Cheeky Man Utd fans demand statue of Adrien Rabiot’s mum after Casemiro’s stunning FA Cup double

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were left thanking Adrien Rabiot’s mum after last night’s FA Cup victory over Reading. Casemiro’s double saw United gain passage to the fifth-round of the competition as the Brazilian once again stole the show at Old Trafford.

His formidable performances since arriving in August have gained plaudits from fans and pundits – but it may have all been so different.
Rabiot was originally United’s main target to fill the hole in their midfield but the deal could not be done.
It has been reported that the robust demands of his agent mother, Veronique Rabiot, was the reason the move collapsed.
United fans could not help but pay tribute to her role in allowing Casemiro to wind up in Manchester.

One fan said on Twitter: “Thank you, Veronique Rabiot for giving us the best defensive midfielder in the world.
One supporter went even further with a tongue-in-cheek demand to “dedicate a statue” in the agent mum’s honour.
Another said: “Rabiot, we’ve all forgotten about him. Thank you, Véronique!”
And another fan, trying to underline the importance of Casemiro, said: “I’m telling you now. Take Casemiro out of that United side and replace him with Rabiot and we’d be 10 points worse off in the league at least.

“He’s absolutely pivotal to the improvement in this side.”
United are enjoying their most competitive season in years under Erik ten Hag.
A brilliant run of form following the World Cup had even sparked talk of a title challenge before last week’s defeat at the Emirates when Casemiro was suspended.
Despite that disappointment, United have bounced back with two victories in the cup competitions this week.
The Red Devils now have a FA Cup fifth round draw to look forward to and have one foot at Wembley for the Carabao Cup.
Next month will also see a huge Europa League clash as United face off against Barcelona over two legs. More

Jurgen Klopp says another manager would have been SACKED by now as Liverpool boss admits past success has saved him

JURGEN KLOPP admits his six Liverpool trophies have saved him from the sack. The under-fire Kop boss says he is still an elite manager but before today’s FA Cup clash at Brighton, he:

Warned his team may never again reach previous heights.
    Apologised for their woeful form.
Blamed the demise on the Reds’ appalling injury list.

The German said: “I didn’t become a bad manager overnight. I was never as good as people probably said or not as bad as some people might think.”
Klopp’s former European and Premier League champs have lost eight games this season — double the amount of last term — and are ninth, 21 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Liverpool won the domestic cup double last season, were pipped to the title by Manchester City and the Champions League by Real Madrid in the final.

Klopp added: “Imagine if you were here talking to another coach of Liverpool because last season we’d won all four trophies and I said, ‘See you later, holiday!’
“Imagine if you see a different face and he has to explain these things and he tells you how it is. Nobody would listen!
“They’d say last season was great and this year is not great — so go!
“You have to have wide shoulders and really just take it.

“It’s tough, I’m sorry. But we will go for it with all we have to get out of it and play in a way people can’t wait to go to the stadium again.
“So far, we’ve not given the fans much this season but we are still in two cup competitions and won’t give up in the league.”
Klopp’s Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup has secured the backing of the club’s American owners.
And with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle on the up, the 55-year-old said: “What happened in the league with City and us in the last few years was exceptional.
“Arsenal are sensational. Mikel Arteta is doing an outstanding job. United are in a really good moment, whatever happens there they will not stop investing and improving.
“If City do not win the league, Pep will not accept this kind of situation for a couple of years. They will go again. Tottenham, Newcastle and Brighton are doing really well.”
James Milner, Fabio Carvalho and Nat Phillips are doubts today with Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino injured. And with Luis Diaz, Arthur and Diogo Jota also out long term.
Klopp said: “Injuries to decisive players have made it a bad season so far and you cannot just replace them.” More

The highly-rated defender already played 54 matches for Lyon, registering six assists during that period.
And his arrival ahead of next season will see him provide some much-needed cover for James, who’s missed much of this campaign with two separate knee injuries.
James has endured long spells on the sidelines, forcing him to miss more than 15 matches in all competitions.
But the England star is in contention to return for Chelsea’s next game against Fulham on Friday.

Now Morris looks on the brink of officially taking his first job in management.
Sky Sports report that Frank Lampard’s former assistant has agreed to become the club’s new head coach.
Despite having no managerial experience, Morris has been involved with much high-level coaching in previous years.
He was Lampard’s No2 both at Derby and Chelsea, helping the Rams reach the play-offs and the Blues get into the top four despite a transfer ban.

Carroll received two yellow cards in the space of five minutes for fouls on Tyrell Malacia and Man of the Match Casemiro.
Fans went online to blast the “crazy” challenges, but it was a scissor kick from behind against Eriksen – which went unpunished – that is set to have the biggest impact.
The Danish international went off in the 57th minute for Fred.
However, Ten Hag and United fans alike will now be sweating over his fitness after Eriksen was spotted leaving Old Trafford on crutches with a suspected ankle injury.

Following the game, Ten Hag said: “It’s always difficult to say so soon after the game finished, but it’s an ankle [injury] and we have to see what the diagnosis is.
“It will be a minimum of 24 hours before we know that, and then I can say more.”
Eriksen, who joined for free in the summer after his short-term contract at Brentford expired, has been a key component of United’s engine room throughout the season.
He has featured in all but one game across all competitions for the club.

But now it seems he could be handed a prolonged absence, which will come as a bitter blow to United with some key fixtures coming up next month.
This includes a Carabao Cup final – should they not lose their three-goal lead over Nottingham Forest – the return of the Europa League and the top four race.
With Donny van de Beek’s season prematurely concluded through injury as well, one might be forgiven for believing United’s midfield could do with some extra cover.

So now he has been in touch with his closest friends in the squad to try and arrange a visit to his homeland — or even visit him in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo left United in November after criticising the club in an interview with Piers Morgan.
He signed a £170million-a-year deal with Saudi side Al Nassr — the richest football deal ever.
Ronaldo, 37, is currently having a luxury home built on the outskirts of Lisbon and has texted some of his pals at United about getting together over the summer.

He has also asked if they would be interested in watching him play for his new club in the Middle East, if schedules allow it.
A United insider said: “There are still a few lads here who have nothing but respect for Ronny and were sad how it all ended, because they never got to say a proper goodbye.
“He recently left the player WhatsApp groups but promised to keep in touch with a few and has invited them to his new place in Lisbon and to Saudi to watch him play.
“Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Raphael Varane are all mates.

“His place in Lisbon sounds incredible — and he can certainly now afford it!”
It is understood Ronaldo has also shipped his fleet of luxury motors back to Portugal.
The United source added: “A couple of the lads at the training ground hoped he’d raffle off one of his supercars, like Sergio Aguero did when he left City!”
Aguero gave City’s first-team staff a raffle ticket for his £40,000 Range Rover when he left the Etihad in 2021.
It was won by Ally Marland, one of the club’s kitmen. More
