Midway through the first half the away side earned themselves a corner.
And Luke Shaw proceeded to trudge over to take the set-piece in notably laboured fashion.
Gary Neville, on commentary for the game, insisted slowing the game down was something United should be trying to do.
He also claimed it was a tactic Sir Alex Ferguson would have told him to employ back in the day.

But Carragher was quick to remind his Man Utd colleague that Ten Hag has recently spoken out against attempts to waste time.
The Liverpool legend said: “Erik ten Hag had a go at Newcastle for that”.
Prior to Man Utd’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final, Ten Hag urged his players to ignore elements of gamesmanship from the opposition.
He said: “It’s a great team, they have a clear philosophy about how they want to play the game.

“The key word is intensity, they do really well, but they’re an annoying team to play against, so we have to find a way to win.
“They try to annoy you. We have to play our game and focus on our game.”
He then went on to add: “For instance, so if you see the referee want to play an effective time. They have the lowest in the league and they are quite successful with it.
“So it’s up to us that we get speed in the game and we are also then dependent on the refereeing as well.”
But any timewasting tactics would fail spectacularly as Liverpool romped to an incredible 7-0 victory. More

Roy Keane and Gary Neville made to eat their words after mocking Souness’ Liverpool vs Man Utd prediction

ROY KEANE and Gary Neville both cheekily smirked as Graeme Souness backed Liverpool to beat Manchester United. But it was Souness who had the last laugh as the Reds handed United their biggest defeat in NINETY-TWO YEARS.
🗣️ “I fully expect them [Liverpool] to turn up today, it’s a long time since I’ve been this confident about a Liverpool win against [Manchester] United.” Graeme Souness is backing a Liverpool victory today. 💪 pic.twitter.com/O8zm9apXBa— Football Daily (@footballdaily) March 5, 2023

Graeme Souness is confident of a Liverpool victory
Roy Keane and Gary Neville could barely contain their laughter
Despite being unconvincing going into the match, Jurgen Klopp’s men hammered Ten Hag’s side 7-0 at Anfield.
Before the match, Souness said on Sky Sports: “I think where Liverpool are right now, this game comes at the perfect time.
“What an opportunity to put a marker down, to shut all the doubting Thomases up, and damage United.
“I fully expect them to turn up today. And it’s a long time, Kelly, since I’ve been as confident about a Liverpool win against United as I am today.

“I just feel they’re going to turn up today.
“I think they’ll be bang up for it today. This is a difficult place for United to come.”
Keane and Neville struggled to contain their laughter by the end of Souness’ prediction, with the pair both tipping their former side to win.

Neville suggested the game could go either way but had faith in his former team and expected Casemiro to play a big role.

“Get through that first half an hour and it’s anyone’s game.
“I always feel Liverpool are really strong in that first part of the game but with Casemiro in the team which we know he will be today, I’ve got real faith in United.
“He’s done something really special in that dressing room, obviously with the manager.”
Ironically Man Utd did get through the first half hour, but then fell behind to Cody Gakpo’s goal on 43 minutes.
A total capitulation would follow in the second half as Gakpo scored again, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah netted doubles and Roberto Firmino capped things off with the seventh after some comical United defending. More

There was a cacophony of boos and chants aimed at the 59-year-old at the Amex in what was the Hammers heaviest defeat in four years.
But SunSport understands chairman David Sullivan and the board are sticking by their manager despite them now plummeting further into a relegation fight.
West Ham are now winless in 11 away matches in the Premier League and just two points above all three teams in the drop zone.
And Moyes faces a crucial few weeks which could go some way to deciding his imminent future, with a trip to Cyprus’ Aek Larnaca coming up in the Europa Conference League last 16.

Gary Neville fears Glazers are not going to make Man Utd sale ‘easy’ and hints they could even STAY as owners

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Gary Neville has hinted that the Glazer family could decide to stay at Old Trafford. The current owners are in the process of selling the club, but they are understood to be demanding £6billion for a complete takeover.

Three bidders – including Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and one unknown candidate – advanced to the next stage of the process on Saturday night.
But Neville fears that Joel and Avram Glazer will use the negotiations to secure a minority investment rather than sell the whole club.
The former defender told Sky Sports: “We could try and ask for transparency and better communication but we’re not going to get that from the Glazers.
“They’ve not communicated to United fans for 20 years so they’re not going to do it when they’re selling the club, so there is that element of unknown.

“I’d like to think decent owners of a football club would update the fans on what’s going on, but they’re not.
“The biggest fear for Manchester United fans at this moment time is the fact that the Glazers could be using this process to stay, or bring some sort of minority investment in.”
He later added: “It’s absolutely unequivocal and definite that the fans want rid of the Glazer family, and they do know that.
“But they need to understand if they weren’t to sell this would not be a great situation at Manchester United and in Manchester at all, it wouldn’t be taken well.

“So I think at this moment in time there’s still that fear it’s not going to happen. But, hopefully [it will], it’s moving through the process as it ordinarily would do with a sale process.
“Hopefully they’re going to accept the best bid, and not some sort of fantasy number that they’ve got in their head.
“But I don’t think they’ll make it easy. They’re the owners, we have rules and regulations and laws in our country which are right that you can’t just get people out of a company that they own shares in.
“And they’re going to need to accept that bid, and hopefully they will.” More

Speaking on Sky Sports, the Man Utd Utd icon said: “He’s in great form.
“I wasn’t sure if he had that personality but he has, he’s taken the responsibility.
“I think he’s enjoyed the responsibility. He’s in the form of his life, clear mentally, he’s focusing on his football now, it’s his priority and he’s getting rewards.”
Rashford has been in excellent form since the World Cup and across the season.

The 25-year-old has scored 25 goals this season, a personal best for him, while also adding nine assists.
His goals have helped fire United into the top four and keep them in the hunt for four trophies this season.
Rashford scored in last week’s Carabao Cup final and scored in United’s Europa League first leg against Barcelona.

Should he line up on his favoured left side, then Rashford will face off against Trent Alexander-Arnold.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the Liverpool star described Rashford as a “threat”.
He said: “He is in very good form. But he is one of those players where he is always a threat and always has been. Players get judged on their stats.
“For strikers it is all about if you are scoring, or assisting. But even last year you knew when against him he was a massive threat. It was all there.
“Maybe that is something those watching do not really see, but as a player out there you feel it.
“It wouldn’t matter whether I was up against him and he has scored ten games in a row, or if he has only scored ten over two seasons, you feel that threat out there and know you have to be at the top of your game to deal with it.
“He is one of those players who has that.” More
