Speaking after the match, however, the England winger wanted to heap praise on former forgotten man Rob Holding.
Saka, 21, told Arsenal club media: “I gave him a big hug when he came into the changing room because he deserves it.
“He was magnificent. We need that, you know, when he’s coming in to stay at the level that we’ve been playing.
“He was unbelievable today, so credit to him.”

Boss Mikel Arteta was similarly effusive in his praise of Holding, who had played just 17 minutes of Prem football prior to starting yesterday.
He said: “It’s not a secret, if we want to maintain that level, everyone has to step in, give more.
“Rob is a great example of what we needed today.”
Arteta, 40, also pointed to the injuries his side have contended with this season – in a dig at Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman enraged Arsenal fans last week by suggesting that they haven’t had to survive the volume of injuries that his side have.
Arteta told Sky Sports: “We had to respond and we talked about having players out all season.
“Gabriel Jesus was out for four months, Emile Smith Rowe out for four and a half months, Kiernan Tierney, Thomas Partey, Eddie Nketiah out for two and a half months, now William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
“We overcome those situations, Rob came in and was brilliant today.
“Everyone has to give another edge to be at the same level, it’s not a secret.
“There are moments we have 14, 15 players but everyone is willing to play and put their bodies on the line and I am happy that our players are happy to do that.
“To be at the top you have to do that at all times.”

But while Mikel Arteta and his team continue to chase the domestic title, club chiefs are already putting plans in place for the summer.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal will face the MLS All-Stars in a pre-season friendly ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
The match is set to take place on July 19 at Audi Field in Washington D.C.

But, the annual event was cancelled in 2020 when the world was sent into lockdown as a result of the pandemic.

But with everything now back to normal, this summer will mark the return of Europe’s elite.

Bruno Fernandes becomes first Dream Team midfielder to reach 200 points – yet he’s half as popular as Kevin De Bruyne

RARELY have a team capitulated in such a short space of time as Fulham did at Old Trafford on Sunday. The visitors were leading with a quarter of the game still to play when Willian (£3.2m) was sent off for a handball on the line.
Amid the VAR deliberations, Marco Silva was shown a red card for his complaints before Aleksandar Mitrovic (£3.8m) was dismissed for a brainless shove on referee Chris Kavanagh, making it a trio of reds in a mad minute that ultimately cost the Cottagers a place in the FA Cup semi-final.
Erik ten Hag’s side rallied to win 3-1 with Bruno Fernandes (£6.2m) being the main beneficiary from a Dream Team perspective.
The Portugal international converted the resulting penalty from said handball, added the cherry on top with a thumping stoppage-time strike, and claimed the Star Man award to bank 18 points when all was said and done.
    A monumental head lossCredit: GETTY
And so it proved to be the 28-year-old’s biggest single-game haul of the campaign so far, one that moved him onto 200 points overall.
Fernandes is the first midfielder to become a double centurion this term with his closest rival, Kevin De Bruyne (£7.6m), now 20 points adrift.
Manchester United’s No8 has been on a tear of late, registering 80 points across the last seven Game Weeks.
What’s really interesting is that Dream Team gaffers still prefer the aforementioned De Bruyne by a considerable degree.
The Belgian playmaker is over twice as popular as Fernandes, as is Bukayo Saka (£5.3m).
    Most read in Dream Team
Phil Foden (£5m) and Martin Odegaard (£3.7m) also feature in more teams than the game’s leading midfielder, whose ownership reads 19.4% currently.
The Arsenal and Manchester City assets remain excellent options of course but it feels as if Fernandes’ supremacy isn’t being properly recognised.
    Dream Team’s top midfielderCredit: GETTY
Not only that, it’s a great time to back Man United assets more generally as the Red Devils remain in contention for the FA Cup and Europa League having already lifted the Carabao Cup.
These extracurricular pursuits will ensure the Old Trafford residents are among the busiest set of players for the remainder of the campaign – more fixtures equals more points.
Marcus Rashford (£6.7m), David de Gea (£3.9m) and Luke Shaw (£4.4m) are all superb options and Fernandes deserves to be mentioned in the same breath.
The latter may be prone to the odd meltdown when things aren’t going his way but his talent can’t be denied.
He has ten goals and 12 assists to his name in all competitions and no player has earned more 7+ ratings at this stage of the season.
Fernandes has TEN fixtures scheduled for April once the international break is complete! More

Man Utd join Liverpool in transfer chase for 6ft 4in Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen to fight De Gea for No1 spot

The Spanish stopper, 32, joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
But his deal expires at the end of the season.
And Erik ten Hag is yet to decide if De Gea should continue between the sticks as he looks to create a new dynasty at Old Trafford.
Talks remain ongoing over a new contract with a reduced wage.

But in the meantime, HLN claims United are now weighing up a bid for Anderlecht’s 6ft 4in gloveman Verbruggen.
The 20-year-old has made quite an impression in Belgian football after being handed his debut two years ago.
And Verbruggen is now set for his international bow after being called up for Holland’s Euro qualifiers against France and Gibraltar.
SunSport exclusively revealed Liverpool’s interest last month.

And Vincent Kompany is still keeping tabs after trying to sign Verbruggen for Burnley last summer.
United are now considering a swoop, even if De Gea ends up penning an extension.

But Anderlecht are unlikely to sell for less than £8.5million.
Verbruggen himself is remaining tight-lipped over his future, saying: “Will I still play here next season? That’s a very direct question.
“I’m now really into that yet, June is so far away. I want to keep performing with Anderlecht first, I am happy at this club.”
Former Spurs star and now Anderlecht captain Jan Vertonghen reckons Verbruggen can be the best in the world.
He added: “For me, he has the potential to become one of the best goalies if you see where he is now.
“I have rarely seen such a personality at that age, modest but very driven and ambitious.
“If I’m a top European club and have the money to spend, I wouldn’t hesitate.” More

Arsenal interested in Sacha Boey transfer with Mikel Arteta keen on Galatasaray’s 22-year-old full-back as cover

ARSENAL are reportedly lining up a summer bid for Galatasaray star Sacha Boey. That’s as Mikel Arteta looks to bulk up his squad with more options for cover.

The Gunners boss has led his side to the brink of a first Premier League title since 2004.
And Sunday’s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace saw Arsenal pull seven points clear of Man City at the top of the table.
However, the Londoners were unable to maintain their charge in the Europa League last week.
And Arteta wants more top-quality options so Arsenal can push hard in all competitions next season.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
Defence is an area he wants to strengthen after seeing William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu limp off in Thursday’s defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
And Aksam claims Gala right-back Boey is at the top of Arteta’s shopping list.
The French ace, 22, has been playing in Turkey for over 18 months after previously starring at Rennes and Dijon.
Like January signing Jakub Kiwior, he is rated as a top future prospect while also having already gained plenty of first-team minutes.

Liverpool were linked with a January move for Boey, while Lyon had a £7million bid recently turned down.
The star is tied down to Gala until 2025, and they will want at least £10m this summer.
Boey’s arrival could see Tomiyasu switch flanks to become second choice at left-back.
And that could see Kieran Tierney sweat over his Emirates future after another injury-plagued campaign.
Versatile Tomiyasu can also play at centre-back, which may yet raise doubts over Rob Holding’s place. More

According to De Telegraaf, four young and “drunk” men “cornered” Ajax chief executive Van der Sar and his family at the car park.
Security guards intervened and chucked all those fans out of the stadium.
The same report suggests the four supporters confronted the legendary goalkeeper because of his reported intention to reinstate disgraced Arsenal legend Marc Overmars to Ajax’s hierarchy.
Overmars quit his role as director of football last year after his history of sexual misconduct came to light.

The former Netherlands international apologised and resigned after allegedly sending inappropriate messages to female colleagues.
Ajax went on to lose to Feyenoord in the derby, which piled on the home side’s woes this season.
The visitors opened the scoring after just five minutes with Santiago Gimenez.
But Ajax turned the game on its head with Edson Alvarez’s equaliser on 17 minutes and Dusan Tadic’s goal 20 minutes later.

But Feyenoord levelled things up in the 52nd minute with Sebastian Szymanski.
And Arne Slot’s side picked up the major victory with Lutsharel Geertruida winner just four minutes before full-time.
Ajax are now six points behind high-fliers Feyenoord and the top of the table.
The reigning Eredivisie champions remain second amid a turbulent campaign that saw them sack former manager Alfred Schreuder just a few months after he replaced United boss Erik ten Hag at the helm.
Everton cult hero John Heitinga stepped in to take Schreuder’s place as interim boss until the end of the season. More
