Neville made the gag after seeing Pep Guardiola’s men overcome a troublesome week by beating Aston Villa 3-1.
City have been charged with over 100 breaches of Prem rules.
But the champs have vowed to fight the allegations with all their power.
After the match on Sky Sports, presenter Kelly Cates promoted a show about City’s thrilling promotion battle in 1999, titled “We’re not really here: Man City.”

This prompted Neville to quip: “Might not be in a few years…”
The ex-United right-back then burst out laughing, but fellow pundit and City icon Micah Richards was not too happy.
He said to Neville: “Tone it down, will you?”
Neville replied: “I’m only joking Micah, relax. You can’t joke anymore?”

Cates intervened, saying: “We nearly got through it Gary.
“We can’t pre-judge the outcome of any investigation as you well know.
“From all of us here, I think it’s probably best we go, don’t you?”
Neville has not held back on his opinion of the charges aimed at City, saying the Premier League will look “incompetent” if the champs aren’t proven guilty.
And Neville is also backing Arsenal to end City’s winning run by lifting their first title since 2004 at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, fellow pundit Roy Keane hit out at Jack Grealish for appearing to dive against Villa,
Grealish won a penalty which was converted by Riyad Mahrez.
And Keane said: “You have to give the penalty, Jack was being very, very smart. Very naïve the defending from Ramsay but he does kind of catch him.

“Jack kicks himself more than anything else. He’s more like Tom Daley but I think it is a penalty and it’s clever from Jack.
“He gets his body across, he knows exactly what he is doing – gives the referee almost no option but to give the penalty.” More

Various parties are lining up offers ahead of Friday’s “soft” deadline – with legendary ex-manager Alex Ferguson also tipped to be asked by bidders to help them.
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is “determined” to battle it out with American and Middle Eastern investors for the winning offer.
And Old Trafford legend Beckham, 47, is regarded as a priceless acquisition for those hoping to snap up his former club.
The ex-Real Madrid Galactico has invested in football in recent years, namely by creating his own MLS franchise Inter Miami.

But The Telegraph understand he has so far turned down all approaches to be involved in the United bidding.
It’s also suggested he would not be part of any offer from Qatar, despite being made a football ambassador for the country ahead of last year’s World Cup.
Bloomberg claim the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, will be behind a massive bid.

Uefa rules state if clubs have the the same owners – directly or indirectly – only one of them can play in each European tournament.
That of course would be a huge problem if PSG and United both qualified for the Champions League.
But it’s suggested Sheikh Tamim and Co would try to get round the restriction by putting forward a bid from individual Qatari investors – separate from Qatar Sports Investment.
Meanwhile, Ratcliffe has recruited others to help him raise funds for a potential approach for United.
The lifelong Red Devils’ fan is worth around £6.33bn and was linked with buying out Chelsea last summer. More

Fans joke Klopp has forgotten why he selected Liverpool pair against Everton after reaction to Neville question

FOOTBALL fans joked Jurgen Klopp had forgotten why he recalled Jordan Henderson and Fabinho before their 2-0 win over Everton on Monday night. The German boss, 55, made two changes for Monday night’s clash at Anfield following a dismal 3-0 defeat to Wolves last weekend.
Gary Neville asked Jurgen Klopp why he made the two changes in midfieldCredit: Twitter @footballdaily
Klopp initially seemed baffled as to why he had made the alterationsCredit: Twitter @footballdaily
And it was in the midfield that the alterations took place as Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita dropped out for Henderson and Fabinho.
Thiago’s absence was confirmed in the build-up as he is set to be sidelined for some time with a hip injury.
But Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was still intrigued about why Klopp had made the double change – a question that also appeared to stump the Liverpool manager.
Neville asked: “Jurgen, you’ve made two changes to your team tonight, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho come back in. Is that because of their experience and it being a Merseyside derby?”

Apparently flustered by the question, Klopp took a moment to think about his response, before he eventually replied: “Was that a part of the decision? I’m not sure”.
Neville then presses further in a jovial manner, adding: “Why did you pick them then?”
And the enquiry received a chuckle from Klopp as fans poked fun at the interaction on social media.
One person said: “Bro forgot 😭😭😭😭😭”.

    Another added: “Jurgen’s like… 😲😮😬🤔😅”.
And a third responded: “😂😂 Klopp is too funny”.
Despite initial confusion, Klopp did end up elaborating on why he had brought the two midfielders back in for the game.
He went on to say: “We had a long training week, we had seven sessions. It’s long and everybody could show up and they showed up.
“Fabinho had a really good training week. We all know it is not his best season so far but in training he looked really, really good, so that was clear that we bring him.
“And with Hendo he is always close to get into the team.
“Obviously the Thiago situation is not cool for us, he will be out for a while with a hip problem. So we had to make one decision at least and we made two.”
It ended up working out for Klopp as his dominant midfield controlled Everton all evening.
And the victory over their Merseyside rivals moves them up to ninth in the table, but still 10 points adrift of the top four. More

HARRY MAGUIRE is “growing to accept” he will leave Manchester United this summer – with a Champions League giant already on his trail. But it means boss Erik ten Hag taking a hit of around HALF on the £80million United paid Leicester for the England centre-back four years ago.

The Mail claim both club and player are moving towards agreement on a departure in the next transfer window.
Ten Hag has settled on Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his first-choice defensive pairing.
And he’s even chosen left-back Luke Shaw above Maguire in the middle.
The Three Lions’ duo were, however, picked together when Ten Hag rested Varane and Martinez for Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League win at Leeds.

Maguire is under contract until 2025 and earning about £180,000 a week.
But West Ham were interested in a January loan move and Italian side Inter Milan are said to be serious admirers.
The second-placed Serie A club also reportedly inquired about borrowing him last month ahead of a possible bid in the summer.
Maguire has admitted he “doesn’t want to get used to” his bit-part role.

But he has also insisted he expects to get plenty of game time as United’s fixtures pile up.
After returning to play the whole game at Leeds, he said: “It’s not about me, it’s about the club being successful and I want to be a part of it.
“I’m the captain and I put the team miles before myself. Whether I’m playing or not, I want the team to do well.
“I’m still getting my minutes. Everyone wants to start games, and it’s disappointing when you don’t.
“You have four international centre-backs at this club and there will always be two who are unhappy. I just have to be ready when the chance comes.”  More

Southampton hold positive talks with ex-Premier League boss about replacing Nathan Jones as next manager

SOUTHAMPTON have held talks with former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch over replacing Nathan Jones.Marsch, who was only sacked at Elland Road a week ago yesterday, is thought to have had positive discussions with the Saints hierarchy over taking the role.

The 49-year-old American kept Leeds in the Premier League last season but finds Southampton in a far more perilous position.
Jones was axed after just eight league games in charge, with one win and seven defeats, leaving the south coast side bottom and four points from safety.
When Marsch replaced Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds they were 16th and two points clear of the drop.
The former RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig coach was sacked with the side 17th in the Premier League after just two wins from their last 17 league games.

Marsch has had admirers on the south coast who feel he will fit better with the style implemented by former manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, who also worked in the Red Bull system in Germany.
Hasenhuttl’s Southampton were at their best when pressing high and playing at high tempo, which fits Marsch’s philosophy.
Saints coach Ruben Selles took training yesterday as he prepares the side to visit Chelsea on Saturday.
The Spaniard, who took interim charge of a Carabao Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday following Hasenhuttl’s sacking, is also a contender to get the job on a more permanent basis.

Selles was appointed in June and is well thought of amongst the squad, a number of whom had lost faith in Jones over the past fortnight.
His sacking was confirmed in a statement which read: “Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with Men’s First Team Manager Nathan Jones.
“First Team Coaches Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan have also left the club.”First Team Lead Coach Rubén Sellés will take charge of training and prepare the team ahead of next weekend’s game against Chelsea.”

I have more fun playing my new sport than I did battling it out in Champions League final for Chelsea

A CHELSEA legend insists his new sport at the age of 40 is “more fun” than winning the Champions League. It’s better skate than never for the all-time Premier League great, who has gone from goalkeeper to goaltender.

Petr Cech won the Prem and FA Cup four times apiece as well as the ultimate club prize via the famous 2012 final against Bayern Munich.
And after 11 years at Stamford Bridge, he added another FA Cup victory with Arsenal.
Cech then went back to Chelsea as technical director but departed in June 2022 following Todd Boehly’s takeover.
Now, like a footballer who claims he supported his new club as a kid, Cech has returned to his first sporting love – ice hockey.

The 124-cap former Czech Republic stopper got hooked again when he went to watch Guildford Phoenix in 2013.

He switched to Chelmsford Chieftains in the NIHL South Division One on a one-year deal last summer.
Comparing his sports past and present, Cech told the Daily Mail: “You’re still in that dressing room. You’re still having that banter. But it’s a completely different level of pressure.
