“When it was three or four, you take your medicine, you take your loss. The way they were so open, the manager tried to make substitutions, they threw the towel in.
“I try and imagine: If I had ever been beaten in a big game like this, I would go into hiding as a player. You would. Never mind a few days, a few months!
“It really is that embarrassing for the players. What can you do? That’s the game. They have to bounce back and they have a big European game in the middle of the week.”

    HALF-TIME ANTICS
Keane also laid into the Manchester United team for their half-time antics.
He said: “The thing I’m always wary of with Man United, they won the cup last week, a lot of celebration and of course I’d never begrudge a team of that.
“But they turned up against West Ham, I’m at the game, and the circus is back in town at Man United.
“I was always wary of that as a player there: Keeping an eye on people, don’t get carried away because you know what this game can do to you.
“I see the players come here today in the second half, having a laugh and a joke.
“They’re 1-0 down at Anfield and they’re having laugh and a joke with the Anfield staff, goalkeeping coach. I don’t like to see all that rubbish.
“I think that circus can creep back in and the manager and senior players have to keep an eye on that.
“It was the same against West Ham the other night: A lot of presentations, celebrations. I understand one or two – but not four or five.
“West Ham let them off the hook, because they are not good enough.

With Newcastle and Tottenham losing this weekend, the top four race might have swung back in the Reds’ favour.
Liverpool fans were convinced during the World Cup that Bellingham had an eye on their club rather than the likes of Man City and Real Madrid.
The midfielder appeared to share a close bond with both Alexander-Arnold and Henderson, both Anfield stalwarts.
And on the pitch his stock rose even higher in Qatar with his stunning performances for England not going unnoticed.
He has also been impressive since club football restarted with his Dortmund side enjoying fantastic form ahead of their trip to Chelsea in the Champions League. More

Stats show VAR has HELPED Arsenal in title race despite Gunners fans being left baffled by decisions

VAR has appeared to have HELPED Arsenal in their title pursuit – despite fans being left angered by decisions this season. The Gunners have put themselves in a very encouraging position heading into the final few months of the Premier League season.

Mikel Arteta’s side have a five point lead over Manchester City – and have left every other team in the dust.
The club are potentially just 12 games away from a first title in almost two decades.
But anxious fans have become increasingly suspicious of VAR – and that mood went into overdrive last month after Lee Mason’s mistake when Brentford visited the Emirates.
But new stats from ESPN suggest Arsenal have actually had the rub of the green when it comes to video technology.
    READ MORE ARSENAL NEWS
The club have seen five decisions go their way this season, with only a handful of clubs getting more lucky with VAR interventions.
Meanwhile, title rivals Man City have only had one VAR decision go their way all season long.
Only relegation-battling Southampton have had a less good time of it from officials at Stockley Park with the Saints not having a single decision go in their favour so far.
At the other end of the VAR table, West Ham have benefited the most from controversial refereeing decisions with eight moments going in their favour.

West Ham have had the most VAR decisions go in their favour this season
Fellow Londoners Brentford follow with seven decisions, while Fulham, Liverpool and Newcastle all had six moments go their way thanks to technology.
While Arsenal have enjoyed some favourable interventions, data suggests they have also had five decisions go against them throughout the course of the season.
Along with Mason’s howler, the Gunners have found themselves at the centre of several 50/50 VAR moments.
Many disagreed with the decision to award Arsenal a penalty against Man City when Eddie Nketiah clashed with goalkeeper Ederson last month.
While even more controversy was sparked when Leandro Trossard saw his goal against Leicester chalked off later in February. More

Chelsea fans troll Man Utd supporters for ‘worrying about the wrong 7’ and hurrying to delete Mykhailo Mudryk memes

Mudryk, 22, has failed to register a single goal contribution in his first six outings for Chelsea.
This led to fans mocking up “007” memes ahead of his seventh appearance – referencing no goals and no assists in seven games.
They would backfire dramatically, however, with United going on to ship seven goals to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The rampant Reds mauled Erik ten Hag’s men, with Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah grabbing doubles before Roberto Firmino’s late strike.

And as it happened Mudryk didn’t even get off the bench to make his seventh appearance as Chelsea beat Leeds 1-0, leaving him stuck on six.
One Blues supporter tweeted: “Man United fans were getting gassed over Mudryk potentially being 007, you’re worried about the wrong 7.”
A second joked: “Potter’s Chelsea kept a clean sheet at Anfield.”
And a third similarly quipped: “Man United fans were worried about the wrong 007.”

The 28-year-old had the honour of captaining the Red Devils at Anfield, as he has done this season with Harry Maguire benched.
However, by the end of the game United legend Gary Neville was describing him as “embarrassing”, while Roy Keane brandished Fernandes’ body language as “disgraceful”.

As the goals continued to pile in in front of the Kop, United skipper Fernandes appeared to give up.
And former Premier League striker Chris Sutton picked out five Fernandes flashpoints from the dismal defeat that made it “one of the worst performances” ever from a Prem captain.

Writing for the Daily Mail, Sutton blasted: “Bruno Fernandes shoved the referee’s assistant. He acted as if his nose had exploded when caught in the chest by Ibrahima Konate.
“He dived to try to win a penalty from Alisson. He refused to track Stefan Bajcetic when beaten.
“He waved his arms in the air when Erik ten Hag did not substitute him.
“Bruno Fernandes, take a bow for one of the worst performances we have seen from a Premier League player, certainly from a captain.”

Sutton went on to brandish Fernandes “The Incredible Sulk.”
Fans on social media agreed, labelling Fernandes as embarrassing after he hit the deck clutching his face following minimal contact from Ibrahima Konate.
And Old Trafford icon Neville was left fuming after claiming Fernandes had questioned why hadn’t been subbed off by Erik ten Hag.
He said on commentary: “Bruno Fernandes is stood in the centre circle with his arms raised saying ‘Why isn’t it me coming off?’ Honestly.
“I think some of his behaviour in the second half has been a disgrace.”
Neville also hit out at Fernandes’ captain credentials following the Anfield display.
He declared: “That wasn’t a captain’s performance from a Manchester United player and I am sure Erik ten Hag will deal with that.”
While Sky colleague and former United team-mate Keane said: “Fernandes’ body language today was nothing short of disgraceful.
“A really talented boy, he’s your captain, but his body language, waving his arms, not running back… you wouldn’t be happy with him in your dressing room.”
Ten Hag made Fernandes stay out on the pitch to endure the full 90 minutes of torture, despite the midfielder perhaps wanting to see the game out from the safety of the dugout.

Fernandes did then face the media after United’s worst defeat in nearly a century, saying: “It is very frustrating, disappointing, sad because it is a really bad result.

For 43 minutes the game was goalless, before Cody Gakpo broke the deadlock shortly before the break.
From then on, Man Utd capitulated as Liverpool demolished their bitter rivals.
But Neville did not agree with Souness and Carragher on what could be taken from the performances of the two sides.
On the Sky Sports coverage, Souness began by referencing his prediction before the game that Liverpool would win comfortably.

He then added: “Gary said off-air that you thought Liverpool played badly today.”
Neville replied: “I didn’t say that. I said I thought first half Manchester United were the better team. I think that in the second half it was about Manchester United’s capitulation.”
Souness chimed back with: “So that had nothing to do with Liverpool playing well?”
Before Neville qualified his view, adding: “I don’t think when Jurgen Klopp analyses that game tomorrow – the momentum from that he’ll take – but I don’t think he’ll think ‘we’re back’.

As Souness attempted to come back in, an agitated Neville then said: “Look at them. You’re gloating like little children.”
To which Souness replied: “You can’t come out with a daft remark like ‘Liverpool didn’t play well today’.”

Neville added: “I’ve seen Liverpool for five or six years and they’ve put in some of the best performances I’ve ever seen. They’re still not back anywhere near that level.”
Carragher then asked Neville: “Did Liverpool play well today?”
Neville responded: “They played alright in the second half, no problem, they won the game 7-0. Congratulations.”
Souness added: “You just said they didn’t play very well!”
Neville replied: “My point is, when you get beat 7-0, it becomes about how bad the other team are.
“Manchester United in that second half – Luke Shaw, Varane, Martinez, Dalot, that midfield – they were an absolute shambles.”
Carragher hit back by saying: “You’ve got to give credit to the team that win 7.”
But a prickly Neville replied: “I’ve given you credit James. You’ve won 7-0. Congratulations you’ve got three points, well done.”
Souness then said: “I’ve never heard him call you James before. You’ve got him. You’ve got him.”
Neville replied: “You’ve got your three points and you’re 7-0 and that’s fine. But I still think Liverpool in that first-half were really vulnerable. That was a shaky Liverpool in that first half.”
Souness attempted to dig further, adding: “So you think Man Utd were the better team in the first half?”
