Cates couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Gary Neville
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds ran riot at Anfield as they racked up a record number of goals against their rivals.
The humiliating defeat boosted Liverpool’s top-four hopes while virtually ending United’s title dream.
But it was the post-match action that had tongues wagging.
Pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were at each other’s throats during a brutal clash.

Neville slammed Carragher and fellow ex-Liverpool star Graeme Souness for “gloating like little children” as Cates played the role of moderator.
Neville also argued that 7-0 was a “freak result” following United’s recent success, including victory over Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final, in an attempt to downplay Liverpool’s performance.
And Cates couldn’t resist having a cheeky pop as she signed off the show for the evening.
The daughter of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish bid farewell to viewers saying: “Liverpool sharp off the tee at Anfield this afternoon.

“They’ve beaten Manchester United by seven goals to nil, it’s a record for this fixture.
“Mo Salah is now Liverpool’s record Premier League goalscorer… and they didn’t even play that well! Goodnight.”
Neville attempted to get the final word as the screen cut off, shouting: “And you’re live on Liverpool TV.”
But fans reserved their praise for Cates, with one saying: “Kelly Cates the best in the biz right now. Future main host of BBC Match of the Day right there.”
Another declared: “Kelly Cates once again proving she’s easily the best around right now. Probably the best Sky Sports have ever had. That was Des Lynam-esque in his prime at the end there.”
One noted: “Kelly Cates what a woman, a true professional and still mischievous. Love it!”
Another added: “Fantastic final line! Best sports presenter on TV!”
Meanwhile, Carragher continued his wind-up of Neville today by claiming the ex-Man Utd ace had “cried off” working the Monday Night Football show for Brentford vs Fulham.
It prompted a speedy response for Neville, who told Carragher to “behave” before explaining he was never scheduled for an appearance. More

The 28-year-old was seen heading straight down the tunnel after the humiliating 7-0 defeat to the Reds on Sunday.
Fernandes was also thought to have asked to be subbed during the game, however, he has since denied that was the case.
While there is no immediate risk to his possession of the armband at the moment, the chance for him to be named the next permanent captain have taken a blow.
The Portuguese midfielder has been leading the team on the pitch after Harry Maguire fell out of the starting XI.

The England international is expected to leave the Old Trafford side this summer, meaning that there would be an opening as the club captain.
According to The Daily Mail, Casemiro, Raphael Varane and David De Gea are seen as potential options to take up the role.
Varane displayed his leadership traits against Liverpool.
The French defender could be seen after the game encouraging his team-mates to go over and applaud the fans that had stayed till after the full time whistle at Anfield.

De Gea is one of the longest-serving players at the club, having arrived at the club in 2011 from Atletico Madrid.

The report suggests that the next captain will not be picked based on just popularity.
However, it does say that a popular player could help nurture “a collective team spirit” among the squad.
Paul Scholes defended Fernandes after his performance against Liverpool.
He said: “I actually feel sorry for Fernandes when he’s played.
“He’s been pushed out to many positions to do a job for the team, he was on the left today, he’s been on the right, he’s played through the middle, he has been a little bit all over the place.
“You can’t say any of the players performed the way they should have done but I thought he was especially poor today, it wasn’t his greatest afternoon.” More

‘Let down again’ – Bournemouth broke basic rule to score against Arsenal and goal should NOT have stood, says ex-referee

BOURNEMOUTH broke a basic rule when they netted their nine-second goal against Arsenal. And one former referee insists the strike should NOT have stood in Saturday’s thrilling league fixture.

Several Bournemouth players were already in Arsenal’s half at kick-off
Phillip Billing fired the Cherries ahead at the Emirates straight from kick-off – the second-quickest goal in Premier League history.
The early effort stunned league leaders Arsenal.
And things got worse for them on the hour mark when Bournemouth went 2-0 up.
But the Gunners bravely battled back for 2-2 before Reiss Nelson’s 97th minute winner dramatically secured all three points.

However, things could have panned out differently had Bournemouth not taken the lead.
That’s because several Cherries players were already in Arsenal’s half when they kicked off the game.
And former referee Graham Poll believes Billing’s strike should have been disallowed as a result.
He is adamant VAR should have intervened immediately.

Arsenal are no stranger to controversial calls from the video assistant, with Mikel Arteta lashing out after dropping at points at Brentford last month.
And Poll reckons Bournemouth got away with their early lead because chief official Howard Webb wants to intervene less during games.
He told BettingSites: “VAR once again appeared to let Arsenal down on Saturday as both the ref, Chris Kavanagh, and his colleagues at Stockley Park failed to punish the fact that a number of Bournemouth players were in the opposing half before the kick-off at the start of the match.
“Kavanagh should have seen the encroachment and ordered the kick-off to be retaken long before Bournemouth got into the Arsenal penalty area.
“This happens in a vast number of games but a goal does not follow within 10 seconds and so the offence goes unnoticed and unpunished.
“Had the player who encroached the most, Antoine Semenyo, been the player who scored, there could well have been an intervention by VAR.
“But with Howard Webb now in charge we will only see less technical offences that are missed being corrected.” More

The Dutchman felt they deserved to be leaving Merseyside with the club’s raging supporters after their worst defeat for 91 years.
Ten Hag, 53, made them suffer in silence by insisting they listen to their hated rivals’ celebrations.
And he then tore a strip off them, warning they would all be axed if there was a repeat of a performance which he publicly slammed as “unprofessional” and “unacceptable”.
It comes as SunSport revealed Ten Hag also dished out his own hairdryer treatment to the players.

It is believed that it was the “angriest” the manager has “ever been”.
Ten Hag called the squad into training this morning with an inquest being held into the game.
A United source said: “Obviously ,  the manager was furious after the game and he still was the following morning and has made his feelings clear.
“He and the players are all desperate to reset for Thursday.”

Ten Hag was still raging about the horror show this morning.
He arrived at Carrington HQ at 7am to prepare a debrief, with players arriving two hours later.
They were ordered to put it right — starting on Thursday against Real Betis in the Europa League last-16 first leg at Old Trafford.
Despite United being unlucky to go in 1-0 at the break, they then completely capitulated in the second half.
Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah all netted braces before Roberto Firmino scored the seventh.
The defeat for United has cast a major shadow on what had been a successful week in which they had won the Carabao Cup and advanced to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. More

I’d be a gardener if I didn’t play for Arsenal and England… watching football bores me

BEN WHITE says he would have tried to be the best gardener in the world if he had not gone into football. The England and Arsenal defender is known for not being 24/7 consumed by all aspects of the Beautiful Game.
Ben White admits he’d have been a gardener if he hadn’t become a footballerCredit: AP

Even though he could end up with a Premier League winners’ medal in the coming months – the Gunners are holding off the challenge of Manchester City with 12 matches left – the 25-year-old does not watch matches during his spare time.
Growing up on the Dorset coast in Poole, White admits there was a realistic chance he could have followed the green-fingered route of his dad Barry.
Instead of playing on lovely-manicured pitches each week, he could have been the one mowing them to perfection!
White said: “I’d probably be working with my dad if I wasn’t a footballer. He used to be a gardener.

“I think that’s why there was never any pressure on me growing up, because I would have been very happy with that.
“I went into football but it would have been no problem for me to do what my dad did.
“I never used to watch football much anyway. If it was on when I was a kid, after five minutes I’d get bored of it and go outside to play football.
“I didn’t really watch it, I’d much rather do it. Even now, I don’t watch football really.

“I watch my own clips and my own footage to help me improve but I wouldn’t watch a game for fun.
“I’m obsessed with being the best I can be and being successful and that would have been in anything I did.
“I always want to do the most I can to be a success.
“So, if I had gone into gardening, it would have been the same.
“My profession just happens to also be a lot of people’s hobby. They look forward to every Saturday to watch the game and that’s great.
“But for me it’s about being on the pitches every day, trying to constantly be the best you can be. That’s the bit I really love.
“When I come into the training ground, it’s all about football – 100% focus. Then when I leave, I switch off from it.
“I don’t think my dad has ever said to me: ‘Shall we watch a game on TV?’ He absolutely isn’t interested in that, I don’t think he’s ever watched one on TV.” More

Felix has impressed at Chelsea but has only managed just one Premier League goal in five games.
However, that has not stopped the club from wanting to sign him permanently.
Atletico are likely to demand a high fee for the 23-year-old – who cost them £113million from Benfica in 2019 – after tying him down to a new contract in January.
And, if he is going to stick around, then supporters had better start calling him correctly.

Chelsea face Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League clash on Tuesday.
And ahead of the game the forward revealed how to correctly pronounce his name.
    He said: “It’s Joao Fell-ix.
“Everyone says Fee-lix, even in Spain, only in Portugal they say my correct name.

“I don’t know why. It’s not too hard to spell but it’s Joao Fell-ix, not Fee-lix.”
And when asked if it annoys him, he replied: “No, I don’t care.”
Felix himself recently hinted that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge when his loan deal expires at the end of the campaign.
And his chances of joining Chelsea were boosted following reports that Felix’s Atletico team-mates are “sick to the teeth of him”.
It’s claimed Felix only remains in contact with two players at the club.
Journalist Miguel Martin Talavera told AS TV, via Football Espana: “What is clear is that Joao Felix is going one way and Atletico Madrid are going the other.”
Talavera added: “Right now, Joao Felix is still in contact with two players at Atletico Madrid.
“After four years, Reinildo, who arrived just over a year ago, and Sergio Reguilon, are the ones who he is closest with. With the rest, there is nothing, no friendship.”

Talavera continued: “The reason is, they are sick to the teeth of him. They think he only looks out for himself, for his objectives.
“The things he did harmed the team and harmed the group.” More

The now adult star looked to be on his way to a successful career after impressing legends like Alan Ball and Geoff Hurst.
But a heartbreaking knee injury put an end to his momentum at the tender age of 16 and so he temporarily turned to carpentry to make a living.
But his then a relationship with a Page Three girl resulted in him meeting people from the porn industry which in turn led to a major career switch.
The star in question is none other than Danny Mountain who is now the best-paid British porn star.

Mountain previously said: “I was dating a Page Three girl. Her agent wanted her to get into porn. She wasn’t keen but he gave her the details of an audition in London and I went along.
“I didn’t know what to expect but I was full of confidence. I wasn’t at all nervous about the sexual part. I was worried about talking on camera – I couldn’t control my face I was so nervous.”
Mountain’s parents fully supported him during his football days but weren’t sure how they would feel about his new career.
The ex-Southampton youngster revealed that his mother needed time to accept his new profession whereas his father was totally on board.

Mountain added: “When I told my mum she was a bit shocked. She had the same mentality as a lot of people – she thought it was going to be sleazy. But we had a serious talk about it and after a few months she didn’t worry at all.
“She was worried that I was OK because I was only 19 but I was having a great time and flying all round the world and she realised how happy I was. My dad’s a big kid. When I told him he was like, ‘Go on my son!’.”
Mountain, who married fellow performers Mia Malkova and Eva Angelina, insists he made the right choice as he became one of the best paid porn stars in the world.
He also got to hang out and play football with Hollywood stars like Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham.
Living in LA, Mountain said: “I play football here for Vinnie Jones’s Hollywood Allstars, with Jason Statham against people like Frank Leboeuf.
