However, he looks to have put pen to paper on a new long-term contract.
ESPN report that he has agreed a five-year deal at United.
Only minor details regarding the player’s image rights are left to agree before an announcement can be made.
Garnacho is set to receive a huge pay rise with reports claiming he could see his wage rocket from £7,000 to £50,000-a-week.

Manager Erik ten Hag supposedly has big hopes for him and believes the winger is the future of Man Utd’s attack.
Garnacho scored twice in the FA Youth Cup final last term as the Red Devils beat Nottingham Forest and he then made his senior debut in April 2022.
The Argentine has continued to impress, currently enjoying a breakout season at the club, netting three goals and registering five assists in all competitions.
Many of his appearances have come off the bench this campaign and he memorably grabbed the winner against Fulham prior to the World Cup.

He was also fantastic in the Manchester derby and helped his side secure a big win over Man City, setting up Bruno Fernandes’ equaliser.
Garnacho was on the books of Atletico Madrid until 2020 and he was born in the Spanish capital.
Given his roots, a switch back to Atleti or to Real Madrid was on the cards for him if he did not commit his future to Man Utd.
Garnacho looks like he could be the first of several first-team stars to agree to stay at Old Trafford.
Talks are well underway with main man Marcus Rashford, with his deal set to end in July 2024.
The club are also in discussions with Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and David de Gea.
The uncertainty over the club’s ownership situation with the Glazers looking to sell is not thought to have any impact on player’s signing extensions. More

Ben Thornley was giving his thoughts prior to the 3-0 win over Leicester yesterday when Neville intervened.
The former academy graduate was asked by host Stewart Gardner about Erik ten Hag’s decision to bench Raphael Varane for Victor Lindelof.
The Frenchman was seemingly given a rest with United’s Europa League clash versus Barcelona and Carabao Cup final with Newcastle looming.
Thornley was asked if it was the correct decision when he replied: “Forget the Barcelona game. Forget Sunday [versus Newcastle], this is equally as important because of the teams around us.”

Arsenal stars will hold showdown talks after Aston Villa win as Aaron Ramsdale fires warning to players

Goalkeeper Ramsdale conceded early on when Ollie Watkins broke the deadlock but Bukayo Saka levelled before Phillipe Coutinho restored the home side’s advantage before the break.
Arsenal bounced back after half time and levelled through Oleksandr Zinchenko but looked to be heading for a frustrating draw until two late strikes in additional time.
Jorginho’s long-ranger rebounded off the crossbar and hit Villa stopper Emi Martinez before going into the net for the third and then Gabriel Martinelli made it four on the counter-attack.
And that hard-fought victory lifted them back above Manchester City, who were held to a draw at Nottingham Forest, into top spot.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
However, England international Ramsdale, 24, says that Mikel Arteta’s squad will be having words with each other ahead of this weekend’s trip to Leicester City.
He said: “We are obviously delighted we’ve got the points and four goals, but lots of things to improve on.
“It was a classic for us for the wrong reasons. Take out the first 45 minutes where we didn’t perform to an Arsenal team or a team that is fighting for a league title.
“The second-half we can be so proud of. The way we played, the way we raised our levels, scored goals, competed.

“For an overall game it was a great game, but for us in the first 45 minutes we had lots to improve on.
“Of course, we are very happy to go back down the road with three points.”
Ramsdale added: “For me, it’s probably one of the worst ways we can win because we pride ourselves on defending, keeping clean sheets and that’s from the No9 to the No1, and the staff.
“Of course, it’s an amazing feeling now we are in the dressing room but there will be some truths spoke in the week about how we can improve and what we need to do better in the coming weeks.
“In different games, if we don’t show that level of performance in the second-half, a 2-0 or 2-1 head start for the opposition team could mean no way back. We don’t want to be giving teams head starts.” More

Liverpool vs Real Madrid: In-form Reds host Los Blancos in Champions League as Klopp plots revenge – Stream, TV

REVENGE is a dish best served on a cold Champions League night under the lights at Anfield… at least that’s what Jurgen Klopp is plotting as European champions Real Madrid come to town.Tuesday’s Last-16 first leg tie is a repeat of last May’s Champions League final.

And Liverpool will be hoping for some sort of redemption for the 1-0 loss they suffered inside the Stade de France by knocking out Real Madrid and ensuring a new King of Europe is crowned in three months time.
Klopp and Co will, of course, be hoping it turns out to be them.
Liverpool have seemingly found their feet again at the right time.
Klopp’s men turned their February around after recording just one Premier League win in five prior to last Monday’s 2-0 Merseyside derby win over Everton.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
They also put top-four rivals Newcastle to the sword on Saturday, beating the Toon convincingly in their own back yard with a 2-0 win.
Like Liverpool, Real are playing catch-up on their league objectives after a poor start to the campaign.
They’ve won seven of their last 13 games, dropping points in LaLiga and losing to Barcelona in the Super Cup in that time – but also lifting the Club World Cup.

They remain behind Barcelona by eight points in their bid to retain their LaLiga title.

And Liverpool will be encouraged by Real’s busy schedule in between their Champions League round of 16 clashes, with Carlo Ancelotti’s men playing rivals Atletico and Barca, as well as Real Betis and Espanyol before March 15’s Bernabeu dust-up.
    What is their form like?
Liverpool are on a two-game win streak after enduring a horrible start to 2022.
They recorded back-to-back 2-0 wins over rivals Everton and Newcastle.
However, in the nine games played since New Year, Liverpool have won just three with heavy defeats coming against Wolves, Brighton and Brentford.
Real, meanwhile, are on a four-game unbeaten run across all competitions.
They beat Osasuna 2-0 and Elche 4-0 in their last two LaLiga outings.
Ancelotti’s men also lifted the Club World Cup after wins over Al Ahly and Al-Hilal.

What is the team news and any injuries to worry about?
Liverpool are sweating over the fitness of summer signing Darwin Nunez after the striker went off with a shoulder injury in the win over Newcastle.
The 23-year-old scored in the game, taking his season total to 11 across all competitions.
Luis Diaz is expected to miss the Anfield clash having just returned from a long-term injury.
The Colombian winger could, however, play in the return leg next March.
Midfield maestro Thiago is also due to miss out with a hip injury, while Calvin Ramsey’s season struggles with injury continue.
As for Real, they’ve been dealt a double injury blow in midfield.
Both Aurelien Tchouameni and Toni Kroos are not part of the squad that will fly out to Merseyside on Monday.
Defender Ferland Mendy is also out having missed the last month with a thigh issue.
There is also a slight concern over Karim Benzema. The Ballon d’Or holder missed out at the weekend with muscle fatigue, however Carlo Ancelotti has said “hopefully he will” be available for Liverpool.

Toni Kroos will miss the gameCredit: Getty
Who will be the star men?
The obvious star man for Liverpool will be Mohamed Salah.
Salah hasn’t had the best of seasons – but neither have his team-mates.
Despite this, he’s still managed 18 goals across all competitions with seven of those coming in the Champions League, making him the competition’s top scorer so far.
He also has eight assists to his name and picked up a goal and an assist in his last two outings for Liverpool.
January signing Cody Gakpo has seemingly found his feet.
The Dutch international has two goals in his last two Prem appearances.
For Los Blancos, Benzema will be one Liverpool will be hoping to nullify.
The 35-year-old has struck 16 times this term – but none of them have come in Europe’s top club competition.
In fact, Benzema has just four appearances in the Champions League during what has been an injury plagued season.
Vinicius Jr is another Liverpool will be well aware of, with the Brazilian scoring the winner in last May’s final after Trent Alexander-Arnold switched off at the back post.
The trickster, 22, has 16 goals and eight assists this season.
Mohamed Salah has outscored Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema
    What have the managers said?
Klopp said after drawing Real last year: “The first thing that we can say about this draw is it is proper Champions League.
“This is a tie that speaks for itself and one that we should all be excited about.
“I know we have played Real Madrid in a couple of recent finals but it is not so often that our two clubs have met in a two-legged tie so now we can look forward to this happening.
“Real’s European record is the best around. We know this. But we also know that ours is not too bad. On top of this, we know that we have Anfield and everyone knows what this means.
“It is a really good draw. A really exciting draw.
“The games themselves are still a few months away but it does not take a great deal of imagination to think what the atmosphere will be like at both games.
“There is a lot of football to be played before this, of course, so we will focus on each game as it comes but yes, this draw has given us something special to look forward to.”
Ancelotti has said after beating Liverpool in last May’s final: “Looking back, people said oh PSG were unlucky, Chelsea were unlucky, Manchester City were unlucky, this was practically the only game where people thought we were more or less on the same level.
“I think it helped that Liverpool were easier to decipher than the others because they have a very clear identity and we could prepare the way that we did.
“We knew what strategy to take, don’t give them space behind the defence to run into.
“Perhaps our football wasn’t extraordinarily beautiful tonight on an aesthetic level, but playing out from the back to incentivise their pressing wasn’t a great idea.
“We had a few more long balls, then when their press in our half of the pitch lessened, we got to control the ball more especially in the second half.”

    SunSport prediction
There’s something about Champions League nights at Anfield.
It also happens to be against European Cup serial winners Real, so the Liverpool faithful will be up for it.
Should he be fit, Darwin Nunez could cause some chaos, unsettling Real’s backline.

Atsu’s lifeless body was recovered on Saturday from his collapsed apartment building in Antakya, in southern Turkey.
The tragic find – 12 days after the devastating 7.8-magnitude quake – came after confused earlier reports wrongly said he had been found alive amid the chaos.
Last night a plane carrying him home was received at Accra airport by Ghana’s Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia and a large military honour guard.
Soldiers carried his coffin – draped in the national flag – past a crowd of mourners on the tarmac.

Mr Bawumia said: “We hoped against hope, every day that passed, we prayed and prayed.
“But alas, when he was found, he was no more.”
He said the football ace was much loved and would be sorely missed, adding: “It is a painful loss, a very painful one.”
Atsu’s body was taken to a military hospital mortuary ahead of a funeral expected in the coming days.

The ex-Prem star played 65 times for Ghana’s national team and helped his side reach the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
He had been due to fly out of Turkey hours before the quake struck at 4am local time.
But he decided to stay with Hatayspor teammates after scoring the dramatic winner in a Super Lig match the day before on February 5.
The Turkish club initially said he had been rescued from his luxury apartment building.
But the team doctor then said he was still missing, and his agent and family members then spent more than a week in a desperate search.
Atsu’s older brother and twin sister were at the scene when his body was recovered on Saturday.
His agent Nana Sechere said: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all wellwishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning.
“My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support.”
Tributes poured in after the news of his death, with his club describing him as a “beautiful person”.
Hatayspor, who he joined in September, said: “We will never forget you, Atsu.
“Peace be upon you, beautiful person. There are no words to describe our sadness.”
Ghana captain Mohammed Kudus removed his shirt after scoring for Dutch side Ajax yesterday to reveal a white shirt with “RIP Atsu” written on it.
On Saturday Atsu’s wife Marie-Claire Rupio and their three children joined fans marking a minute’s silence in Newcastle before the side’s Premier League tie against Liverpool.
Atsu played for Newcastle from 2016 to 2021.
His face was shown on the big screen and away fans chanted “you’ll never walk alone”, before breaking into applause.
There was also a minute’s silence before kickoff at other Premier League grounds across the country.
Atsu began his Prem career with Chelsea, before moving to Newcastle United and Everton.
Terry, who captained the Cheslea at the time, tweeted a picture of Atsu alongside the message: “RIP my friend.”
Another Chelsea teammate Michael Essien said: “Rest well king.”
Cesc Fabregas and Michy Batshuayi also paid tribute.
And Dwight Gayle said: “It was a pleasure to share our time together and you was one of the nicest people I’ve met in football from opening schools back home to just having a constant smile day to day.
“The world needs more people like you and you will be truly missed. RIP brother.”
Former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given added: “Terrible sad news about Christian Atsu. Thoughts and prayers with his family and friends.”
Newcastle United said: “We are profoundly saddened to learn that Christian Atsu has tragically lost his life in Turkey’s devastating earthquakes.
“A talented player and a special person, he will always be fondly remembered by our players, staff and supporters.”
