And he was thrown straight into the action on Saturday as he started their Ligue 1 clash against Lille.
Spence lined up alongside Spurs loanee Joe Rodon, who’s also spending the season in France, and wore the No.90 shirt for the first time.
Ultimately, it proved a disappointing night for Rennes as they squandered a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 with their top four hopes suffering a major blow.
But Tottenham fans who tuned in to watch Spence were left delighted by what they saw with the 22-year-old going close to scoring and assisting.

A second said: “Baller, thank god it’s not permanent.”
A third responded: “Blows my mind he’s on loan.”

Another said: “This guy was ready all along 🥲 we just didn’t give him a chance.”
A sixth person even compared him to an ex-Tottenham full-back.
He said: “Djed Spence resembles Kyle Walker more than any other full-back that Spurs have signed since his departure.
“Pure acceleration to beat his man, and equally at ease coming infield. No surprise he had plenty of interest in the January window.”
Rennes’ next game is against Toulouse on Sunday, while Spence could also get his first proper taste of European football on Thursday week when they travel to Shakhtar Donetsk for their Europa League play-off. More

Graeme Souness delivers stinging jibe at Chelsea owner Todd Boehly over £107m Enzo Fernandez transfer

GRAEME SOUNESS says Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has had his “trousers taken down” over the transfers of £107million Enzo Fernandez and Co.The Blues have spent north of £600million since the American’s takeover last year.

World Cup-winning midfielder Fernandez was the cherry on top on deadline day last month, joining for a British transfer record fee.
But despite Chelsea splashing the cash, Graham Potter’s men have just one win in their last six Premier League games.
They played out a goalless draw against West London rivals Fulham in their last outing – a game which saw £107m Fernandez make his debut.
Liverpool legend and football pundit, Souness, is far from impressed by the Blues’ ownership.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Writing for the Daily Mail, Souness fumed: “Who on earth is advising Todd Boehly at Chelsea?
“He might be an American investor with extremely deep pockets who fancies his chances as a Premier League high roller, but who is actually providing intelligence and assessment on the value of the players he is buying?
“When it comes to Fernandez, Chelsea have paid a premium on top of a premium on top of a premium.
“A premium because it is the Premier League calling.

“A premium because it is Chelsea. A premium because they want this player now.
“Boehly is the latest super-rich businessman learning about our football the hard way and having his trousers taken down when it comes to transfer dealings, by not knowing the value of the players he is buying.”
Ex-Arsenal star Paul Merson has also echoed the same concerns, and fears for the club should they miss out on Champions League football.
Chelsea are sat 9th in the Prem and 10 points behind fourth-place Newcastle.
In a column for the Daily Star, Merson wrote: “I worry for the future of Chelsea when Todd Boehly is handing out eight-year contracts like there is no tomorrow.
“Football is a funny old game and eight years is such a long time — there is going to be a domino effect at Stamford Bridge – that’s for sure.
“It’s alright now but in five years, where are Chelsea going to be?
“Boehly and the new hierarchy can’t keep doing this because if they don’t get Champions League football, they’re already in trouble.” More

Manchester City ace Rico Lewis now makes £25,000 per week
The right-back also made history by becoming the Citizens’ youngest ever Champions League scorer with a goal in the 3-1 victory over Sevilla during his full debut in the competition.
City are set to reward the England Under-19 international with a bumper new deal that will see him earn £25,000 per week.
That means the defender will be bagging an approximate £1,300,000 per year.
Lewis, who has been on £5,000 per week, will now be making more than fellow young star Cole Palmer, who is the senior squad’s lowest earner with £20,000 per week.

Of course, the full-back is miles off City’s highest earners with the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne bagging more in just one afternoon.
Haaland – the second highest earner – makes £19,500,000 per year, which means he pockets over £53,000 per day.
And top earner De Bruyne, who is on £20,800,000 per year, earns almost £57,000 per day.
But Lewis is definitely on the right path as he has already amassed 18 appearances across all competitions this season.

Fans in hysterics as they realise who Liverpool’s top Prem goalscorer is since the World Cup after horrendous run

FANS are in hysterics after discovering who Liverpool’s top Premier League goalscorer is since the World Cup.The Reds’ disastrous form in 2023 continued as they slipped to a 3-0 defeat at Wolves on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah hasn’t scored in the Premier League since Boxing DayCredit: Rex
Jurgen Klopp’s side have now collected just one point from their last four league matches and are a massive 11 points behind the top four.
They’ve also gone more than FIVE hours without scoring since Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struck at Brentford on 2 January.
Overall, Liverpool have found the net only six times in as many games since football returned after the break for the World Cup.
Alongside Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Stefan Bajcetic have all scored once.

It means that the Reds’ top scorer during that period is actually Leicester defender Wout Faes, who scored two own goals in the game at Anfield in late-December.
That one statistic perhaps highlights Liverpool’s problems up front right now and fans on social media simply cannot believe it.
One said: “😂😂😂😂. We’re indeed finished.”

Billionaire Man Utd fan Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘to bid for club THIS WEEK but Glazers want to hold out for £8billion’

MANCHESTER UNITED fan and billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to be among those bidding for the club this week, according to reports. It was revealed back in November that current owners, the Glazer family, are open to selling United or welcoming a new investor.

The Glazers supposedly want to hold out for a fee of £8billion to sell the whole club.
Formal bids are expected to be placed this week and an early front-runner in the bidding race is Ratcliffe, who made his money via chemicals company Ineos.
Ratcliffe, 70, is worth £15billion and has formally stated his interest.
He previously put in a last-gasp offer for Chelsea and he also owns French side Nice, Swiss outfit Lausanne and a third of F1 team Mercedes.

The Daily Mail claim that initial offers for Man Utd could be worth at least £4billion.
However, more than that could be needed as the Glazers could reportedly look to delay the sale due to on-pitch success since the arrival of Ten Hag.
They believe that if they continue to see an upward turn in performances then the club could be worth more in the near future.
Any potential new chiefs will need a lot of funds with Old Trafford in need of renovation.

Additionally, the Glazers could leave behind £500million in debts, suggest the Mirror, amid fears the price tag to buy United could put off deep-pocketed suitors.
In an attempt to attract potential investors, co-owner Avram Glazer reportedly flew to the World Cup in Qatar to hold informal discussions.
United also opened a shop in the luxury Swiss ski resort Davos during the World Economic Forum to make wealthy businessmen there aware that they could get buy the club.
If any deal does happen, it appears likely US bank Raine, who organised Chelsea’s sale to Todd Boehly for £4.25billion, could again be involved in the purchase of Man Utd.
The group helps facilitate huge deals and would select a few viable offers, progressing them on to the next stages of the bidding process.
Meanwhile, Liverpool is also up for sale as owners Fenway Sports Group put the team on the market last year.
Qatar Sports Investments, who run Paris Saint-Germain, are said to be interest in Liverpool but have the financial power to also like the look of United. More

But against the Eagles he was the player sacrificed after Casemiro was sent off.
Garnacho was taken off 30 minutes after replacing Wout Weghorst in the 59th minute as Ten Hag shut up shop with United in a precarious 2-1 lead.
Defender Harry Maguire took his place and Ten Hag warned Garnacho that he has to accept being substituted.
The United boss told MUTV: “First we had to see how they changed, then you have to anticipate and see how we can close, how to be compact, how we close the gaps, how we get away from our goal but also still have a threat in attack.

“I think we had to change something.
“It’s not always nice bringing off a player who we brought on but it’s in the interests of the team and the player has to accept that.”
Garnacho is very highly rated at Old Trafford and is on the brink of agreeing a new five-and-a-half year contract.
But as the most inexperienced player on the pitch against Palace Ten Hag decided to take him off.

A melee sparked by Jeffrey Schlupp’s challenge on Anthony resulted in Casemiro raising his hands to Hughes.
Footage showed the Brazilian with his hands around the Palace player’s throat, leading ref Andre Marriner to send him off after reviewing the incident on the VAR monitor.
Agbonhalor likened Casemiro’s actions to that of a UFC star and called on United to discipline him.

“This isn’t ice hockey in America where they have a scrap during the game. This is football, we don’t want to see that.
“So Casemiro needs to be disciplined by Manchester United.”

But Ayew went unpunished and was able to continue in the match.
After the game, Ten Hag hit out at Marriner for not giving out the same punishment to the attacker as he did with Casemiro.
He said: “The player from Crystal Palace takes a big risk by this foul – that he get badly injured – by pushing him over the line.
“Everyone is reacting, Crystal Palace players and Man United players, and not only Casemiro.
“There was one of the players, he did even worse than Casemiro.
