Chelsea fans issue hands-off warning and ‘demand £150m’ for young star as Liverpool and Man City circle

CHELSEA fans have issued a hands-off warning to Manchester City and Liverpool after reports emerged suggesting they were set to bid for Levi Colwill. Colwill has impressed on loan under Roberto de Zerbi at Brighton this season.

His performances have given rise to interest from both Man City and Liverpool, who are poised to pounce this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Chelsea’s struggles this season mean the club could face financial difficulty due to missing out on the Champions League and a massive loss in Premier League prize money.
This could consequently lead to a fire sale of stars to ensure the Blues do not breach Financial Fair Play rules.
And 20-year-old Colwill could be the perfect sale to solve this issue as City and the Reds look to freshen up their back line.

Guardiola in particular seems to have taken a liking to him, suggesting Brighton are the best team in the world at building up from the back, something left-footed Colwill is a key component of.
Chelsea fans rushed to social media to share their thoughts on the report.
Many fans were adamant the club would be mad to sell.
One said: “DO NOT SELL THIS GUY AND GIVE HIM A NEW CONTRACT TILL 2030. We should’ve renewed his contract last year before sending him on loan.”

The Standard’s report did also suggest fresh terms were set to be discussed between himself and Chelsea, with his current deal set to expire in 2025.
A second fan added: “Levi Colwill is the best young centre-back in world football. There is always going to be interest for him.
“Let’s just hope that Chelsea are able to keep him, because losing him would be a massive loss.”
While a third commented: “This club have made a lot of mistakes over the last few years but this would undoubtedly be the worst mistake it’s ever made if we allow him to go to Liverpool or Man City. Need to keep Colwill at all costs.”
Others set their eye-watering asking prices for Colwill.
One said: “£150m easy money,” before a second declared: “75m for Liverpool [and] 45m + Foden and Chilwell swap for Man City🤙.”
Another typed: “[£]300m. Only for you my friend @LFC 🤝.” More

Man Utd have top candidate to take Mason Greenwood’s No11 shirt as he could soon leave club

A TOP candidate to replace Mason Greenwood as Manchester United’s No11 has been identified if the star striker was to leave the club. The forward, 21, has not played for the Red Devils since January last year, and his long-term future with the club remains uncertain.

If Greenwood does leave United, his shirt number will be up for grabs – and one player is primed to take it
The Express reports that Brazilian star Antony could inherit the shirt.
Antony has struggled since moving to Old Trafford last summer, with three goals and no assists from 17 league matches.
A new shirt could help Antony find the form which has eluded him so far this season.

He currently wears the No21 shirt, which previously belonged to Edinson Cavani before the Uruguayan left for Valencia on a free transfer.
Antony previously worse the No11 shirt at Ajax, where he had 12 goal involvements in 23 league games.

Perhaps the most famous wearer of United’s No11 shirt is Ryan Giggs, who owned it throughout his time at the club before it passed to Adnan Januzaj when the Welshman retired in 2014.
Anthony Martial took the No11 shirt after Jose Mourinho stripped him of his No9 jersey – only to revert to the earlier number in 2019.
Whoever takes the No11 shirt next, United are understood to want a new centre-forward.
England captain Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are both currently under consideration – and could also inherit the No11 shirt if a move is completed.
It comes after United accepted that Greenwood may not return to the club until next season at the earliest amid an internal investigation.
But the club have reportedly rejected several offers from Turkish clubs for the player – who is desperate to play in the No11 shirt again.
Greenwood was recently spotted out with his pregnant partner – whom he plans to marry.

Bruno Fernandes and Antony were both subbed off on yellow cardsCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
The Manchester United boss substituted both Bruno Fernandes and Antony on Thursday night saying the referee had warned him they were in danger of getting a second yellow card and being sent off.
Both were playing well and United then crumbled drawing their Europa League quarter-final first leg with Sevilla 2-2 as they conceded two late goals.
Ten Hag said: “Bruno was throwing a ball away, so the next time he is off.
“With Antony, everything is going our way we are 2-0 up, we’re playing a good game, so don’t go into individual battles with your opponents, it’s not necessary, you’re heating up the opponent and the risk to get sent off. I don’t want to take the risk.

“So afterwards we call it where I’m coming from, you’re looking a cow in the ass. Yeah, a cow in the ass.
“So we call it in my region from the Netherlands, that is easy. But if he gets sent off you tell me, ‘Why don’t you get him off? Why did you go for the risk?'”
Ten Hag had made four unforced second-half subs in all adding to Harry Maguire replacing the injured Raphael Varane at the break.
So when Lisandro Martinez went down injured in the 86th minute they were left with ten men at 2-1 and conceded a late goal as Maguire headed into his goal.

Now the Ten Hag is left with huge problems ahead of three games in eight days starting with the trip to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Then it is off to Seville for the second of their Europa League tie and three days after that it is the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton at Wembley.

Both Varane and Martinez will definitely miss Sunday’s game as will Marcus Rashford who is set to miss six games in all with his groin injury.
Add to that the fact that Fernandes is suspended for the game in Seville and likewise Magurie for the Cup semi-final.
Ten Hag said: “Every game is a battle, every game is a fight and you have to be ready for that fight.
“We have a squad – we have more than 11 starters – so now others are on and when their time is there you have to show and contribute to the team, you have to be ready. That is what we expect and what we demand.”
And Ten Hag said there can be no excuses from players who are brought in from the cold to fill the gaps left by injury and suspensions if they don’t perform.
He said: “If you want to find excuses you have to look for another club. When the moment is there you have to contribute and that is what we demand.” More

Man Utd legend Schmeichel slams Harry Maguire for ‘lack of leadership’ after Sevilla stars carry off injured Lisandro

It came when Martinez was reduced to tears and taken off with an ankle problem after Erik ten Hag had already made his five substitutions.
United soldiered on with a man disadvantage, before Maguire’s own goal handed Sevilla a stoppage-time equaliser.
And Schmeichel zeroed in on Martinez’s injury after the game, offering his own unique view around how it unfolded.
Rather than believing Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel carried Martinez off because they are his Argentina team-mates, Schmeichel insisted they did so to try and get the game restarted as quickly as possible.

And he feels United captain Maguire should have done something to prevent them.
He said: “It looks like [the] Sevilla players are nice carrying him off the pitch. No, they wanted him out so they could get going.
“[The] United players should have stopped that, that’s a lack of leadership on the pitch.
“Harry Maguire should have managed that situation.”

Schmeichel also criticised United’s overall performance as they relinquished a two-goal lead at Old Trafford.
They will now need to beat Sevilla in Spain to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League.
“It’s a fair enough result, the way that it developed in the second half,” Schmeichel told BBC Radio 5 Live. “The players of Manchester United have missed a very good opportunity here.
“A few players today need to have a look at themselves and think about whether they are contributing to the team enough.
“There are a few players who should be embarrassed with their performances.
“De Gea played well, he made two fantastic saves, could not do anything about the goals. He kept Man Utd in the lead to no avail.
“Casemiro came back and played really well as well.
“The best player is the guy who scored two goals – Marcel Sabitzer was really good.

“His team-mates have let him down… he showed the way and they didn’t catch on to it.
