    Goodnight from Old Trafford
That brings an end to our coverage from what an excellent game between two sides who will do it all again in Yorkshire on Sunday.
Despite leading 2-0 and being just 30 minutes away from their first EVER Premier League victory at Old Trafford, it’s a really useful point from Leeds.
Meanwhile, United’s faint title hopes are surely all over with Arsenal now seven points ahead with two games in hand.
And with Erik ten Hag’s side now just four points above fifth place Tottenham, maybe their short-term focus will be on securing a place in the top four.
    Goodnight.
    Sancho makes his mark
It’s been a tough couple of months for Jadon Sancho, but he really looked desperate to make an impression tonight.
And he did exactly that when he fired home the equaliser, his first Premier League goal since the beginning of September.
You could see how much it meant to him too.

    FT. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Here are the stats from an extremely entertaining game.
Erik ten Hag’s side dominated much of the game as the numbers below show, but Leeds put in a huge shift and deserved a point at least.
But the result and performance should give Leeds huge belief and confidence ahead of the game at Elland Road on Sunday.

    FT. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
It’s all over and that brings to an end a pulsating second half.
Leeds were in dreamland when they led 2-0 thanks to Gnonto’s early strike and an own goal from Varane.
But United battled back and claim a point following quickfire goals from Rashford and Sancho.
United stay two points behind Manchester City, while Leeds climb above West Ham and into 16th.

    90+3. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Nervy moments later on for Leeds as Sancho does well again and it once again falls for Fred, but he scuffs his effort and the away side survive.
We’re into the final two minutes at Old Trafford.
    90+1. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Another chance for Fred as the ball falls nicely for him 25 yards out but his effort lacks power and is easy for Meslier.
    90. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Both teams going all out for the winner.
Sancho does well down the left and cuts back for Fred but he doesn’t get hold of the shot and it’s blocked.
Leeds make a double change with McKennie and Gnonto replaced by Greenwood and Joseph.
We’re going to have another five minutes of added time.
    87. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Bruno wins a free-kick in a dangerous position on the right following a challenge from Firpo.
The Portugal star picks himself up to take the delivery but Rashford can’t get enough contact at the near-post and Meslier makes the save.
    86. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
    Best chance for some time.
Shaw sends over a cross and Bruno has a free header, but he just can’t reach it and nods wide.
    85. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
United continue to search for a winner, but the home side are creating very little in these latter stages.
    81. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Nearly something out of nothing for Bruno, who eventually finds space but can only fire over.
Double change for United with Dalot and Sabitzer replaced by Malacia and Lindelof.

    80. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Despite generally being on the back foot for the last 20 minutes or so, Leeds are still looking for a winner.
Gnonto gets away from Sabitzer and is taken down with the United midfielder booked.
    76. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
United are pouring forward and Firpo is booked for pulling down Rashford when he’s away.
But they have less than 15 minutes to turn one point into three and complete the turnaround.
And they almost do exactly that as Bruno crosses for Varane, whose header is pushed over by Meslier.
    73. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
Gnonto still trying to go forward, but United are on top and the roof has been raised at Old Trafford.
The crowd are up and there only appears to be one winner…
    70. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds
    United are level.
Shaw and Sancho combine well and the ball falls for the latter inside the box and he takes a touch before curling into the far corner.
It’s a tidy finish from Sancho, but it’s poor goalkeeping from Meslier.

    70. Manchester United 2-2 Leeds

    67. Manchester United 1-2 Leeds
United are pushing to make it 2-2, but Leeds are still going for a third.
This promises to be an action-packed final 20 or so minutes.
    62. Manchester United 1-2 Leeds
    Game on!
Dalot sends over a fine cross from the right and Rashford climbs highest to plant a superb header past Meslier.
15 goals in his last 20 games for Rashford, who’s also scored in six consecutive Premier League games at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Harrison and Bamford are replaced by Aaronson and Rutter.
And Aaronson almost makes an immediate impact as his curling free-kick crashes off the post.

    62. Manchester United 1-2 Leeds

    61. Manchester United 0-2 Leeds
United are on top and have improved since the subs but they’re not getting much change out of Leeds.
The away side are less than 30 minutes away from surely one of their best ever Premier League results.

    58. Manchester United 0-2 Leeds
Double change for United as Ten Hag opts to introduce Pellistri, who makes his Premier League debut, and Sancho.
Garnacho and Weghorst are the men replaced.
    55. Manchester United 0-2 Leeds
Leeds are definitely not settling for this and are continuing to come forward in numbers.
Up the other end, Rashford drags a shot wide, much to the enjoyment of the travelling faithful.
Meanwhile, Adams is booked for bringing down Fred.
    53. Manchester United 0-2 Leeds
McKennie gets involved in a niggle with Fred and is booked.
United players and fans are becoming frustrated by what’s unfolding.
    48. Manchester United 0-2 Leeds
What a scoreline we have here.
Leeds make another bright start to the half and they’re rewarded within three minutes.
Summerville gets in behind the United defence and his cross goes in off Varane, leaving De Gea with no chance.

    48. Manchester United 0-2 Leeds

Premier League’s case against Man City over 115 FFP breaches could take FOUR YEARS for verdict, says top sports lawyer

THE Premier League’s case against Manchester City’s could take as many as FOUR YEARS to resolve, according to top sports lawyers. Man City were charged with 115 breaches of financial rules earlier this week in bombshell accusations launched by the Premier League.
It’s been a long week for City boss Pep GuardiolaCredit: Getty
The outcomes could be severe for Pep Guardiola’s side with the stripping of titles and points deductions potential punishments on the table.
Whatever happens, respected sports lawyer Nick De Marco KC said it could take quite a while to play out.
De Marco, who has represented Mike Ashley at Newcastle and been involved in Derby and Sheffield Wednesday’s financial fair play cases, believes the whole situation could drag out on until 2027.
He added to The Times: “I worked on the Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday financial fair play cases, both of which involved two charges over about two years and took about a year and a half from charges to the end.

“I would not be surprised if these proceedings took considerably longer given there are apparently 115 charges covering a period of 14 years.”
Meanwhile, Stefan Borson, chief executive and general counsel of Watchstone Group plc, told the same publication he also doubted the case would be speedily addressed.
He said: “These allegations appear to be about as serious as they get for a company and its board of directors.
“The seriousness of these allegations is likely to mean it will be a long time before the disciplinary process can be completed — I would not be at all surprised if it took in excess of two years.”

City will have to defend themselves against numerous charges
City are under investigation for alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018, a period in which the club won the league three times.
They have repeatedly denied the charges and said they were “surprised” by the Premier League’s findings in a brief statement.
The club has hired Boris Johnson’s Partygate lawyer as they look to beef up their legal team for what will likely be an extraordinary battle in the courts.

In recent seasons, Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle and Spurs have all been linked with the Croatia star.
According to InterLive.it, Tottenham remain very keen on the midfielder, with boss Antonio Conte familiar with Brozovic from their two-year stint working together at Inter.
During that time, Inter were runners-up in the Europa League in 2020 and won the Serie A in 2021.
Conte would like Brozovic as part of his Tottenham rebuild should the ex-Italy boss sign fresh terms beyond the summer of 2023, which is when his deal expires.

However, the report goes on to state that Barca are also keen on the Inter star.
Brozovic is under contract at the San Siro until 2026, and the player isn’t believed to be keen on a move away.
But Inter’s financial situation could force the club’s hand.
Inter chiefs Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to make cash by selling him.

An offer between £17.7million and £22.1m plus Japhet Tanganga is expected to be submitted.
Brozovic showed his class at the World Cup last November-December, helping Croatia to a second consecutive semi-final appearance.
However, he was unable to help his country to back-to-back finals, as they fell to a defeat at the hands of eventual winners Argentina. More

Man Utd and Liverpool ‘to send scouts to PSV to watch on-loan Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite’ after impressive form

LIVERPOOL and Manchester United have sent scouts to watch centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, according to reports. The 20-year-old defender is currently on loan at Eredivisie side PSV.

And this has led to increased interest from the likes of Man Utd and LiverpoolCredit: Getty
The English centre-back has appeared in 18 games for the Dutch club this season.
His performances and nature as a far rarer left-footed centre-back are said to be piquing the interest of the two English giants.
And according to the Daily Mail, they will both send scouts to watch Branthwaite and keep an eye on his progress throughout the rest of the season.
Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has made no secret for his desire to have a left-footed player on the left side of his defence, with Lisandro Martinez one of the priority signings for him last summer.

Jose Mourinho’s Roma are also sending scouts in the hope of landing the defender.
Branthwaite, who has a contract which runs until 2025 at Goodison Park, has benefitted from the faith shown in him from boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti originally handed the ex-Carlisle star his debut, but he then lost his confidence under his successor Frank Lampard.
With this climaxing with his sending off against Brentford near the end of the season.

But despite his development seemingly going well, Everton could be convinced to sell up if they lose their Premier League place at the end of the season.
Naturally, Everton’s fierce rivalry with Liverpool could see them prefer to sell the defender to another club, but with their Prem status under threat, choices may be limited.
Reaction from Liverpool fans about the link was less than welcoming to say the least.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “This makes no sense at all.”
A second declared: “Rock bottom if we sign a player 18th placed our massive rival Everton don’t want.”
    Another blasted: “Joke club!!”
New Everton manager Sean Dyche made an immediate impact by guiding the Toffees to a 1-0 win over league leaders Arsenal.
However, they still remain in the relegation zone, albeit only due to an inferior goal difference to Leeds United, who recently sacked Jesse Marsch. More

She said: “I am not aware that any agreement has been signed with Tottenham Hotspur. That would only happen after agreements from the Treasury. So we do not have a deal, as far as government is concerned.”

Gary Neville slams Chelsea for overpaying on two ‘strange’ transfers and makes unflattering Boehly comparison

GARY NEVILLE is stunned by Chelsea’s “strange” overspending as he compared Todd Boehly’s “chaotic” spree to that of an infamous Premier League rival.Manchester United legend Nev singled out two “mad” fees paid amid the Blues’ £600million splash-out since Boehly took over in the summer.
Gary Neville is puzzled by Chelsea’s extraordinary spending under Todd BoehlyCredit: PA
Manager Graham Potter has been given the freedom to spend big by Todd Boehly, but it’s not been matched by results on the pitchCredit: Getty
Chelsea boss Graham Potter spent £326m in January alone, notably £107m on British record buy Enzo Fernandez and £88m for Mykhailo Mudryk.
Yet the Blues are only ninth – below South London rivals Brentford and Fulham, as well as ten points adrift of the top four.
Many pundits doubt if any improvement in Potter’s squad matches the amount spent.
And there are also questions about how quickly a new-look team can gel, given that seven senior newcomers arrived last month.
    MORE TOP CHELSEA NEWS
Above all, Neville is amazed Chelsea paid so much for anchorman Fernandez and £64m left-back Marc Cucurella.
And he believes the spree is similar to the way Ed Woodward tried to buy “everyone” when launching his decade of £900m hit-and-miss buying as Old Trafford executive vice-chairman.
Woodward’s reign included the dubious value derived from £89m midfielder Paul Pogba, £80m centre-back Harry Maguire, £77m winger Jadon Sancho (£77m) and £75m hitman Romelu Lukaku (£75m).
And Nev told Sky Bet’s The Overlap: “It felt like that at Chelsea in the summer. It was chaotic.

“Marc Cucurella for £64m and Enzo Fernandez for £107m – that’s a full-back and a midfielder who will sit at the base of a three.
“The ceiling on those types of players – like Rodri, Fabinho, Casemiro – they are £50-60m positions.
“These aren’t players that are playing in the forward part of the pitch and scoring you 30 goals, so what they’re paying for the positions, what they’re getting for the money, they just seem like strange transfers.
“I’m not saying the players are no good. They could be really good and could go on to be great. But the fees for players in those positions seem mad to me.”
