
New signing Leandro Trossard was registered before 12pm on Friday, meaning that he is available to make his Gunners debut today.
Casemiro will miss this one for United today after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season for a cynical foul on Wilfried Zaha.
Fred is expected to replace the Brazilian, while Jadon Sancho will miss the game although he has returned to training following injury.
Diogo Dalot and Anthony Martial are doubts and their fitness will be assessed closer to kick-off, while Axel Tuanzebe and Donny van de Beek remain out, but Jack Butland will be back on the bench after being unable to face his parent club.
Should Martial be unable to play, it is likely Wout Weghorst will come into the side, meaning Marcus Rashford dropping out wide.
