And Manchester United legend Neville was amazed at the poor service for goal machine Erling Haaland.
The star summer buy had netted 25 times in 19 Premier League games – but in his 20th match on Sunday he failed to have a single shot for the first time.
Passer-in-chief Kevin de Bruyne was left on the bench until the 59th minute.
And even though City were behind from Harry Kane’s historic strike on the quarter-hour mark, Guardiola’s men couldn’t even break through after Cristian Romero’s late red card.

Neville told Sky Sports: “Haaland is making the runs. He is ready to go, they (City players) are just not playing them.
“The amount of runs he makes that get ignored is incredible.”
Fellow pundits Graeme Souness and Micah Richards agreed.
Former Liverpool hardman Souness said: “Haaland and De Bruyne are the most successful partnership in the Premier League.”

And ex-City defender Richards said: “In fairness to Haaland he’s making SO many runs and no one is seeing him.”
Guardiola tried out a new look, with Julian Alvarez partnering Haaland.
Behind them midfielders Rodri and Bernardo Silva were flanked by Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish.

But City struggled against Spurs’ stubborn defending and pacy counter-attacks.
And Kane’s drilled winner took him to a Tottenham record of 267 goals, passing fellow England great Jimmy Greaves.

Arsenal fans all say the same thing as Harry Kane’s winner against Man City hands neighbours huge title boost

The star striker also broke club legend Jimmy Greaves’ scoring record as he netted his 267th goal for the North Londoners.
The England international made history with Tottenham, but cheeky Gooners claim he remembered his Arsenal past.
The 29-year-old started his football journey with Spurs’ rivals as a child.
But Kane was dropped from Arsenal’s famous Hale End academy for being “chubby” in 2002.

However, that didn’t stop certain Gooners from praising the England skipper, who denied City the chance of coming closer to Mikel Arteta’s highfliers.
This comes after Arsenal lost only their second Prem match this season against Everton, but Kane’s winner made sure the Citizens wouldn’t cut the deficit to two points.
One fan tweeted: “Proper @Arsenal fan. Congratulations on your milestone.”
Another posted: “Harry Kane can’t wait for the Arsenal trophy parade.”

A third wrote: “Tottenham and Harry Kane helping Arsenal win the title, the reason to have a good neighbour…. the Premier League is coming to North London.”
This fan said: “Agent Harry Kane to the rescue. Once a Gooner, always one! Thank you, Tottenham.”
And that one tweeted: “Arsenal Haters: Arsenal won’t win the Trophy this season (After the Everton defeat).
“Agent Harry Kane: Hold my beer against Man City.”

Arsenal fans remembered Harry Kane’s past as a young Gooner
But no one was happier than Kane after his landmark goal for Antonio Conte’s side.
The Tottenham superstar said: “It is hard to put into words. Just a magical moment, I was desperate to do it with a win as well. I wanted to win so bad.
“Once we went 1-0 up it was about just keeping a clean sheet. To do it in front of the home fans, it is a moment I will never forget.
“There has been so much talk about it the last couple of weeks, I just wanted to get it done as soon as possible. To do it in a big game against one of the best teams in the world. It is a special feeling.” More

That was his 267th strike for the club and saw him move ahead of Jimmy Greaves as the club’s all-time top scorer.
And as soon as he was in the dressing-room the absent Conte was straight on the blower to his superstar.
And although much of the conversation is difficult to listen in to, Conte can clearly be heard saying “you make me proud”.
The Italian gaffer also posted a photo on his Instagram account showing Kane being mobbed by his team-mates after the game.

Conte captioned it: “Always with You, even from afar. Proud of the whole Team.”
Spurs managed to topple the reigning champions without their manager following his recent op as he is still in Turin recovering.
Conte, 53, was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday to undergo surgery after suffering from severe abdominal pain.
Tottenham then confirmed that their manager has been diagnosed with cholecystitis which is inflammation of the gallbladder.

But a transfer failed to materialise as the Foxes clung on to their playmaker.
Manchester United are keen on Tielemans as the ex-Monaco ace prepares to decide on his future.
However, Team Talk claims that it is Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal that are “overwhelming favourites” to get him.
That is despite the fact that the Premier League leaders snapped up midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea after failing to land Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has also reported that Tielemans will still be on Arteta’s shortlist once the window re-opens.
He said: “Come the summer, if Tielemans is available on a free transfer, there’ll be a variety of clubs looking at him.
“Arsenal will still be there for sure and we know that Tielemans very much wanted that move a year ago and was hopeful that something might come off throughout the summer, but Arsenal moved in a different direction.”
Tielemans arrived at Leicester on loan from Monaco in January 2019 and signed permanently six months later in a £32m move.

    Conte’s Spurs back on track
Following their victory over Man City this evening, Tottenham find themselves only a point behind fourth-placed Newcastle.
They travel to Leicester in their next Premier League fixture before welcoming West Ham and Chelsea to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for London derbies.
Harry Kane and co also have a little trip to Milan for a Champions League tie at the San Siro Stadium.
Spurs’ fans will be bouncing after today’s result, feeling the club have got their season back on the right path.
    City needing to bounce back
After missing out on the chance to close the gap between them and Arsenal, it is important that Man City get back to winning ways.
The next five games could shape the rest of their season, with a trip to The Emirates thrown in the mix.
Pep Guardiola’s side also have the distraction of a Champions League ‘Round of 16′ to contend with unlike Mikel Arteta’s table-toppers.

    Questions asked of Guardiola’s champions
With the absence of the creativity of Kevin De Bruyne in the heart of their midfield today, the defending champions of the Premier League were left wanting in North London.
As was seen by the performance of Hojbjerg, it was easy for Tottenham to get in and amongst them.
When they did have the ball, they lacked the creative flair of the Belgian which must ask questions of City moving forward.
    City defence left wanting
Rodri will need to accept the responsibility for the Tottenham goal today but the entire back line were culpable for lethargic play at the back.
There was more of a hunger from Tottenham, wanting to hassle and hound them to win the ball back.
Lewis was robbed of the ball after Rodri’s pass put him in trouble and Harry Kane was to punish them for it.
    City felled by hurri-Kane
He’s one of their own, his goal was the difference between the sides today.
Harry Kane became Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer today with his 200th Premier League goal today.
It is quite fitting that his strike was enough to grab all three points in front of his own fans.
