      Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag delivers brutal blow to Harry Maguire as he calls Bruno Fernandes ‘our captain’

      The England centre-back missed that Premier League match with what Ten Hag called a “training injury”.
      But over the previous three weeks Maguire had reignited hopes of staying beyond the summer.
      His has stood in for crocked regulars Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez and helped the Red Devils move six points clear of fifth-placed Spurs.
      In Maguire’s absence, Luke Shaw once more switched inside from left-back to partner Victor Lindelof at Tottenham.

      But having swaggered to a 2-0 lead through Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, United were pegged back by Spurs’ second-half transformation.
      Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min earned a draw that meant the Red Devils fell two points behind Newcastle in third spot.
      And ahead of that clash Ten hag revealed his delight at Fernandes shaking off an injury suffered in last Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final success over Brighton.
      The Dutchman said: “He’s tough, he takes responsibility, he wants to play and, of course, we’re happy he’s there because he’s a big players for us and he makes a big impact in every game.

      “He’s our captain, so we’re really happy.”
      Maguire, however, might not be quite as pleased if he hears those words.
      Yet Ten Hag did not held back from praising him earlier this month – describing the ex-Leicester hero as like a new player compared to the start of the season. 
      After a 2-0 defeat of Everton at Old Trafford on April 8, he said: “Maguire was dominating, dictating.

      Manchester United had started the game strong, with goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford giving the team a 2-0 lead at half-time.
      But Antony was not on the level of his team-mates during the first-half.
      After buying the 23-year-old for £82 million in August, the Red Devils have struggled to get a consistent tune out of the ex-Ajax winger.
      He has shown flashes of brilliance but has been criticised for blowing hot and cold, as well as his on-pitch antics.

      And now boss Ten Hag has been seen losing his temper after the winger went to ground early on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking for a free-kick.
      No free-kick was given but Antony remained on the floor, causing Ten Hag to shout at the player to get up and play.
      Antony didn’t argue but struggled to find his rhythm during the rest of the game as Spurs hit back to make it 2-2.
      He was taken off before the final whistle, replaced by Wout Weghorst.

      The incident comes a week after he put in a poor performance during United’s match against Sevilla last Thursday, resulting in United being dumped out of the Europa League.
      But fans blasted Ten Hag’s handling of the game on Twitter, with many questioning the last-minute substitutions.
      One wrote: “One more mufc lead bottled because of Ten Hag’s overthinking.”
      Another typed: “Ten Hag gotta learn to stop taking Antony off, when has that ever worked in our favour.”

      Todd Boehly and Co are set to negotiate a deal with a new sponsor, and have received plenty of interest despite Chelsea’s awful season.
      According to Sky News, German insurance giants Allianz are in talks with the Blues over striking a deal.
      Allianz are said to be one of a number of companies looking to replace Three on Chelsea shirts.
      Fans will recognise Allianz as title sponsors of Bayern Munich, Juventus and Minnesota United’s respective stadiums.

      Blues chiefs have been confident in their abilities to negotiate a more lucrative deal than the £40m previously agreed with Three.
      But their dreadful campaign is likely to see the sum decrease from what it could have been had they secured a Champions League place.
