Most recently, Chelsea star Mason Mount have been linked with the club after a lack of progress on talks over a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
According to ESPN reporter James Olley, United have joined Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the bidding war for Mount’s signature.
Should Mount join, he could replace Marcel Sabitzer should his loan move at the club not be made permanent.
This would see him line up in a midfield made up of Frenkie de Jong, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, if he is able to displace Christian Eriksen from the team.

De Jong was a top target for United last summer, and it appears that the club will try to sign him again this year.
Tottenham record-breaker Harry Kane is another name that has been widely spoken about with a move to Old Trafford.
The England captain would be and upgrade and replace loanee Wout Weghorst should he join.
Kane would not have to take long to adapt as he is used to playing with Marcus Rashford while on international duty.

And Scholes likened him to former team-mate and captain Roy Keane before their Europa League trip to Barcelona.
He said on BT Sport: “People say he’s a defensive midfielder, but I don’t see that. He’s as close to Roy Keane as I’ve seen.”
But fans weren’t convinced, with many suggesting Keane is nowhere near the class of five-time Champions League winner Casemiro.
One said: “Casemiro is better than Roy Keane ever was.”

Another said: “Seriously though Roy Keane is absolutely nowhere near Casemiro as a player.”
One added: “Roy Keane doesn’t come close to Casemiro and Casemiro is a defensive midfielder.”

Qatari investors to battle Saudi Arabia for Man Utd takeover after ‘failing in bid to buy Liverpool’

QATARI investors have reportedly turned their attention to a full Manchester United takeover. That’s after failing with a bid to buy rivals Liverpool, says Qatar-based journalist Mohammed Al-Kaabi.

Both clubs are on the market as they look to compete with Manchester City and Chelsea’s millions in the summer transfer window.
And the Qataris had hoped to take full control from John W. Henry’s Fenway Sports Group at Anfield.
However, Liverpool’s American owners have reportedly refused to give up majority control in any sale.
This goes against the wishes of the Qataris, who apparently want much more than a minority stake in any club.

And it’s reckoned they are now focused on a complete takeover at Man United instead.
Meanwhile, CBS adds advanced talks were not held between the Qataris and Liverpool, with no concrete bid made either.
And any offer made for United is likely to come under the Glazers’ valuation.
Reports this week claimed a formal bid from Qatar was set to be received by tomorrow’s deadline.

The Glazers are hoping for a full sale of United for around £6billion.
But Uefa were today urged to block any offer from the Middle Eastern country due to concerns over Qatar’s ties to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, it’s reckoned European football’s governing body will not KO a bid from Qatar.
And the latest from the country suggests those behind a bid are now going all-out for United after giving up on Liverpool.
Investors from Qatar would join Arab compatriots like Saudi Arabia and the UAE in splashing the cash in the Premier League.
The Telegraph report that a Saudi Arabian bid is imminent.
But they will have to go some way to match the £600million spent by Chelsea’s American backers, with Todd Boehly prepared to find even more for a new striker this summer.
United fans were sent into meltdown after the fresh reports from Qatar.
One said: “COOK QATAR COOK. We want Mbappe next season.”
Another declared: “You rock my world.”

The Spaniard has also been subject to interest from Arsenal and it remains to be seen if he will come to the Premier League in the summer.
