But SunSport understands owner Todd Boehly is preparing for a long and thorough search for a new boss after seeing his first appointment flop inside seven months.
The Blues sacked Graham Potter after just seven months in charge and £330million spent in the January transfer window on Sunday.
Potter was hired on a five-year deal worth £12m-a-year after Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel was axed following a poor start to the season.
Chelsea backed the former Brighton boss with £330million in the January transfer window, taking their spend this season above £600m.

However, Potter has been unable to turn the club’s Chelsea’s fortunes around with the Blues sliding to 11th in the top-flight after their 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.
Bruno Saltor will take charge of the West Londoners until a permanent successor for Potter is appointed.
And it is understood Bruno could stay in charge as interim head coach for the rest of the campaign.
Boehly and the rest of Chelsea’s top brass have accepted that they are unlikely to qualify for next season’s Champions League via a top four finish – although they are preparing to face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals next week.

Therefore they are prepared to wait and launch an extensive search for a new man to take charge and lead them long-term.
German coach Nagelsmann, who was surprisingly sacked by Bayern Munich last month and replaced by Tuchel, is the early bookies favourite for the job.
The 35-year-old arrived at Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021 and won the league by eight points in his first season in charge as well as leading them to back-to-back German Supercup wins.
Reports have also claimed that new Chelsea technical director Christian Vivell is “pushing” for him to take charge.
Former Spurs and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is another favourite with the bookies and remains a free agent having been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain in June 2022 despite leading them to the French title.
Other candidates include former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, former Spain manager Luis Enrique, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Oliver Glasner, and even two-time former Blues boss Jose Mourinho, who is now at Roma.
Potter, 47, leaves Chelsea with the WORST record of any Blues manager in the Premier League era, being dismissed after a horror run.
The former Brighton boss leaves Stamford Bridge with the worst points-per-game record of Blues bosses who have managed more than 20 games – picking up an average of 1.27 points per game.
Potter won seven of his 22 league matches in charge of the club, drew seven and lost eight.
That translated to the Blues collecting a mere 28 points from an available 66.

Potter was in charge of Chelsea for a total of 31 games, in which he won 12, drew eight and lost eleven matches.

Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers are the first Prem bosses sacked on same day since 2015… and it’s deja vu for one

SUNDAY marked the first time in eight years that TWO Premier League managers lost their jobs on the same day – and remarkably Brendan Rodgers was involved in both.Leicester sacked Rodgers after the club slipped into the relegation zone.

The Foxes were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace on Saturday and decided to axe Rodgers in a bid to beat the drop.
Rodgers, 50, became the twelfth Premier League manager to be relieved of their duties in the 2022-23 campaign.
He arrived at Leicester from Celtic in February 2019 and led them to both the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2021.
Rodgers also guided Leicester to the Europa Conference League semi-finals last term but a miserable run of form this season has led to the Foxes pulling the trigger.

The club made their announcement earlier this afternoon – but there was further misery in store for another top-flight manager.
Chelsea announced tonight that Graham Potter had been sacked after just six months in charge.
Potter was hired on a five-year deal worth £12m-a-year after Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel was axed following a poor start to the season.
However, ex-Brighton boss Potter has been unable to turn the club’s fortunes around with the Blues sliding to 11th in the top-flight after their 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.

And the Blues announced that they had fired the 47-year-old on Sunday evening after holding crunch talks with club chiefs earlier at Cobham.
Rodgers and Potter are the first Premier League managers to lose their job on the same day mid-season since 4 October, 2015.
Amazingly, Rodgers had been sacked on that day too by Liverpool while Dick Advocaat resigned from Sunderland.
The Reds got rid of Rodgers, who had led them to a second-placed finish in 2014, after three and a half years in charge after dropping down to tenth in the table.
Dutchman Advocaat kept Sunderland up the year prior and was declared a hero on Wearside but he walked away after failing to pick up a top-flight win in the first two months of the following campaign.
Potter leaves Chelsea with the WORST record of any Blues manager in the Premier League era, being dismissed after a horror run.

That translated to the Blues collecting a mere 28 points from an available 66.

Luke Shaw says Man Utd flops ‘had it coming’ as he and boss Ten Hag admits Newcastle wanted it more after shambolic loss

LUKE SHAW and Erik Ten Hag have given cutting and honest reviews of Manchester United’s shortcomings following their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle. The Red Devil’s were dismantled by Eddie Howe’s side as they dropped below the Magpies into fourth spot.
Luke Shaw and Manchester United were dealt a hammer blow to their top four hopes by Newcastle
Erik ten Hag and Eddie Howe clashed during the game
Shaw pointed towards a lack of passion and hunger for the reasons that United went home without any points.
He said to Sky Sports: “I think as a team we have to be honest. I do think Newcastle are a very good side, but I don’t think they won the game on quality today.
“I think they won it on passion, hunger, desire, attitude and they clearly had a higher motivation that we have and that can’t be possible.
“I feel like I say the same things every time we lose and like I said, it’s not acceptable and we know that.

“It was a massive game today and they wanted it more, at Man United that cannot be possible”
The clash saw Callum Wilson and Joe Willock on the scoresheet for Newcastle, while United only managed one shot on target.
United boss Ten Hag also gave a scathing summary of why his team was unable to compete.
He told Sky Sports: “I hate to say it but they were better today – especially their determination, passion and desire. They wanted to win more so they won.

“We had our opportunities but then you have to go for goal with the determination they did. It wasn’t good enough. We allowed them too many chances. You have to be hungry and give everything every game.
“Our attacking game wasn’t good enough. I don’t want to focus on one person. It was a team performance.”
It was a bad day all around for the Manchester side as players clashed when leaving the pitch.
Tempers were high throughout the match too with Lisandro Martinez slapping the bench after he was substituted by the manager.
Ten Hag’s side will have to bounce back as they welcome Brentford to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The United boss seems confident they can come back from the poor display.
He said: “We have to deal with the setback and learn a lesson. So many times recently, we came back after Liverpool. I don’t have that concern. I believe in the team. I believe we’ll bounce back.” More

It is now back to the drawing board for American billionaire Boehly, who is set to take his time to weigh up his options for Potter’s replacement.
    Most read in Football
Here, SunSport runs down seven options, including some familiar faces.
    Julian Nagelsmann
The German is without a job having been surprisingly sacked by Bayern Munich and replaced by ex-Blues boss Tuchel.
Nagelsmann made his name at RB Leipzig and was hired by Bayern after Hansi Flick left to take over at Germany.
The young manager won the Bundesliga last season but was sacked this month due to off-field dillemas.
Nagelsmann is a frontrunner to take over at Chelsea, with the Stamford Bridge board said to be admirers.

    Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino is still a free agent having left PSG last year, despite winning the league title in France.
The Argentine was linked with the Chelsea job after Tuchel’s sacking and was believed to be interested in a return to London.
Although after Antonio Conte’s exit from Tottenham, Pochettino may prefer a move back to the north of the capital.
It means Boehly could be forced to act fast if he prefers to make a move for Pochettino.

    Oliver Glasner
Glasner took Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League glory in 2022 and has been on the Premier League clubs’ radar since.
And Chelsea are believed to be among those to rate the Austrian, reportedly shortlisting him as a Potter replacement as early as January.
But again, they face competition with Spurs, who have made contact with Glasner to fill the void left by Conte.
Despite Glasner’s promise, he has less experience in the top flight as other options on the table for Chelsea.

    Brendan Rodgers
The Northern Irishman spent two years at Chelsea managing their reserves from 2006-2008 and has long been linked with taking over at Stamford Bridge.
Rodgers has now been sacked by Leicester with the Foxes second from bottom and in a real relegation scrap.
It leaves the former Celtic manager – who won two Premiership titles in Scotland – back on the managerial market.
But despite his experience in English football, Rodgers has endured a horror run in recent times.

    Jose Mourinho
Mourinho is a legend at Chelsea following his two stints, where he won three league titles.
He is now at Roma, chasing Champions League qualification in his second season in Italy.
Mourinho is understood to have been open to a THIRD Chelsea spell in the past.
But his time at Manchester United and Spurs may have caused friction with fans while he has voiced his content at Roma in the past.

    Zinedine Zidane
The Frenchman was linked with Chelsea before Frank Lampard’s hiring in 2019 and when the Blues icon was sacked in 2021.
Zidane has had two stints managing Real Madrid, winning three Champions League trophies and two LaLiga titles.
But after leaving once more two years ago, the 1998 World Cup winner is yet to take up another role.
It has been suggested in the past that Zidane is holding out for the France role, despite FFF chief Le Graet ruling it out in the past.

    Luis Enrique
Enrique won two LaLiga titles and a Champions League trophy during his three years with Barca.
But he turned to international management, having two runs at the Spain job.
But following elimination in the round of 16 during the winter World Cup, Enrique left his post.
