Allardyce, 68, is back in the Premier League after a two-year absence.
Football’s iconic tactician has been tasked with saving Leeds from the drop.
The Elland Road side are in 17th place after a dismal run, leading to Javi Gracia’s dismissal.
And Allardyce knows he needs to find results against Man City, Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs to keep Leeds in the top flight.

Big Sam is certainly feeling confident after saving the likes of Sunderland and Crystal Palace in previous seasons.
Indeed, he reckons he is ahead of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp in “football terms.”
And Allardyce showed he will not be taking any prisoners after a reporter’s embarrassing gaffe in Wednesday’s presser.
The journalist’s mobile phone began to ring as Allardyce delivered his initial thoughts on the mammoth task ahead.

Without missing a beat, he said: “That’s a fine, by the way. 10 quid to charity.”
The journalist then agreed to donate a tenner to the Leeds United foundation, receiving thanks from Allardyce in the process.

Man City 3 West Ham 0: Foden scores 1,000th goal of Guardiola’s reign to leapfrog Arsenal back to top of Premier League

ON THE eve of this match, Pep Guardiola compared Erling Haaland to Lionel Messi. The Manchester City boss was referring to his Norwegian striker’s relentless mentality and appetite for goals, rather than the Argetinian’s subtle mastery of a football.

Yet when his latest record-breaking goal arrived, Haaland finished with a glorious deftness of touch which spoke of the little Argentine maestro himself.
This saucy little chip was Haaland’s 35th Premier League goal of the season – taking him clear of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole as the highest scorer in a single campaign in this competition’s 31-year history.
It was certainly not a typical Haaland goal but then this insatiable Norseman scores all sorts of goals.
And this is a 22-year-old rookie we are talking about. As his boss said, he is only likely to get better.

After Nathan Ake had nodded City in front early in the second half, Haaland’s strike ensured that City would head back to the top of the Premier League, with a game in hand on challengers Arsenal.
So in summary, and forgive me if you’ve read this before, Haaland scored, Haaland broke a record, City won and they’re heading for a fifth title in six years.
Only this time their giant forward left the pitch running through a classy guard of honour from his team-mates and the City coaching staff after full-time.
This was their ninth straight league win and their 19th unbeaten match in all competitions.

They were nowhere near their best yet far too good for a patched-up, unambitious West Ham – who have lost three in a row and are not yet quite safe.
Still, Guardiola has a tough week ahead of him in his quest for the Treble.
He must go head-to-head with Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti, who has four European Cups as a boss, and Sam Allardyce, who thinks he should have four European Cups.
Leeds visit the Etihad on Saturday and Big Sam is back, having assured us he is on the same level as Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp – so there is still hope for Arsenal.
With Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Nayef Aguerd all laid low by a sickness bug and hundreds of empty seats in the away end, it didn’t appear that the Hammers had travelled with much hope.
Although, the away allocation had been sold out before this fixture was switched from the weekend to midweek due to City’s Cup commitments.
Guardiola had made the unusual decision to bench Ederson and give his German back-up keeper Stefan Ortega a Premier League debut.
And in the unfamiliar spring sunshine, the first 25 minutes was played out at testimonial pace, the Etihad in soporific mood and Moyes happy to keep the tempo, and the defensive block, low.

City fashioned a couple of chances – a Riyad Mahrez shot was pushed wide by Lukasz Fabianski and a Jack Grealish centre found Haaland arriving late at the far post but he headed high and wide.
A long throw caught City dozing and Jarrod Bowen nipped in ahead of Ake for an angled shot which Ortega saved with his feet.
Suddenly, City cranked up a couple of gears and struck the woodwork twice in as many minutes.
Grealish, very much City’s make-it-happen man in the absence of the injured Kevin De Bruyne, received a clever switch-pass from John Stones and shot against the outside of the near post.
Then, when Haaland dropped deep and released Rodri with a neat pass, the Spanish midfielder drilled against the inside of the far post and the ball rolled to safety.
All in all, though, City were not moving the ball quick enough and nor were their minds whirring as rapidly as usual.
Having contained City so well, Moyes will have been furious with the way West Ham conceded within five minutes of the restart.
Flynn Downes, deputising for Rice, hacked down Grealish and was booked.

Mahrez floated the resulting free-kick to the back post, where Ake was left unmarked to nod home.
The Dutchman, who has made the left-back spot his own during the second half of the season, had missed the previous three games with a hamstring injury.
Yet the breakthrough didn’t make any difference to the atmosphere nor City’s performance levels.
West Ham forced a string of corners and as the stadium fell into near-silence, Guardiola – perhaps sensing some of that ‘Happy Flowers’ mentality – indulged in a spot of tetchy cheerleading.
All that changed when a careless West Ham pass was snapped up by Grealish who advanced and released the Viking with a cute through-ball.
Haaland timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap, and he scored with a deft pitching wedge of a shot, which Fabianski could only help on its way.
The Etihad erupted, this was the moment they had turned up expecting to see.
Then it all became extremely humdrum and routine again.

Soon, a corner was headed half-clear by Lucas Pacqueta but fell to sub Phil Foden, whose volley took a horrible deflection off Emerson Palmieri and gave Fabianski no chance.
It was the 1,000th goal City had scored in all competitions – and Haaland has more than five per cent of them already.

Haaland overtakes two England legends to break 28-year Prem record as team-mates give him unprecedented guard of honour

ERLING HAALAND has become the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer in a single season. The Manchester City ace has been devastating opposition defences all season, with West Ham being no exception.

Haaland’s record-breaking Prem season in numbers – so far
After being played in behind by Jack Grealish, Haaland found himself bearing down on goal with history beckoning.
And he did not need a second invitation to make history as he produced a beautiful chip over Lukasz Fabianski.
The goal puts the insatiable ace on 35 league goals for the season after playing just 31 games.
This return means he now stands alone as the division’s all-time leading scorer in a single season.

England legends Andy Cole and Alan Shearer both achieved a remarkable return of 34 apiece in the 1993/94 and 1994/95 seasons respectively – both 42-game seasons.
But now Haaland has proceeded to blow their records out of the water in a 38-game season, and with five games remaining to consolidate it further.
Following the match, Man City players and staff gave the 22-year-old a guard of honour before entering the tunnel.
His goal against West Ham also means he has scored in each of his last six consecutive league appearances.

The former Borussia Dortmund star’s strike was sandwiched by goals from Nathan Ake and Phil Foden in a routine 3-0 win.
The goals he has put up have been vital in ensuring City’s hunt for a third title in a row remained on track even when the rest of the team appeared to be faltering.
Critics prematurely declared earlier this season that City played worse with Haaland in the team.
However, a tactical shift from Pep Guardiola has allowed the squad to rediscover its groove, putting together nine wins on the spin in the league including a 4-1 win over former Prem leaders Arsenal.
Indeed, Haaland has now scored against 17 different teams this season, with only Brentford and Chelsea escaping his wrath thus far – though he will likely face both before the season’s end.
Haaland may also prove to be the missing piece of the puzzle as City aim for a historic treble.
The Norwegian has scored 12 goals in the Champions League, with potentially three more games to go as City gear up to face Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, he has also added three goals in as many games on the way to the FA Cup final.

Reacting to the achievement, Haaland told Sky Sports: “[It’s a] Special night and a special moment. I’m really happy and proud.”
Asked whether the record was on his mind, he replied: “Of course I knew about it but we tried to create the chances to score goals, they came here to try and defend for 90 minutes.
“It was an important win. You see what my first thought is, to run towards the goal.
“Me and Jack talked about it before the game, he wanted to give me the pass for the record goal.
“It was a perfect pass from Jack. It was a really perfect bounce before I chipped the ball, I didn’t think of it before I chipped it but the opportunity was there.”
Although Haaland admitted the guard of honour he received was actually quite “painful”.
He revealed: “It was really painful this guard of honour, everyone hit me in the back, but it was really nice. I’m really happy.”
On whether he can break Dixie Dean’s all-time record of goals for a top flight club – 63 in the 1927-28 season – he added: “We cannot keep thinking about these records, I will become crazy in my head.
“I will go home now and play some video games and tomorrow we will think about Leeds.”
However, with City hunting a Treble, he declared he would cast aside all of his individual awards in order to win three trophies.
Team-mate Ake lavished Haaland with praise after the game telling Sky Sports: “Yeah it’s crazy you know.
“The way he came in and does what he does every day and today again scoring the goals, he’s always there.
“And to be honest he deserves everything he gets because he’s a top player.”
Guardiola also joined in the praise for his talisman, saying: “He’s unbelievable, a unique person, he deserves the guard of honour because it’s an incredible milestone.
“Maybe one day he’ll break his record.”
Ex-City star Micah Richards added his own praise, telling Sky Sports: “Honestly, Erling Haaland is absolutely incredible. Astonishing scenes from a top, top individual.
“This is his debut season – to do what he has done is absolutely breathtaking.
“He’s so humble with it as well. He looks eager for more.

Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick tipped for huge managerial move if he fails to secure Premier League promotion

MICHAEL CARRICK has been tipped as “one to keep an eye on” regarding a vacant Premier League manager job.The Middlesbrough manager has enjoyed an incredible breakthrough season in the dug-out at the North East club.

Boro were sitting 21st in the Championship when he replaced Chris Wilder back in October but he has now transformed them into huge promotion contenders.
They currently sit fourth and have already secured their place in the play-offs – but now Carrick has been linked with a return to one of his old clubs.
Tottenham are searching for a new permanent manager after Antonio Conte’s departure.
His assistant Cristian Stellini initially took caretaker charge, but he was replaced by Ryan Mason on a temporary basis following the 6-1 defeat at Newcastle United.

Sun Sport exclusively revealed that Vincent Kompany, who has led Burnley to the Championship title, was Tottenham’s top target.
The 37-year-old has refused to comment on those links and now former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is among the top contenders for the job.
And Bayer Leverkusen’s is another name that is believed to be on the shortlist – but now TalkSPORT’s transfer guru Alex Crooks has thrown Carrick, who spent two years at Spurs before signing for Manchester United in 2006, into the mix.
It came as he was providing an update on Spurs’ pursuit of Nagelsmann when he told talkSPORT: “This one was always a very slim chance that he would go.

“Obviously that chance improved when he took himself out of the running to be the new Chelsea manager.
“Watching Chelsea last night, he might be quite pleased with that decision.
“But I think it always had to be 100 per cent right for Nagelsmann to go to Tottenham, particularly as they’re not going to be in the Champions League next season.
“I think he’s concerned about the lack of a sporting director and who they might appoint in that position, so he’s not going to commit himself until he knows who he is going to be reporting to.”
Crooks added: “I still think they might go down the young, up-and-coming route.
“We know they’re big admirers of Vincent Kompany, he’s definitely on their list of potential targets.
“Michael Carrick I think would be an interesting one to keep an eye on if Middlesbrough don’t go up.” More

Declan Rice is not playing for West Ham tonight because of illness.

Moyes said before kick-off: “Three of them took ill overnight.”
Rice joins Tomas Soucek and Nayef Aguerd on the absentee list because of illness.
