A fourth wrote: “Mason Mount best performance this season.”
While a Chelsea fan joked: “Not sure which I’d rather in our midfield tbh.”
Mount has scored just three goals in 32 appearances for Chelsea so far this season.
However, he received praise from fans following his cameo appearance off the bench during the Blues’ 2-0 defeat to Tottenham last week.

The midfielder was due to be in contention for a spot in Graham Potter’s starting line-up ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Leeds.
But, the Chelsea boss ruled him out of the fixture during Friday’s press conference.
He said: “Mason’s had a problem with his lower abdomen area, the bone, so he’ll miss the game tomorrow. We hope it won’t be too long but tomorrow will be too soon.
“Mason, for us, has been great to work with. He’s been top. He’s suffering like the rest of us because we want to do better, we want better results.”
Mount has less than 18 months remaining on his current Chelsea contract.
And he is yet to agree terms for a new deal despite the club’s repeated attempts at negotiations.
When addressing the midfielder’s ongoing contract saga, Potter added: “In terms of the contract, that’s between him and the club.
“I’m the head coach and I get on with my job to work with the players and help them improve and at the moment we’re not doing that as well as we’d like, so that’s the focus for me.”
With Mount’s contract running down, Liverpool have expressed an interest in signing him. More

Chelsea’s shocking demise laid bare as stunning Fred stat shows just how far Blues are behind Man Utd and Co

SCORING goals has been a major problem for Chelsea this season. In fact, the Blues have netted just SIX times in nearly four months.
Goals scored in all competitions since November 6

Manchester United midfielder Fred has scored the same amount of goals as Chelsea in the last four monthsCredit: Alamy
That’s six goals in 15 games since November, and just three of those have come in the Premier League.
No Prem team has scored fewer goals than Chelsea since November 6.
Their tally in that period is the same as Manchester United midfielder Fred, a player who is hardly renowned for finding the back of the net.
The Old Trafford ace is on something of a hot streak at the moment, while the shocking demise at Stamford Bridge is clear for all to see.

To put things into perspective, Manchester United have scored 53 goals in the same period that Chelsea have scored just six.
Marcus Rashford alone has netted 18 times since November 6 – three times Chelsea’s tally.
Manchester City and Arsenal have also scored five times as many goals as Chelsea in that period.
Even struggling Leeds United have scored 20 goals in all competitions since November 6 – 14 more than the Blues.

While Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Riyad Mahrez, Mo Salah, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins, Eddie Nketiah and James Ward-Prowse have all outscored Chelsea in that four month period.
Graham Potter’s appointment was always billed as a long-term project, but the current run of form is a major cause for concern.
The Blues are winless in their last six games and have won just two out of their last 16 Prem matches, leaving them slumped tenth in the Prem table.
Rivals Leeds, buoyed by the arrival of Javi Gracia, and Borussia Dortmund are up next for Potter and his wounded side.
And two more poor results could leave the Blues boss facing the axe.
By that time the resurgent Fred could have even added to his tally and overtaken Chelsea for goals scored since November 6. More

Staggering cost of Ivan Toney’s impending ban for betting breaches revealed as Brentford ‘planned to sell him’

IVAN TONEY’s impending ban for betting breaches could cost Brentford TENS OF MILLIONS as the Bees planned on cashing in on their star man in the summer, according to reports. The 26-year-old was charged with 232 alleged breaches between 2017 and 2021 last November, and another 30 a month later.

Toney admitted to many of the 262 charges, but has contested others.
According to Sky Sports, Toney is expected to be banned for a minimum of six months.
And now the Daily Mail are reporting that Brentford may not be able to cash in on Toney as planned.
The striker has netted 26 Premier League goals across the last two seasons for the Bees, attracting interest from a host of top clubs.

But with Toney expected to be out of action, his £50m valuation could dwindle.
And the player will only have two years left on the five-year deal he signed worth around £20,000-a-week when he joined from Peterborough in 2020.
Toney is also expecting a significant pay rise if he’s to put pen to paper on new terms.
Manchester United and Newcastle are two clubs said to be keen on Toney.

The player used to be on the Toon’s books between 2015-2018.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank backed Toney, following his striker’s complaints about his guilty plea being revealed by Sportsmail.
Frank said: “We share Ivan’s disappointment with leaks in a confidential case and the timing of them just before this international break.
“The talk of a potential ban is disappointing.” More

I’m an ex-Premier League boss who fought off pack of hungry WOLVES by gouging out one’s eye and breaking another’s jaw

WHEN you think of football’s hardmen, you tend to think of Vinnie Jones, Duncan Ferguson, Pepe…But what about the truly hard footballing figures?

Look no further than the former Premier League boss who fought off a pack of hungry wolves with nothing but his bare hands.
The story came to light in early 2015, when the man himself fessed up to the outrageous encounter.
The boss – still managing in the Championship – took a trip to Transylvania during some well-earned down-time in 2007.
Transylvania – a mountainous area of Romania – is famously the home of Count Dracula and is awash with myths about vampires and werewoves.

And the manager’s trip the notorious region almost led to disaster after he was cornered by a pack of vicious wolves.
    The manager in question?
None other than Bristol City chief Nigel Pearson.
During a trek through the wilderness, ex-Leicester boss Pearson claims to have been surrounded by FIVE savage beasts.

To escape, Pearson – who famously called a reporter an “ostrich” during his time as Foxes boss – gouged one wolf’s eye and broke another’s jaw, with the rest scattering.
In a Sky Sports documentary in 2015, he claimed: “There were five of them – what they do is that one goes for you and the others circle around until one of them can bring you down.

“What they essentially do is rip the throat out.”
Pearson said he initially threw himself into a patch of brambles hoping they would leave him alone.
But he was forced to defend himself by using his walking poles as they continued to advance.
He continued: “I backed myself against a tree – I thought ‘I don’t want to get attacked from behind’. I was absolutely goosed by this point.”
Old pal Stuart Pearce – then Pearson’s boss as part of the England Under-21s setup – even backed up the incredible tale.
The former England left-back said: “Every summer [Pearson] used to go away on his own on a walking holiday.
“One year he went to Transylvania. Got the train and went out to Transylvania and was warned if he goes walking in the mountains there are wolves and bears that type of thing.
“He got surrounded by a pack of wolves, backed himself up to a hedge to stop them getting behind him and gouged one of their eyes out and broke another’s jaw and managed to get away.
“He said if they managed to get behind him they would have killed him.”

Peter Crouch even got in on the tale during his Radio 5 Live podcast in 2020 when discussing where footballers and managers normally go on holiday.
DJ Chris Stark, recounting the tale, revealed: “I saw this story – and it came from Stuart Pearce, who had Nigel Pearson as his assistant whilst they were at England Under-21s.
“And this is an amazing story – every summer [Pearson] used to go away on his own on a walking holiday.
“One year he went to Transylvania and was warned if he goes walking in the mountains that there are wolves and bears.
“And apparently – and I can imagine Pearson going through this – he got surrounded by a pack of wolves.
“He backed himself up to a hedge to stop them getting behind him and then he gouged one of their eye’s out, broke another wolf’s jaw and then managed to escape.”
In response, Crouch could only muster the words: “That’s incredible.”
When asked if he thought Pearson had truly scrapped with the wolves, Crouchy said: “I wouldn’t put is past him…

And SunSport understands that New York-based Raine Group is now planning to sit down with both parties, probably within the coming fortnight, to flesh out fuller details of a potential deal.
The Glazers want £6bn to sell with the two bidders currently valuing the club at around £4.5bn.
There are also signs of a split in the Glazer family over their next step, with co-chairmen Avram and Joel Glazer keenest to retain their stakes and stay at the club.
Meetings with the two bid teams are likely to be held in the UK, either in London or in Manchester.

That is expected to come ahead of the consortia being given access to the United books for the due diligence process.
It may then be a month or more before either contender is in a position to make a second more official bid after the initial “indicative” offers last month.
A number of hedge funds, including US-based Elliott Management – formerly owners of AC Milan – and Oaktree, helped finance the Chinese Suning corporation’s purchase of Inter, are also keen to underpin any United bid.

But it remains to be seen if the Glazers are willing to listen to any offers below their valuation.

And with an unofficial deadline for closing the deal the opening of the summer transfer window on June 1 there are less than 13 weeks to go for United to change hands.
United will be back in action on Sunday, travelling to Anfield to take on bitter rivals Liverpool. More

‘It is beautiful’ – Smug Tottenham ace Cristian Romero opens up on celebrating in Mbappe’s face as he makes NO apologies

CRISTIAN ROMERO claims it was “beautiful” to celebrate in Kylian Mbappe’s face during Argentina’s World Cup final triumph over France. The Tottenham centre-back even appeared to blame his antics on the hat-trick scorer “saying very bad things” to Enzo Fernandez.

Mbappe’s spot-kick then took the Qatar showpiece to a shootout that Argentina won 4-2 – helped by keeper Emi Martinez controversially leaping around.
And questioned about his reaction in the December 2022 final, Romero revealed he is delighted the incident has been immortalised in picture form.
He told TyC Sports: “The photo is beautiful.

Man Utd boss Erik Ten Hag’s surprise secrets to success revealed, with boring 11 vs 0 training games and afternoon naps

ERIK TEN HAG  has brought exciting football back to Manchester United — but he bored the pants off players in his first job as a boss.Initially, at least . . .

Sjoerd Overgoor was part of the Go Ahead Eagles squad that had to adapt to Ten Hag’s methods when he arrived at the second-tier Dutch club in the summer of 2012.
Overgoor said: “A lot of players thought, ‘This coach is crazy’.“At the end of pre-season, we did a lot of 11 against zero.
“He showed us patterns and where to take our positions. Starting from the goalkeeper, he plays to the left central defender, then we build up from there.
“It’s a little bit boring because you have no opponents to play.“We did it a lot and after a couple of times, it was, ‘Again? 11 against zero?’ ”
    READ MORE MAN UTD NEWS
Like United’s stars — notably Cristiano Ronaldo before he left and Marcus Rashford — the Eagles players also had to cope with Ten Hag’s disciplinary code.
Overgoor, 34, explained: “From day one, he was the same as he’s been at United, just really strict.
“On the first day of training, we had bibs to play eight against eight games — yellow, green and orange.
“After training, we then put them all together and he said, ‘No, I want the yellow ones here, the orange ones here’.

“If you were late for training, you couldn’t train.
“He was strict to make us more professional.”
The new regime also included the players doing double training sessions and then taking mandatory afternoon naps before being allowed home at 3pm.
But Overgoor felt that Ten Hag was singling him out for the hairdryer treatment.
He said: “At the end of pre-season, even other players said, ‘He’s shouting at you a lot’.
“So, I went to see him and he opened my eyes. He said, ‘If I am shouting at you, you get angry, you win more duels, you are more aggressive in a positive way.
“ ‘You are a player who is satisfied with 80, 90 per cent — but you can really improve so much. That is why I am screaming at you’.”
After that conversation, both men had a new understanding and Ten Hag showed his more human side as the season went on.
Meanwhile, the manager’s “boring” methods were bearing fruit on the pitch.
Overgoor added: “We recognised patterns in games from the 11 against zero training sessions and that gave us a lot of confidence.
“And more players started to think, ‘This coach is something special because what we see in training, we see in the games as well’.
Sjoerd Overgoor says Go Ahead Eagles players were gutted when Ten Hag left them in 2013 to take over Bayern Munich IICredit: Alamy

“We started to believe more and to listen to exactly what he was going to say.”
Like Casemiro at United, Ten Hag described midfielder Overgoor as the “cement between the stones” of his Eagles team.
Overgoor would never compare himself to the five-time Champions League-winning Brazilian — but he and Casemiro both appreciate the relentless demands.
The Dutchman said: “As Ten Hag has done at United, he set high standards and wanted to improve every day.
“On Friday evening, we might win 3-0 and think, ‘OK, Saturday we’ll do a bit of running and relaxing, just recovery training’.
“But at 9am he would come to me and say, ‘Sjoerd, I want to show you some clips’.
“And the clips would be  like I had lost 6-0!
“I saw an interview with Casemiro. He said that he had played with a lot of big coaches but added, ‘Ten Hag has the same attitude as me, every day he wants to improve’.”
Playing a similar formation and style to Ten Hag’s Red Devils, the Eagles improved so much that they won promotion to the Eredivisie, via the play-offs in 2013, after a 17-year absence.
But Ten Hag left to coach Bayern Munich’s B team.
And Overgoor said: “I have to thank him for my career.
We all knew, ‘This is a coach that makes me so much better’. He wanted to push us to another level.Sjoerd Overgoor
“I improved a lot in everything. My level went up and that’s why I played a couple of years in the Eredivisie.
“A lot of us were really disappointed when he left the club.
“We all knew, ‘This is a coach that makes me so much better. If he stays, who knows where I can go?’ ”
The Eagles were relegated after two seasons in the top flight.
Overgoor played in Holland and Hungary before retiring at the age of 32 with a knee injury.
He is now in charge of the Under-13s at FC Twente, his and Ten Hag’s old club, while occasionally turning out for the fourth-tier amateur side HSC ’21, based in Ten Hag’s home town of Haaksbergen.
Overgoor added: “Some tips he gave me as a coach, I give to the players here as well.

“When I coach the older youth teams, I will use more of what he did. I shout but in my way. I explain why I’m doing it.
