Chelsea managed to hit yet another low as goals from Oliver Skipp and Harry Kane condemned them to three straight defeats in all competitions
Hakim Ziyech’s overturned red card caused plenty of controversy in a heated game.
But it was Skipp’s opener in the 46th minute which initially set tongues wagging.
That’s because British transfer record signing Fernandez committed an unholy howler to gift the midfielder his first-ever Spurs goal.

Straight from second-half kick-off, Emerson Royal tested Kepa Arrizabalaga with a shot.
But the Spaniard was unable to throw himself on the ball due to Fernandez being in the way.
The Argentina World Cup winner then feebly kicked the ball straight back into a line of Spurs players.
And Skipp pulled the trigger to lash home for his first goal in five years as a senior star.

Fans certainly couldn’t believe their eyes, with many questioning what was going through Fernandez’s head at the time.
One said: “What is Enzo doing?”
Another declared: “What an assist by Enzo Fernandez! That’s his second since joining Chelsea, the man is on fire.”
One noted: “Defensively Enzo Fernandez is a massive downgrade on Jorginho and I know the truth hurts. His workrate is so lacklustre.”
Another added: “The worst decision Enzo Fernandez could’ve possibly made is joining Chelsea. Now he’s stuck there on a 8.5 year contract.”

‘I was getting bored’ – Marcus Rashford reveals he started his career in a very surprising position and why he switched

MARCUS RASHFORD has revealed the shocking position he started his career in, and why he now plays where he does. The 25-year-old forward has scored 24 goals this season and will be hoping to reach Erik ten Hag’s 35-goal season target for him.

But he revealed how he started off in a very different positionCredit: YouTube / Sky Sports Football
But if he had a bit more patience, Rashford’s career may have taken a very different trajectory.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rashford revealed: “Some people don’t know this, but my first year at Fletcher Moss (an amateur team United frequently recruit from) I played in net.
“The year that I got scouted for United I played outfield because my team was always winning and I was bored. I had phases as a kid where I would play in net.”
Had Rashford stayed in goal and completed his goalkeeping development, he would be competing with David De Gea for the gloves at Old Trafford.

And Rashford also revealed his playstyle as a keeper, adding he would be more than happy to don the gloves if needed in an emergency.
“I’m a good shot-stopper. Not too good at the other stuff (playing out), but if someone wants to take shots at me I can save a few.
“I’m more old-fashioned. I take no risks at the back – just get it away from the goal.”
Asked if De Gea knew about Rashford’s former position, he said: “Yeah he does a little bit.

“We’ve had a couple of conversations just in the team (for) if the keeper’s injured who’s going to go into net.

“I was like ‘no way, I trust myself more than I trust you to go in net’.”
In his interview, Rashford also recalled how he had been fined every Thursday while under Louis van Gaal.
But today Rashford will be in action in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle, whose supporters have travelled to London in force. More

Chelsea Player Ratings: Mount makes you wonder why he didn’t start but Ziyech is anonymous before red card let-off

IT was another bad day at the office for Graham Potter as his Chelsea side suffered a humiliating 2-0 defeat to London rivals Tottenham on Sunday. The Blues boss approached the game full of optimism, but his hopes were quickly dashed after Hakim Ziyech was shown a red card at the end of the first half.
Chelsea are now winless in six gamesCredit: Getty
Luckily for him, it was rescinded just a few minutes later.
But in the grand scheme of things, that didn’t really matter.
Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp opened the scoring with a fantastic strike just after the break.
And just as Potter looked to make some changes to his attack, Harry Kane sealed all three points with a close-range effort.
    Read More on Football
The Blues have not won a single game since their record-breaking transfer window slammed shut.
And the pressure could now well and truly be on Potter.
On another dismal day for the Blues, SunSport’s Jordan Davies rates the performance.
    KEPA – 6/10
Very little to do in the first half, and did well to deny Emerson Royal at the start of the second before getting a hand to Oliver Skipps’s shot from range. Perhaps should have done better with it, but no chance with the second.
    Most read in Football
    REECE JAMES – 6/10
A surprisingly quiet display from full-back. You expect him to be gunning it down the right flank at every opportunity but that just wasn’t the case. In his defence, Tottenham’s low block did not help, but he found it hard to influence like he normally does.
    THIAGO SILVA – 7/10
Silva was forced off with a knee injuryCredit: Getty
Looked to have swung his elbow at Cristian Romero which VAR deemed okay, but was at his disruptive and composed best before a tangle with Harry Kane forced him off in the 18th minute with a knee injury.
    KALIDOU KOULIBALY – 7/10
Rarely troubled in the first half and couldn’t quite jump high enough to block Skipp’s strike. Did not deserve to be on the losing side as he remained reliable and solid throughout.
    BEN CHILWELL – 6/10
Drove Emerson Royal back on several occasions while keeping Dejan Kulusevski relatively quiet, but was gradually dropping deeper to stop the counter of the latter in the second half. Switched off at a late corner to keep Harry Kane onside for the clincher.
    RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK – 5/10
Worked hard and made some important blocks but very little in the form of deft touches on the ball and did not do enough to set the front three away when they had space in behind. Watching his opposite number Skipp score a worldie highlighted this even further.
    ENZO FERNANDEZ – 6/10
Great ball over the top for Felix in the opening stages, but largely at fault for Spurs’ opener after his poor clearance put Joao Felix under pressure as Skipp fired past Kepa. Kept things ticking over, but no end product.
    HAKIM ZIYECH – 5/10
A largely anonymous first half ending in a needless hand to the face of Emerson Royal that initially saw him sent off thanks to VAR before a VAR U-turn and a yellow instead. Was subbed off on the hour mark before he could do any more damage to his own team.
    JOAO FELIX – 7/10
Felix was one of Chelsea’s better playersCredit: Getty
Chelsea’s liveliest forward in the opening stages with a thunderous shot straight at Fraser Forster, keeping Spurs’ back three on their toes with his movement. Ultimately, should have been stronger after the break as Skipp nicked it off him and scored.
    RAHEEM STERLING – 6/10
Tried to win a penalty off of Oliver Skipp in the opening minute with a blatant dive, but improved and tested Forster with a curling effort from long range. Looked frustrated at times and did not know whether to stay wide or cut inside in search of the ball.
    KAI HAVERTZ – 6/10
Pressed well and tried to bring others into the game yet he will be judged on chances and it is difficult to recall him having a real decent one. Was put through by a neat Mason Mount flick in the second half only to be smothered by Forster.
    SUBS:
    WESLEY FOFANA (SILVA, 18) – 6/10
Almost diverted Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s scuffed shot onto the post just before the half hour mark, but got up to speed soon after and played an important role as Spurs began to rely on their counter even more so after their opener.
    MASON MOUNT (ZIYECH, 61) – 7/10
An instant breath of fresh air in attack, bringing energy and moments of quality, one of which almost brought an equaliser for Havertz. The real question is: why didn’t he start?
    Read More on The Sun
    DENIS ZAKARIA (LOFTUS-CHEEK, 61) – 6/10
Attempted to follow in Mount’s footsteps with more positive play and darting runs, while also providing protection from the counter.

Tottenham 2 Chelsea 0: Pressure on Potter reaches boiling point as Skipp and Kane fire Spurs to fiesty derby win

ANTONIO CONTE can count himself lucky to have missed his first win over Chelsea since getting sacked by them five years ago.A dodgy gallbladder would have been the least of the combustible Italians problems compared to his heart-rate and blood pressure as Tottenham secured a fractious victory over their fierce London rivals.

Midfielder Oliver Skipp set Spurs on their way with his first goal for the club in the 47th minute and Harry Kane sealed it with eight to go.
Three points cements their top four place in the push for Champions League qualification.
Tottenham boss Conte is at home resting up after surgery and assistant Cristian Stellini took his place in the dugout and retained his 100 percent record while stepping in.
This is Tottenham’s first win over Chelsea since November 2018 – Conte had only been sacked by The Blues four months earlier to underline how far back the miserable run goes.

Spurs are now four points ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle and ended a run of two tough London derbies in a week with maximum points having beaten West Ham by the same score previously.
In a bizarre match the performance of ref Stuart Attwell was among the main talking points.
The official showed Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech a red card at the end of the first half for appearing to shove Emerson Royal in the face, only to downgrade it to a yellow after consulting the pitchside monitor.
Attwell was also forced to come off briefly in the second half to change his shirt as he threatened to steal the show from a game which only really kicked into life in the second half.

British-record signing Enzo Fernandez tried to clear the danger in front of his goal but only succeeded in pumping the ball straight to Skipp and the Tottenham academy graduate smashed home a shot from the edge of the area.
And in the 82nd minute Tottenham sealed a memorable win from a set-piece.
Eric Dier flicked on a corner from Heung-Min Son and Kane was waiting at the back post to hook the ball home from six yards out.
Chelsea boss Graham Potter is now under serious pressure after yet another disappointing showing from his expensive team.
He made six changes from the side which lost at home to bottom club Southampton last weekend but got the same result – lack of energy and cohesion and a thoroughly deserved defeat.
Chelsea have now lost three games on the spin and won only one Premier League game this calendar year despite a massive investment in eight new players during last month’s transfer window.
They barely threatened Fraser Forster in the Tottenham goal and lost captain and highly experienced defender Thiago Silva to injury after only 17 minutes.
Potter’s team is now 14 points off the top four and they have scored only one goal in the last six games.

Van Gaal fined me every Thursday for being late to Man Utd… I had 12 minutes to get from college to training

MARCUS RASHFORD has revealed how Louis van Gaal’s “non-negotiable” demands saw him fined every Thursday. The forward made his breakthrough under Van Gaal in 2016, making an instant impact by scoring two goals on his Europa League and Premier League debuts days just apart.

However, Rashford’s dramatic burst onto the scene did not make him exempt from the Dutchman’s demands.
And the 25-year-old has now revealed how a “non-negotiable” demand meant Rashford was fined for being late every Thursday.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the Carabao Cup final, he explained: “I always remember Thursdays.
“I used to get fined every Thursday, [but] it was completely out of my control but this is the type of person that Van Gaal was.

“He used to tell me I have to finish my college work, it’s non-negotiable, but I also can’t be late for training, it’s non-negotiable.

Van Gaal, now 71, left United at the end of that season after winning the FA Cup.
Rashford has held a deep respect for his former manager, posting a touching tribute to him after Van Gaal announced he had prostate cancer.

Taking to Twitter at the time, Rashford said: “Earned my debut from LVG. Will forever be indebted. You can fight this. We are all behind you ♥️.”
On his development under Van Gaal, Rashford also said: “The time with Louis was very good for me. He and Ryan Giggs helped me a lot.
“Because that transition from the reserves to the first team can be hard — I hadn’t played much reserve football.
“I was on the bench for the first team before I had even started for the reserves.
“Van Gaal was top. At the time I was getting a lot of praise and attention from everywhere outside but the biggest thing for me were his words.
“That was what was making me smile every day. To be part of Man United’s first team.
“There were some games when it was difficult.
“I remember a game — Tottenham away — when he took me off at half-time. The next day we spoke honestly — I was still smiling.” More

Referee Stuartt Attwell showed Ziyech a red card before being advised to consult the VAR monitor.
Upon watching the replay Attwell reversed his call and booked the Morroccan instead.
That sparked confusion as Ziyech appeared to receive two bookings without being sent off.
But replays clarified Kai Havertz was subject to the first yellow card, allowing his team-mate to remain on the pitch.

Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink felt Ziyech was lucky not to be sent off, suggesting a different ref may have given him his marching orders.
He said: “From the other angle you see just that he hits his face.
“If you only see that then he needs to be sent off, and that’s why he’s a little bit lucky because another referee on a different day might have not switched it around [his decision].”
Fans were left puzzled by the incident with one describing it as a “shambles”.

Another added: “I’m more confused than that. Have him a yellow for the foul, then VAR told him it was a red for the slap, then told him to check it, then he changed it to a yellow, but it’s still a 2nd yellow so he’s still off. Totally lost now.”
A third said: “Attwell gives a red card, then checks the screen which shows no clear and obvious mistake but still downgrades it to a yellow?
    “Make it make sense?”
    Another commented: “Absolute garbage.” More
