Newcastle fans furious with Nile Ranger over Instagram posts just days before Carabao Cup final against Man Utd

NEWCASTLE fans have been left furious with ex-striker Nile Ranger after he advertised inflated Carabao Cup final tickets ahead of Sunday’s clash at Wembley with Manchester United. The Toon are contesting their first League Cup final since 1976 on Sunday.

Tens of thousands of Geordies will descend on London hoping to roar their team to victory.
Some fans were more lucky than others with securing match tickets.
However, Newcastle fans have been left furious after one of their former strikers, Ranger, advertised 100 match tickets with the cost of sitting in the Toon end costing an astonishing £2,150.
The footie bad boy played for Newcastle between 2009 and 2013.

On Ranger’s official Instagram, he wrote: “Tickets available. Carabao Cup. SERIOUS ONLY!!
“Man Utd end £1150. Newcastle end £2150. Market Prices. 100 tickets left.”
Ranger further explained on Twitter: “Tickets are available through a trusted marketplace, which guarantees all tickets.
“Prices are above face value, and the company is not affiliated with the football clubs or Wembley directly.

“Customers will be paying the company direct.
“You are worried about reselling tickets. Go help victims of Syria and Turkey. HOW ABOUT THAT.”
One fan said on Ranger’s antics: “If you’re paying £2.5k to Nile Ranger for a ticket to the final then you should maybe re-evaluate your decision making processes.
“I literally can’t think of anyone I’d trust less hahahahaha.”
Another tweeted: “Nile Ranger try not to be a scumbag challenge (level impossible).”
Others have taken shots at Rangers’ questionable, and at times, criminal past.
In 2007, Ranger was sentenced to 11 weeks custody as a 15-YEAR-OLD for his part in a street robbery.
In 2011, the striker was apologised for causing outrage after being seen posing with a replica gun.
A year later, he was fine £6,000 by the FA for homophobic comments made on Twitter.
In 2014 Ranger was forced to pay costs and fined for criminal damage after kicking in his own front door.
Three years later he was suspended by club Southend for football related reasons.

And in 2017 Ranger pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
However, his jail stint lasted just ten weeks due to “his consistently excellent custodial behaviour”, remaining under curfew for the next five weeks. More

Bruno Fernandes hails Ten Hag for ‘pulling apart’ three Man Utd stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and laying down law

BRUNO FERNANDES has heap praise on manager Erik ten Hag for laying down the law at the club. The Dutch manager has demanded good behaviour from the players and the result has seen United challenge towards the top of the table.

Fernandes has revealed that the players were unsure how Ten Hag would be with the players when he was first appointed as boss last summer.
The Portuguese midfielder also admitted that the manager would not be afraid to “pull apart” big players in the squad such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.
He told Rio Ferdinand on his podcast Between The Lines: “He first arrived and we went on tour and the training sessions we had, he demands: ‘you do it or you’re out. You don’t play.’
“Everyone was a little bit like in the beginning: ‘will he do that or not? If a big player doesn’t do what he wants will he pull him apart or not?’

“And he did that many times, he did it with Cristiano, with Jadon, with Marcus.”
His methods have already been tested as he had to deal with Ronaldo’s antics in the first part of the season.
After the attacker refused to come on as a substitute against Tottenham and did an interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticised United.
This led to ten Hag and the club exiling him from the team and eventually letting him leave the club.

The result of this has seen the United side perform better on the pitch without distraction.
Ten Hag has also put a lot of work into helping Sancho get back to his best by sending him on a training course in Holland separate from the team.
This is paying dividends as the winger is now back in the squad and performing well for the team.
But Fernandes was most impressed with how ten Hag dealt with inform star Rashford after he overslept and missed a team meeting ahead of the New Year’s Eve clash with Wolves.
Despite being a regular goalscorer, ten Hag dropped him from the starting line-up, and it proved to motivate Rashford even more as he came on as a sub and scored a vital goal.
Fernandes believes that it would have been easy for ten Hag to forgive the error and insisted that Rashford accepted the decision.
He said: “Marcus was probably in the best form against Wolves, he did something wrong and the manager pulled him out.
“In the first moment, we thought ‘he’s our main man, we need him’ but in the second I was sitting with David [De Gea] and I said ‘it has to be like this’ because if not that the younger ones will think ‘if he does nothing to them he’ll do nothing to me too’.
“He demanded from Rashy you have to be consistent in everything, not only in your games, in your goals, and your performance but off the pitch also.
“Marcus in the beginning he was hungry because he wanted to play but he didn’t do anything wrong, he accepted, came on, scored, we win and at the end him and the coach are laughing.
“Sometimes you have to make some rules in your house.
“Otherwise, they will go over you and they will be the owners of the house.”
The approach from the former Ajax boss is working with the players as they are still competing on four fronts this season.

I was appalled when I took over at Chelsea, it was worse than Swindon.. I had to sort huge transfer with dodgy pay-phone

CHELSEA are the world’s costliest football franchise, bought for £4.25billion and have splurged a world-record £600million on new players this season alone.Yet, in the 80s, the Blues were bust and unable to pay players wages until bought for £1 by Ken Bates, who was rescued by Roman Abramovich in 2003, with a £140m sale.

In a BT Sport documentary and new book, Glenn Hoddle, manager from 1993-96, recalls how he was given a 50p piece and told to use the payphone hanging at the training ground to sell one of the club’s top players.
In an exclusive interview for the documentary and book, Hoddle recalls the appalling facilities he encountered at the Bridge.
Hoddle thought he had made the ‘big time’ — but found the Chelsea infrastructure inferior to Swindon, who he had just got promoted!
He explained: “I was confident in my ability as a manager: I can only improve them.

“On the surface, it was looking as if it was going to be a step up. But the training ground was a disgrace. Swindon’s was better.
“Just incredible when I think back. Didn’t have an office. No gym. Didn’t even have a bath. The dressing rooms were so tight, no wonder they said, ‘We get a lot of flu during the winter’. It was an absolute disaster.
“I remember saying to the guys, ‘Tomorrow afternoon we’re going to do some good running’. One of the young coaches put his hands up and said, ‘Gaffer, we can’t train on a Wednesday, there’s hockey and cricket’.”
That was a reference to the Harlington training ground owned by Imperial College, who had first call on its facilities.

It got worse. Hoddle continued: “I was trying to do a deal with Ron Atkinson over a player. And I’m talking on this phone with the bottom taken out.
“I had to put 50p in but it kept dropping. Ron asked, ‘What’s that beeping in the background?’ It was the pips! That was Chelsea FC. It was quite incredible.
“After their training, they’d probably go to McDonald’s on the way home. That was the philosophy.”
Hoddle brought from Monaco, where he played under Arsene Wenger, a whole new way — nutrition, training, tactical reforms.
Michael Duberry witnessed the big changes: “We’d just signed John Spencer from Rangers. We sat down at this American diner: Do I get the burger or the doner kebab? Can I have the doner kebab, chips and a can of coke? Spencer is looking [bemused]: ‘Are you lot for real?’ ‘Don’t knock it, Spenny, this is the highlight of our day.’ ”

He was given plenty of backing by Matthew Harding and Ken Bates

Hoddle said: “What I had at Swindon was technically far better than the squad I’d take over. Tactically, I wanted to play three at the back and do what I did at Swindon — but the centre-backs weren’t as comfortable.
“I was never going to change my principles. I’d spent too much time with a bad neck as a midfield player and with England, watching the ball go over my head. So I wasn’t going to play survival football. There was a pride in how we played.”
It was not easy to bring fans and players with him at first, especially with the club near the bottom of the table. Hoddle got a call from Bates on holiday, cruising in the Caribbean, to receive unconditional backing.
Hoddle said: “We were trying our best but it wasn’t easy. I knew where I wanted to take it but it was going to take time.
“We came out of The Dell and we were second from bottom and I’m getting pelters from the Chelsea fans. They were really giving me a hard time.
“Ken Bates always went away for Christmas/New Year on a cruise. He put a phone call through to us and said, ‘Don’t worry — you’re our man. We’re backing you. Stay cool’.
“Sometimes when you get that sort of phone call, you think, ‘Oh dear’, dread’s coming round the corner. I needed to hear that.’ ”

Hoddle’s brand of football attracted some of the world’s best stars, including one-time World Footballer of the Year Ruud Gullit.
But to persuade the super Dutchman to bring his brand of ‘sexy football’ to the Bridge, he had to keep him away from the ramshackle training ground and a down-market building site for a stadium!
Hoddle said: “I know he had a bit of a dodgy knee and it would take some doing to get him to come over.
“We had a good chat but he wanted to see the training ground, so I steered him well away from there.
“I said there was building going on and he’d have to put one of those hard hats on.
“He asked to go to the stadium and I said, ‘We’re having a new stadium, first stands are going up, so you’d have to put a hard hat on’.

He has already racked up 44 appearances for Spurs, contributing six goals and six assists.
And his absence could prove decisive in Tottenham’s pursuit of the top four this season.
They occupy fourth place heading into this weekend’s fixtures, but only hold a one-point lead over Newcastle in fifth.
They are also still in the Champions League as they prepare to try and overturn a 1-0 deficit against AC Milan.

Last week, with Yves Bissouma also out injured and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg suspended, Conte was forced to field Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr in Milan.
But the pair did impress in defeat as Conte looks to welcome Hojbjerg back into the fold for the return leg.
Tottenham face a packed schedule over the next few weeks with six games in 20 days.
The Premier League clash at home to Chelsea will be followed up 72 hours later by a trip to Sheffield United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
They then head to Wolves in the league, before the second leg of their European tie against Milan.
Another three-day turnover then sees them host Nottingham Forest, with a trip to Southampton their final game prior to the international break. More

After keeping a watchful eye over Wednesday’s fixtures, which saw RB Leipzig play Manchester City and Inter Milan take on Porto, Henry and Co got onto the topic of on-pitch trash-talking.
The threesome all named their pick, but were unable to agree on who was the worst of the bunch.
Ex-Man City ace Richards called out USA and Fulham great Clint Dempsey, while Carragher opted for Prem journeyman Craig Bellamy.
Henry, however, said Robbie Savage was the biggest trash talker he came across in his career.

Savage had a reputation for clashing with other players, managers and referees.
And Henry went in two-footed on Savage, saying the former Blackburn and Derby ace couldn’t back up his chat.
Henry said: “I would say he shouldn’t have done it but it was Robbie Savage.
“You were just like ‘please carry on talking’ because we were going to you know (win).

“I like it, wind me up, but you won’t be able to match it after so stop talking.
“When you talk like that normally, no disrespect to Robbie, but when you talk like that you have to back it up.”
Pundit Richards pushed Henry further, asking: “So you are saying he couldn’t back it up?”
Henry doubled down: “Every time we played. Not often.”
Savage played against Henry 13 times in the Prem, and failed to score or assist.
He was on the losing team ten times, while drawing two and winning just once.
He also picked up three yellow cards for his troubles.
Arsenal icon Henry, meanwhile, won ten of the 13 meetings and scored a whopping 11 goals and picked up six assists.
