As a player McQueen spent seven years at Old Trafford and six years at Leeds, having started his career in Scotland with St Mirren in 1970.
Hayley revealed McQueen’s condition means he is now “completely bedridden”.
She told Good Morning Britain: “He is completely bedridden, which is awful. A big strapping man, just in bed.
“He watches a lot of football, not current day, he has a lot of football friends popping by. We’ve had a lot of his ex-team-mates come by.

“He knows who we all are, which is very weird because I associate dementia with not having a clue what on earth is going on or who anybody is and I quite like that fact, from a selfish point of view.
“But of me is like ‘if he didn’t know who we were, where we were, it maybe wouldn’t be so hard to think about potentially the day when he has to go into a home. At least he doesn’t know where he is or what’s going on’.
“He’s very aware, it’s like he’s locked in himself.”
Hayley went on to say her family debated whether or not to tell McQueen about his diagnosis.

The Sky Sports News presenter is the eldest of three children McQueen had with wife Yvonne.
Hayley continued: “When we found out that he had dementia, we were given the diagnosis, we debated whether to tell him or not.
“We were like ‘if we don’t tell him, he’s never going to know’ and if we tell him do we then have to remind him every day that he’s got dementia?
“We weren’t going to tell him and then we’re sat in the hospital and they were like “ok, Gordon, this is how we deal with dementia” and that’s that then.
“He said ‘I don’t want to get worse, I want to get better’.”
McQueen retired from football in 1985 following a short stint in Hong Kong with Seiko SA, and would go on to manage Airdrieonians.
In 2012, he was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame.
A defender by trade, McQueen won the First Division title with Leeds United in 1974, and reached the European Cup final the following year.
He also won the FA Cup in 1983 during his time with Manchester United. More

Tottenham have been keen to bolster the structure of their football operations since Fabio Paratici stepped down as managing director.
The Italian was handed a 30-month worldwide football ban for his role in the alleged financial irregularities scandal at Juventus.
Spurs were seeking clarification over whether he could still work for the club up until his appeal against it on April 19.
Performance director Gretar Steinsson and head of football strategy Andy Scoulding have taken on some of Paratici’s responsibilities.

Levy has come under fire from some sections of the Spurs support for his running of the club this season.
Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League table and are in danger of missing out on a Champions League place.
They are three points behind Manchester United and Newcastle, having played a game more than both teams.
Supporters have chanted for him to “get out of our club” at multiple games this season, angry at the perceived lack of success during his time at the helm. More

According to reports, he wants to strengthen the squad’s central midfield and has increased efforts to try and sign Djibril Sow during the summer transfer window.
It’s thought that this would provide back up to regular starters Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey.
The Spanish manager signed Jorginho from Chelsea in January and got Mohamed Elneny to sign a new contract in February, but is clearly still hunting for new arrivals to help bolster the squad.
26-year-old Sow will begin the final year of this contract with German club Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
The player has made it clear to Frankfurt he will not be signing an extension with them this summer, and has already had talks with English, French and Italian clubs.
However, Arsenal may have an advantage over other clubs as Sow’s international team-mate, Xhaka, is on their side.
The pair played alongside each other for all four of Switzerland’s games during the 2022 World Cup, and Sow has said before how much he admires the 30-year old midfielder.
Sow told Sport1 last year: “Above all, Xhaka is a role model as a personality, as a leader.

“He brings a presence to the pitch that I haven’t seen that often before.”
The two have both played for Bundesliga team Gladbach, and Sow has previously spoken about his desire to follow Xhaka into the Premier League.
Frankfurt will be keen to try and cash in this summer whilst Sow still holds some value, and have valued the midfielder at around €15million (£13m).
The Swiss has seven goals and 13 assists in his 151 appearances for the German team, and helped them win the Europa League last season.
The player also has 36 caps for Switzerland, making him a solid option for Arsenal if they want to increase the depth of their squad. More

Wilshere impressed and started scoring goals from midfield which first attracted the attentions of Arsene Wenger.
    What happened to Jack Wilshere?

A loan spell with Bolton Wanderers saw the youngster impress and became a regular fixture in the first team the following season.
His performances saw him win a call up to England senior team where he became only the 10th 16-year-old to win a full cap under the guidance of Fabio Capello.
It was in the 2011/12 season that Wilshere suffered a stress fracture of his ankle which was to be the start of his dreaded injury-curse.
The injury resulted in Jack Wilshere missing the entire season and would become the something that was to plague his career.
Wilshere spent 17 months on the sidelines before he was to make his return to the first-team setup.
He was sent out on loan to Bournemouth where he was to rediscover the form which saw Wenger put such faith in him.
While on loan he won consecutive Player of the Month awards for The Cherries before suffering a hairline fracture of his fibula in a game against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
This saw him miss the remainder of the season.
Jack Wilshere would have more success in the Arsenal first-team after his rehabilitation but eventually was sold to West Ham in 2018.
At the end of his three-year contract he was released from The Hammers and re-joined Bournemouth on a short-term contract.
He struggled to make an impact and announced his retirement from football at the young age of 30-years-old.
    Where is Jack Wilshere now?
After announcing his retirement from playing, Wilshere was announced as the head coach of Arsenal under-18s.

The Reds drew 0-0 at Chelsea on Tuesday after Klopp rang the changes following the humbling 4-1 defeat at Manchester City.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo were all dropped to the bench, while Virgil van Dijk missed out through illness and Harvey Elliott was not in the squad.
And Klopp was asked whether the changes were due to the loss against City, or rather to manage the workload of his players.
He replied to the question: “We had a game against City, which is an influence physically and performance-wise. It is both.

“How can you expect I give you an answer and say ‘two were because of that and four were because of that’.
“That is a real waste of time.”
Klopp was also quizzed on whether the tough week, which has already included a draw at Chelsea, would define Liverpool’s season.
The Reds host league leaders Arsenal on Sunday after a run of three Prem games without a win.

And Klopp said: “If we win this game, then we will have taken four points out of these games. This would be completely normal for us in the past.
“Most of the time we drew there [Stamford Bridge]. Last season, I sat at home with COVID. We started really well but it was a draw in the end. And losing to Man City was always possible.
“I understand from your point of view it’s super difficult to find new questions every week but believe me it’s even more difficult to find new answers.”
The Reds are set to be boosted on Sunday by the return of defender Van Dijk.
Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz are also back in training after missing extended periods through injury. More

With eight goals and nine assists to his name, Frimpong has had a stellar season with the German team.
The 22-year old has become key player in the squad, as he can operate as a right-sided winger as well.
The defender has a contract with the Bundesliga club until summer 2025, but has apparently become a potential target of the Old Trafford team for the upcoming transfer window.
According to reports, talks with his manager have been going on for weeks to acquire the players signature.

However, Leverkusen have named the price United would have to pay in order to sign the player.
According to SportBILD, the youngster could cost the Red Devils around £44million.
But, if Frimpong keeps up his good performances until the end of the season, the eye-watering sum may not be a transfer hurdle.
The former Manchester City and Celtic player scored last weekend during a match that saw Leverkusen beat Schalke 3-0, helping his side climb to seventh in the Bundesliga.

He was also chosen to be on the Netherlands squad for the 2022 World Cup, but ended up failing to make an appearance under former United boss Louis van Gaal.
Frimpong also ended up being left out of Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman’s first squad for last month’s Euro 2024 qualifiers, and so is still waiting to make his international debut.
Still, if Man Utd do manage to fork out for him, the 22-year old could prove to be a quality acquisition for Ten Hag’s side.
However, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also signalled their interest in the Dutch defender.
According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barca and Bayern have been in direct communication with Frimpong’s agent, hotting up the race to land the star player.
