Luke Shaw is petulant and can’t be trusted while lacking maturity, slams Man Utd legend Paul Parker

LUKE SHAW is “petulant” and “can’t be trusted” – claims former Manchester United star Paul Parker. The left-back signed a new four-year contract this morning, committing his future to Old Trafford until 2027.

Parker isn’t thrilled, however, as he reckons that Shaw can’t be relied on to be mature when the chips are down.
Sharing his reservations with BonusCodeBets, Parker said: “When Man United are struggling and the results have not gone their way, Shaw has reacted by being petulant and his performances have been very disappointing.
“We are talking about a player who is England’s left full-back so you would expect mature performances and a mature behaviour but you are not getting that from him.
“When I’m watching him I get this playground feeling.

“He feels like he is the best player on the team and if it’s not going his way he wants to pick up the ball and go home.
“That’s the way he is and he ends up kicking people.
“Against Liverpool he tried to get a red card in the last 15 minutes. He wanted to get sent off and I got the same feeling against Newcastle.
“If we were going to judge him right now we would ask ourselves the question, what is he doing as England’s left full-back?

“Because you can’t trust him when things aren’t going his way.”
Parker, who played 136 times for United between 1991 and 1996, then added: “Shaw has played a lot of games in the Premier League and a lot of games for his country.
“Way more games than I did, so you would expect more from him but he is not a leader. It is a huge weakness in his game.”
“For me it seems like he wants to put his team in jeopardy by the way he conducts himself. You should want to die for Man United and it makes me think that he is not a player that should play for Man United, when he is not acting like that.”
Shaw, 27, spoke of his excitement at the opportunity to “create something special” under Erik ten Hag after penning his new deal.
But Parker, 59, believes that he should be dropped for Tyrell Malacia.
He went on: “Malacia does need games now. He does need the opportunity to get himself going at the end of the season.
“He has performed decently in the first season so he deserves to get a run.

“Erik ten Hag might take Shaw out of the team to give Malacia a chance but he could also play Shaw as a centre-half because he seems more comfortable and calm there.
“The only problem is that you can´t put (Lisandro) Martinez on the bench because he is the only one who is performing week in and day out for this Man United team.”

Liverpool legend Divock Origi wanted in four-way Prem transfer return fight as Aston Villa lead race for AC Milan ace

Belgian striker Origi has started just six Serie A games this season.
And Italian outlet Calciomercato claim there are FOUR Prem clubs “ready to knock” on AC Milan’s door in the hope of signing Origi.
Aston Villa, Leeds, Crystal Palace and West Ham are all rumoured to be keen on the 27-year-old.
Elsewhere, Origi has been linked with Turkish side Galatasaray.

But Calciomercato say Origi would “welcome” a return to the Prem over a move to Turkey.
Everton have also been mentioned, but it’s claimed Origi’s ties to Liverpool are too strong for a switch to Goodison Park.
Origi played 175 times for the Reds, winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup during his time at Anfield.
He moved on last summer in order to pursue more regular first team football at AC Milan.

However, Origi finds himself behind Olivier Giroud and the returning Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the San Siro pecking order.
And AC Milan are said to be open to letting Origi leave in the summer to save on his wages and make room for another addition up front.
Back in January reports emerged that the club were already looking to move Origi on.
Origi has scored two goals in 26 games in all competitions for AC Milan this season, but just six of those appearances have been from the start. More

Harry Winks set for transfer uncertainty and heading back to Tottenham with skint Sampdoria unable to afford on-loan ace

He missed the first half of the season with an ankle problem but has been a regular since returning in January.
There was no obligation to buy in his loan terms but even if he wanted to move permanently, Sampdoria would not be able to afford it.
The Italian outfit are at risk of going bankrupt and have had issues just paying players and staff.
They also look set to be relegated this season given they are ten points from safety with ten games to go.

Winks will return in the summer to parent club Spurs, where he will still have a year to go on this contract.
But even though there could be a new manager in place at the North Londoners by then, SunSport understands the midfielder is likely to be on the move again.
Winks revealed he was not contacted by anyone at Spurs despite suffering a lengthy injury.
He said: “I feel indebted to Sampdoria, if I had been available from the start I would have given my all.

Erik ten Hag set to put five top Man Utd stars on transfer list this summer and one is favourite of Glazer owners

ERIK TEN HAG is ready to put five Manchester United players on the chopping block this summer – including a favourite of co-owner Joel Glazer. The Dutchman wants to clear house as he tries to mould the perfect squad to build on clear progress the Red Devils have shown this season.

In his first year at the club, Ten Hag has ended United’s trophy drought by landing the Carabao Cup and will be aiming for more silverware.
He has also made the club competitive again in the Premier League after years in the wilderness.
But his mission is far from complete and more players could be shown the door this summer.
Manchester Evening News report that Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly will all be up for sale this summer.
    READ MORE ON MAN UNITED
Maguire is the club captain and Ten Hag has often spoken highly of his leadership abilities.
But the 30-year-old has lacked first-team opportunities and found himself spending much time on the bench.
Meanwhile, Martial is believed to be the favourite of co-owner Joel Glazer and he has reportedly intervened to stop the Frenchman being sold previously.
But the 27-year-old, who was signed with much expectation in 2015, has failed to convince over a sustained period and has been increasingly hampered by injury problems.

United’s bloated squad could be reduced even further than those five players with others far from safe.
They include Dean Henderson who United are reportedly open to selling.
The goalkeeper, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest but sidelined with injury, memorably lashed out at the club after his move was confirmed.
And Jadon Sancho could also be at risk of the chop as Ten Hag reportedly grows frustrated with the winger.
The funds raised by club sales could help United achieve their transfer ambitions this summer.
The Red Devils are pursuing Harry Kane as they look to land a top quality striker.
United have also been linked with a move for full-back Benjamin Pavard. More

New clip of Julian Nagelsmann naming the most important position on the pitch surfaces…and Chelsea fans are loving it

JULIAN NAGELSMANN is the current bookies favourite for the Chelsea job – and fans are more than happy about it after a video of him talking tactics resurfaced. The German coach, 35, is currently on gardening leave so the Blues will reportedly require Bayern Munich’s permission to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

But Chelsea fans are already excited by the prospect of Nagelsmann taking over from the axed Graham Potter.
It comes after footage of a YouTube interview on Bayern Munich’s channel from six months ago resurfaced on social media.
Nagelsmann sat down with Matt LaFleur, head coach of NFL giants the Green Bay Packers.
And Nagelsmann declared the “No6” position in midfield as the most crucial part to any of his team.

When asked what the most important position on a football pitch is, Nagelsmann said: “For me it’s [the] No6.
“It depends on your philosophy. You wouldn’t get the same answer from every coach, but for me it’s position No6.”
Nagelsmann went on to add: “You need every player but I think the most important player is the position No6 because it’s like the quarterback in American football, nearly the same.

His views had Blues fans salivating about the prospect of Nagelsmann potentially building his team around Enzo Fernandez.
The 22-year-old World Cup winner joined the Blues in January in a mega £107million deal.
In response to the video of Naglesmann, one fan said: “If this guy gets hold of Enzo.”
Another joked: “Julian Nagelsmann it is then.”
And a third supporter said: “Any manager who knows the 6 is the most important player on the pitch, gets my support.”
Elsewhere, SunSport exclusively revealed on Monday night that Luis Enrique has emerged as a frontrunner for the Chelsea job.

Man Utd legend makes bizarre proposal of a transfer window for MANAGERS as he slams Potter and Rodgers sackings

Ince, 55, wants clubs to only be able to make changes at the top during certain windows, just as they are only allowed to sign players during the summer or January.
The Manchester United great told Sporting Post: “I have always had this thing that players get protected, but there is no protection for managers.
“There should be more protection for managers and they should only be allowed to be sacked and brought in at certain times, like the transfer window for players.
“It’s not just about the individual managing the club, it’s also about moving your family around, finding schools, nurseries, and then you can just lose your job in seven months.

“I get that it is part of being a manager, but there has to be more protection.”
Ince also criticised Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali for putting Potter in a difficult situation, with huge changes behind the scenes and a bloated squad.
Speaking to Sportingpost.com, he added: “To think about managing 28 or 30 players is almost impossible, let alone 25 superstars!
“You can’t possibly keep all the players happy.

“You’ve got players who are in the Champions League squad yet who aren’t in the Premier League squad, and vice versa.
“That’s not an organised situation and to put Graham Potter in that situation was always going to be difficult for him.
“These players want to play and it all falls down to the manager but it’s not always down to them.”
Potter was axed just hours after former Reading manager Rodgers was sacked at the King Power with Leicester in the bottom three.
Ince said: “I don’t feel he has been supported enough.
“A number of those players have been there for a long time and when you’re in the Premier League you have to keep moving forward. If you’re staying still you’re going to struggle.” More

5 players who could thrive throughout April ahead of this week’s Dream Team transfer refresh

DREAM TEAM gaffers will get their hands on five box-fresh transfers this Friday. With European knockout ties, FA Cup semi-finals and Premier League double Game Weeks to come in the following weeks, April will undoubtedly prove to be a pivotal month.
Here we’ve identified five players (outside the blindingly obvious candidates) we think could thrive throughout the rest of the month.
    Jack Grealish (£4.1m)
Grealish has adjusted to life under Guardiola
Man City’s No10 had one of his best games in a blue shirt at the weekend as he played a significant role in Liverpool’s capitulation at the Etihad.
Grealish scored one goal and assisted another as Pep Guardiola’s side came from behind to win 4-1.
He was great value for his ten points – his second double-digit haul of the season – having given Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.3m) and company a torrid time with his silky dribbling.
The England international’s club form has been noticeably better in recent months and with Phil Foden (£5.1m) sidelined while he recovers from having his appendix removed, Grealish is essentially a guaranteed starter on the left flank for the next three weeks.
He has registered 50 points across the last nine Game Weeks and with City set to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals and Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-finals on top of four more league games before the end of the month, there’s plenty of time for the 5.2%-owned midfielder to add to his tally further.
    Luke Shaw (£4.6m)
    Most read in Football

Man United looked pretty flat against Newcastle and were comprehensively outplayed from start to finish.
However, the Red Devils busy schedule looks ripe for points even if their general functionality as a team is reduced all the while Casemiro (£3.4m) is suspended.
For example, Shaw gained a lot of ground in the rankings last month despite the fact it started with him incurring minus six points at Anfield.
Erik ten Hag’s side host Brentford in midweek before favourable league match-ups against Everton and Nottingham Forest around two Europa League legs against Sevilla.
All in all, Shaw potentially has a further EIGHT fixtures to fulfil before the start of May.
In comparison, Ben White (£4.5m), who nine points ahead of his compatriot after the weekend’s results, has a maximum of five more games in the same time frame – which includes away trips to Liverpool and Man City.
    Dan Burn (£4.1m)
    Back among the clean sheets
Sunday’s performance would have come as a massive reassurance for the many gaffers who have put their faith in a Newcastle-heavy defence.
Not only did the Magpies keep their first clean sheet since January, Kieran Trippier (£5.7m) rolled back the months to provide an assist and claim the Star Man award – though the right-back very much falls under the category of ‘blindingly obvious’ in terms of Dream Team recommendations.
However, if clean sheets are back on the menu then the Toon’s giant left-back may be worth a whirl as well.
Burn’s upcoming fixtures certainly aren’t anything to balk at: West Ham, Brentford, Aston Villa, Spurs, Everton, Southampton.
With 120 points to his name, the 6ft 7in defender is Dream Team seventh-best asset in his position at the time of writing.
    Jarrod Bowen (£3.9m)
You haven’t forgotten about the Europa Conference League, have you?Credit: GETTY
Many Dream Team bosses will instinctively want to keep West Ham assets are arm’s length given their form as a collective this season.
But the Europa Conference League quarter-finals should not be underestimated (okay, they should, but not totally).
Bowen has thoroughly enjoyed himself in the continent’s tertiary competition this term, bagging 44 points in six outings – that record suggests the Hammers’ two legs against Gent may be worth targeting.
With ten goals and six assists in all competitions to his name at this stage, the ex-Hull wingers boasts a respectable total of goal involvements even his tally doesn’t quite compare to his efforts in 2021/22.
It’s worth noting that he’s earned six Star Man awards and only four players have claimed more at this juncture.
West Ham also have eight more fixtures in the diary this month.
    John Stones (£5.6m)
Capable of playing virtually anywhereCredit: GETTY
We finish by reverting back to Man City and their adaptable centre-back-turned-defensive-midfielder.
Against Liverpool, Stones played brilliantly alongside Rodri in Guardiola’s favoured system of late and so it’s likely he’ll reprise the role in the coming weeks.
The England international is slightly more likely to contribute goal involvements in his new role but his viability depends on his schedule, which looks promising.
    Read More on The Sun
Granted, Bayern could inflict minus points over two quarter-final legs with all their attacking power but City’s fixtures around those games look like strong clean sheet possibilities: Southampton, Leicester, Sheffield United.
Arsenal’s visit to the Etihad on the 26th is clearly gigantic in the context of the Premier League title race but it’s worth remembering that City beat the Gunners 3-1 in north London. More

Sofa naps, 5-a-side carnage and kicking West Ham’s best academy talents – Mark Noble’s unique style as sporting director

FROM a one-club hero to a one-of-a-kind sporting director.Mark Noble’s nickname of Mr West Ham was well earned over an 18-year stint at his beloved boyhood team, racking up 550 appearances in the process.
Mark Noble with newly appointed Academy manager Kenny BrownCredit: West Ham
Having hung up his weathered boots at the end of last season, the 35-year-old admitted to needing some R&R on a beach with a beer in his hand and his family by his side.
That lasted all of a few months, returning to east London with a dapper new title and suit to match in January, learning the boardroom ropes and attending European draws in Nyon.
Behind the scenes at West Ham’s infamous Chadwell Heath academy, however, is where he is having the biggest impact – and it involves napping on sofas and two-footing teenagers.
For the first time in 24 years, the Hammers have representation in the FA Youth Cup semi-finals – their U18s taking on Southampton at the London Stadium on Thursday.
    READ MORE FOOTBALL NEWS
It was back in 1999 that the likes of Joe Cole and Michael Carrick lifted that youth trophy, going on to become a part of West Ham’s very own Golden Generation of academy products that also included Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Glenn Johnson and Jermain Defoe.
Since then, Declan Rice aside, there have been few opportunities for the fans to idolise one of their own for club and country, while the last academy grad to make his debut starting in a Premier League match was Jeremy Ngakia back in January 2020.
His role may be first team based, but Noble – who signed as a 12-year-old in 2000 – is working around the clock to ensure West Ham’s ‘Academy of Football’ tag to be reinstated.
Kevin Keen – club legend and now U18s manager – explained: “Noble is here two, three times a week. Of those, he’ll train with my group once a week.

“He’ll train with the U16s. He’ll train with the U15s. He knows nearly all the kids in the academy.
“He pulls them to the side and gives them nuggets of info. That is priceless.
“When he trains, he trains properly. If there’s a tackle, there’s a tackle. It’s a proper training session.
“Then you’ll get an U10 walk in who wants to talk to his coach about Saturday’s game.

Noble is desperate for West Ham’s academy to produce first team stars again
The aim is to make this wall of senior debutants in the Premier League
“Mark will go: ‘I saw that one!’ It’s a vibe that’s been created.
“That is something I would say is exclusive to West Ham. I don’t think you’ll have too many academies where you’ve got a bloke who played over 500 games for the first team and is now sporting director doing that.”
Kenny Brown – who played for West Ham between 1991 and 1996 – took over as Academy Manager in February.
He said: “Noble will play two hours of five-a-side, it is carnage, then he’ll come here, have a shower, half has a sleep on the settee.
“Only last week, he trained the whole of the session with the U16s, then moves over to his son Lenny’s group in the U13s.
“He’s got a lovely big office at the first-team training ground but he’s never in it. You’re thinking he should be in a suit or something, but he’s in a tracksuit more than he’s ever been.”
Noble was renowned for his sweeping and cleaning of changing rooms during his playing days, born from his upbringing at Upton Park.
It is now a tradition that academy products stepping up into the first team follow – and Noble still finds time to confirm it is maintained at all levels.
Brown added: “I went into the scholar dressing rooms as I was leaving once and they were both s**tholes.
“I rang Kevin to give him a heads up so he said he would nail them in the morning. He gets them in and then Noble walked in. All the scholars were rinsed by the sporting director.
“From that day, it has been immaculate. That is the power of his presence.”
Despite having to compete with the likes of London rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, there remains a unique expectation for West Ham to produce young top flight stars.
You only have to walk around their newly renovated £5m academy base in Romford to see that. Every inch of wall is donned with frames of success stories.
Chadwell Heath is full of odes to past glories and local heroes
Stars from past and present fill the hallways of the academy
The latest crop of U18 stars made their debuts in Europe this season
From Lampard and Cole to Bobby Moore and Geoff Hurst, and most recently Noble and Rice – the latter still making time to visit the academy on a regular basis.
There is always space for more frames, with hopes some of the current U18s could fill it.
One enlarged photo shows a select few of that group who got their chance in a Europa Conference League group stage dead rubber away to Romanian side FCSB in November.
Since taking charge in his second stint in east London in 2019, boss David Moyes continues to do his part, handing out 16 senior debuts, nine of which have come in Europe.
Keen believes the U18s are the “best they’ve had for a while”. He added: “We haven’t got the all singing, all dancing training ground.
“You look at some of the facilities that some of our rivals in London have got and even outside of London. What we sell ourselves on being a real family club.
“That’s our big selling point, that’s why you come to West Ham. You look at the boards, you look at the people around the place, the people who have come through the academy.
“It’s not about flashy cars, being on the telly, tricks, having everything done for you – no, to get to that, is f***ing hard work.
“If you’re good enough, you’ll get a chance to play in the first team. It’s just how a proper football club is run, when you’ve got people at the top who want to do things properly.”
    Read More on The Sun
Brown chimed in: “We haven’t built a £5m training ground to go and buy £160m worth of players every summer. We have to produce players.
“The Golden Generation was so special, but it was a long time ago.” More
