And the Manchester Evening News report high on the wishlist for the upcoming transfer window are Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
The Red Devils will prioritise a striker following the departures of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo, while Wout Weghorst is only on loan.
Kane, 29, is a long-term target and has proved himself as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever No9s, notching up 201 goals.
Napoli’s 24-year-old Osimhen, meanwhile, has been tearing it up for the Serie A leaders.

Portugal and Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos, 21, is another potential target.
Elsewhere, Ten Hag wants to bring in Mohammad Kudus, 22, from former club Ajax.
And in midfield, Jude Bellingham, 19, is a key target while they could even reignite their pursuit of 25-year-old Frenkie de Jong.
Plus a centre-back might be needed should captain Harry Maguire be sold.

However, in order to fund the major splurge and make space in the squad, United know they need to get rid of a few players.
Alex Telles and Anthony Martial look on course to follow Maguire through the Old Trafford exit door.
United could be under new ownership by the time the transfer market reopens following bids by Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe to buy the Red Devils.
And the club could also be the holders of FOUR major trophies.
United beat Newcastle to win the Carabao Cup on Sunday and are still in the FA Cup and Europa League plus retain an outside chance of pipping Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Fans all making same joke about Chelsea after February goal of the month nominations are announced

FANS have all been making the same joke after realising that Joao Felix will win Chelsea’s goal of the month for February.Life at Chelsea has not been going well under Graham Potter and in February the club failed to win any of their five matches.

The Blues lost Premier League fixtures to Tottenham and Southampton as well as their Champions League first-leg tie against Borussia Dortmund.
While they drew to Fulham and West Ham at the start of the month.
However, they only managed to score in the game 1-1 draw against the Hammers.
The goal came from Felix and fans have been joking about the club’s goal of the month competition and that he will win the accolade due to a lack of competition from his team-mates.

One tweeted: “That is the only goal scored man hahaha.”
A second commented: “1 goal in a month? When was the last time this happened with Chelsea?”
A third wrote: “João Félix’s goal against West Ham will win Chelsea’s February Goal of the Month award. Because it was their only goal this month.”
While a fourth said: “Chelsea, had only one goal this month? I am surprised for them.”

A fifth added: “Scoring one goal in a whole month is insane.”
Although, the club’s in-house competition does also feature goals from the youth teams and women’s team, so it is not a foregone conclusion that Felix will win the award.
The women’s team netted 12 goals in February including Lauren James’ great strike against Tottenham. More

Arsenal boss Arteta warns Potter he must start winning matches and cannot rely on Chelsea owners’ backing forever

MIKEL ARTETA has told under-fire Chelsea manager Graham Potter that he cannot rely on the owners’ backing forever. The table topping Arsenal boss knows exactly what Potter is going through right now after enduring online abuse and demands for his dismissal last season.

And though he is sympathetic to Potter’s plight at Chelsea, he warns that continued failure on the pitch will only be tolerated for so long.
Arteta believes he was just two games from the sack when Arsenal were bottom of the table after losing their first three League matches last season.
He says: “The board were really supportive but at the end of the day you have to win matches because you know if the run continues it becomes unsustainable.
“I knew I had to win against Norwich and Burnley and after that everything started to get better.

“The environment improves, everybody is more confident and you can keep going. But unfortunately we all depend on results.”
Potter specifically cited the patience Arsenal showed to Arteta following Chelsea’s demoralising 2-0 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday.
It was a result which left him clinging on for dear life at Stamford Bridge after a miserable run of just two wins in 15 games.
Arteta understands Potter’s dilemma and says: “This job is so demanding and you have so many difficulties, especially when you lose.

“But you cannot allow it to destroy your life. Your family and loved ones don’t deserve to have their lives affected in such a negative way because you have lost a football match.
“Getting the balance right is critical and it helps if you have someone to put that picture in front of you, because it’s not easy to see when you’re in that position.
“When you have a close relationship with other managers like I have in Spain, Italy and here in England, of course you get in touch with them.
“When someone is going through a difficult period, we all give our support. Maybe not on the phone but at least with a nice text message.
“We are all colleagues and we all know the pressure, the demands and the uncertainty that come with this industry.
“So of course you empathise when someone is suffering because you know how it feels to go through these moments.” More

Man Utd fans love adorable drawing on Wout Weghorst’s dashboard as striker arrives to training in luxury Range Rover

WOUT WEGHORST proved he is a top dad as he drove into training with an adorable picture on his dashboard. The on-loan Dutch striker, 30, was pictured heading into Carrington on Tuesday in his Range Rover.

But he arrived with an extra accessory inside the luxury motor.
On the dashboard in front of the wheel, a piece of paper took pride of place with a crab and a starfish beautifully coloured in.
The artistic effort was no doubt done by one of his daughters – either four-year-old Juul or Lucie Mary Jo, who turns three in April.
Although it is unlikely to have been done by baby Daantje, who was only born in August.

And proud dad Weghorst wanted to give their effort a public showing by placing it in full view of the cameras at Carrington.
The Burnley striker, who is at Old Trafford for the second half of the season, won the first trophy of his career in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
He started in attack as goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford were enough for United to beat Newcastle at Wembley.
Weghorst, who came close to finding the net, said: “Still a bit unlucky with that, with the goals. It was a nice save.

“But hey, I’ve scored a lot of goals in the past and never won a single trophy. I sign straight for less goals and more trophies.”
But there was little time for celebrations for Erik ten Hag’s side with an FA Cup fifth-round clash with West Ham tomorrow.
The Red Devils welcome the Hammers to Old Trafford knowing victory would put them in the quarter-finals.
United are still in the Premier League title race, too, and know a win at Liverpool on Sunday would be a major boost.
And an incredible quadruple could still remarkably be on with United drawn against Real Betis in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag has done Carabao Cup final celebration dance before as amazing old footage emerges

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Erik ten Hag delighted fans with a dance after winning the Carabao Cup.But it’s not the first time he’s busted out some groovy moves, with amazing old footage from his Ajax days emerging.

Ten Hag led United to a 2-0 win over Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday, ending their six-year hoodoo without a trophy.
The Red Devils remain in the hunt for FA Cup and Europa League glory.
And they are still in with an outside shot at the Premier League title.
Ten Hag’s emotions got the better of him on Sunday at the final whistle, with the Dutchman breaking out his best dance moves alongside ex-Ajax players Antony and Lisandro Martinez.

United legend Roy Keane was not impressed, jokingly telling the tactician to resign.
And bitter Arsenal fan Piers Morgan branded it “embarrassing.”
But footage from Ten Hag’s days in the Dutch capital shows he has already performed similar moves with Antony and Martinez before.
Celebrating several Ajax trophy wins, Ten Hag and his aces could be seen grooving on the grass and in the dressing room.

And at Wembley, the United fan favourite made no apologies for his actions.
He said: “We have a history, Licha (Martinez) and Antony, in Amsterdam and we did some dancing. I hope we can do even more in the future but therefore we have to invest and sacrifice every day to win trophies.
“You have to celebrate. It is not business as usual, it is not a common day. We won a trophy and this trophy means something.
“That is the feeling I get here and we have won something. We have to celebrate but after that point you have to keep going because this cup can be the inspiration to get even more.”
Meanwhile, Ten Hag admitted the risky decision to swap Ajax for United had already paid off.
He added: “Maybe it was a risk but I just love United. So when I see our shirts, the boundary with the fans, when I see Old Trafford, the legacy like Sir Alex left, so many big players were developed in a United shirt and we want to do the same.
“This team wants to make its own history and when this opportunity came I thought it was the right club for me, I want to be part of it.
“It is one cup and it is February but it shows we are in the right direction. It has to be the inspiration to keep going and be happy for 24 hours, but not satisfied because satisfaction leads to laziness and then you don’t win trophies.” More

Man Utd and Man City’s incredible transfer spree since Guardiola arrived revealed as war of words over spending starts

MANCHESTER UNITED have outspent their city neighbours over the last few years and Pep Guardiola is keen to point out that fact. The Manchester City boss could not resist aiming a cheeky dig at the Red Devils following their Carabao Cup success.

United beat Newcastle at Wembley to win their first trophy since 2017, and Guardiola said it was only a matter of time until they began to compete again given their transfer spend.
Since Guardiola took charge in 2016 United have spent £1.077billion – a fraction more than City who’ve splashed £1.074bn.
But City’s net spend is significantly smaller at £478million thanks to major sales such as Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer.
United’s net spend over the last seven years is an astronomical £835m, showing they have chucked more money at their effort to win silverware.

Guardiola is well aware of the disparity between the two clubs in regard to net spend, so pointed it out after United’s Wembley triumph on Sunday.
He said: “Congratulations to United for the Carabao Cup. Sooner or later it should happen, shouldn’t it? Welcome.
“United have to be there. They’re in the position they normally should be.
“The reality is that two teams, Liverpool and ourselves, have done incredibly well with the numbers. Now it’s closer.”

Asked if United are now back as a major rival, Guardiola said with a smile: “Maybe. If they spend a little more money, yes?
“Because they didn’t spend, did they?
“When I landed here I thought United would always be there, for the history, for everything, and Erik ten Hag is doing an incredible job.
“And the players . . . you see how committed they are, how all together they try to do it after they have been five or six years without winning one title.”
    BIG MONEY BUYS
Manchester United spent big in the summer, splashing out over £200m to bring Antony, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro to the club.
Other big-money arrivals since 2016 include Jadon Sancho, Harry Maguire and Romelu Lukaku, who all cost in the region of £80m.
Paul Pogba, who joined ahead of the 2016/17 season remains Manchester United’s all-time most expensive transfer after his £89m arrival.
Man City’s most expensive signing is Jack Grealish, who became the Premier League’s first £100m player when he made the switch from Aston Villa in 2021.
Erling Haaland, Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo and Riyad Mahrez are just a few of the bigger deals seen at the Etihad since Guardiola landed at the club. More
