Chelsea set to make another signing AFTER transfer window ends with £6m deal for Jimmy-Jay Morgan, 17, from Southampton

CHELSEA are set to sign teenage wonderkid Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Southampton – after the transfer window has closed. The Blues have agreed to pay a staggering £6million plus add-ons for the striker born in 2006.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Stamford Bridge club have struck a deal with Saints for the 17-year-old, pipping a host of clubs including Leeds to his signature.
Morgan is expected to put pen to paper on a three-year in West London after undergoing a medical today.
The teenager will link up with the Chelsea academy again to continue his development, despite being on the fringes of the Saints first team.
He first joined the youth set-up aged eight but left for Southampton due to the travel between his home and the club’s Cobham training ground.

Morgan proved his class in front of goal with 27 strikes for the Southampton Under-16s last season – and a further 13 for the U18s.
This term he was up to six goals and five assists in 13 youth games.
Southampton youth coach Louis Carey said the rising star is “one of the best” finishers he had witnessed at the academy.
New manager Nathan Jones added: “A fantastic player with a bright future if he picks the right choices and people working with him handle him well.”

Morgan appeared for the Saints’ U21s in the EFL Trophy earlier this season.
And he was selected in the first-team squads for the Carabao Cup win over Sheffield Wednesday in November and then the FA Cup victory at Crystal Palace last month.
Morgan is understood to have rejected an offer for a first professional contract at Southampton, where he had 18 months left on his current deal, before leaving for Chelsea.
He follows in the moves made by goalkeeper Eddie Beach and forward Tyler Dibling, who both moved from Southampton to the Blues last summer – although the latter returned due to homesickness.
On the international stage, Morgan has a prolific record of six goals in seven games for England U17s – including back-to-back braces against Georgia and Israel in European U17 Championship qualifying.
The teenage talent becomes Chelsea’s ninth winter signing – and takes the spending by Todd Boehly for the window beyond £330m.
Almost a third of that went on the £107m British transfer fee paid to Benfica for Enzo Fernandez.
Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke have also linked up with Graham Potter’s squad.
Malo Gusto joined from Lyon but has been loaned back for the remainder of the season while Joao Felix arrived on a temporary switch from Atletico Madrid in a bonkers January transfer window.

    Illia Zabarnyi – Bournemouth
Bournemouth’s new owners are hoping to beat the drop and splashed the cash on the some talent.

Kristiansen is an impressive Danish youth star, who already had 73 professional appearances to his name for Copenhagen.
    Jorginho – Arsenal
Arguably the best deal of the January transfer window for just £12m.

It was a club and British transfer record.
    Joao Gomes – Wolves
Struggling Prem side Wolves were in need of reinforcements under the new leadership of Julen Lopetegui.
Six players were brought in, but the most impressive is 21-year-old Gomes.
Joining from Flamengo for £15m, he will look to provide some steely determination alongside an already impressive midfield cohort of Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes and Joao Moutinho.
    Mykhailo Mudryk – Chelsea
The first Ukrainian wonderkid to end up in the Prem last month, followed by Zabarnyi.
Mudryk, 22, joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88m.
His debut was more than impressive at Anfield, nearly breaking the deadlock after a mazy run.
    Cody Gakpo – Liverpool
One of the World Cup’s stars, scoring three for Holland in their run to the quarter-finals.
Gakpo joined Liverpool from PSV for £45m, and is seen as one of the bargains of the window.

Dad-of-four Lampard was wrapped up in a black gilet jacket and beanie hat with white Nike trainers.
Christine, who is mum to two of Frank’s kids and step-mum to the other two, opted for a long camel-coloured coat with black trousers and pumps and a Chanel bag.

The couple have been married for seven years but spent most of 2022 at opposite ends of the country with Lamps on Merseyside and Christine with the kids in London.
Lampard saw his time at Goodison Park terminated after less than a year in charge following a miserable run of results.
Everton were joint bottom of the Premier League with just one win in his last 12 games.
Lampard knew his time was up as soon as the full-time whistle blew at the London Stadium and said his goodbyes to his backroom team before the fateful phone call from owner Farhad Moshiri 48 hours later.

The former Derby and Chelsea boss – who was succeeded by Sean Dyche – broke his silence on Instagram last Thursday to send a message to the Everton fans.
He said: “Coming in to Everton last year I knew we were in a tough moment and I will always be proud of the incredible work and support from everyone involved to keep the team in the Premier League last season.
“Thanks to everybody that played their part as the whole club came together. I will never forget the incredible night against Palace that we shared.
“I want to thank all Evertonians for the welcome that you gave to myself, my staff, and my family.
“It truly is a special club with a huge heart, and an incredible history.
“I’m disappointed that we couldn’t achieve more together and wish all the players and everyone at Everton FC the very best for the future.”
    ‘LOVE TO BE BACK’
As revealed by SunSport, Lampard is plotting a comeback to a top-flight dugout as soon as possible – but a move abroad could be on the cards.
A source said: “Frank is devastated at how things worked out at Everton. He loved the club, and he loved the fans – and he dearly wanted to make things work.
“He worked tirelessly to try and achieve that. He accepts he came up short but, at the same time, he thinks the whole experience will only make him stronger as a manager.
“He is 100 per cent looking to the future. He will take a holiday, reflect, but would love to be back in the game soon.

“A move abroad to somewhere like Spain, Holland, Germany or even America really appeals to Frank. He thinks he needs a fresh start to reset.

Enzo Fernandez’s Chelsea shirt number ‘leaked’ – but £107m midfielder looks set to miss out on two favourites

ENZO FERNANDEZ has been given his new Chelsea shirt number – after missing out on his two favourites. The 2022 World Cup winning Argentine has completed his dream move to Chelsea after a late deadline day deal.
Enzo Fernandez has signed for Chelsea in a British record £107million dealCredit: PA
He is set to become the most expensive Premier League signing ever at £107million ahead of his official unveiling.
But Fernandez looks to have missed out on his favoured No13, which he wore at both River Plate and Benfica.
He even used the number in his social media accounts but unfortunately Chelsea’s fourth-choice stopper Marcus Bettinelli occupies that jersey.
Fernandez wears No24 for Argentina but again star right-back Reece James already has that for the Blues.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Fortunately for the new man, the No5 shirt is now vacant after Jorginho left in a shock deal to London rivals Arsenal.
And leaked images online have revealed that is the exact option that Fernandez has gone for.

Jorginho inherited the jersey from Kurt Zouma, who had taken it off Chelsea legend Michael Essien when he left in 2014.
Fernandez, 22, had a medical in Lisbon on Tuesday but talks stalled over the payment structure.

Eventually, an agreement was met and he signed an EIGHT-AND-A-HALF year contract, which will run until June 2031.
The deal eclipses the £100m Manchester City spent on Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish in 2021.
And it takes Chelsea’s outlay over the last two windows to a colossal £602m when add-ons and loan fees are included.
