Cristian Stellini had been placed in charge while the club looks for a new manager.
However, the Italian coach has not been able to turn the club’s form around.
With Stellini at the helm, Spurs have only won one of four games and suffered morale-crushing defeats to Bournemouth and Newcastle.
There are now doubts over his future at the club following the embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Newcastle – with reports that he was hauled in for showdown talks.

This has led to Redknapp, 76, declaring his interest in taking the role on a temporary basis.
He told talkSPORT: “It is very unlikely they come knocking, I will be honest with you.
“But if they did then, of course, I would take it.

Redknapp managed Spurs between 2008-2012 and famously guided them to the Champions League.
He won 98 of his 198 games in charge of the club during a decent spell.

However, he has not managed since retiring from football following a 13-game spell in charge of Birmingham City in 2017.
A more obvious candidate if Spurs are to appoint another interim manager is Ryan Mason.
The former player has taken charge of the side before, seeing the club to the end of the season after Jose Mourinho was fired.

Victor Lindelof was the hero as he sealed a 7-6 shoot-out victory after a tense 120 minutes.
Fernandes, who was slammed for “sitting on his bum and not tracking back” by Danny Murphy, looked upset by the decision to take him off before Erik ten Hag decided to speak with him

Fernandes managed to play on until he was withdrawn in the 101st-minute.

“You can take painkillers or anti-inflams and get through, he did really well to be fair.
“I thought he might not come out in the second half he lasted a lot longer.
“He was heavily strapped and its a case now of icing it, resting it. You can recover quite quickly providing the actual injury isn’t too bad.”
Ten Hag refused to give much away regarding the condition of Fernandes but both he and the club’s fans are desperate for him to be fully-recovered ahead of the run-in.

The Times reports that the person alleged to have stolen the artwork, Nabila Habiby, is said to have used some of the art as security to apply for a loan.
The publication also reports that the Metropolitan police charged Habiby in December with a trial set to take place in January at Wood Green Crown Court.
Habiby, from Belgium, was reportedly charged with offences of theft and two of fraud by false representation.
She is believed to have denied wrongdoing.

The art that was allegedly stolen is reported to include works of London street artist Paul Insect, who became popular for his spray paint craft.
Habiby is alleged to have stolen 35 pieces of Insect’s art between 2014 and 2016, collectively valued at £152,000.
The artwork of American artist Ron English, dubbed the ‘Godfather of Street Art’, is also alleged to have been stolen.
Davids, 50, is believed to have been made aware of alleged thefts in 2017 and reported them to police.

It was when Davids was living in North London that the Dutch legend caused a sensation by becoming player manager for League 2 side Barnet.
But despite his best efforts he could not save them from relegation and resigned halfway through their first season in the fifth tier.

Despite his memorable playing career for the likes of Ajax, AC Milan and Juventus, Davids has not enjoyed the best time in management.
His next job after Barnet was seven years later at Portuguese minnows Olhanense.

The Pope’s favourite footballer revealed to be unlikely Man Utd star – and fans think it’s what makes him so good

THE POPE’S shock favourite footballer has been revealed – and he plays for the Red Devils. But delighted Manchester United fans suggested the holy approval is why he has been in such strong form for club and country this season.
Pope Francis has revealed who his favourite footballer isCredit: Reuters
Pope Francis told his staff the player he enjoys watching the most is Lisandro Martinez ahead of Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham’s visit to the Vatican.
Burnham passed on the information to United and a “humbled and thrilled” Martinez.
And in turn, the club arranged for a signed No6 shirt to be sent with Burnham to be delivered to the head of the Catholic Church.
The defender, 25, wrote: “Su Santidad, con mucho carino, LM,” which translates to: “Your holiness, with much love, Licha.”

And now The Athletic report Martinez could make a visit to Rome to meet the Pope in person.
Both men were born and raised in Argentina, with Martinez playing a key role in the national team winning the World Cup in December.
One fan said of the United star: “No wonder he’s too good a defender because he knows the Lord is watching him.”
That is despite his no-nonsense, aggressive defending style that sees Martinez unafraid to clatter through opposition players, earning him the famous ‘Butcher’ nickname.

Another wrote: “Pope Francis knows ball.”
But one joker quipped: “Don’t believe it… surely Nick Pope would be his favourite!”
However, some United supporters are praying for a miraculous healing for their top centre-back as Pope sent his best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
Martinez fractured a metatarsal in his foot in the 2-2 draw with Sevilla this month and has been ruled out until the new season.
He underwent surgery last week and updated fans from his hospital bed.
The ex-Ajax man said: “Everything went really well, thanks to God!
“Many thanks for all of your messages. Now focusing on the recovery.”

Steven Gerrard warned against ‘unwise’ move to Greece after Liverpool legend is linked with Olympiacos manager job

LIVERPOOL legend Steven Gerrard has been warned to avoid a move to Greece, reports suggest.Gerrard has been linked with Olympiacos, who are actively looking for a new head coach following the departure of their third manager this season.

According to The Mail, however, “insiders” from Greece claim the former Aston Villa manager, who has been out of a job since October, would be “unwise” to take on the role.
That is not because of Olympiacos, who have won a whopping 10 titles in the last 13 years and have made it through to the knockout stages in Europe 13 times in their last 15 attempts.
Gerrard has been warned in the wake of reported corruption within the country’s football.
This comes after a Polish referee denied “fake news” claiming he and three other officials arrived drunk and fought other passengers at the airport before officiating a match in Greece.
    Read More on Football
First official Pawel Raczkowski, his assistants Radoslaw Siejka as well as Adam Kupcik and VAR ref Krzysztof Jakubik have categorically denied those allegations and stated they were in fact the ones assaulted.
The ref added that he was “spat” at in the face and “pushed” by the alleged assailants until security intervened.
However, English head of the Greek refereeing committee Steve Bennet still replaced the Polish quartet with a Greek team for the crucial play-off clash between AEK and Aris earlier this month.
Greek referees don’t officiate derbies or play-off matches in the country following a long history of shady calls.

The incident has led to an investigation by UEFA, who have initiated disciplinary proceedings.
It also resulted in a fiery reaction from Olympiacos towards EPO – the Greek football governing body – president Takis Baltakos as well as Bennett
The Greek giants described the body as a “corruption ring” and hinted they will take the matter to court.
There are currently no concrete developments between Gerrard and Olympiacos but a deal would still be possible.
That is because of the good relationship between the 42-year-old tactician and club owner Evangelos Marinakis, who is also in charge of Premier League club Nottingham Forest. More

Alexander Isak averages a Premier League goal every 97 minutes this season – a viable Dream Team option?

SUNDAY’S game at St James’ Park was billed as a tense contest between two top-four hopefuls but what actually materialised was a one-sided demolition job.Newcastle were 3-0 up on Tottenham within nine minutes and 5-0 up within 22 minutes.
The final result was 6-1 but the game was decided during the opening exchanges as the visitors pathetically crumbled amid a Geordie cauldron of noise.
Naturally, many pundits have focused on Spurs’ embarrassing shortcomings but here at Dream Team HQ we feel it’s worth highlighting Alexander Isak’s (£4.2m) merits.
    A precise finisherCredit: GETTY
The Sweden international scored a brace on Sunday, latching onto Joe Willock’s (£2m) supreme pass before he slotted past Hugo Lloris (£3.3m) only to again beat the beleaguered Frenchman from a tight angle moments later.
The 23-year-old has now scored ten Premier League goals in 15 appearances (eleven starts).
This impressive strike rate boils down further to a goal every 97.3 minutes in the top flight.
By way of a comparison, Harry Kane (£8.6m), who scored his 24th league goal of the season by way of a consolation strike in the second half, averages a goal every 119.5 minutes in the league this term.
Isak’s first season with Newcastle has been disrupted by injuries but he’s been ruthlessly efficient in front of goal when available.
And his Dream Team stats make for impressive reading too.
    Most read in Football
His overall tally of 82 points looks modest but that’s only because of his limited involvement this campaign.
What’s telling is his average of 4.1 points-per-game when selected, a rate bettered by only seven other forwards in 2022/23.
Gabriel Martinelli (£4.8m), who has 174 points overall and is the sixth-best asset in his position, also averages 4.1 points-per-game.
Isak couldn’t believe Spurs’ defending in the first halfCredit: GETTY
Dream Team gaffers should certainly be thinking about Isak’s viability for next season as it looks highly likely he’ll have European fixtures to bolster his schedule but is he also an option for the remainder of the current campaign?
Generally, Newcastle defenders have been the ones to provide regular healthy returns but Howe’s side have scored 15 goals in five games this month so far with their attack-minded players coming to the fore.
A 13-point haul at Spurs’ expense means Isak has plundered 56 in his last seven outings.
And there could be more returns to come as the Magpies face Everton and Southampton in their next two games, two teams currently in the relegation zone.
Isak’s ownership currently sits at 1.7% so he’s a viable differential for those who need an out-of-the-box option. More
