“I know he’s had a few injury problems so it’ll be important for me to speak to him about that and find out where he’s at.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to watch him, and other players like Reece James, Tammy Abraham and [Fikayo] Tomori to go on and be huge players here or elsewhere.
“But I know what I get from Mason. I just want to see him perform on the pitch.
“We have a good relationship. We talk a lot. He’s been a huge player for Chelsea.”

He emerged as one of Erik ten Hag’s top transfer targets at the beginning of March, shortly after becoming Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer.
But according to Scholes, the England skipper would not be the best fit for Man Utd.
When speaking to BT Sport, the 48-year-old said: “I think goals are a problem, [United are] a long way behind City and Arsenal at the top of the table goals wise.
“I think Harry is very happy where he is. If he was going to move it would have been to Man City a couple of years ago.

“He would be fantastic, 25 goals guaranteed, but it’s very difficult for him to move at 30 years of age.
“It’s a risk as well for Man Utd, if you put all your eggs in that Harry Kane basket and all of a sudden Daniel Levy is messing you about, you might end up with no one.
“If you get him early, brilliant, but I just think he’s very happy at Tottenham doing what he’s doing.”
Man Utd have expressed an interest in signing several young strikers since January.

Man Utd player ratings: Bruno Fernandes dictates game against Everton in new position but Antony is too wasteful

MANCHESTER UNITED beat Everton 2-0 through goals from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial to strengthen their grip on a top four spot. Here is how SunSport rated the United players.
Bruno Fernandes put in a stellar performanceCredit: Getty
Antony had chances to score and he didn’t take them.Credit: AFP
    DAVID DE GEA: 6
His distribution has come into question but no complaints in this game. His long ball passes were particularly good with a brilliant ball to Antony. Wasn’t called upon to produce any trademark reaction stops with Everton awful up front.
    AARON WAN-BISSAKA: 7
Missed a golden opportunity to get only his third United career goal when he put the ball wide of an open goal after latching on to Antony’s shot that rebounded off the post. That apart, a good attacking performance down that right flank.
    HARRY MAGUIRE: 8
A surprise choice ahead of Raphael Varane for his first league start since February 12. The captain has done well to keep working hard and ignoring all the criticism and put in a strong display.
    LISANDRO MARTINEZ: 7
Has become a real fans favourite in his first season at Old Trafford with his tenacious displays. He was at full tilt again to deny Everton a breakthrough.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
    TYRELL MALACIA: 7
Back in at left-back with Luke Shaw out injured. Like Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot it is a real positive for Erik Ten Hag to have two players at such a good level in this position.
    SCOTT MCTOMINAY: 8
Boosted by his four goals for Scotland in the international break he now has his first in the league for United since December 30th 2021. Coincidentally that was also against Sean Dyche in a 3-1 win over Burnley.
    BRUNO FERNANDES: 9
Playing in a deeper role, he dictated play with his searching deliveries. Always available to give and receive the ball. He was everywhere the action was.
    ANTONY: 6
Could have had a first-half hat-trick as he hit the woodwork and forced two great saves from Jordan Pickford. He does not convert enough of the opportunities he has. Subbed for the third game running.

    MARCEL SABITZER: 7
Used once again in a No10 role as he was for the first time against Brentford. Looks like it is working with Marcus Rashford roaming freely as the No9. Certainly a better option than having Wout Weghorst in either position.
    JADON SANCHO: 7
This was better from Sancho who provided the assist for McTominay’s goal. Still, Ten Hag needs more… and on a more consistent basis.
    MARCUS RASHFORD: 7
A threat throughout the game and should really have added to his 28 goals for the season with the chances he had. Was alert to seize on a Seamus Coleman mistake to set up Martial for his goal. But the sight of him limping off before the end will be a concern.
    SUBS:
    ANTHONY MARTIAL: 7
With United creating and wasting plenty of chances, fit-again Martial was brought into the action on 60 minutes and delivered with his first goal since February 1. (Antony, 60).
    FRED: 6
Brought on in an attacking midfield role with United 2-0 up and tested Pickford in injury time. (Sabitzer, 76).
    CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN: 6
Back for the first time since the end of January when he suffered an ankle injury. Received an emotional welcome from a packed Old Trafford and will be vital again in the run in. (Sancho, 76).
    WOUT WEGHORST: 5
On for Marcus Rashford who limped off. Ten Hag swears by Weghorst but even has decided he needs to be a sub only now. (Rashford, 81).

TV cameras picked up a young United fan proudly holding Rashford’s shirt aloft after the star player had been subbed off.
