Chelsea and Liverpool transfer blow as ‘Rafael Leao’s agent offers AC Milan star to Real Madrid’

CHELSEA and Liverpool target Rafael Leao has reportedly been offered to Real Madrid. And it could see the AC Milan star miss out on a Premier League move this summer.

Gazzetta claims Leao is no closer to extending his San Siro contract, which expires in 2024.
Milan are now gearing up to sell the Portugal ace at the end of the season.
And English sides including Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City are thought to be interested.
However, Leao could end up signing for Real Madrid instead.

It’s believed the forward’s agent, Jorge Mendes, offered Leao to Los Blancos last month.
Initial contact was started with club chiefs, who are making preparations for the eventual exit of 35-year-old Karim Benzema.
But talks are yet to resume despite Real expressing an interest.
Leao is thought to be open to all options, including staying at Milan.

However, he wants to be paid at least £7million each year on his next deal.
Milan have made several offers which have not come near that figure.
And so an exit appears to be the most probably outcome.
Chelsea had been firm favourites for Leao, with Graham Potter even expressing his admiration for the talent before the Blues’ Champions League group stage wins over Milan.
But Todd Boehly instead opted to spend £88million on Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk in January.
Likewise, Liverpool landed Cody Gakpo at the turn of the year and still have Luis Diaz to return from injury.
And that could end up putting City in pole position, with Jack Grealish currently the only option on the left. More

Gary Neville still adamant Arsenal will NOT win the Premier League as Man Utd legend singles out one BIG problem

GARY NEVILLE is sticking to his guns that Arsenal will NOT win the Premier League – and the Manchester United legend has singled out one BIG problem Mikel Arteta must address.Neville, 48, has backed Manchester City to retain their Prem title this season despite Arsenal spending most of this term sitting pretty at the top of the tree.

The Gunners hold a five point advantage over City, but it took an epic comeback to see off bottom-of-the-table Bournemouth.
Mikel Arteta’s men came from two goals down to win 3-2 at the Emirates.
Neville says Arteta needs to find a way to stop his team from conceding goals if they’re to hold on to top spot.
The Man Utd legend said on The Gary Neville podcast: “I thought City had a more difficult game.

“They were more likely to drop points in my mind, if anybody – I didn’t think either team would, to be fair.
“So City did their job and then you expect Arsenal to go and comfortably win.
“The fact that they’ve won in that way gives them that extra spirit and extra momentum, because it is a game you’d expect them to win 2-0 or 3-0 just because Bournemouth are second from bottom.
“But they made it really difficult for themselves.

“They’ve got a real momentum, they’ve got a spirit building, the fans are with them, I would say to them they’ve got to stop conceding goals.
“It sounds like a really simple thing to say but when you concede goals on a run-in it’s really tough and they’ve conceded two against Bournemouth, they’ve conceded against Brentford, they’ve conceded against United, Villa, City.
“They’ve conceded quite a few goals, I think 11 in the last eight games.
“So they just need to manage that a little bit because they’ve got 12 games to go now.
“City still aren’t playing at their fluent best. We’ve got a hell of a title race.”
Neville added: “I made my prediction at the start of the season and I’m not going to change my opinion on Manchester City.”
Four of Arsenal’s next six games come against teams in the bottom half of the table. More

Aaron Ramsey gives Wales huge Euro 2024 boost with midfielder set to return from hamstring injury for Croatia clash

AARON RAMSEY has given Wales a huge Euro 2024 boost with positive news about his hamstring injury.SunSport understands the Nice midfielder is expected to be fit for the opening qualifier against Croatia in Split on March 25.
Aaron Ramsey is now even more important for Wales following Gareth Bales’ retirementCredit: Rex
Ramsey limped off in the Ligue 1 clash with Monaco on February 26 and missed the fixture against Auxerre on Friday – sparking fears he could be out for several weeks.
Nice caretaker boss Didier Digard said: “He’s an important player and there’s just a small lesion, we could be tempted to rush things, but we won’t do that.”
But sources close to the ex-Arsenal and Juventus ace have indicated the 32-year-old should be raring to go in time for the Group D opener in two-and-a-half weeks.
That update of Rambo’s availability will be a big boost to boss Robert Page following the retirement of captain and talisman Gareth Bale as well as key midfield pivot Joe Allen.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Page names his Wales squad in Cardiff next Tuesday as he is set to freshen up his squad in the post-Bale era.
Ramsey, like Page’s side, had a disappointing World Cup which saw Wales exit at the group stage in Qatar following a 1-1 draw with USA and crushing defeats to Iran and England.
Wales face the daunting prospect of taking on tournament semi-finalists Croatia with Luka Modric continuing to turn out for his country at the age of 37.
But reports in Spain claim Real Madrid are not happy the classy midfielder plans to carry on playing international football in the future.

Many pundits expected ex-Tottenham ace Modric, now Croatia’s most capped player with 162 and regarded as the best player ever the country has produced, to retire after the World Cup, where they finished third.
Yet Croatia boss Zlatko Dalić called up Modric on Monday for the qualifiers with Wales and Turkey this month which start the road to the 2024 finals in Germany.
And the Spanish reports say that could pose a problem for Real, who fear burnout and possible injury may affect their hectic schedule at the business end of the season in the race for La Liga and the Champions League. More

Here’s how Man Utd could look next season
Meanwhile, a report from The Athletic suggests club scouts have been watching Tammy Abraham.
The two Englishman would represent an interesting new attacking dynamic for Erik ten Hag next season.
This season the club’s top goalscorer has been Marcus Rashford with 14 Premier League goals.
However, with the potential arrival of both Kane and Abraham that burden would be eased.

And it creates the prospect of a new-look United attack.
Should Ten Hag stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, Abraham may be pushed out wide to allow Kane to operate as the main striker.
But Kane’s ability to drop deep and spray passes could see Rashford and Abraham performing inside-out runs in a similar fashion to Son Heung-min at his best.
The duo could effectively form a front two while Kane drops deeper alongside Bruno Fernandes to help create chances.

Erik ten Hag could adpot a more classic 4-4-2
With United also eyeing Frenkie de Jong, Casemiro’s midfield partner could also be revamped.
Another look at the team could see Ten Hag move to a classic 4-4-2 formation.
This would likely see Antony come in at right-wing, while under-fire Fernandes is not afforded a spot in the starting XI.
A goalkeeper change could also be in the works, with SunSport revealing the Red Devils are interested in Leeds’ Illan Meslier as David De Gea’s future remains uncertain.
Alternatively, a more experimental United formation could see them switch to a back three.
Rashford and Abraham could run the channels with Kane free to roam behind them and pick passes and shots from deeper, while Fernandes partners Casemiro in midfield.
Harry Maguire could then slot into the back three on the right side of defence.
This may allow him to replicate his England form with more freedom to play out and more cover when defending thanks to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.
But before any of this, United will face off against Real Betis in the Europa League looking to bounce from the 7-0 humiliation handed to them by Liverpool.

Gabriel Jesus to travel with Arsenal squad to Sporting Lisbon in huge boost to Arteta after three months out

GABRIEL JESUS is expected to travel to Portugal with the Arsenal squad for their Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon. However, it is very unlikely the Brazilian striker will be involved as he continues his recovery – with his comeback set for after the international break.

Jesus, 25, has not featured for the Gunners since November 12 after suffering a knee injury at the Qatar World Cup that required surgery.
Arsenal have relied heavily on Eddie Nketiah in his absence, but boss Mikel Arteta could soon have his full-strength attacking line-up ready for the title run-in.
Jesus celebrated the north London club’s dramatic 3-2 win over Bournemouth on the sidelines at the Emirates last weekend before taking part in a warm-down session on the pitch.
And SunSport understands Jesus’ progress means he is likely to fly out to Lisbon on Wednesday to take the next step in his rehabilitation.
Arteta will not take any risks with Jesus in their last 16 first leg away to Sporting – instead using this as a chance to re-integrate his star striker further in training sessions.
It is also unlikely Jesus will be in the match day squad to face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
If all goes well, Arsenal potentially see the first game back from the international break as a chance to use him from the bench – the home outing against Leeds on April 1.
Jesus notched five goals and six assists in the Premier League before his injury, and Nketiah initially reacted well to his sudden involvement, scoring four in his first five.

However, the goals have dried up in recent months for the 23-year-old, failing to score in his last six league matches.
Despite this, Arsenal remain five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with 12 games remaining.
In that run-in, the league leaders must travel to Liverpool, Man City and Newcastle, as well as host Chelsea and high-flying Brighton.

Mikel Arteta has overseen a vast improvement at The Emirates thanks in part to the club’s transfer business last summer.
Arrivals such as Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus have had a big impact and Arsenal could look to make other significant additions this summer.
Arteta is believed to be keen on a midfielder having missed out on Brighton’s Moises Caicedo, with Declan Rice said to be top of his wishlist.
The West Ham captain is at the centre of a transfer tussle with Manchester United and Chelsea also interested in the £100million-rated midfielder.

Arsenal also want to add more goals to the side and build their strength in depth up-front following Jesus’ injury.
The Gunners are reportedly leading the race to sign Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen, who revealed it is his dream to play in the Premier League after scoring 19 goals in 21 Serie A games this season.
United are also keen on the striker who could cost around £133m.
Arteta and Edu could also try to sign Romeo Lavia, who has impressed since joining Southampton from Manchester City last summer.

Crystal Palace star man Wilfried Zaha is also of interest and could be snapped up for free with his contract set to expire in the summer.

The Gunners have also been heavily linked with a move for highly-rated Spanish right-back Ivan Fresneda.
He has a release clause of £26.5million in his contract and Real Valladolid hope to spark a bidding war to get close to that amount. More

Spurs are seeking a replacement for Hugo Lloris, 36, who is expected to leave in the summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
And sporting director Fabio Paratici has reportedly enquired about the possibility of signing Szczesny from the Serie A giants.
But according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the ex-Arsenal man has slammed the door shut on a potential move.
He is said to be keen on remaining at Juventus – where he is under contract until 2024 and could see that deal extended by a further year.

Spurs’ interest in Szczesny has caught some by surprise given the former Arsenal man has mocked the Lilywhites in the past.
In 2016, when Tottenham were beaten 5-1 by already-relegated Newcastle on the final day of the Premier League season, he tweeted “Spurs” alongside a crying laughing emoji and a love heart.
Then two years later, when Juventus knocked Spurs out of the Champions League, he tweeted:  “Great win and celebrations versus one of the best teams in North London.
“FORZA JUVE! North London is red.”

When leaving the pitch, he also appeared to perform a “chin up” gesture to the Spurs fans.
Tottenham are keen to sign a new keeper as Lloris approaches the latter stages of his career.
The France No1 is sidelined for at least another month with a knee injury as Fraser Forster assumes the role in between the sticks.
And Szczesny, who has played more than 200 times for Juventus, would have provided the squad with experience of winning silverware.
He has claimed three Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias during his time in Italy.
Gazzetta’s report states he could eventually be open to a move to the MLS towards the end of his career. More
