Squad bonuses were often a point of contention under former owner Mike Ashley.
But according to the Mail, Newcastle stars are set to share £1million if they can taste Wembley glory.
It’s claimed that the cash will be distributed in accordance to matches and minutes played in the League Cup this term.
Loris Karius, expected to make his Toon debut in Sunday’s showpiece, would still take home a chunk, despite not having played in the early rounds.

Eddie Howe will also be due his own bonus if he can become the first manager to win Newcastle a domestic trophy in 68 years.
The EFL only grants prize money of £100,000 to the winners of their flagship competition.
    Runners-up, meanwhile, receive £50k.
Ahead of the final, Howe vowed that his side’s passionate fans can help his team get over the line.

He said: “From the people that I meet around the city and any interactions I have with supporters, whether that’s at six o’clock in the morning outside the training ground or when I’m leaving, the passion here and support for their team is truly incredible.
“I think the players know the responsibilities that they have to go into a game like this and try to be the best that we can.
“When you get to this stage, I think they know the pressures they will face so it’s a case from my position of trying to take them away and get to focus on the match itself.”
On Karius, he added: “We’ve all got stuff that’s happened in our careers and our histories that you learn from and I think he’s no different in that respect.
“Since day one since he came here, he started where he hadn’t had a lot of work before he joined us.
“He’s trained with our goalkeeping coaches in a really good way and I think his general performances in training have improved as he’s spent more time with us.”

What Alan Shearer’s wife told arch-nemesis Ruud Gullit in first meeting after blazing fall-out with Newcastle legend

RUUD GULLIT may have been the last manager to lead Newcastle United into a cup final — but the legendary Dutchman knows that is not how he is best remembered on Tyneside.Gullit’s year-long reign at St James’ Park was defined not by a Wembley defeat against Treble-winning Manchester United but by a spectacular bust-up with Alan Shearer.

When Gullit made the bombshell decision to drop his captain for a derby against Sunderland, and the Magpies lost to their bitter rivals, he resigned three days later.
It was one of football’s most infamous ego clashes — pitting Gullit, a former Ballon d’Or winner and European champion with club and country, against local hero Shearer, who would become Newcastle’s record goalscorer.
The feud continued for some time but when the pair began working together as TV pundits, they made up over several beers — to the shock of Shearer’s wife Lainya.
Gullit said: “The funny thing is that during the World Cup in Brazil in 2014, we were working together for ITV.

“We ended up at a party and we were just laughing together and drinking.
“Alan’s wife came over and said, ‘I cannot believe it… in our house, you were the No  1 guy we hated and now you two are laughing and joking with each other’.
“We’d met a lot of times in TV studios but that night we really got on so well.”
“Sometimes you cannot agree but you can still respect one another.”

“Of course I wish I’d had longer at Newcastle, I had a good time with the (late) chairman Freddy Shepherd and I’m still in contact with his family.”
Despite his explosive exit, just three months after the FA Cup Final defeat by Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, Gullit insists he has huge affection for Newcastle.
He will be rooting for them on Sunday when they face Manchester United again, in the Toon’s first Wembley showpiece in 24 years.
And while Newcastle’s Saudi moneymen may prefer Champions League qualification to the Carabao Cup, Gullit is adamant that winning a first piece of major silverware since 1969 should be the club’s absolute priority.
Gullit, a Laureus Academy member for the World Sports Awards, said: “They need a trophy so they can believe.“I’d want to win a cup more than finishing in the top four, silverware is something you can show.
Alan’s wife came over and said, ‘I cannot believe it… in our house, you were the No  1 guy we hated and now you two are laughing and joking with each other’Ruud Gullit on Alan Shearer
“You cannot show people something to say you have qualified for the Champions League. There is no medal, no trophy, no parade.
“I hope for the Newcastle fans, who are fantastic, that they win. They need a bit of success, it will make them so proud.
“It has been difficult for Newcastle, they didn’t do a lot for 20 years and were also relegated twice.
“It’s a pity because I enjoyed Newcastle, I loved the fans and the stadium.”
Gullit took over from Kenny Dalglish two games into the 1998-99 season and despite an indifferent league campaign, he led the Magpies through a tough Cup run which included wins over Blackburn, Everton and Tottenham.
But at Wembley, Manchester United completed the second leg of their historic Treble, defeating Gullit’s men 2-0 with goals from Teddy Sheringham and Paul Scholes.

Gullit, who had become the first foreign manager to win the FA Cup with Chelsea two years earlier, said: “I watched that final, maybe 10 years ago, on ESPN Classic.
“I hadn’t remembered much of the game — but when I saw it, we actually didn’t play badly at all. We played well.
“They just had more individual class, all of their strikers and midfielders could score goals.”
“I liked competing against Ferguson, I had a lot of respect for him but if you’ve played for Milan and won European Cups, you’re not afraid of anyone.”
“Unfortunately on that day, we couldn’t. I’m proud of reaching the FA Cup final but we just played the best club in Europe that day.”
The following season, things turned swiftly sour for Gullit.
He refused to give a squad number to Shearer’s great friend, England midfielder Rob Lee, and after the Toon took just one point from their first four Prem games, the crunch arrived.
Gullit dropped Shearer and strike partner Duncan Ferguson for a Tyne-Wear derby, preferring teenager Paul Robinson — a boyhood Sunderland fan — to start up front.
Newcastle led but were beaten 2-1, a Kevin Phillips winner arriving after Shearer and Ferguson arrived as subs.
The fallout was toxic and Gullit fell on his sword.
He had further brief spells as boss of Feyenoord, LA Galaxy and Russian club Terek Grozny but has not worked in management since 2011 – and insists he does not regret leaving the profession.
Gullit said: “I enjoyed management but it’s not an easy job.
“Look at all these guys who are still managing — they look grumpy, they look grey and old. it takes a year off your life every game you take charge of!”
Gullit is, though, impressed by the job Eddie Howe has done at Newcastle.
Since the Saudi takeover, Newcastle have spent a quarter of a billion pounds on new players — still not as much as Gullit’s other former Prem club, Chelsea.
He said: “Newcastle haven’t spent as much as people would think – especially when you see what Chelsea have done.
“I give a lot of credit to Howe. He’s a very good coach.”
Gullit is glad to see a fellow Dutchman, Sven Botman, thriving at the heart of Howe’s miserly defence.

He said: “I’ve spoken with Botman, he’s a nice kid, and he’s doing well there.”

Liverpool outcast Oxlade-Chamberlain thrown shock transfer lifeline and could play Champions League football next season

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN has reportedly been thrown a transfer lifeline by a Champions League-chasing club with the Liverpool ace set to end his disastrous spell at Anfield. The 29-year-old joined Liverpool from Arsenal in a £33.4million 2017 transfer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has won some of the world’s best trophies, including a Premier League and Champions League title while playing for the Reds.
However, on an individual level, the ex-England international has struggled for consistency, mainly due to injury.
The winger-turned-midfielder has missed an astonishing 88 games through injury while on the books at Liverpool.
And this summer, his stay on Merseyside is set to come to an end when his contract expires.

But he could get a quicker escape before the end of the season, with Fenerbahce keen on him, according to Aspor.
The Turkish winter transfer deadline was extended to March 5.
And Fenerbache could play a small fee to free Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool should they make a move.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has played just 11 times this season, starting five of those games.

The Turkish giants are currently sat second in the Super Lig, behind rivals Galatasaray by nine points.
They could slash Galatasaray’s nine-point lead down to six as they have a game in hand.
Fenerbahce are on course to qualify for Europe’s top club competition via the league, with the top two teams in the Turkish league earning a spot.
They could also earn a spot by winning the Europa League.
Fenerbahce topped Group B and will contest the round of 16 next month. More

I almost quit football to help my father sell fish at the market and now I am linked with a £90m transfer to Chelsea

THIS footballer almost quit the beautiful game to help his father sell fish at their local market. But it’s a good thing he didn’t give up on his dreams.
This Chelsea-linked star almost quit the game to sell fish with his dadCredit: Instagram @rbleipzig
That’s because he’s now being tipped for a stunning £90million move to Chelsea.
The Blues have been splashing the cash left, right and centre under Todd Boehly.
The American has handed out more than £600m on stars including Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez.
And there could yet be more incomings this summer.

One area which has been a cause for concern is defence.
But Chelsea could be presented with a saviour in the shape of RB Leipzig and Croatia star Josko Gvardiol.

The versatile centre-back, who can also play on the left, is one of world football’s top prospects.
Gvardiol, 21, has already clocked up 74 appearances for RB Leipzig and scored his fourth goal in last night’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Manchester City.

The ace put in several admirable performances at the World Cup too, leading his country to a third-place finish.
And Gvardiol is now being strongly linked with a £90m switch to Stamford Bridge.
But things could have turned out differently had he decided to follow through on initial plans to quit football.
Gvardiol admits he was looking to pack things in four or five years ago after warming the bench for Dinamo Zagreb’s youth side.
The defender endured a tough upbringing in the Croatian capital, waking up daily at 4am to help his dad sell fish at the market.
And Gvardiol almost stepped away from football to partake in the family trade full-time.
I was frustrated and, at one moment, I was thinking to leave footballJosko Gvardiol
But after soon getting his break in the team, the star’s stunning progress saw him blitz into Zagreb’s senior squad.
Gvardiol told the Times: “I was 16 or 17 and still on the bench in the youth teams. I was frustrated and, at one moment, I was thinking to leave football.
“[Selling fish?] By the way, I hate fish. Imagine being 16 years old and there’s only fish to eat every day at home. I want to try something else.
“I don’t know what happened but then afterwards I started to play and they finally saw something in me, my quality, and in one year I moved to Dinamo Zagreb’s second team.
“In six months I was in the first team with [now-RB Leipzig team-mate] Dani Olmo.”
Gvardiol also revealed he could have joined Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds before opting for Leipzig instead.

He said: “I had two options, Leeds and Leipzig. Bielsa was the coach and my goal in my career is to play in the Premier League.
“[But] I knew I needed to take a few steps more before I get there one day.”
Gvardiol almost saw his dream come true last summer when Chelsea made a late move.
But Leipzig rejected the bid after telling Gvardiol he was too important to sell.
The ace added: “My agent called me and saw that Chelsea is extremely interested. Of course you definitely think about a serious offer from a huge club like Chelsea.
“Leipzig said they didn’t want to sell me, in the end I really struggled with that decision but we didn’t make an agreement.

Micah Richards reveals incredible hidden talent live on TV leaving pundits in stitches – but is all as it seems?

MICAH RICHARDS translated Romelu Lukaku’s post-match interview from Italian into English live on TV as the pundit revealed a hidden talent.Lukaku, 29, hasn’t had the best of times at the San Siro since returning on loan following a disastrous second spell at Chelsea.

Richards left fellow pundits in stitches – but fans say the ex-defender got the gist of what Lukaku was sayingCredit: CBS
The striker has just four goals across all competitions this season but netted in the 86th minute against 10-man Porto as Inter Milan won the first-leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie 1-0.
After the game, Lukaku gave a post-match interview to speak about his winning moment and CBS footie presenter, Kate Abdo, put pundit Richards on the spot by asking him to live translate it – despite it being in Italian.
Richards is familiar with the Italian language from his time at Fiorentina between 2014-15.
And although not perfect, Richards got the general gist of Lukaku’s interview: Inter played great and got an important win.

Mid-translation, fellow pundit Thierry Henry – who played for Juventus in 1999 – came across and tried to look at Richards’ notes.
Richards’ attempt at translating left Henry, Jamie Carragher and Abdo in stitches, with the latter saying the ex-defender should get a primetime slot on CBS’ Serie A show.
As Abdo ended the show, Richards signed off saying: “A dopo, ciao (see you).”
On the hilarious moment, one fan said on Twitter: “Why can’t UK punditry be like this?”

Another tweeted: “LMAOOOOOOOO I’m in tears.”
A third added: “He translated half of the words in Lukaku’s speech, but he understood the substance of it.
“Not bad, considering the noise and confusion around him.”
Richards’ attempt was unable to top Abdo’s multilingual brilliance.
The CBS host translated French, Spanish and German back-to-back last November following Champions League fixtures.
Abdo translated while listening to PSG’s Kylian Mbappe, Federico Valverde of Real Madrid and RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose.
On the same show which saw Richards showcase his Italian, Henry almost walked out of the CBS studio after being asked whether he would have played for Tottenham. More

John Motson had the voice of a man who adored football and he felt privileged it filled up the nation’s living rooms

IT always felt slightly surreal whenever you gave John Motson a ring.Because the voice on the end of the telephone was such a significant voice from your youth.

And while other football commentators have a ‘commentary voice’ – and some even seem to subconsciously ape Motty’s famous tones – the man himself commentated with his authentic, actual voice.
It was a voice of authority and knowledge but, above all, it was the voice of a man who adored football.
A man whose 50 years of service to the BBC were an unbridled joy and never a chore.
The last time I phoned Motson, who has died aged 77, was to speak to him about the passing of legendary FA Cup giant-killer Ronnie Radford, whose goal helped Southern League Hereford United knock out top-flight Newcastle in 1972.
    READ MORE ON JOHN MOTSON
That goal was the making of the young Motty, as he readily admitted. That third-round replay on an Edgar Street mudheap turned out to be his breakthrough commentary on Match of the Day.
He would go on to take the microphone on over 2,000 matches for BBC TV and radio – including ten World Cups and 20 FA Cup Finals – without ever losing his boyish enthusiasm for the game.
Motson fell in love with football when his father – a Methodist church minister – took him to Stamford Bridge on Christmas Day 1957 to watch a teenage Jimmy Greaves score four goals in a 7-4 victory for Chelsea over Portsmouth.
A true journalist and avid newspaper reader, Motson began his career on the Barnet Press and then the Sheffield Morning Telegraph before he joined the broadcast media.
    Most read in Football
And in the days when live televised football was strictly rationed in the 1970s and 80s, Motson – along with his ITV friend and rival Brian Moore – was the dominant voice of the national sport.
Motson’s was a friendly, excitable voice. And one which was ahead of its time in rattling out stats.
Although he once told me: “When I started stats were quite rare and people used to criticise me for using too many – now the stats men have taken over.
“Ironically I use fewer stats now than I ever have because there are so many of them. I struggle with it. Expected goals? I had to have that explained to me. And all these diagrams? Heat maps? What do they mean?”
One of Motson’s best-known lines came at the final whistle of Wimbledon’s shock 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup Final – ‘the Crazy Gang have beaten the Culture Club’.
But nothing ever quite surpassed his first major outing, that Radford piledriver and a winner from Ricky George.
Motson would become firm friends with all out that Hereford side and was invited to their regular reunions.
He sounded alert and well when we spoke about Radford back in November, not long before the World Cup in Qatar.
You can watch footage of Radford’s famous goal and Motson’s commentary on YouTube.
He captures the thrill of an historic footballing moment perfectly.
“Tremendous spirit in this Hereford side … they’re not giving this up by any means … Radford … now Tudor’s gone down for Newcastle … Radford again, oh what a .. GOAL! WHAT a goal. Radford the scorer. Ronnie Radford.
“And the crowd .. the crowd are invading the pitch and now we’ll take some time to clear the field.
“What a tremendous shot by Radford. He got that ball back and hit it from well outside the penalty area and no goalkeeper in the world would have stopped that..”
Decades later, Motson always sounded like a fan – a fan armed with forensic knowledge of the game – but still the same football lover who had watched the great Greaves at the Bridge that long-ago Christmas.
Five years ago, during Motson’s final season as a TV commentator, we met at his Hertfordshire home and for lunch at his local pub, posing in his trademark sheepskin coats – always handmade by nearby Hide’s Couture.
He had finished live commentaries in 2008 but continued to work for Match of the Day – and he took great pride from the fact that the BBC highlights show had kept them same format, and huge popularity, despite the vast changes in football and the media since the Premier League launch in 1992.
Motson, who is survived by his wife Anne and son Frederick, admitted he led a ‘blessed’ life, following football for a living for half a century.
    Read More on The Sun
And he felt privileged that his instantly-recognisable voice filled up the nation’s living rooms, as if he were a family friend.
It is deeply sad that the voice of football has fallen silent now. But Motson’s was a life well lived.
