The Spaniard said: “It’s really sad because he was a nice, nice, special person.
“He was a good professional. I don’t talk about if he’s a good player or not, he was a nice lad and a good player, but especially a really nice person.
“So a special person and everybody always, you can see the pictures, always with a smile playing or not playing.”
His former team-mate Allan Saint-Maximin added: “It’s a really sad day for Newcastle and the players.
“Most of the players know him well – he was a great guy and we had a nice time with him. It’s very painful. Some things are difficult for me – I will never forget him.

“It’s hard to explain – I will tell you the truth, when I arrived in Newcastle, he was always giving me advice, a very nice guy – he would always joke and smile every day.

Qatar STILL interested in Tottenham despite £5bn takeover bid for Man Utd – but investment depends on Joe Lewis and Levy

QATAR remain interested in buying a share in Tottenham Hotspur, despite Sheikh Jassim’s Manchester United bid.Qatari Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani launched a £5bn offer to buy the Red Devils from the Glazers on Friday.

Sheikh Jassim wants to buy Manchester United
The son of a former Qatari Prime Minister, Sheikh Jassim is eager to buy Man United outright.
But according to The Times, Sheikh Jassim’s pursuit does not change Qatar’s interest in buying into Spurs.
The Lilywhites have received interest from Paris Saint-Germain owners Qatar Sports Investments (QSI).
And the Qataris claim that QSI, the country’s sovereign wealth fund and Sheikh Jassim are very much separate.

This means that QSI could buy into Tottenham, even if Sheikh Jassim successfully beats off interest from the likes of Sir Jim Ratcliffe to buy United.
Should Spurs owner Joe Lewis or chairman Daniel Levy indicate a willingness to sell a minority share in the club, QSI, who are looking to begin a multi-club ownership expansion reminiscent of the City Group, could be at the front of the queue.
Although they are not the only ones showing interest in the North Londoners.
This week it was revealed that Iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi is readying a £3.1bn offer to buy Spurs.

Jahm Najafi is interested in buying Spurs
Najafi is the chair of MSP Sports Capital and is “working with a consortium of investors to structure the bid”.
Najafi’s offer will be structured so that 70 per cent of the purchase price will be put forward by MSP and the partners recruited.
The other 30 per cent will be made up by backers from the Middle East, which are allegedly mainly based in Abu Dhabi.
Spurs are attractive to investors due to their London location and the profitability of their £1bn state of the art stadium.
Tottenham are currently adamant that they are not actively for sale, although The Times add that Levy has not “quelled interest”.

Jorginho lifts lid on half-time team talk from Mikel Arteta that inspired Arsenal to stunning comeback win vs Villa

JORGINHO has lifted the lid on Mikel Arteta’s half-time team-talk that helped fuel Arsenal’s comeback against Aston Villa. The Gunners went in at the break down 2-1, after conceding brilliant goals by Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho either side of a Bukayo Saka strike.

Arteta’s men came out rejuvenated for the second period, and levelled through Oleksandr Zinchenko on the hour mark.
The game then had a frantic finish, with Villa striking the bar at one end, before Jorginho’s shot crashed off the bar and in off the back of Emi Martinez’s head.
Gabriel Martinelli then broke away to make it 4-2 in the dying embers, and Jorginho couldn’t help but credit his new manager after the game.
The Italian told BT Sport: “That’s the Premier League.

“That’s why it’s the best league in the world. It’s just beautiful.
“It’s a very important [win], after the last results we had and the start wasn’t easy. We were not producing our game.
“But we came in at half-time and had a talk, and then we went back to doing the basics that we needed to do, and we changed the game.”
Arteta, 40, also mentioned what was said at the interval.

He explained: “We showed a lot of character and resilience to get back twice in the game and end up winning it.
“We have to take some lessons from today because especially in the first-half we didn’t do the simple things right.
“But we talked at half-time, [saying] ‘If we raise individual standards and start to deliver what they have to do, we’re going to win this game’.
“In the second-half I think we outplayed them, we created chance after chance, we dominated absolutely the game.
“We needed a magic moment and Jorginho produced it.
“When you want to be at the top, you have to win in many different ways.”
The win saw Arsenal return to the top of the Premier League, with Manchester City subsequently drawing 1-1 at Nottingham Forest.

I’m an ex-footballer who also worked as body-double for Man Utd and England legend – can you guess who it was?

NON-LEAGUE journeyman Mat Mitchel-King combined battling in England’s lower-divisions with modelling for a Manchester United legend. The defender acted as a body-double for one star alongside playing on muddy pitches on the weekends for the likes of Histon and Hemel Hempstead.

Mitchel-King played as high as League 2 during his career but failed to replicate the success of the man he stood in for during photo shoots.
The glamorous body-double job also saw Mitchel-King appear in Nike adverts alongside football icons such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The role allowed him to meet his heroes, but at one stage he had to give up the life of stardom to play football.
Mitchel-King, now 39, performed the role of body double for none other than six-times Premier League winner Rio Ferdinand.

The non-league star was required to stand in for the former England captain during his long commercial commitments when the star could not spend several hours on set.
As a body-double, he filled in when long shots were required or directors needed someone of Ferdinand’s height and build present for framing.
Mitchel-King said he enjoyed the contrast it provided to life in non-league.
He previously told the BBC: “Modelling has allowed me to travel all over the world and meet some of my heroes at the same time.

“But I love my football too. I captained Histon to the third round of the FA Cup in 2008-09 when we beat Swindon and Leeds before losing to Swansea.”
He added: “People get confused and think you have to look exactly the same. You don’t.
“I did all the stuff from a distance and they filmed Rio for the close up stuff. If there is a six-day shoot lasting 12 hours a day, there’s no way a player can be there that long.
“I’ve met Rio. When I played for Crewe I lived in Cheshire and would see him out and about. He’d always acknowledge me.
“You have to be professional on set. You don’t ask them for autographs or selfies. It’s a strict no-no.”
Mitchel-King had to quit his modelling work for four years when he began playing in the EFL for Crewe and AFC Wimbledon between 2009 and 2013.
But he returned to the job when he was back in non-league with Dartford in 2013.
In contrast to Mitchel-King’s career, Ferdinand played most of his career at the top level.
After emerging at West Ham, he went on to win ten major trophies for United including the 2008 Champions League.

Spurs lining up transfer swoop for ex-Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori and could offer Emerson Royal to AC Milan in return

TOTTENHAM are reportedly eyeing a move for ex-Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori – and could offer Emerson Royal in return. The 25-year-old has seen his reputation grow hugely since leaving his boyhood club in 2021 to take a crack at Serie A.

He is now viewed as among the league’s best defenders and was a big part of the AC Milan side who won the title last season.
But a return to the Premier League could be on the cards with Chelsea’s rivals Spurs expressing interest in the centre-back.
That is according to Italian publication Calciomercato, who report that there is interest in bringing the ace to north London – and offering Emerson Royal in return.
Tomori has impressed Milan fans with his speed, positioning and defensive awareness, all qualities that it is hoped could boost the Spurs defence.

The club could be set to try and improve their entire backline with longstanding club servants like Eric Dier and Hugo Lloris coming in for criticism at times this season.
Royal has not evaded coming under fire from fans either as he becomes the latest player to try and fill Spurs’ problem position.
Antonio Conte has regularly switched his starting right wing-back this season with the Italian seemingly not convinced by either Royal nor Matt Doherty.
Pedro Porro was recruited in January to solve the issue, perhaps opening the door for Royal’s exit.

Both clubs will likely find transfer business easier to come by if they can offer players Champions League football.

I’m a former Premier League star who scored 185 goals across 18 clubs before quitting football and becoming a WRESTLER

A FORMER Premier League hitman has gone from scoring away at the Emirates, Stamford Bridge, Anfield and the Etihad to locking horns inside a professional wrestling ring. The 41-year-old scored 185 career goals in 562 appearances – with 24 strikes coming in the English top flight.

He most notably played for Norwich City, where he turned out 168 times for the Canaries, helping them win League One in 2010.
The ex-striker played for 18 clubs at senior level, spending the later years of his career playing in League One, the Scottish Championship and the National League.
He finally decided to hang up the boots in 2018 – but quickly traded them for wrestling attire.
In May 2018, the Englishman signed with WAW, a Norfolk-based wrestling promotion run by the legendary Knight family.
He made his in-ring debut at WAW’s Fightmare event.
WWE fans may be familiar with the promotion as the first-ever NXT Women’s champion, Paige, competed there.
The footballer-turned-wrestler is none other than Grant Holt.
Speaking to talkSPORT in 2021, Holt explained how he got into professional wrestling.

He said: “I got approached by WAW to do a charity event and they asked if I’d be interested in going in and doing it, have a bit of swansong at the end and join in.
“I basically said yes because that’s the kind of guy I am; if someone gives me a challenge I’ll just do it.
“And it was for charity so why not go and do it? That’s how it started.
“I had to pull out of the first one I agreed to do because it clashed with work and I was still playing at the time.
“So I said ‘look, I’m going to have to cancel’ which is not really like me.
“So I said I’ll tell you what I’m going to do: ‘next year I’m definitely retiring. If you put on another show, I’ll do it.’
“That was it. I retired a little bit earlier than I hoped and then I was it.”
Holt quickly fell in love with wrestling and says he’d “have been all over it” at a young age if he had people who could have taught him.

The ex-Canaries ace added: “It started off like, I’ll just do it.
“Then I thought if I’m going to a show, why don’t I do it properly?
“Why don’t I do it properly for the year and build up to the show.
“What I didn’t want to be is someone who stands on the apron, comes in, kicks someone and they say ‘oh yeah, that footballer.’ I didn’t want to be that.
“I wanted to do it properly, know the holds, the ins and outs. I wanted to give it the deserved effort.
“If I’d have known what I do now and people could have taught me how to wrestle when I was a kid, I would have been all over it. It just wasn’t there where I was.”
Holt also brushed shoulders with some of WWE’s biggest names – and even his childhood idols.
    MEETING LEGENDS
Holt recalled picking up WWE Hall of Famer, Billy Gunn, from the airport for the event.
Mick Foley, as well as Hardcore Holly, were other stars Holt got up close and personal with.
Holt recalled: “It was wild. I remember picking up Billy Gunn from the airport, one of my idols from when I was a kid, and he’s lying sleeping in my car with a WWE Hall of Fame ring.
“And what a great guy he was – absolutely massive too!
“You don’t realise. Mick Foley was another great guy.”
Holt’s journey into pro wrestling could’ve been different, though, starting off at the top.
The WAW hotshot has revealed that he was meant to go to WWE’s performance centre in London and Florida – but it didn’t end up materialising.
Holt said: “I was meant to go to the Performance Center in London and then the one in Orlando when I was in Tampa, but both times it didn’t end up happening.
“Just on a visiting type deal, but it still would have been cool.
“I’d love to do it. I enjoyed it, it’s a real good, fun thing for me and as I say, I never wanted to just go in there because of my name and where it’s from, I wanted to make sure that if I did it was because I’d done everything around the circuit.
“I don’t think it was right to just get bumped up and you should do things properly.”
    SPECIAL MOVE
Holt is sure to have enjoyed his debut Royal Rumble win in 2018.
He dropkicked a rival over the top rope to win a 40-man spectacular.
Holt took a boot to the face from one grappler, ducked a clothesline before sending one wrestler over the top rope.
The 6ft1in Carlisle-born sports star has a signature move named after his previous job.
His finisher is called the Soccer Kick.
Holt’s new-found love for wrestling hasn’t seen him leave football for good.
In fact, Holt works as a scout for Prem side West Ham.
Holt completed his coaching badges and talent iD course during his time recovering from a ACL injury at Wigan.
Speaking to Jimmy Bullar on a SkyBet show in 2021, Holt said: “I’ve just got a new job as a first-team scout at West Ham.
“A friend of mine gave me a phone call and said there were a few jobs going there.
“I’ve been doing it at Norwich for nearly two years now and I thought that it looked like a really good opportunity.

He has taken time to adjust to English football, netting just six goals in his first 17 Prem appearances.
Nunez, 23, put Liverpool in front with a clinical finish in their 2-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday.
And former boss Benitez has backed him to come good, likening him to one of his best ever Reds signings.
Appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports, the Spaniard said: “He is a hard worker – he’s always making the runs and doing the right things.

“After he finished and scored a great goal manager will be happy.”
Elaborating on Nunez’s qualities, Benitez added: “My feeling is you are watching the game – as a manager you are really worried.
“He has the pace to do that and run in behind. For you as a manger he is someone you have to worry about then he will finish.

“We worked with him and in time he became the Fernando we knew.”
Torres, 38, bagged four goals in his first 11 Prem appearances for Liverpool in 2007, before grabbing 20 in the next 22.
The Red’s win over Newcastle took them to within six points of the fourth placed Toon.
They also possess a game in hand on Eddie Howe’s side, who went down to ten men when Nick Pope was sent off – with Cody Gakpo having already doubled the Reds’ advantage after Nunez’s opener.
Nunez is a doubt for Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid after being forced off on 59 minutes with a shoulder injury.
After the match, boss Jurgen Klopp said: “If it shows up that Darwin has nothing on his shoulder, it would make my day.”
