What does Bukayo Saka’s celebration mean?

BUKAYO SAKA continued his excellent goal-scoring form with another goal against Everton last night. The England star opened up the scoring with an emphatic finish, beating England teammate Jordan Pickford at his front post.
Saka opens the scoring against Everton
Saka’s goal helped the Gunners to a 4-0 win over Everton, taking them five points clear of Man City in second.
Why does Bukayo Saka hold the corner flag during his celebration?
During Saka’s goal celebration, the 21-year-old clutched the corner flag and placed his other hand on his hip as he stares back at the jubilant Arsenal fans.
The winger revealed that the celebration is actually a homage to Gunners legend Thierry Henry.
Saka revealed this after doing the same celebration during Arsenal’s 4-2 win a Villa park earlier in the season.

Did Bukayo Saka copy Marcus Rashford’s celebration?
Marcus Rashford is in a rich vain of goalscoring form, with 14 Premier League goals so far this season.
After scoring, the Mancunian celebrates goals by pointing to his temple.
This is to indicate that the forward is in a better head space under Eric Ten Hag after struggles with form under previous managers.
Saka celebrates his goal against Manchester United
Saka adopted the same celebration when the electric winger scored in Arsenal’s 3-2 win over the Red Devils in January.

Man Utd paying more wages than any other Premier League club as struggling Liverpool overtake City in salary table

MANCHESTER UNITED are paying more wages than any other Premier League club while Liverpool have overtaken Man City in the salary table.Top-flight sides have been releasing their financial accounts for the 2021/22 season and the figures show that the Red Devils were selling out the most on wages at £384m.

United did still have Cristiano Ronaldo on their books, who was pocketing £480,000-a-week, last term.
And his departure to Al-Nassr in December following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan has led to the £375,000-a-week David De Gea returning to top of the highest-earners at Old Trafford.
United are followed by Liverpool, whose wage bill has increased by a whopping 75 per cent since 2017.
The Reds announced they only made a £7.5m pre-tax profit last season as they jumped ahead of Man City into second.

New contracts for the likes of Andy Robertson, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will all have played a part in that.
Mo Salah has now also signed a new £350,000-a-week contract – but that package which made him their highest-paid player is not taken into account in these figures.
That has left Liverpool’s wage bill just £18m less than United’s last term, a gap that was £56m back in 2017.
Man City’s £354m yearly salary could still be overtaken by Chelsea, who are yet to release last season’s numbers.

Kevin De Bruyne, who pockets £400k on a weekly basis, is top dog with regards to wages at the Etihad while Kai Havertz, on £310,00-a-week, was the highest-earner at Stamford Bridge during the last campaign.
Meanwhile, Tottenham forked out more on player salaries than North London rivals Arsenal.

Spurs had a whopping 66 per cent increase from £127m in 2017 to £209m.
Arsenal’s wage bill also increased, but that was from £195m to £206m.
Thomas Partey was the top earner at Arsenal, but Gabriel Jesus is the new one on £265k-a-week after his summer arrival for Man City. More

3 Dream Team transfer suggestions ahead of March refresh – master the month ahead

TRANSFERS are set to be replenished on Friday morning (March 3rd) and we’re on hand to provide for gaffers craving suggestions. As always, it’s unlikely all these specific recommendations will apply to your team but you should be able to apply to same logic to suit your needs to some degree.
OUT: Fabian Schar (£4.3m), IN: Luke Shaw (£3.8m)
Left-back, centre-back, he can do it all!Credit: GETTY
It would be overly dramatic to say that the Newcastle gravy train has been derailed but it’s simply factual to say their points have dried up in recent weeks.
The Magpies’ Swiss centre-back has mustered just two points from his last six games.
It won’t be easy for Schar’s backers to disregard him, the 31-year-old has offered tremendous value for money from the get-go and remains the second-best defender in the game.
However, Eddie Howe’s side have just three fixtures to fulfil this month at present and one of them is a trip to the Etihad, where very few defenders escape with any points in tow.
In contrast, Manchester United’s left-back has registered 30 points in his last six outings and he’ll be plenty busy in the coming weeks.
The Red Devils have two Europa League knockout legs against Real Betis around three domestic fixtures, one of which is a home game against 20th-placed Southampton.
OUT: Aleksandar Mitrovic (£4.4m), IN: Ollie Watkins (£4.5m)
    Most read in Football
    A lull in returns
Fulham are another team with just three fixtures prior to the international break and it’s a tricky little set: Brentford, Arsenal, Man United.
That last one is an FA Cup quarter-final and while Marco Silva’s side have proven themselves capable of competing against any side, it’s hard to see their assets earning many points before their fixtures turn favourable again in April.
After a blistering start to the campaign, Mitrovic’s returns have tailed off recently, partly due to some nagging injuries.
The Serbian No9 has just five points to show for his efforts since the start of Game Week 16 – he’s played nine times since then.
On the flip side, Aston Villa’s centre-forward can’t stop scoring.
Watkins has scored in five consecutive games, a run that features meetings with Arsenal and Manchester City.
Unai Emery’s men face Crystal Palace, West Ham and Bournemouth next, three teams below them in the table that have found wins hard to come by in 2022/23.
Alternatively, Gabriel Martinelli (£3.4m) would be a mighty fine replacement for Mitrovic.
The 21-year-old Brazilian rocketed back into form in a big way this past Game Week with a 22-point haul!
OUT: Alisson (£3.6m), IN: Aaron Ramsdale (£3.6m)
    Presented without comment
Dream Team bosses probably don’t need much encouragement to ditch their Liverpool assets – it’s been a frustratingly inconsistent season for the Reds.
In fairness, their first-choice keeper has been one of their better performers but the Brazil international won’t be relishing March’s match-ups.
Alisson faces Man United this coming Sunday, which means coming up against perhaps the world’s most in-form goalscorer in Marcus Rashford (£6.5m).
And while a trip to relegation-threatened Bournemouth may offer some respite, there could be more minus points on the cards when Jurgen Klopp’s troops travel to the Bernabeu to face a Real Madrid side who recently battered them 5-2 at Anfield.
As for the Gunners’ No1, he’ll feel confident of his clean sheet chances against the Cherries and again later in the month at home to Palace.
    Read More on The Sun
A trip to Craven Cottage is not a straightforward task this term but Ramsdale may also be able to supplement his points tally if selected to face Sporting CP over two legs in the Europa League – he made two appearances in the competition during the group stage with Matt Turner playing the other four.
Premier League glory remains the ultimate goal but Mikel Arteta will realise his side are among the favourites to win the Europa League too and so he may feel compelled to start his first-choice keeper. More

He has thrived since arriving at the Emirates, establishing himself as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left-back ahead of Kieran Tierney.
And he produced another sensational display on Wednesday evening, sliding Bukayo Saka through to rifle home the opener in a 4-0 win over Everton.
The result takes Arsenal five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
And Morgan believes Ukraine captain Zinchenko has been the side’s standout performer in the campaign, narrowly edging ahead of Saka and skipper Martin Odegaard.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “My argument for the last 18 years has been there have been so many weak links in the team. You’d see Arsenal go out against the bigger clubs: Chelsea, United, City, whatever.
“There were always weaknesses in those starting XIs. I don’t see any weaknesses now. I just see a mixture of youth and experience, players who’ve got the right attitude now.
“The signings that were made in the close season – bringing Saliba back, [he] has been transformative with Gabriel.
“Getting Gabriel Jesus, although he’s been injured, imagine what it’ll be like when he’s back for the run in.

“For me, potentially along with Saka and Odegaard, the player of the season for us, and maybe the Premier League, has been Zinchenko.
“Pep Guardiola said he was surplus to requirements. His heat map last night is absolutely insane. That guy was supposed to be left-back and he was absolutely everywhere.”
Morgan then went on to add: “Then you get to Partey, immensely important when he came on, Xhaka has turned himself around from being booed off the pitch to one of our key players.
“I remember the Wenger title winning teams and there were no weaknesses on the pitch and I feel that again.
“That’s why I’m excited about our chances of winning the league.
“We are up against City who have this amazingly deep squad, but I don’t think they are as good as they have been. I think we are as strong as we have been since 2004.”
Next up for Arsenal is a home game against Bournemouth on Saturday.
They then resume their Europa League campaign with a last-16 tie against Sporting Lisbon, with a trip to Fulham sandwiched in between the two legs.

We live near a Premier League ground and we HATE it – rowdy fans poo in front of our homes… it’s disgusting

LOCALS living near a Premier League ground have revealed how fed up they are with rowdy fans – with some even pooing outside their homes. And on top of having to hose human mess from gardens, and pick up litter from streets, the west London residents are left battling to find a car park on game days.

Michael Lock says he had to shoo away a fan who was pooing outside his homeCredit: SWNS
Michael Lock, 66, is one of the many living in the shadow of Brentford Community Stadium.
He says he’s endured a variety of issues since Brentford’s home ground was built in 2020 – including having to shoo away a man who was pooing outside his home in broad daylight.
The 66-year-old told The Sun: “My son gets the footage to his phone from the Ring camera and he called me and said I should go and look by the house.
“I saw this guy defecating right by the house at 4pm after a game.
    Read more on Sport
“It was like a cow had been there. I had to get the jet washer to sort it out.
“And when I confronted him he just said, ‘When you got to go’ and he got in his car and left.”
Michael says the streets and locals’ properties are also left littered with food scraps and empties after games as Premier League fans just drop their rubbish.
The Heathrow security worker said: “People often buy chicken from the shop and cans of drink and chuck them over the hedges of the ground floor flats over there that are for disabled people.
    Most read in Football
“Their gardens are the space they can go outside easily and enjoy being outside but people throw rubbish in there.”
One of the most “annoying” issues is fans nicking residents’ parking during matches, Michael said.
He’s even fighting to have gates put up to lock sports lovers out.
“It is all resident parking but people don’t pay attention to the signs or even when we tell them and still park here,” Michael said.
“It is annoying with parking as there is very limited spaces and people come down here and park for the game.”
And he’s not alone in his parking woes.
One neighbour who has lived in the area for 25 years said travelling fans often dump their cars along her permitted road.
She said: “They are not allowed to park here but that doesn’t always stop them.
“You see cars dotted around here who have parked when they shouldn’t.”

    ‘TRAFFIC WAS AWFUL’
Elizabeth, who lives next to the stadium, agreed.
She said: “I tend to stay in and work around the weekends they are playing as it is difficult to get around on these days.
“The first week it opened I made the mistake of going to B&Q and when I came out the traffic was awful.
“I ended up having to park about a mile from my road just to get back.”
Despite the residents’ qualms, the stadium has given the area a much-needed boost to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
That’s because since it opened about three years ago it has brought swells of people into the area, according to those working in the neighborhood.
Din Mohammed owns convenience shop Nipa Stores, which backs onto the stadium.
He said: “It’s great – it’s a real community club. We don’t get rowdy people, all the people who come in are good people.
“And with the crowds we get good business from them.”
Another worker, Ayman Mahnay, 39, said compared to other football stadiums, Brentford Football Club has got it right.
    ‘GOT IT RIGHT’
He knows that because while he works in the area, he lives in Finsbury Park near Arsenal’s stadium.
The foot outlet worker said: “We don’t have any problems, in fact we get lots of business so the football days are always good for us.
“There are no issues with drunk people.”
Ayman continued: “Here it is very calm and organised – I think because they have set it up very well.
“In Finsbury Park there is less space and less organisation so when there is a game it can be very busy and not as nice as here.”
Mark Cullen, 56, also works in the area and mirrored Ayman’s views.
He said: “I used to live in Chelsea in the 80s and it was awful there because the area just couldn’t handle the mass of fans and what a big football event brings.
“Here they have learnt from other clubs on what not to do and have got it right.”
Mark added: “Instead of being disruptive it gives the area a boost.”
