Jamie Carragher hilariously calls out Kasper Schmeichel on Sky Sports MNF and warns: ‘You can’t say that as a pundit’

JAMIE CARRAGHER hilariously called out Kasper Schmeichel during his maiden appearance on Monday Night Football.Schmeichel, who left Leicester last summer after 11 years at the King Power, was on Sky Sports as a pundit to run the rule over his old side as they took on Everton.

Ahead of the 2-2 draw, Carragher asked Schmeichel who the leaders in their dressing room would be amid the Foxes’ struggles.
After reeling off names including James Maddison, Jonny Evans and Youri Tielemans, the 36-year-old referred to Leicester as “we”.
Presenter Dave Jones pointed out what Schmeichel had said.
And Carragher laughed as he wagged his finger at the Dane and said: “You can’t say that as a pundit, you can’t say we.”

Schmeichel smiled as he sheepishly responded: “I’m not a pundit yet.”
The goalkeeper quit Leicester for Nice, owned by Manchester United hopefuls INEOS, last year.

On what Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co are like as owners, Schmeichel explained: “One of the biggest reasons that I joined Nice was because of INEOS and because of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, their vision and how they want to evolve their sports.
“Because they’ve been successful, not just in business, but in every other sporting venture they’ve thrown their investment at. I think with Manchester United particularly, Jim [Ratcliffe] is a big fan of the club and that speaks a lot to fans.

“He’s someone coming in who cares deeply about the club. From my own experience at Nice, he’s a man who is present, he comes to games, a guy that’s knowledgeable about football and who has a vast knowledge about performance in general.
“He has people like Dave Brailsford working for him, who again, are present and I think that’s the main thing with any club I’ve played at, look at Leicester, for example, the owners are present and there is not a divide.
“So I think – and I’m biased hoping INEOS are the preferred bidders – let’s wait and see.”
Schmeichel also offered his take on where things went wrong for Brendan Rodgers at Leicester this term.
He said: “Brendan is one of the best managers I’ve ever seen up close. I only have good things to say about him.
“When you hear the same message over and over again sometimes the message might not have the same impact even if it’s the right message. That happens sometimes in managerial cycles.
“Only time will tell. Particularly the first two years of Brendan being there it’s the best football as a club Leicester’s ever played.”

That meant going to work for billionaire Ratcliffe whose company INEOS has a huge portfolio of sporting projects that include Formula One, cycling and the Ligue 1 club.
Ratcliffe is currently in talks with the Glazer family alongside Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani over the sale of United with a preferred bidder believed to be close to being announced after three rounds of bidding.
Now Schmeichel, whose father Peter earned legendary status playing for the Red Devils, has offered fans of United an inside look at what it is like working for Britain’s wealthiest man.
The stopper, who was a guest on Sky Sports Monday Night Football to watch Leicester’s 2-2 draw with Everton, said: “One of the biggest reasons that I joined Nice was because of INEOS and because of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, their vision and how they want to evolve their sports.

Schmeichel endured a difficult time when he first joined Nice, with his early performances questioned and at one point he was dropped to the bench.
Despite that tough start, he has since managed to show the qualities he brought to Leicester over a decade with the Foxes.
Schmeichel added about Ratcliffe: “He has people like Dave Brailsford working for him, who again, are present and I think that’s the main thing with any club I’ve played at, look at Leicester, for example, the owners are present and there is not a divide.

Seamus Coleman’s incredible gesture while being stretchered off praised for summing up ‘warrior’ Everton captain

SEAMUS COLEMAN somehow still had his club’s fortunes at the forefront of his mind even after sustaining a potentially career-ending injury. The Republic of Ireland captain had to be stretchered off in the first half of The Toffees’ relegation six-pointer against Leicester City on Monday night.

Unfortunately, it looks to be a serious knee injury after he landed awkwardly having challenged Boubakary Soumare for the ball.
In a moment that sums up why he’s such a universally respected figure on both sides of the Irish Sea though, he immediately tried to gee up his teammates as he was carried off the pitch.
Coleman, who has just returned from a month out with a hamstring injury, was rushed to hospital with a protective leg-brace on, hobbling to a people-carrier on crutches.
He was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for scans.

The 34-year-old was widely praised for the incredibly selfless presence of mind he showcased at such a devastating moment for him personally.
One fan wrote: “If only we had 11 Seamus Colemans out there, what a warrior he has been and continues to be.”
While someone else added: “Our skipper! Everton legend no matter what happens.”
Finally, another commentator noted: “If you wanted to capture Seamus Coleman’s career – one of unbreakable selfless leadership through the hardest of battles – this would probably be it.

“He deserved trophies and glory, he didn’t get either, but has always chosen to fight like a champ with the hand he’s dealt.”
The rest of the match was thoroughly entertaining fare as the two strugglers played out an end-to-end 2-2 draw.
    EVENTFUL MINUTE
Everton should have sealed the three points through Dominic Calvert-Lewin late on only for their injury-plagued hitman to produce a miss-of-the-season contender.
With the ball played across the face of goal, he had the whole net at his mercy from point-blank range.
But the 11-cap England man somehow connected with his heel and miscued it at Foxes goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, who appeared to be helplessly stranded at his near post.
The Danish stopper kicked the ball away to safety before Leicester, leading 2-1 having fallen behind, raced away on the counter-attack.
Jamie Vardy turned Michael Keane inside out before dinking the ball over Jordan Pickford but against the bar in a dramatic passage of play.
The result leaves the Merseyside outfit languishing in 19th position – but still only one point behind The Foxes and Leeds in 16th and 17th respectively. More

Thiago, who has struggled with a hip flexor injury for much of the second half of the season, was not named in Liverpool’s matchday squad for the 4-3 victory against Spurs.
As Nunez prepared to come on, however, Thiago hopped out from behind the bench to seemingly deliver some final instructions to his team-mate.
The Uruguayan appeared to appreciate whatever the Spaniard said, responding by kissing his forehead.
As he did so, a bemused-looking Klopp delivered a withering look towards his experienced midfielder.

Others claimed that Thiago was merely translating for Nunez, who has been taking English lessons once a week this season.
While it was also pointed out that the 23-year-old went on to lose Richarlison as the Brazilian equalised for Spurs in stoppage time.
Speaking about Nunez’s fortunes last month, Klopp admitted: “We were not stable for a long time in this season.
“Then on top of the problems we had you’ve got boys adapting to different types of defending.
“If football was so easy that you just put 11 players with the most potential out on the pitch and just hope it works out then you wouldn’t need me or another manager.
“It’s about fine tuning it and that’s what we’re doing.
“After this season there’s another season and that’s already in my mind as well. Darwin can play both positions really well 100 per cent. Learning English will help him massively.”

Sunday’s 4-1 defeat at Bournemouth was the club’s five-straight loss and only goal difference separates them from 18th-placed Nottingham Forest.
Now owner Andrea Radrizzani, who told a fan that he is “responsible for this s***” after Leeds suffered a fifth-straight defeat, has pulled the trigger with just four games left to save their Premier League status.
That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who tweeted: “Sam Allardyce will be appointed as new Leeds United coach until the end of current season, confirmed.
Javi Gracia will be sacked in the next hours as expected. Club director Victor Orta also set to part ways with the club.”

Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen are among United’s targets as they chase a new No9.
And according to Sky Germany, the Red Devils are eager to sign French international Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt.
United face plenty of competition for the 24-year-old’s signature – with Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Tottenham all interested.
Bayern are particularly keen, having failed to adequately replace Robert Lewandowski after the Pole’s exit for Barcelona last summer.

But it is United reportedly making the biggest push.
And according to reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils consider Kolo Muani an even higher priority than Napoli hot-shot Osimhen.
The 6ft 2in ace hails from Parisian suburb Bondy, the same hometown as Kylian Mbappe and William Saliba.
He has scored 13 Bundesliga goals this season, as well as a further two in the Champions League.

Randal Kolo Muani has been in red-hot form in the Bundesliga this season
Kolo Muani joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer from Nantes last summer, having helped Les Canaris win the Coupe de France last term.
His impressive form saw him earn his maiden France call-up last year, and he went on to be named in Didier Deschamps’ 26-man World Cup squad – coming off the bench in the final.
With Tottenham virtually out of the top four race, United are confident of sealing a deal for Kane in their striker hunt.
But they are keen to avoid a summer transfer saga and could look to other targets should Spurs drag their heels. More
