The Spaniard argues that  clean sheets are  the vital stat — and he has the most in the Premier League alongside Newcastle’s Nick Pope on 13.
In all competitions, he boasts 20, second only to Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen (23).
And De Gea, who joined United in 2011 from Atletico Madrid for £17.8million, said: “When we keep a clean sheet, it means the team and I did a good job.
“But criticism is always there, you cannot please everyone. I have 20 clean sheets, close to the most in Europe, so we are doing a great job  and I help the team do it.”

Tyler – brother of Liverpool star Trent – was smacked in the head with a baseball bat so hard the handle broke off.
While Man Utd ace Marcus’ brother Dane “feared for his life” after a shotgun was pointed at his face.
The masked raiders then made off with a £70,000 Range Rover and jewellery including a £20,000 Rolex.

Tariq Dervan, 22, Romario Harmer, 21 and Talleko Lemonious, 28, had denied involvement.
But after a trial in January each of them was convicted by a jury of five counts of robbery and three counts of possession of an offensive weapon.
Passing sentence, Mr Recorder Peter Horgan said: “This was clearly a brazen and planned robbery in broad daylight.”
Dervan, from Staffordshire, was jailed for five-and-a-half years; and Harmer, from Old Trafford, Manchester, for four years.

Lemonious, from Wythenshawe, was also sentenced for possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition linked to an unrelated crime.
He was jailed for 18 years in total.
Earlier, Stephen McNally, prosecuting, told the court the victims had been having breakfast with three other friends at the Little Rock Caribbean Café in Moss Side, Manchester, on the morning of January 12, 2019.
They intended to drive to Brighton to watch a Liverpool football match later that day.
But all five were robbed after the trio burst in shouting “get your watches off”, as café staff fled in terror.
The robbers fled in the Range Rover – but it was fitted with a tracker and the trio were arrested by police an hour later at a house around two miles away in Fallowfield, south Manchester.
At the house, police found items stolen in the robbery, including watches and wallets, along with ski masks.
The sawn-off shotgun was found hidden in a nearby bush which had Harmer’s DNA on.

Despite an impressive return from injury, interim boss Frank Lampard then caused a stir when he left the star out of the team for last weekend’s defeat at Wolves.
Kante has been recalled to the side for Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash at Real Madrid tonight.
His future, however, has been back in the headlines ahead of the showdown with the LaLiga giants.
The former Leicester City ace will become a free agent this summer when his current deal expires in June.
    READ MORE ARSENAL NEWS
We have reported previously how he looks set to pen a new two-year extension to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Le Parisien have now claimed that a source from the player’s camp has told them that now looks like the likely scenario.
But they have also dropped a transfer bombshell by claiming that Chelsea’s bitter rivals Arsenal are also attempting to hijack those plans and snatch him on a freebie.
The Kante representative was quoted as saying: “N’Golo would like to stay in London, where he has his habits.

“I think he’ll extend his deal at Chelsea before going to the Middle-East in two or three years.”
And then they added: “Arsenal have also made an enquiry.”
Mikel Arteta was linked with a move for the ace last summer but that transfer failed to materialise.
Now the Premier League leaders could be eyeing up another swoop to bolster their engine room ahead of their return to the Champions League. More

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly ‘to meet with Gavi’s parents’ as Blues step up free transfer chase for Barcelona star

CHELSEA have stepped up their pursuit of Gavi with Todd Boehly set to meet with his parents, according to reports. The wonderkid has impressed since breaking into Barcelona’s first-team and played a key role for Spain at the World Cup.
Chelsea hope to sign Gavi on a free transferCredit: AP
But he could be available on a free transfer in the summer despite penning a deal until 2026 last September.
Barcelona’s financial issues means Gavi has been stripped of his contract and squad number and re-registered as an academy player on his previous contract.
And it appears Boehly is trying to take advantage of his contract situation by luring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have reportedly held talks with Gavi’s agent Ivan de la Pena.

And now Boehly is set to meet with his parents to outline Chelsea’s plans for the 18-year-old and their desire to make him a key part of the team, report AS.
The Blues hope to pinch Gavi away from the Nou Camp on a free but it is believed the youngster would rather stay at Barca.
However that could prove impossible if the Blaugrana are unable to cut a significant chunk off their wage bill.
Chelsea could offer much more than Barca and could hand Gavi a huge signing-on fee.

And if the West Londoners were to bring in ex-Spain boss Luis Enrique as manager for next season, that could further sweeten the deal.
Barcelona have been effectively placed under a transfer ban by LaLiga until they sort their finances out.
Ten players could reportedly leave the league leaders as they need to raise £178million. More

Spanish journalist drops huge hint Real Madrid will hire Mauricio Pochettino, in blow to Tottenham and Chelsea

A SPANISH journalist has delivered a blow to both Chelsea and Tottenham by dropping a huge hint that Mauricio Pochettino The Argentinean manager, 51, is currently out of work having left Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
A fresh update has hinted that Mauricio Pochettino could be off to Real MadridCredit: PA
Pochettino is one of Spurs’ most successful and popular managers in recent history – despite failing to win a trophy with the club.
He averaged 1.89 points per game – the most for any Tottenham boss in Premier League history with a minimum of 38 Premier League games in charge.
The ex-Southampton chief capped off his five-year stint at White Hart Lane by leading Spurs to the 2019 Champions League final, where they lost to Liverpool.
But he was sacked just months later following a poor start to the next campaign before eventually taking over at PSG in January 2021, winning the Coupe de France and Ligue 1 prior to his departure.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Since Antonio Conte was sacked last month, he has been heavily tipped to make a return to the Tottenham hot-seat at the end of the season.
And he is also believed to be on Chelsea’s wishlist as they search for a permanent successor to the axed Graham Potter, with Frank Lampard currently in as caretaker for the remainder of the campaign.
However, reporter Anton Meana has dropped a huge clue as to where his next job will be – and it is in Spain with Real Madrid.
Current Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti’s future remains unclear despite leading the club to a LaLiga and Champions League double last season.

The Italian has even been linked with a shock move to take over the Brazilian national team.
And Meana has now provided an update on his situation to the El Larguero show on Cadena SER, where he hinted Poch could be on his way to the Bernabeu.
He said: “It would be big news if Ancelotti continued next year and even more so if he doesn’t win the Champions League. He knows that his future is up in the air.
“I think that if Real Madrid had to choose between [Zinedine] Zidane and Ancelotti, they would choose Zidane.”
He then added: “Pochettino did not want to coach Chelsea or Tottenham because he has something better and that smells bad to Ancelotti.
“Ancelotti knows that they are questioning him, and that is why he has opened the door to Brazil.” More

However, City fans started to hope that the winger was on his way back to the Etihad after his wife Candice Brook an their children Rio Stella and Milo moved back to the UK.
There were reports suggesting that the Germany international also left his country and was “commuting” to Munich.
However, the 27-year-old denied those claims and revealed that his Bavarian home was being renovated, which meant that it was not habitable for his family.
That is why the German’s wife and kids temporarily moved back to their flat in Manchester until construction is complete.

Sane said: “Unfortunately, there was complex renovation work at my house, so it was not habitable.
“My wife and the kids returned to our old apartment in Manchester.
“But my wife hasn’t moved to Manchester permanently, as soon as the renovation in Munich is done, she will come back with our kids.”
This comes after sensational reports suggesting Sane and Bayern team-mate Sadio Mane had a scuffle after Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to City in the Champions League.

According to BILD, the two forwards had a heated altercation during the match after a moment of miscommunication.
Tensions are said to have boiled up at full-time once the players returned to the dressing room and started yelling at each other.

Both managers were sent off for failing to control their staff in the second half of Spurs’ heated 2-1 victory over Albion at the weekend.
A 20-man bust-up broke out with pushing and shoving occurring from staff members on each side.
Stellini was not even near the disturbance so was always likely to be let off.
But De Zerbi, who has already served two touchline bans this season, was sweating over whether he would be sanctioned and potentially even miss the Seagulls’ FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City next week.

He is in the clear though after the FA chose not rap either chief, meaning Stellini will be in the dugout for Spurs’ hosting of Bournemouth on Saturday and De Zerbi will be on the touchline for Brighton’s trip to Chelsea on the same day.
Though both clubs face fines for their coaching staff’ behaviour.
An FA statement read: “Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion have been charged for a mass confrontation that took place during the 58th minute of their Premier League game on Saturday 8 April.
“It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their technical area occupants conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or do not behave in a way which is improper. Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion have until Monday 17 April to respond.”

Stellini and De Zerbi seemed to row on the touchline before the match had even started.
Brighton boss De Zerbi was seen pointing a finger at Tottenham interim gaffer Stellini as they shook hands ahead of the game.
They were then back at it as Lewis Dunk netted an equaliser after Son Heung-min had initially put the hosts in front.
It is claim De Zerbi celebrated in front of the Spurs bench when the Seagulls scored.
Tempers then flared in the second-half, with both managers sent off by referee Stuart Attwell following a touchline melee between the two dugouts.
Stellini protested his innocence after Attwell brandished the red, leading Brighton coach Andrea Maldera to laugh at him. More
