Fabrizio Romano now says the FA and Premier League have approved Chelsea’s transfer for Paez.

And once officially confirmed, the Blues will cough up £17.5m — with a bulk of that determined by add-ons.
However, Chelsea won’t be seeing Paez for some time to come.
That’s because players from South America must wait until they are 18 before coming to Europe.
And Chelsea won’t be able to play Paez until 2025 at the earliest.

No English club has been able to repeat that feat since, but the now Sky Sports pundit believes Pep Guardiola’s team are “far too close for comfort” to pulling off the same this term.
And Neville also insisted that it “is definitely on” as the Cityzens head to Bayern Munich with a 3-0 lead for the Champions League quarter final second-leg on Wednesday.
Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast on Sky Sports, he said: “They’re purring, they’re playing well, they’re in great form, they’re serious now about it.”
City beat Leicester 3-1 on Saturday and have closed the gap to just four points on top-flight leaders Arsenal, who they still have to play at home, to four points and have a game in hand.

Neville hailed the recent displays of trio of Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne and called them the “best midfield in the league” as well as praising the performances of attackers Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish and Riyad Mahrez.
He added: “They’re settled now – they’re hitting the home straight.
“The treble was mentioned in the studio […] it’s definitely on. They can do the treble.
“They can win the European Cup, they can win the FA Cup, they can win the Premier League.

And now the club has confirmed that a planning application has been sent to the council for the £300million renovation.
A club statement read: “Manchester City is today announcing that it has submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council for the development of a best-in-class fan experience and year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad Stadium.
“This follows the conclusion of the Club’s consultation held between Tuesday 28 February and Sunday 26 March, where fans and the local community were invited to share their feedback on concepts and designs.
“Having reviewed all of the feedback submitted via the consultation questionnaire, the Club is delighted to confirm that fans were in favour of the concepts and proposals presented.”

The expanded capacity is set to come as a result of an extended North Stand with “one larger, single upper tier above the existing lower tier”.
And a host of other new features are also set to be implemented at the ground.

They include a sky bar overlooking the pitch and a stadium roof walk – much like the one on offer at Tottenham.

If approved, Man City will hope to start work in November and have the stadium expansion completed for the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
They believe 2,600 jobs will be created – with locals being given priority.
City have hired architectural firm Populous for the job following their work at Tottenham’s new state-of-the-art venue.
Speaking about the plans, Man City’s managing director Danny Wilson said: “Over several months we have been developing concepts and designs for a best-in-class fan experience and year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad Stadium and are delighted to have now submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our fans and the local community for their participation in our recent consultation, not only for completing the questionnaire but sharing their detailed comments and feedback with us, all of which has been carefully reviewed and considered.
“As with all Club developments, ensuring our local community benefit is a key priority and we believe these proposals will deliver long-term economic and social opportunities, building on the regeneration work delivered in East Manchester by City Football Group since 2008.” More

Jamie Carragher blasts Arsenal for getting ‘cocky’ after West Ham draw and makes Premier League title prediction

ARSENAL have gotten “cocky” in the title race, claims Jamie Carragher. The Gunners have seen their lead at the top eroded to just four points in recent weeks, with title rivals Manchester City possessing a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta’s side have surrendered two-goal leads in their last two matches – drawing 2-2 at Liverpool and then West Ham.
Following their draw at the London Stadium, Carra refuted claims that Arsenal are “bottling” the title – instead believing that they have become over-confident.
Appearing on Monday Night Football, the 45-year-old said: “What I would say is when in the run-in for a title, always a question mark over team who haven’t done it before.
“Have they got the nerve? When they lose a game or drop points have they bottled it?
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
“This idea they have bottled it or haven’t held their nerve I think it is completely the opposite because when you talk about someone getting nervous in a run-in you can’t play as well as they did in first 30 mins at Anfield or West Ham if they are going in tense, worried about fixtures – the football was out of this world.
“The problem over the last two weeks is they got complacent, they got cocky, that game was so easy.”
Manchester City host Arsenal next week, in a match that could see Pep Guardiola’s men move within one point of top spot with a game in hand.
Carra by no means thinks the Gunners are “out of it” at this stage – but has warned that they must guard against complacency.

He added: “The only way Arsenal put themselves in trouble is getting complacent, getting cocky, a little bit arrogant.
“The game became so easy, Gabriel Jesus was at right-back for five minutes.”
Carragher’s fellow Sky pundits Roy Keane and Gary Neville squabbled at the weekend over whether Arsenal will still have had a successful season if they slip to second.
The latter opined: “This title race always started at Anfield. Look at the fixtures.
“But they would have snapped your hand off to be in this position at the start of the season. Arsenal finishing second would still be an unbelievable season.”
Keane, 51, scoffed: “No chance. They’ve been top of the table all season. It would be a terrible season.
“They’re out of every cup competition. 2-0 up this week, 2-0 up today. It’s a huge disappointment.”
And Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink backed Keane up, adding: “Everyone will get stronger next year. They might not be in this position. It would be a disaster.”
Arsenal are next in action on Friday night, when they welcome bottom side Southampton to the Emirates.

Adorable reason Chelsea star N’Golo Kante once apologised for his present to team-mate and was ’embarrassed’

Kante, 32, is looking to reestablish himself as one of the world’s top midfielders after a lengthy injury spell.
The Frenchman has played just four times in the league this season — with each appearance coming under a different manager.
And he is now thought to be on the verge of signing a new Blues contract, with his current deal up this summer.
But Kante is not just a popular footballer with Chelsea fans and even supporters of other clubs.

The French World Cup winner is widely regarded as the humblest player in the game.
And his modesty has seen him end up interacting with people across the capital
On one occasion Kante was spotted doing his shopping in an Asda.
He then joined some supporters at their home for a curry after praying at his local mosque.

And Kante even turned up at the wedding of a fan’s daughter, congratulating the newlyweds before mingling with guests.
Most famously, he still drives a £10,000 Mini Cooper from his Leicester days in 2015.
But even before his Foxes spell, Kante was still charming people with his shyness.
Former Caen teammate Felipe Saad has revealed how Kante turned up to his birthday party with a box of chocolates for a gift.
The midfielder was embarrassed with his choice of present and apologised profusely to Saad.
And Kante adorably explained he did not know what to buy as he had never been invited to a birthday party before.
Saad told UOL: “I called N’Golo Kante for my birthday, it was a small party.
“Suddenly he arrived at the restaurant with a box of chocolates, all embarrassed.
“He apologised for the gift and said he didn’t know what to get because he had never been invited to a birthday party before.” More

Boehly is spot on that Chelsea’s season is an embarrassment… but criticising players is the pot calling the kettle black

TODD BOEHLY has become a regular visitor to the Chelsea dressing room.It is almost a shock if he does not wander into the changing area after a game.
Todd Boehly has already sacked two Chelsea managers this seasonCredit: Rex
Next time, though, maybe he should stop before spouting off in order to take a long look in the mirror.
Chairman Boehly is spot on if he truly believes the club’s plight this season is an embarrassment.
The players have been awful, the results terrible and the performances well below minimum standard.
But what the players must have felt on Saturday following defeat by Brighton is anyone’s guess after hearing that from the multi-millionaire businessman who has played as much a part in the shambles as them.
    READ MORE CHELSEA
Boehly is into his third manager less than a year after taking over when he touted the ticket of long termism.
Almost £26million spent on paying off two managers in less than seven months.
He has splashed £600m on a record-breaking, mad-dash shopping spree for new players which has taken the club from third at the end of last season to 11th now.
That dressing room he went into at the weekend is a very crowded place, with 31 players in the senior squad according to the club website.

If Chelsea fail to offload their unwanted stars quickly this summer to balance the books, the spectre of Financial Fair Play looms on the horizon.
Unless those struggling  players can deliver a minor miracle tonight against Real Madrid, Boehly can forget about the handy income stream of European football next season.
It is a vast understatement to say that Boehly’s debut year in English football has not gone exactly to plan.
Stamford Bridge is an overcrowded, frustrated place and if it was not for Frank Lampard stepping in to help out as interim boss, the team would be rudderless.
Some people at Chelsea say the visit by Boehly, co-owner Behdad Eghbali and Swiss financier Hansjorg Wyss shows they are all in it together.
Others might see it as a total lack of self-awareness. The pot calling the kettle black.
Either way, Lampard says he has an open-door policy to anyone from the higher echelons of the club who wants to chip in to help turn things around.
Ahead of battling to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat in their Champions League quarter-final with holders Real, Lamps said: “I remember the moments as a player of owners first coming into the dressing room.
“It first happened at Chelsea, never anywhere else before, and I remember being really happy that they were there.
“You could touch them, you could high five them and listen to them and feel them.
Kepa was one of the players that spoke with the owner after the defeat to BrightonCredit: Getty
“That’s not a bad thing in terms of the identity of the club and where you are wanting to get to.
“These are just passionate owners who want to bring a real vision to the club. And we are probably at the early stage of the process in those terms.
“We want to rise and stay at the very top of the game and, at the moment, we are just off that level.
“People always question everything in the beginning and the early stages and at any part of the process.
“There is an important stage with the way we are working — we just want to get our heads down and get on with the things in front of us.
“Passion is normal. I  don’t think that it is a problem. And I certainly don’t find it a problem.”
The simmering turbulence on the terraces culminated on Saturday with American Boehly getting a mouthful from an irate fan leaning precariously over the railings from his seat a tier above the chairman to vent his feelings.
Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was one of those who had a word with the top brass in the dressing room after their home defeat by Brighton — their fifth this season.
Kepa said: “Todd comes to the changing room in every game. He had different chats with us after different games. I am not going to say what he said. It is normal.
“Hopefully tomorrow we can involve all the fans, all of Stamford Bridge, deliver our best and make a different atmosphere to go through.
“It is not going to be easy. We have to go step by step and do the right thing in the beginning and then push as much as we can.
“What I can say is the atmosphere in the changing room, we are not happy, but the atmosphere is good.
“There is no fighting, nothing like this. We are trying to find a way to win the games.

Mo Salah breaks Liverpool legend’s unique record in 6-1 Premier League demolition job on Leeds

MOHAMED SALAH broke a unique Premier League record last night – and surpassed another Liverpool legend in doing so.The Egyptian forward grabbed a brace as the Reds thumped Leeds United 6-1 at Elland Road to end their five-game winless run.

Salah’s first was a thumping left-footed finish into the top corner to make it 2-0 just before the break.
And within seconds of that strike, the Premier League tweeted out confirmation that he was now the holder of the most goals with his left foot since the formation of the competition in 1992.
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler was the previous highest, with 105, but that first half effort took Salah’s tally to an incredible 106.
And it got even better for the former Chelsea and Roma ace in the 64th-minute.

Andy Robertson broke the wing and fed the ball across for Cody Gakpo, with the Dutchman then teeing up Salah to take a touch before curling home again with his left foot to move him onto 107.
That strike was also his 15th of the season in the top-flight and put more daylight between him and the rest of the left-footed sharpshooters.
With Fowler long-since retired, his nearest challenger now is Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez, who has scored 65 with his favoured foot.
Former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Robin van Persie is third behind Fowler with 94, while fellow United great Ryan Giggs is fourth on 83, one place ahead of fifth-placed Mahrez.

Salah’s latest record comes just two months after he established himself as Liverpool’s greatest scorer of the modern era.
He scored another brace in the epic 7-0 victory over United in March at Anfield.
And that meant that he had overtaken Fowler again to become their top Premier League goalscorer, with his total now at 133.

Cody Gakpo fired Liverpool into a 35th-minute lead before Mo Salah put them in control six minutes before the break.
Despite Luis Sinisterra momentarily putting the hosts back in the game. they could not handle Liverpool’s fast-paced attack as they pulled away.
Salah, Diogo Jota (two goals) and Darwin Nunez wrapped up the scoring after a scintillating second-half performance.
But Klopp was most impressed with the team’s “counter-pressing” which he hailed as the “best game in decades”.
