It comes amid a contract stand-off between Mount and the Blues.
His existing deal is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season and stalling negotiations are expected to leave the club with a decision to make.
Mount is understood to be after a significant pay rise from his current wages of around £80,000 per week.
And he is reluctant to sign a huge long-term deal like compatriot Reece James.

Chelsea’s influx of players has also left Mount pushed down the pecking order.
He has started just one of their last four Premier League games.
And while it remains to be seen whether he will stay or go, rival English clubs have been put on alert by reports of a £50MILLION price tag.
Man Utd are understood to be in for Mount after recognising they are not at the front of the queue when it comes to the pursuit of Jude Bellingham.

Real Madrid and Liverpool are thought to be the frontrunners to sign the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Mount, who has contributed three goals and six assists this season, has emerged as an ideal fit for Ten Hag’s side.

Man Utd are targeting a number of high-profile players in the summer, the biggest of which is Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.
But in order to sign several new stars, Ten Hag is also required to offload unwanted individuals.
They are set to include captain Harry Maguire, forward Anthony Martial and midfielder Scott McTominay. More

Pochettino wants emotional Tottenham return but Levy is rightly wary… it’ll only end in tears if he replaces Conte

AS Tottenham slunk out of the Champions League with an embarrassed shrug, the old flame was burning bright.Fans sang for Mauricio Pochettino and the Argentinian who led Spurs to their only European Cup final certainly wants an emotional return.

Meanwhile one of Poch’s key players, Danny Rose, popped up on Sky Sports to sing the praises of his former boss and criticise chairman Daniel Levy.
In his post-match interviews, after a 0-0 draw with AC Milan sealed a 1-0 aggregate defeat, Antonio Conte was pretty much inviting an early sacking.
The Italian, who has dealt with ill health and grief in recent months, seems in need of an immediate break.
Irrespective of personal traumas, Conte is out of contract this summer, with neither manager nor club keen to extend.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Conte, 53, and Spurs were never a good fit. The Italian is a seasoned title winner who has often spoken as if the Spurs job is beneath him.
He has frequently preached “patience”, yet shown little of that virtue himself.
Does Levy part ways now, knowing Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel are both available?
Or does he allow Conte to limp on until May — and let Spurs scrap it out with Liverpool and Newcastle for the final Champions League spot?

Pochettino wants the job but Levy is wary. And rightly so.
There is much truth in the old warning “never go back”. The beguiling idea the past can be recreated often ends in tears, in football as in life.
Whoever succeeds Conte faces a huge rebuild, almost certainly without Harry Kane, who has carried the club for years.
Pochettino has been chastened by his experiences of the past three years — a spell with the filthy-rich basket-case of Paris Saint-Germain and a failure to land either  the Real Madrid or  Manchester United jobs.
It is difficult to gauge what constitutes success at Spurs. We all point to 15 years without silverware but, in the last 30 years, Juande Ramos and George  Graham are the only Spurs bosses to win trophies, both League Cups, and nobody saw them as successful.
Under Poch, Spurs were Champions League and Premier League runners-up, plus finished ‘third in a two-horse race’ as Leicester won the 2015-16 title.
Despite the ‘oh so nears’, fans were consistently entertained. There was hope and joy — but that was a certain time.
Kane was emerging as a world-class player, Dele Alli was promising to join him. Rose, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier were England’s three best full-backs.
Hugo Lloris was at his peak, like Belgian central defenders Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
    POCH’S BUILDING BLOCKS
Pochettino moulded it — a demanding workaholic with a largely youthful team open to his methods. But is there any such core of players at Spurs now?
On Sky, Rose claimed the success rate of Spurs’ signings has been criticised, adding when he made a similar point — in an interview with this newspaper in 2017 — he was fined two weeks’ wages.
Despite their superb new stadium, Spurs have regressed.
Five months after losing the 2019 Champions League final  Poch was gone — and it was   a mutual parting of the ways. The Argentine sounded as frustrated with Levy as Conte does now and Jose Mourinho did in-between.
Rose gave excellent insight into Pochettino’s methods — how he was ahead of his time videoing training sessions, leaving “no hiding place”.
But perhaps what Spurs need now is not Pochettino but a version of what Pochettino was when they hired him in 2014 — young, hungry and willing to accept the club’s financial limitations.
Tuchel is not banging the door down to go to Spurs and Levy can’t keep recycling old Chelsea bosses, after Andre Villas-Boas, Mourinho and Conte.
Fulham’s Marco Silva, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Steve Cooper of Nottingham Forest have been linked.
Many Spurs fans with delusions of grandeur might sneer at them, but where have celebrity bosses like Mourinho or Conte got them?

Tottenham facing battle to persuade Thomas Tuchel to become new manager – despite ex-Chelsea boss being Spurs fan

It is now a matter of when, not if, Conte departs after a week from hell in which  the club crashed out of both the FA Cup and Champions League.
His deal expires in the summer and Spurs will NOT extend it.
Chairman Daniel Levy is understood to have reservations about bringing back fans’ favourite Pochettino.
But if he plumps for Tuchel, he needs to convince the German coach he can give him the tools to make Tottenham serious trophy challengers.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund boss insists he was a Spurs fan growing up and was fascinated by their “adventurous” Tottenham Hotspur name.
He is thought to be keen on a return to England.
But having managed Paris Saint-Germain to a Champions League final in 2020, before winning the competition a year later with Chelsea, Tuchel has been waiting for a vacancy at an elite club.
However, some fans may object to the prospect of a FIFTH ex-Blues boss being hired by Levy, who has previously appointed Glenn Hoddle, Andre Villas-Boas, Jose Mourinho and Conte.
A return for Poch would be a crowd-pleaser, given how loved he was   in five years in charge of Spurs.
The Argentine took them to the 2019 Champions League final and his name was chanted by supporters during Wednesday’s 0-0 last-16 second leg draw with Milan, which sent the Italian giants through 1-0 on aggregate.
Others in the frame for Conte’s job include ex- Spain and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, Brighton chief Roberto De Zerbi  and Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner.
The situation is further complicated by the club awaiting the fate of director of football Fabio Paratici, who has a big say  on managerial appointments.

Paratici is set to discover within a month if his appeal against  a 2½-year ban from Italian  football is successful.

Man Utd player ratings: Bruno Fernandes redeems himself after Liverpool horror show but David de Gea is too sloppy

MANCHESTER UNITED bounced back from their Liverpool humiliation with a brilliant 4-1 win over Real Betis in the Europa League.Despite their Anfield mauling, boss Erik ten Hag opted to field an unchanged starting XI for the visit of the LaLiga side to Old Trafford.
Man United got themselves back on trackCredit: Getty
And redeem themselves they did; with goals by Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes and even Wout Weghorst seeing off Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
SunSport’s Martin Blackburn rates and slates each Man United performer on the day.
    David de Gea – 5
Could not get his kicking right in the first half and it almost cost United dear on a couple of occasions. Otherwise it was a quiet night as Betis scored with their only effort on target.
    Diogo Dalot – 5
Looked uncertain for much of the first half up against the lively Juanmi and did not reappear for the second half as Wan-Bissaka was on instead. The full-back has had a difficult week.

    Raphael Varane – 7
Decent battle with on-loan Leicester man Ayoze Perez but the French ace was assured for most of the night. Picking him and Martinez was a real show of support from Ten Hag and they did not let the boss down.
    Lisandro Martinez – 7
After a testing day at Anfield on Sunday, this was just what he needed. Looked a class act and was rarely ruffled. Enjoyed himself when the home side got their noses in front in the second half.
    Luke Shaw – 7
Great low cross for Weghorst. Managed to get something on Ayoze’s deflected effort to turn it onto the post in first half stoppage time. Supplied the corner for Fernandes to head home number three.
    Casemiro – 7
Showed his quality with a cross early on which Weghorst should have converted. A few uncharacteristic mis-placed passes like at Anfield but had a hand in Antony’s goal which helped United re-take the lead.

    Fred – 6
Seems to link up well with his countryman Casemiro in the middle. Helped United keep control of the game apart from a spell at the end of the first half. Had one late chance after some nice work by Sancho but his shot was weak.
    Antony – 7
Much more like it from the Brazilian who sent over some dangerous crosses then curled a beauty to restore United’s lead. Had a chance to kill the tie but chipped his effort onto the roof of the net. If only he could use his right foot.
    Bruno Fernandes – 8
Retained the armband and repaid his manager’s faith with a much improved display. Had a hand in the first two goals and then thumped a header home for number three. Rightly yellow carded for poor challenge on Bravo.
Bruno Fernandes bounced back from his Anfield horror showCredit: EPA
    Wout Weghorst – 7
Chested in an early goal but denied by the offside flag – typical of the way his luck is going. Missed a couple of other golden chances and it looked like another of those nights – until he swept home a loose ball late on to FINALLY get his goal.
    Marcus Rashford – 7
Hammered in a superb opener to make it 26 for his excellent season and give United a perfect start. Denied on a couple of other occasions before being given a rest midway through the second half.
    Substitutes
    Aaron Wan-Bissaka (for Dalot, 46)
Home side much better after his introduction.
    Tyrell Malacia (for Shaw, 65)
Slotted in at left-back for the final quarter.
Jadon Sancho – (for Rashford, 65)
Some nice touches as United pushed to finish the tie on the night.
    Scott McTominay (for Fred, 82)
His shot was saved but led to the goal that Weghorst swept home.
    Facundo Pellistri (for Antony, 82)

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were jumping around like a couple of fans – what happened to objective punditry?

GARY NEVILLE was presumably trying to be funny when he signed off Sky’s ‘Super Sunday’ show with the words: “You were live on Liverpool TV.”But his comments weren’t completely wide of the mark after another afternoon of pundit ‘bantz’ from the Premier League’s leading broadcaster.
SunSport’s Mark Irwin isn’t impressed with Neville and Carragher’s fanboy anticsCredit: PA
Neville had a face like a slapped arse after watching his beloved Manchester United being ripped a new one at Anfield.
And he made no attempt to hide his displeasure at their 7-0 defeat by the bitter rivals from the other end of the East Lancs Road.
On the other side of the microphone, we had Jamie Carragher whooping and cheering every Liverpool goal live on air.
During the post-match inquest they had Carragher grinning away with fellow Kop idol Graeme Souness while Neville sulked alongside professional United grinch Roy Keane.

Now I have no problem with these former players having their loyalties forged over many years in a certain team’s colours.
But there comes a point where favouritism becomes outright bias and we’re very close to crossing that particular bridge.
And it’s not as if Neville and Carragher are the only culprits.

Match of the Day regularly films Ian Wright and Alan Shearer celebrating Arsenal and Newcastle goals like mad things while Rio Ferdinand is equally vociferous in his support for United.
And it seems that many viewers actually lap this stuff up.
Nevertheless, it does beg the question whatever happened to objective football coverage?
There used to be a time when Scottish sports writers were dismissed as ‘fans with typewriters’ because of their unwavering support for their national team.
But now it appears that correspondents throughout the whole of Britain are actively encouraged to display their colours and are criticised for not being partisan enough.
Now I know that I am a miserable bastard who is no-one’s idea of a ray of sunshine.
But almost every time I write a match report for this paper I get taken to task by certain readers who complain that I have not been positive enough about their team.
Well I’m sorry that I missed the memo that I’m now required to be a cheerleader and I’m still awaiting delivery of my spangly costume and pompoms.
But judging by the number of scarves and club colours we’re now seeing in press boxes up and down the country, maybe I’m the one who is behind the times.
Because there is a new breed of football reporter who happily admits that they are only interested in one team and couldn’t care less about anything else that is going on in the sport.
And I understand that these guys connect with a lot of fans because they are every bit as fanatical as them.
Yet we have now reached the point where post match press conferences are carried out in front of more tourists than Madame Tussauds.
Many of them don’t even bother with the pretence of bringing a laptop, camera or notepad because all they’re interested in is the free pre-match meal and a nice comfy seat to cheer on their team.
And the clubs don’t care less because they’d much rather open their doors to unquestioning loyalists than to grumpy old sods like me.
So forgive me if I don’t get offended by Gary Lineker showing his political colours.
It’s his sporting neutrality which I’m worried about.
    A right old Mess

ANOTHER year, another early Champions League exit for Paris St.Germain.
The flat track bullies of European football are strolling untroubled towards their ninth French League title in 11 years.
Yet in spite of all the insane spending by their Qatari owners, they still cannot buy a win in the game’s most prestigious club competition.
Maybe it’s because they have gathered more stars than the Milky Way that we all take such pleasure from their annual humiliation.
And the fact that Messi and his chums have been sent packing by former Stoke and PSG cast-off Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting only adds to the comedy value this time.
But we really shouldn’t laugh too loudly at this in-Seine farce.
Because here in England we have our very own perennial Champions who have still never lifted the European Cup in spite of squeezing FFP until the pips squeak.
So it’s probably best that we wait to see how Manchester City get on against RB Leipzig next week before we start gloating at Les Flops.

SERIAL winner Lewis Hamilton knew before the first Grand Prix of the season had even got underway that he had no chance of winning the championship.
Now he knows how Harry Kane feels at Tottenham.
But after more than a decade dominating Formula One, Hamilton is entitled to feel downhearted by the car which Mercedes have served up again this year.
Team-mate George Russell was equally despondent after reigning champion Max Verstappen led from start to finish in Bahrain last weekend.
“Red Bull have got this Championship sewn up,” he gloomily predicted. “My bet is that they will win every single race.”
Now that might be good news for Verstappen and his team boss Christian Horner.
But the lack of competition can’t be good for Formula One because no-one wants to watch a procession.
And even the most obsessive petrol heads will soon lose interest if the highlight of the race is the pit stop.

APPARENTLY Manchester United are looking to sign the Anfield pitch invader who slid into Andy Robertson on Sunday because he managed to get closer to the Liverpool players than anyone from Erik ten Hag’s team.
In the aftermath of that 7-0 humiliation, Wout Weghorst has been getting dog’s abuse from irate United fans for touching the ‘This Is Anfield’ sign ahead of the match.

A club spokesman said: “The Club is disgusted by the contents of the video and acted swiftly to identify the offenders.
“In line with our zero-tolerance approach, details of the offenders were immediately passed on to the police and all individuals had their Season Tickets suspended and are therefore unable to enter London Stadium and travel with the Club for away fixtures.
“Pending our own club investigation, this could lead to the offenders being banned indefinitely. There is no place for this kind of behaviour.”
Met Police have been contacted for comment.
In 2021, The Sun revealed football thugs high on cocaine were fuelling a terrifying surge in violence at stadiums.
As a result, police chiefs called for tougher punishments for cocaine users at grounds — including more use of bans — to prevent a return of the hooliganism seen in the 1980s.
Britain’s top football cop, Chief Constable Mark Roberts, warned that more fans than ever were taking the drug at games, creating a “toxic mix” of violence.
He said: “As we see more violent incidents, cocaine is one of those factors along with alcohol that will make it worse, and make people more violent.”
One supporter also said cocaine at football was so rife that fans snort it in their seats.
That same year, a FA report said cocaine was the catalyst for thousands of ticketless fans storming Wembley for the England-Italy Euro final.
Fans were openly snorting the drug at the showpiece event, with one yob bragging how he put a lit flare in his bum during a 15-hour drug-fuelled bender.
Charlie Perry, 25, boasted how he had “banged a load of powder” during the big day and was then filmed firing off the flare in footage that went viral.
Just before the pandemic, cocaine binges were blamed for a 45 per cent increase in trouble at football grounds over the previous two years — including violence, pitch invasions and assaults on players.
One survey revealed that more than 30 per cent of fans had witnessed cocaine being taken inside a stadium — with six per cent admitting to personal use.
However, drug possession or use was reported at only 103 of 2,663 regulated matches in England and Wales over the entire 2019-20 season, with the vast majority — 81 per cent — involving cocaine.
Despite clubs promising tougher measures on stopping drugs being brought into grounds, one fan claimed cocaine usage was rife before and during games.
The supporter, who does not want to be named, said: “You see huge queues in the toilets, you see them doing bumps off keys in the stands, or just off their hands.
    “It’s everywhere.
“I’ve never known it like this before, and it just feels like it’s getting worse and worse.”
Another Premier League club said they use dogs outside away turnstiles for every game and on occasions outside home turnstiles.
Bosses at Tottenham Hotspur described the drug issue as a “societal problem” and that it took a zero-tolerance approach to drugs in the stadium.
The club, where a fan was photographed appearing to snort a line of cocaine on the pitch in 2017, also said it works closely with the Metropolitan Police on drug-related issues, and anyone found with illegal substances are banned.
Meanwhile, bosses at Brighton and Hove Albion said it was “increasingly concerned” about the use of cocaine at matches.
The club added: “We will continue to take all necessary and possible steps to prevent any illegal substance coming into our stadium, and we will continue to impose very severe sanctions on anyone found to be carrying or using any illegal substance in or around our stadium.”
The Premier League said it also condemned the use of drugs at stadiums and its clubs are working alongside police to tackle the problem.
A spokesman said: “Possession or use of cocaine is a criminal offence and can result in a football banning order.

Man Utd were FORTUNATE to only lose 7-0 against Liverpool as referee blunder is revealed

And while Fifa refs’ chief Pierluigi Collina understood the decision he said: “There should have been more time.
“I can understand that giving the right amount of additional time when it is 7-0 is difficult to understand in this specific match.
“But if the regulations of the competition say that goal difference is relevant for the ranking at the end, even one goal scored or not scored can make the difference.”
Prem chiefs will be ordered to ensure extra additional time is added in matches next season.

But the World Cup-style approach, which saw a staggering 27 minutes added to England’s opener against Iran, does not have to be followed.

“They should also add on some time for free-kicks, goal kicks and corners, although we are looking at getting nearer 60 minutes of actual playing time, not 90.”
