Moises Caicedo’s Instagram post begging for transfer contained bizarre spelling mistake of his home town

But the message on social media contained a spelling mistakeCredit: Getty
Both clubs have seen bids rejected and are trying to sign him before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
And Caicedo took to social media to express his feelings.
The 21-year-old said: “I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.
“I am the youngest of 10 siblings from a poor upbringing in Santa Domingo in Ecuador. My dream always to be the most decorated player in the history of Ecuador.

“I am proud to be able to bring in a record transfer fee for Brighton which would allow them to reinvest it and help the club continue to be successful.
“The fans have taken me into their hearts and they will always be in my heart so I hope they can understand why I want to take up this magnificent opportunity.”
But Caicedo’s message on Instagram contained some errors.
Remarkably, he spelt the name of his home town Santo Domingo wrong.

Instead of spelling it with an “O” at the end of Santo, he put an “A”, which appears to suggest that his message could have been written by a representative.
Furthermore, quote marks were also included on the message, which hints that it might have been drafted by someone else.
Caicedo spent time in Santo Domingo last month following Ecuador’s exit from the World Cup and was given a hero’s welcome upon his return.
La Hora, the paper in the city, said at the time: “He indicated he has not thought about going anywhere else.”
But Caicedo’s stance has changed following interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
Brighton, who have still said he’s not for sale, have responded to the situation by telling the midfielder to stay away from the club until the window closes.
And he won’t feature against Liverpool in the FA Cup tomorrow. More

It comes at a time when Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence are all doing little to impress Lilywhites boss Antonio Conte.
But according to The Mail, Spurs have now hit a roadblock in their pursuit of a deal.
They saw a £32.5m offer rejected, before talks resumed this week over a new structure consisting of a fee plus bonuses.
It is the format of the payment which is leading Sporting to drag their feet.

And they may be set to call the move off altogether if negotiations continue to stall.
Porro is ready to sign a five-and-a-half-year contract with Tottenham after the Portuguese League Cup final this Saturday.
The wingback has played 96 times for Sporting, contributing 12 goals and 20 assists.
He impressed against Spurs earlier this season when Conte’s men faced Sporting in the Champions League group stage.

Chelsea have also shown interest in him, with the Portuguese club targeting Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey as a replacement should Porro depart.
Porro was at Man City between 2019 and 2022 but never made a senior appearance for the club.
His arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would likely see Spence head out on loan. More

Chelsea star Reece James ‘ready to start next game v Fulham’ after recovering from horror knee injury setback

CHELSEA star Reece James could return for next week’s West London derby with Fulham, according to reports. The right-back has missed the last six games in all comps after injuring his knee on his comeback against Bournemouth last month.

That came after he spent almost three months on the sidelines after suffering a knee problem against AC Milan back in October.
But James appears to have put his nightmare behind him.
That’s because the Telegraph claim that he’s likely to be considered for selection on Friday after recently returning to training.
Chelsea have reportedly beaten off competition from Manchester United to sign Malo Gusto, who will provide cover for James from next season.

But the 23-year-old remains a key part of Graham Potter’s plans with Blues losing just one of the seven Premier League games he’s started this term.
In stark contrast, Chelsea have lost SIX of the 12 matches that James has missed, collecting just 10 points from a possible 36.
Therefore, Potter will be desperate to keep him fit and James will equally want to prove himself of England’s first Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine in March.
In another boost, Ben Chilwell, who’s been out since before the World Cup with a hamstring injury, could also be included in the squad to face Fulham.

Tottenham transfer target Zaniolo ‘refuses to meet Bournemouth execs’ after they flew out to seal £26m deal with Roma

ROMA midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo reportedly refused to meet with executives from Bournemouth this week after they had flown to Italy in an attempt to complete a transfer. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico since the transfer window opened at the beginning of January.

Tottenham and AC Milan had expressed an interest in signing him, but Bournemouth were willing to table the best bid.
According to Sky Sports Italia, the Cherries were keen to match Roma’s £26.4million asking price in order to swiftly complete the deal.
However, after club chiefs flew out to Italy to meet with Zaniolo, the player refused to take part in negotiations and instead sent his agent Claudio Vigorelli to the meeting.
Roma have been left furious with the midfielder as a result and the club are now believed to be considering disciplinary action against him.

Zaniolo has scored two goals and assisted three in 17 appearances for the Yellow and Reds so far this season, but he was dropped from the squad last week.
While Tottenham and AC Milan remain interested in a potential deal, Roma chiefs believe that selling the Italy international to Bournemouth would be the best option.
On top of meeting the initial asking price, the Cherries have also offered Zaniolo a significant pay rise.
But with the midfielder’s next move still uncertain, Juventus could potentially swoop in to hijack a deal.

Reports in Italy have suggested that the Serie A giants could submit an offer if Weston McKennie, who has been linked with a move to Leeds, leaves the club.

Man Utd transfer blow as Marco Reus considers snubbing Ten Hag’s £200k-a-week offer for new deal at Borussia Dortmund

Erik ten Hag has reportedly been keen to add the German to his squad on a free transfer, much like he did with Christian Eriksen last summer.
Indeed, United are said to have offered a £200,000-a-week deal to lure Reus to Old Trafford.
This speculation intensified as his agents, Dirk Hebel and Darren Freeman, watched the Manchester derby.
However, a report from 90min indicates Dortmund are among the parties involved in a dialogue with the representatives.

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed talks were ongoing between the two parties.
He told Sky Germany earlier this week: “We are in trusting talks with the player and the agent.
“There is nothing more to say about it at the moment. We don’t let ourselves be carried away either. We know each other very, very well and have a good relationship of trust.”
Kehl then took a swipe at the fiasco earlier in the season which saw dirty laundry aired in public during recent negotiations with youngster Youssoufa Moukoko.

He added: “We don’t need all of these media topics that we had around Moukoko for every personal detail.”
Talks were held with Manchester City before Hebel headed to London, with the Cityzens put off by his client’s age.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are another team Reus has been linked with in the summer.
RB Leipzig also had their name in the hat, but this was played down by the club’s managing director Max Eberl, who said: “There’s nothing to it [the transfer rumour].
“We’re quietly thinking about summer. You have to think about free transfer players. Nothing more and nothing less is there.”
The Red Devils’ position on a move could be boosted by using BVB’s interest in a loan for Anthony Elanga to their advantage.
In the meantime, United face Reading in the FA Cup this evening, with the likes of Facundo Pellistri, Alejandro Garnacho and Harry Maguire in line to feature. More

Moises Caicedo told to stay away from Brighton training until window closes next week after Instagram transfer request

BRIGHTON have this morning told Arsenal that Moises Caicedo is categorically not for sale this month, while also telling the player to stay away from training until the window is closed. The Seagulls rejected Arsenal’s £60million offer on Friday and, in further talks this morning, have told the Gunners their star man is going nowhere.

The midfielder, 21, is valued at upwards of £80million and while another bid is expected from north London, owner Tony Bloom is set to reject further offers having already knocked back Chelsea earlier in January.
The Seagulls rejected a £60million offer from Arsenal on Friday morning, prompting Caicedo, 21, to make clear his desire to leave the club on social media that night.
Brighton do not want to lose their star man as they push to qualify for Europe for the first time in their history this season.
Caicedo’s post, crafted by his new agents and in which his hometown was miss-spelt, read: “I am grateful to Mr. Bloom and Brighton for giving me the chance to come to the Premier League and I feel I have always done my best for them. I always play football with a smile and with heart.

Brighton responded by asking their star man to stay away from training until the close of the window on February 1, sitting out Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Liverpool.
The hope is that a few days off will see the midfielder return in the right mindset for the second half of the campaign having missed out on a dream move.
Moises Caicedo has been outstanding for Brighton
Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi doesn’t want to lose Moises Caicedo
The Seagulls, who are sixth in the Premier League, are reluctant to sell their best player when there is a chance of European qualification is a realistic ambition this season.
Furthermore, unlike with the sale of Yves Bissouma or Marc Cucurella in the summer, the timing of Arsenal’s approach leaves next to no time to find a replacement.
Arsenal could still yet return with a bigger offer to test Brighton’s resolve, but the Seagulls have a track record of not being bullied into a deal that does not suit their terms.
The move came just hours after manager Roberto De Zerbi had praised Caicedo for his focus and attitude and said he had no concerns over playing the Ecuador international against Liverpool in the Cup tomorrow.
Brighton want Caicedo to use the time off to refocus ahead of what could be an historic end to the season, with De Zerbi’s side currently sixth in the table.

He said: “The opportunity if you are a good person and good player is there now but it will also be there now, in the summer and next winter. Always.
“I spoke with him only one time and his decision is with Tony Bloom and the club. I can say my advice, my vision and my idea but after this I stay in my place.
“I hope he can stay with us until the end of the season, because my opinion is that that is the best solution for both him and us.
“It’s always difficult to change in the season because you can find some problems. For our way, it’s important for him to stay for another four months.”
The Gunners are in the market for a midfielder after Mohamed Elneny suffered a long term knee injury, leaving Mikel Arteta short of cover.
Thomas Partey was forced off with a knock during Friday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City, but initial assessments have shown it is not a serious injury and the club are hopeful the midfielder will be fit for the trip to Arsenal next weekend.

Should Caicedo remain on the south coast, Arteta may be forced to turn to a move for Everton’s Amadou Onana or Martin Zubimendi, the Real Sociedad midfielder.
Despite the good news around Partey, the Gunners only have Albert Sambi Lokonga as cover for their first choice midfielders, with the Belgian yet to prove he is good enough for the club. More

Jose Mourinho ‘interested’ in shock return to struggling Chelsea with Roma boss desperate to come back to Prem

JOSE MOURINHO is reportedly in line to be in charge of Chelsea at the start of next season. The shock claim comes with Mourinho said to be growing frustrated at a lack of financial backing by Roma chiefs.

Mourinho took over as Roma boss in July 2021, tasting success with the inaugural Europa Conference League as the Italians lifted their first-ever European trophy at the end of last season.
However, the Daily Mail report the ex-Chelsea boss is “interested” in taking over for a third time, with the Stamford Bridge gig his “ideal” scenario.
The main factor causing three-time Prem winner Mourinho to want to leave the Serie A behind is said to be a lack of financial backing to facilitate a title push.
Roma currently sit level on points with Inter Milan and Lazio and are only separated on goal difference – putting them fifth in the table following Juventus’ 15-point penalty.

Since his arrival in 2021 – 11 years since his famous treble win with Inter – the club have allowed Mourinho to bring a number of big names.
These include but are not limited to Nemanja Matic, Paulo Dybala, Andrea Belotti, Tammy Abraham, Rui Patricio and Georginio Wijnaldum on loan – plus a cake he was given for his 60th birthday earlier this week.
In the four transfer windows he has been given, Roma have spent just under £120million, but £112m of this sum was spent in the first season.
In fact, the Mail’s report indicates Mourinho is “eager” to take any job in England next season due to his preference to work in the Premier League as well as his family still living in the English capital.

The Blues have struggled this season under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, with the latter recently overseeing a run of form which saw them win just once in 10 games.
But owner Todd Boehly has thrown his weight behind the former Brighton boss with a number of signings as he aggressively overhauls the squad.
The latest signing Chelsea are set to welcome is Lyon full-back Malo Gusto, though he will remain in France for the remainder of the season after the reported £26m move is finalised.
In the meantime, SunSport has revealed Potter took his under-fire squad for a team bonding exercise at an army base in Hampshire.
The club were knocked out of the FA Cup after being thrashed 4-0 by Manchester City, with Arsenal being the next scalp claimed by City after a 1-0 win last night. More
