Fired-up Noel Gallagher says ‘that is mental’ to talkSPORT host during row over Sir Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola

NOEL GALLAGHER insists it would be “mental” to brand Pep Guardiola a failure if he doesn’t guide Manchester City to Champions League glory. The Spaniard came agonisingly close to steering City to success in Europe’s premier club competition in May 2021 – losing an all-Premier League final against Chelsea.

Guardiola’s failure to lift the Champions League trophy with City’s vast millions at his disposal has many footy fans holding Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson in higher regard than him – including footy pundit Andy Goldstein.
That notion, however, rattled City fan Gallagher – who told talkSPORT: “Alex Ferguson never invented anything. Pep Guardiola changed football.”
Goldstein was quick to point out Fergie’s legendary record, saying: “He has won the treble. He has 13 Premier League titles.”
Oasis star Gallagher then, incorrectly, said: “He never did it in any other country, did he?”

Ferguson, of course, guided Aberdeen to three Scottish First Division titles and the European Cup Winner’s Cup, breaking the Old Firm duopoly.
Gallagher, 55, then proceeded to downplay United’s Champions League triumphs in 1999 and 2008.
He said: “Well, the greatest manager of all time, jammed two Champions League finals, one on penalties and one in injury time.”
Goldstein then pointed out to Gallagher other than the 2021 final, that Guardiola hasn’t come close to winning the Champions League in over a decade.

He then asked: “For argument’s sake, if Guardiola leaves Man City without winning the Champions League, is he a failure?”
Gallagher burst out into laughter as he said: “That is mental. Failure?
    “What are you talking about?
“He has changed the way that football is played in this country. And probably every country he has ever been in.
“Everyone plays out from the back, kids are doing it and they don’t even know what it means.
“But they do it, because he does it. He is a tactical genius.”
Manchester City will be back in action at the Etihad this evening for a Premier League title race six-pointer against current table toppers Arsenal. More

Officials are set to fly to Italy as the Blues begin planning for a summer overhaul.
The Evening Standard say Chelsea want Onana to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy in goal.
Owner Todd Boehly is looking to trim his inflated squad and it’s claimed a swap deal involving Lukaku could be on the cards.
And that would allow Kepa and Mendy – who have each failed to assert themselves a No 1 – to depart.

And the Italians could elect to send the Belgian back to Stamford Bridge and demand a fee for Onana.
The Cameroonian stopper has impressed in Serie A this season, conceding only 18 goals in 20 matches.

Lukaku can reportedly stay next year on loan again for the same £7million loan fee and £165,000-a-week wages, roughly half his Chelsea contract, but Boehly may prefer to sell him for good.

Ronaldo joined the Red Devils for the first time in 2003.
He arrived as a skinny teenager with bags of raw talent and potential – and loved showboating his tricks.
But former United midfielder Gordon Strachan revealed the experienced first-team stars were not afraid to make their feelings known to Ronaldo.
And he thinks Antony may well have got similar treatment.
    READ MORE ON RONALDO
Strachan said: “Antony reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo, although it’s never good to compare.
“It seems to me that he thinks he’s him, but I don’t think he’s as good as Ronaldo. He plays with the ball too much.
“When Ronaldo arrived at Manchester United for the first time, there were people in the team who told him the truth.
“‘Sorry, we don’t want you dancing around with the ball when you can cross earlier. Use your skills in areas where you can produce something useful. We’re not here to see you play.'”

Ronaldo buckled down under Sir Alex Ferguson to become one of the best players in the world, winning three Premier Leagues, the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or before his world-record transfer to Real Madrid in 2009.
Antony, meanwhile, arrived from Ajax for a whopping £85.5m.
He was quick to bring his creative flair – including his ‘fidget spinner’ move – but has struggled for goals and assists in his debut season.
Ex-Scotland boss Strachan added: “If you’re genuinely doing it for the team, that’s fine.
“If you’re doing it for yourself, you might as well stop it.
“It’s the kind of thing Neymar does. He does it for him. You’ll never see top players doing it, trying to ridicule the opponents they are playing.
“They do it for the team with humility.
“Ronaldo realised this early in his career and still understands it.
“In recent weeks we have been able to witness some magical things from Antony, but you have to be a good team-mate.”

    Sublime Saka
Bukayo Saka will be the man Arsenal turn to for this huge Premier League encounter.
And despite Gabriel Martinelli being top goal scorer, Saka’s contributions in the big games has helped the Gunners to be top for so long.

    Arteta’s Haaland master plan
Mikel Arteta believes that he knows Manchester City’s weaknesses and that the team have been working on trying to stop Haaland from scoring.
The Gunners boss said: “We are working on their threats and their weaknesses. We know what they are. With City it starts with the goalkeeper. Just focus on us.
“We know what they can do. They can do so many things that you have to be adaptable.
“You can’t compare him [Haaland] to anything else. He is able to do that because the set-up is suited to him and he has good players around him.
“With him they have the capacity to play in a different way.
“You can’t give anything away. Big teams will punish you if you give things away and we have done that before.”
    Hungry Haaland
Erling Haaland is one goal away from smashing the Premier League goal scoring record as he currently sits on 32 and he’ll be eager to break it tonight.
Rob Holding will have his hands full trying to mark the Norwegian machine.

    On the last episode
Manchester City have already beaten Arsenal twice this season but the February defeat was arguably more damming.
Pep Guardiola’s men briefly returned to the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 victory at the Emirates.
Kevin de Bruyne intercepted Takehiro Tomiyasu’s back pass before lobbing Aaron Ramsdale to put City ahead.
But Bukayo Saka equalised from the penalty spot sending the Arsenal crowd into meltdown after what was a shaky start.
However, Jack Grealish broke Gunners hearts with a coolly slotted finish in the second half.
And Erling Haaland secured his customary goal late on which resulted in knocking Arsenal temporarily off the top spot.
    Tale of the tape
Here is a comparison of Manchester City’s figures up against Arsenal’s including who has scored the most goals for their club this season.
City’s top scorer isn’t hard to guess.

Welcome to Man City vs Arsenal

Going on form, you would have to put Manchester City as favoruites and in the drivers seat to lift the title.
They are undefeated in their last 15 matches across all competition which includes beating Arsenal at the Emirates and a win would close the Gunners’ gap at the top to just two points with two games in hand over their title rivals.
While Arsenal have falling down a slippery slope as the 3-3 with Southampton last Friday was their third consecutive Premier League draw.
However, Mikel Arteta’s incentive to win this match is that they could open up a eight point lead at the summit.
And Arsenal would massively feel as if they have one hand on the trophy at that point as City still wouldn’t overtake them even if Pep’s men were to win all of their games in hand.
This match is expected to be one for the history books and it is not to be missed.
Stay tuned as coming up we’ll have all of the latest from the build up, team news and the starting line-ups before the huge kick-off at 8pm.

And if the prediction is accurate, then we should be in for a match worthy of its crown as a “title decider”.
ChatGPT was asked for a match prediction by NeueOnlineCasinos.io.
In the AI’s report Arsenal will open the scoring against the run of play after 20 minutes courtesy of a Bukayo Saka led counter-attack, concluded with Gabriel Jesus firing home against his old side.
This goal will leave the hosts staggered with Pep Guardiola’s side entering half-time a goal down, but only after Ederson prevented Gabriel Martinelli from doubling the lead.

However, City will then find an equaliser through Kevin De Bruyne in the 65th minute to pay dividends for their increased intensity after the interval.
Erling Haaland will then bag his 33rd goal of the season and break the Premier League goalscoring record by pouncing on a loose ball in the box.
And this 80th minute goal will prove to be the decisive strike as City’s defence hold firm for the remainder of the tie.
Should this result come true, Man City will close the gap to Arsenal to just two points with two games in hand.

However, an Arsenal win would give Mikel Arteta’s side a potentially vital eight point gap.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola will be without the services of Nathan Ake, who is out with a hamstring injury.

“I’ve spent a lot of time on grass but, probably more importantly for me, the people I’ve worked with and come across have accelerated my growth as an individual.
“There are many people I trust and value their opinion in this training center and also outside who I am always in communication with.”
Mason missed out on the permanent job in 2021 as the club opted to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo as Mourinho’s successor.

He said: “Honestly, for me I feel ready. I know I am ready. If that situation happens, it obviously means we’ve done a good job.
“That’s fast-forwarding four or five weeks. The immediate thought is the game on Thursday and the game on Sunday.
