It was a first start in the Premier League since March 1 for the former Chelsea man.
And Arsenal legend Wright, 59, wants to see the Italian international in the team more often going forward.
Wright praised Jorginho for his controlling influence on the game, and helping get the ball to the “artist” Martin Odegaard.
The pundit said on his Wrighty’s House podcast: “We have recruited well and the guys have come in and scored goals. Odegaard has 14 Premier League goals from midfield, that’s the standard he’s set and they’ve got to get love for that.

“Can I also say something about Jorginho.
“I really would like to see Jorginho play in the team regularly now.
“I’m sorry, the way he controls the game for us, him and [Oleksandr] Zinchenko in there as well, but then once it gets to [Martin] Odegaard, the man is like an artist, [it’s] beautiful.”
Jorginho was recruited in January for a bargain £12million after the Gunners failed in their pursuit of Brighton ace Moises Caicedo.

And while Wright would like to see Jorginho in the team more going forward, the ex-striker admitted star winger Bukayo Saka could benefit with “a little bit of a rest”.
The Gunners effectively need to win their four remaining games to have any hope of winning the Premier League title, but Wright suggested Saka may be in need of a rest before the season ends.
Saka has scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in the Prem this season, but has one goal and one assist in his last six games.
Wright said: “I’d like to maybe see if [Bukayo] Saka can get a little bit of a rest. Maybe my mouth is going too quick for my brain.
“But the fact is in this situation we can’t lose any more games, we need everybody out there. But I just worry for him.” More

‘He doesn’t care at all’ – Premier League stars in stitches at Richarlison taking shirt off and having goals disallowed

MICHAIL ANTONIO and Callum Wilson were in stitches as they discussed Richarlison’s unfortunate goal celebrations this season. The Tottenham star finally bagged his first goal for the club last Sunday, dramatically heading home a stoppage time equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield.

Richarlison, 25, went wild upon hitting the back of the net, taking his shirt off and shushing the home fans before performing his “pigeon” celebration alongside team-mate Son Heung-min.
Unfortunately for the Brazilian, Lucas Moura’s ill-judged pass played in Diogo Jota just moments later – with the Portuguese forward winning it for the Reds.
Discussing Richarlison on The Footballers’ Football Podcast, Antonio said: “He’s scored four goals this season, three of the times he’s been offside.
“He has taken his top off four times this season.”

Through laughter, Newcastle star Wilson added: “He’s got four yellows he’s almost on a suspension.”
As it turns out, Richarlison has only been booked three times this season, and only once for celebrating a disallowed goal.
That came back in September against Fulham, when he removed his shirt after thinking he’d put his side 3-1 up, only for Ryan Sessegnon to be deemed offside in the build-up.
He subsequently scored twice against Marseille in the Champions League, but didn’t remove his shirt on either occasion.

Aside from after his celebrations against Fulham and Liverpool, Richarlison’s other yellow card came for dissent during August’s 1-1 draw at Antonio’s West Ham.
He also had a goal disallowed against Nottingham Forest in March, but did not remove his shirt on that occasion.
The Hammers forward continued: “I need to know. Even his goal the other day was so close to being offside.
“This man I swear to you, I rate him. Because he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care at all.”
Antonio then went on to add: “Those moments there I understand taking your shirt off, like. I fully get it, like.
“Those moments there, you have to take it off, you’ve got to run around blah blah.
“But the fact is he has done it on three other occasions, this season, and been offside.
“That would be in the back of my mind. That would live, that would have a fully planted seed in there thinking, ‘I need to see, like, I need to know If i’m onside before I go nuts.”

Garnacho has been out with an ankle injury for the Red Devils since early March.
But he recently got his boots back on and stepped up his efforts to return to the squad.
Manager Erik ten Hag has told him to be ready to be able to make an impact during the club’s run-in if he gets back to full fitness.
And it appears that this would be why the club have not allowed him to take part in the youth international competition.

Fulham star claims ref told team-mate Liverpool penalty WASN’T a spotkick as fans fume at Nunez ‘dive’

FULHAM star Tom Cairney claims that referee Stuart Attwell admitted that he’d botched Liverpool’s penalty decision last night. The Reds beat the West Londoners 1-0 courtesy of Mo Salah’s 39th minute spot kick at Anfield.

The penalty was awarded after Darwin Nunez nicked the ball from dallying defender Issa Diop, although replays showed that contact was minimal.
After the match, Cairney fumed: “I thought we played very well at times, but to lose to a penalty that wasn’t a penalty is always a kick in the you-know-whats.
“At the time, I wasn’t sure. The ref made a decision, I thought he’d seen contact. I asked him on the pitch, ‘please just make sure they check it.’
“He said they checked it, but he said second half to one of our players that it wasn’t a penalty, so it’s frustrating because it goes to other people to make the correct decision.

“Issa Diop hasn’t touched him, Nunez has taken another step and then gone over, and then you lose to something like that at Anfield which is frustrating when we’re trying to climb as high as we can.”
The incident also enraged Fulham fans online.
One wrote: “That’s painfully awful by Diop but also a dive by Nunez.”
While a second fumed: “There was no contact!”

A third tweeted: “Issa Diop vs Darwin Nunez is the ultimate battle of the chaos footballers.”
And a fourth huffed: “There’s absolutely ZERO contact from Diop on Nunez. How on earth are they giving penalties now when there’s no contact?”
Another added: “How is that a penalty for Liverpool against Fulham. Diop didn’t touch Darwin Nunez. They didn’t even need VAR to check that. This league man.”
The result saw Liverpool climb to within four points of fourth-placed Manchester United, albeit having played two games more.
Fulham, meanwhile, stayed tenth – but slipped to five points behind ninth-placed Brentford.
    ‘IT IS EMBARRASSING’
After the match, Cottagers boss Marco Silva blasted the penalty decision as “embarrassing”.
He told the BBC: “When you lose a game in football to that penalty, is embarrassing.
“When you have the referee, then the VAR to help the referee, it is embarrassing.

City returned to the top of the Premier League tonight with a 3-0 win over West Ham.
Erling Haaland got his record-breaking 35th league goal of the season and Phil Foden volleyed in the 1,000th of Pep Guardiola’s Etihad reign.
His side are a point clear of Arsenal with a game in hand and face rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on June 3.
However, they go up against Real Madrid in a repeat of last season’s Champions League semi-final.

And Richards, 34, is concerned they could come unstuck against Carlo Ancelotti’s men again – just as they did at the same stage a year ago, despite leading 5-3 on aggregate with a minute to go in the Bernabeu.
He does not think Guardiola will let lightning strike twice – but is not confident his beloved City can get past the 14-time European champions.
Speaking before the West Ham win, the former right-back told the Filthy Fellas podcast: “I don’t think they’re going to do the Treble.
“I am worried about that game [vs Real Madrid].

“I’ve got to be honest – I am worried about them, I wrote off Real Madrid last season.
“In the right moments, they know how to get it done.
“The only thing is now, the second leg is at the Etihad, it’s not at the Bernabeu. That could be the difference.
“The double, the double [City will win], I don’t think the treble.
“It’s tough to call [who will win the Premier League] you know.
“But the thing is, Man City are in the form of their lives – they have come with the best form at the right part, at the end of the season.”
City were all smiles as they eventually broke down a resilient West Ham side.
Nathan Ake headed in the opener on 50 minutes but it was Haaland’s delightful chip 20 minutes later that surpassed Alan Shearer and Andy Cole’s tallies to prompt a guard of honour after full-time.
Phil Foden wrapped up the victory with a deflected volley.

And he’s overtaken a Premier League legend in the process.
Jesus, 26, is in stunning form for Arsenal following a move from Man City last summer.
The hitman has scored 10 goals under Mikel Arteta.
His latest effort came in last night’s 3-1 thrashing of London rivals Chelsea.

And in doing so, Jesus set a new record for players who have never lost a Premier League game they’ve scored in.
The Samba star has netted in 55 top-flight matches across his Man City and Arsenal careers.
Incredibly, Jesus has gone on to win 44 of those matches.
The 11 others have been draws, and Jesus has now leapfrogged Liverpool star James Milner into top spot.

The Premier League legend has 43 wins and 11 draws from his 54 matches — not bad for a midfielder.
Milner is miles ahead of the next player in the list, former Aston Villa and England striker Darius Vassell.
He ended his career on 46 games unbeaten, which is 10 more than current Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
The likes of Chelsea duo Salomon Kalou and Pedro are also on the list.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli and ex-Man Utd star Antonio Valencia also make the top 10.
But it’s going to take some doing for a player to end up topping Jesus’ 55-game record. More

Liverpool 1 Fulham 0: Reds keep faint top-four hopes alive as Salah scores in eighth consecutive game at Anfield

THIS time, Jurgen Klopp was the calmest man in Anfield.Well, apart from penalty master-blaster Mo Salah.
A Mo Salah penalty secured Liverpool all three points against FulhamCredit: AP
All eyes were on Liverpool boss Klopp after his wild celebration and subsequent spiky referee comments at the weekend landed him in hot water.
He accused whistler Paul Tierney of having an anti-Liverpool agenda after Sunday’s last-gasp 4-3 win over Spurs and has since been charged, with a lengthy touchline ban possibly in the offing.
Yet here, when lax Issa Diop had gift-wrapped a first-half penalty by bringing down Darwin Nunez, which Salah cannon-balled down the middle, Klopp barely showed any emotion.
The Reds chief kept his head down – literally – as Egyptian king Salah sent his side on the way to their FIFTH successive win in the Premier League.

Goalkeeper Alisson had a big hand in the victory too, with two fine stops to deny Carlos Vinicius.
The narrow victory has given Liverpool a faint hope of gate-crashing the Champions League after an undeniably poor season, though it is an outside shot at best.
Fourth-placed Manchester United, who have two games in hand, are still four points away.
So it would take a collapse of epic proportions from Erik ten Hag’s side to let in Klopp’s at the back door.

Liverpool’s more likely euro vision – as the city itself prepares to host the famous Song Contest in ten days’ time – is for the Europa League as their grip on fifth was strengthened.
Klopp said he pulled a hamstring during his raucous celebrations of Diogo Jota’s 94th-minute winner over Spurs which saw him taunt the fourth official and receive a booking from Tierney.
But the Reds chief seemed to be moving fine as he walked off the team bus on arrival at Anfield.
His demeanour on the touchline was relaxed, presumably purposefully, sometimes with his hands in his pockets in his dugout.
Trent Alexander-Arnold looked sky-high on confidence again after claiming assists in each of his last five Premier League games – a feat only beaten by Cesc Fabregas (six) and Mesut Ozil (seven).
It was the creative England right-back who caused a lot of threat early on, having a few potshots from distance.
Yet Fulham had great chances of their own to break the deadlock, first when ex-Red Harry Wilson snuck in but opted to cross rather than shoot.
Then Alisson had to be at his best to pull off a stunning, double-handed stop to deny Vinicius, who had been teed up by Tosin Adarabioyo’s defence-splitting pass.
The strike was the Egyptian’s 99th goal at AnfieldCredit: AP
There really was little in it until Tosin’s centre-back partner Diop had his slack moment with seven minutes to go to half-time.
Tosin had rolled a simple pass to the ex-West Ham man, but inexplicably Diop took too long over meeting the ball, allowing the speedy Nunez to nip in.
Diop, realising his error, swung a wild leg and though he did not seem to make a huge amount of contact, it was enough for ref Stuart Attwell to point to the spot.
Salah had missed two penalties in a row before converting a spot-kick in the thriller with Tottenham on Sunday and there looked to be no chance he would miss here.
The ex-Chelsea man opted for extreme power, firing the ball down the middle, giving Bernd Leno no chance and drawing next to no reaction from Klopp on the sidelines.
Inside the Liverpool boss must have been buzzing though as Salah registered his 29th goal in all competitions this term – not bad given his feats have largely gone under the radar this term.
Salah had a decent chance to double the lead soon after the break when played in by Luis Diaz but ballooned over.
Fulham sparked Liverpool’s sub-par season when they drew 2-2 with the Reds at Craven Cottage on the opening day.
It explained why they did not feel out of it here and boss Marco Silva, once of Everton, urged his team on with a number of attacking substitutions.
They blew their big chance though as Vinicius was denied once again by a firm hand from Brazilian compatriot Alisson, after fine work from another Samba star, Willian.

Klopp made a hat-trick of defensive subs – including taking off Salah – as he looked to see the game out, and it worked.
Liverpool may not be purring like years gone by, but quietly they have been putting this run together as their new-look squad builds for next season.
There is still a slim chance this one could end with Champions League qualification, though as Virgil van Dijk pointed out yesterday: “it’s out of our hands, to be honest. It’s going to be very tough.”
Even for Liverpool, who have a habit of defying the impossible, ousting United or Newcastle would be some feat.
Don’t expect Klopp to keep his cool if they somehow pull it off.

As three minutes of injury-time ran over, Klopp could not help but have a little look at the fourth official’s watch.
But at full-time the German was calmness personified, embracing opposite number Marco Silva, in a polar opposite finish to the antics of Sunday. More
