Harry Kane is ‘too old and expensive’ for Bayern Munich claims club legend in boost to Man Utd transfer hopes

HARRY KANE is “too old and expensive”, according to Bayern Munich club legend Lothar Matthaus. The England striker’s future is already the talk of the next transfer window with just over a year left on his contract.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United are believed to be the frontrunners for the Tottenham star.
But the German giants have been urged to swerve Kane by one of their former players.
Matthaus, who won the league five times in his two spells in Bavaria, believes Kane is not worth the cost at the age of 29 and prefers 24-year-old Victor Osimhen of Napoli.
He also believes that Spurs’ record top scorer, who will likely command a fee north of £100m, is too expensive.

Writing for Sky Deutschland, the 62-year-old said: “I’m excited to see if a new striker comes along.
“Everyone is talking about Victor Osimhen for his sensational performance at Napoli. You never know if he can do that in Munich, but I think he would be a good fit.
“Randal Kolo Muani may need a little more room and space than a Bayern striker usually has, but he’s also good in the box and could work in Munich. Harry Kane would be too old and too expensive for me.
“The price-performance ratio could speak for [Werder Bremen striker] Niclas Füllkrug. He would probably be available for €20-25 million [£17.6m-£22m] and score 25 goals in Munich.”

If Kane does not sign a new contract at Spurs, he would be available for free in the summer of 2024.
This has sparked speculation on his future and could give Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy a decision to make this summer.
Reports last month suggested that United have even received a boost due to Spurs reported interest in their goalkeeper Dean Henderson. More

And they repeated the mistake on Saturday as West Ham fought back from two goals down to also claim a point.
Defending champions City are now just four points behind Arsenal with a game in hand.
The two sides face each other next week in a winner-takes-all battle.
And with City on an eight-game winning run in the league, not many are betting against Pep Guardiola winning a fifth title in six years.

Former Gunner Petit has now hit out at Arteta’s tactical selection against West Ham.
He believes the Spaniard should have made his substitutions a lot earlier before the game got away.
Indeed, Petit reckons Arteta has actually shown signs of mismanagement by not rotating his squad properly in the last month.
But he has urged fans to remain patient, even if Arsenal don’t win the title, as Arteta is still young and might need to learn his lessons the hard way.

Petit told Legal Sportsbooks: “Recently yes [Arteta hasn’t rotated enough]. I think it was the same against Liverpool.
“He took some time to make subs and some players should have been involved earlier.
“The likes of Trossard, who has been brilliant since he joined. Arteta has his first XI in mind and wats to stay with them because he thinks they have been unbelievable since the beginning.
“He’s probably thinking ‘why should I change them?’ Because they were winning game after game?
“I can understand but in the meantime, as he’s such a young manager, maybe he has to learn as well from that.” More

Rafael Benitez proud of ‘extremely good’ Chelsea manager spell after ‘more than fulfilling objectives’

He replaced the popular Roberto Di Matteo and received a hostile reception from fans when he first joined the club, which involved protests against his appointment.
Benitez guided Chelsea to a Europa League triumph and a top four finish in the Premier League before leaving at the end of the season with Jose Mourinho filling his shoes.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Benitez told the Telegraph that he looks back at his spell there with fondness and cited his Liverpool links for his unpopularity.
He said: “It’s not lost on anyone that [Roman] Abramovich’s Chelsea were the strongest team in the Premier League when I arrived at Liverpool.

“We competed with them and beat them in the Champions League several times, those games had a lot of tension and it’s not easy for a fan to forget the emotional part.
“Fortunately, we more than fulfilled our objectives of qualifying directly for the Champions League, and on top of that we also won the Europa League. I think everyone now sees it as a success.
“I have said it many times, we behaved like professionals at all times and the club treated us very well, from the owner to the last employee.
“Our memory of that time at Chelsea is, honestly, extremely good.”

Frank Lampard’s side face one of the 63-year-old’s former clubs in Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League this evening.
Ahead of the match, Benitez has backed the current interim boss to do well, saying: “It was a surprise for everyone [re-appointing Lampard], but he has been there for many years and knows the players.
“It’s a risky gamble that we will only be able to assess, as almost always, at the end.
“He has a great squad at his disposal, he knows the Premier League, he knows the staff and the fans will give him more leeway than another manager because he was a great player there.
“He can give them more peace of mind in the short-term.”
Benitez is currently out of work and he claims that he has declined the chance to come back into Prem management.
However, he does still want to return to English football. More

Liverpool transfer target is ‘better than Jude Bellingham in EVERY way’, claims Van der Vaart

LIVERPOOL have been advised to sign Bayern Munich outcast Ryan Gravenberch because he is better than Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham “in every way”.That is according to Rafael van der Vaart, who insists Gravenberch outclasses Bellingham even though the England international has been linked with all of Europe’s top hitters.

The midfielder was targeted by the Reds but manager Jurgen Klopp decided to pull the plug after Dortmund kept raising his staggering release clause, which reached a whopping £130million.
The Merseysiders have since been linked with Gravenberch, who continues to struggle for minutes at Bayern under Thomas Tuchel just like he did during Julian Nagelsmann’s tenure.
However, Van der Vaart, who is known for his strong opinions in the Netherlands, is adamant that his fellow Dutchman would be a much smarter deal than Bellingham for Liverpool.
The ex-Tottenham star believes the 20-year-old would pay dividends in the Premier League because he is more physical than the Dortmund star.

Van der Vaart said: “Do you know what the most important thing is when you go to a new club? The first two weeks.
“You have to show in every training, every practice game that you are a rightful purchase.
“For Gravenberch, it would actually be good to rent him out to Ajax again.

But Los Blancos chiefs are keen on a free transfer return when his deal expires, with the club expecting to lose either Luka Modric or Toni Kroos next year.
The third player Real want is Mason Mount, also out of contract in 2024.
Carlo Ancelotti would prefer to make a move this summer as the England man, 24, stalls on signing a new Chelsea deal.
But Real are also willing to bide their time and land Mount for nothing next year should the Blues play hardball over a fee.
Finally, the Spaniards are also exploring a move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, 27.
They are big fans of the ace’s versatility as a central midfielder and right-sider.
Like Mount, he is being targeted this summer but could also end up going on a free transfer in 2024. More
